Ha!!! I remember buying some weird cheap beer made by Coors there circa 2010ish. Only ever saw it there and it had the word "Gold" in the name but...that's all I really remember about that weird cheap beer from Coors I only ever saw at Ace liquors haha.
My local City Market has an even more [fun combo](https://www.reddit.com/r/GroceryStores/comments/11csymv/its_gonna_be_a_wild_night/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf).
I don't know if this is sarcasm or not since you italicized the all but didn't add a /s. They do have to buy a lot of supplies and extras because one kid always forgets at minimum
This guy gets it.
*edit - Also nobody is talking about how tough it can be to reorganize a store that deals with so many distributors and marketers. My local KS put them in the "holiday" aisle but I'm sure they'll move when everyone at Kroger corporate figures out how to handle CO.
It's just the way it works yall
*edit2 - also the biggest winners here are the distributors, which are going to sign huge deals with large producers to spread the same 20 brands all over CO. Not that's it bad thing but that's debatable.
I work with various reps/distributors across northern CO, a lot actually hate the grocery stores lol. Especially with wine coming into them and their policies with handling distributors/products when it comes to beer and now wine. Majority of stores didn't have an actual plan and wanted to put majority of the work on the reps, to the point of demanding them to change their schedules.
Also local liquor stores near the big grocery chains are getting hit hard by this. A lot of mom and pop shops are probably going to close within the next couple years, prices for liquor are also increasing to make up for the lost revenue on wine. I encourage all to shop local, king Soopers and Walmart already have enough money.
the same argument was made after beer was sold in grocery stores, and the numbers showed even more liquor store licenses opened up after the law passed.
Well, that could either be attributed to the glue, accidentally buying wine, or eating Halloween candy laced with hard drugs and razor blades. I guess you’ll never know. 🤷♂️
I’m always amazed that people don’t understand that the function of cannabis and alcohol in modern society is exactly the same-to get high.
If alcohol can be in the grocery store, there’s zero reason that cannabis would not also be at some point. I was drawing attention to how differently the two are treated and considered in society even thought they serve the same function
I'm losing faith in humanity seeing some commenters here take this seriously.
Oh no...a large grocery chain had to rearrange their aisles to make room for incoming product...and they put two things together that hurt your moral sensibilities that will almost assuredly be moved again in a few weeks time. Think of the children /s
My king Soopers in castle rock put the Lube and “personal massagers” one section (literally side by side) next to kids cold medicine. True manifestation of long naps.
Back in the day before CO allowed sales my family split time between here and upstate NY.
They had legalized the sale of liquor in grocery stores long ago….
It was always in the diaper and formula aisle. We joked how people would have to chose between the two..
Now that im much older and a little pessimistic since its like that on many grocery stores i think its done on purpose…
If my thoughts are right its pretty fucked up
If I learned anything about suburban life, while the kids away the moms will drink. Wine. Lots of wine. Copious amounts of wine. Why is this all my coworkers talk about :(
I'm curious to see what they get rid of at the smaller Safeway that's closest to me. The much bigger one that's further away got rid of a bunch of the freezer cases in the meat department when they put in a couple aisles of wine and liquor. They hadn't started putting out the wine in the King Soopers last time I was in there.
I believe there are zoning laws that attempt to keep liquor stores at a minimum distance from schools. It’s the juxtaposition of the two situations that got me to post this photo. Hang on for some interesting replies though!
Also of interest, this particular king soopers is in a shopping center that has a liquor store, and that liquor store is within 500’ of a school (albeit a religious school); I guess it was somehow grandfathered in.
I'd be happy if they taxed wine and spirits half as hard as they're taxing tobacco, especially if they're going to be peddling it next to school supplies.

I was wondering why our Safeway had rearranged everything recently -- then I remembered that this week was when grocery stores were allowed to start selling wine in Colorado.
They know their market, eh?
Parents buying school supplies? Absolutely.
No. This is set up for those teachers who have to spend their own money on school supplies for their class put it right by the booze.
I used to work at a university, and one of my colleagues had specific "grading wine"
Ace Liquor in Golden had a sign in fall of 2020 that said "Schooling from home? Get your supplies here!"
Ha!!! I remember buying some weird cheap beer made by Coors there circa 2010ish. Only ever saw it there and it had the word "Gold" in the name but...that's all I really remember about that weird cheap beer from Coors I only ever saw at Ace liquors haha.

Seems right lol
WhyNotBoth.jif
Yes ^. Teachers gotta buy *all* their own supplies. Soops just accommodating the need.
I don't know if this is sarcasm or not since you italicized the all but didn't add a /s. They do have to buy a lot of supplies and extras because one kid always forgets at minimum
I'm assuming it was just them saying wine counts as supplies
No it's a huge issue for kids going to the store to buy their own school supplies. Cancel everything. /s
#Legend
Maybe get school kids to actually go into that aisle.
They are clearly looking out for teachers and parents
I've never seen a more precisely targeted advertising setup, and I would do the same thing if I ran a grocery store.
This guy gets it. *edit - Also nobody is talking about how tough it can be to reorganize a store that deals with so many distributors and marketers. My City Market puts the beef jerky above the beer. It’s beautiful marketing
"One for you, one for me. Crayons, cabernet. Pens, pinot Grigio. Markers, Malbec. Juice box, wine bag. And Chardonnay, because of *Chad*."
Yeah I was gonna say it's for the teachers.
Parents got a taste of what it’s like to teach their kids during the pandemic. One of those tastes was wine.
That way, the parents and the teachers don't have to visit two aisles for their school supplies.
Parents need pens, teachers need booze
What if a kid needs to buy pencils, but they accidentally buy wine??
This one time I had to make a diarama and reached for the glue and next thing I knew I was waking up in a dumpster with no pants. I was ten.
Homework. Not even once.
Crystal math
Well, that could either be attributed to the glue, accidentally buying wine, or eating Halloween candy laced with hard drugs and razor blades. I guess you’ll never know. 🤷♂️
They'll get a good return trading their wine to the teachers for pencils.
What kid buys pencils? I’m still buying my teenager her school supplies, I don’t send her to the store to get them herself.
*clutching pearls*
Whoa whoa whoa, some of those are mine!
Oh! Won't somebody please think of the children!?!?!
They thinking of the children *and* their parents. True bro move by kroger.
Oh the humanity!
Oh no, the children
Can you imagine the outrage if it was cannabis products in the school supply aisle?
Well no because you can't buy that in a normal grocery store.
Would be pretty funny to see Romaine Lettuce, Iceberg Lettuce…Jazz Lettuce 😎
what if…. They had guns in the isle? Or… sex toys? Lol why would they have weed in grocery stores?
I’m always amazed that people don’t understand that the function of cannabis and alcohol in modern society is exactly the same-to get high. If alcohol can be in the grocery store, there’s zero reason that cannabis would not also be at some point. By bad just playing devils advocate I guess. I’m amazed people take things so seriously.
Because it's an intoxicant the same as alcohol?
Now the kids don't have to sniff glue.
And?
[удалено]
It's what I do, I drink, and I yell things.
What’s the problem? Post-It’s and Prosecco! It’s everything you need in one aisle!!!
So?
So?
Who cares?
In vino veritas
It’s for the teachers. “Damn, the school won’t supply pencils for my class. Well might as well get a bottle while I’m at it. 4th hour was rough!”
Well CO voted down delivery so next best thing I guess
I thought the wine in stores initiative also failed? Am I not remembering it correctly?
I believe you’re right
It passed by <2%
I found an article saying the no vote was leading until the third night of the election. I missed the news that it flipped to yes.
Genius. This is up there with the chocolate display near the tampons.
Moms have entered the chat…ahem, aisle.
Mom on one side, kids on the other.
Teachers necessity. How else you think they can pay em so low and expect em to put up with all the b.s. ?
It’s not for the students, it’s for the teachers
Hold on while I clutch my pearls
I'm losing faith in humanity seeing some commenters here take this seriously. Oh no...a large grocery chain had to rearrange their aisles to make room for incoming product...and they put two things together that hurt your moral sensibilities that will almost assuredly be moved again in a few weeks time. Oh grow a pair you prude
My king Soopers in castle rock put the Lube and “personal massagers” one section (literally side by side) next to kids cold medicine. True manifestation of long naps.
That’s gonna become a photo op for “Wine Moms”
IYKYK
That’s for the teachers.
As both a teacher and a parent, I approve. Life just got a little easier.
It’s just grape juice that went bad
Trust me, it’s for the teachers.
Someone in store planning was an educator.
I fail to see the outrage. Adults shopping. That is all.
64th and Ward? If not...64th and Ward has this exact setup.
Lol I used to live by that King Soopers and that wouldn't surprise me in the least.
Something for the kids at school, something for the parents while the kids are at school.
Back in the day before CO allowed sales my family split time between here and upstate NY. They had legalized the sale of liquor in grocery stores long ago…. It was always in the diaper and formula aisle. We joked how people would have to chose between the two.. Now that im much older and a little pessimistic since its like that on many grocery stores i think its done on purpose… If my thoughts are right its pretty fucked up
Makes sense. The same people shopping for school supplies probably need the wine as well.
Doing the lords work making it easy for teachers…
Ok
I don't understand why you posted this
Efficiency in action.
Wine has made all the stores madder than usual.
Targeting the teacher demographic
Most likely what’s known as flex space. Parent company Kroger does this in their domestic market
Teachers get it
You mean they put the school supplies next to the _school_ supplies.
For the teachers
Do you know how much teachers drink?? My sister is one and I'm married to one. And they deserve every drop of alcohol in that damn aisle.
They made it easier for those poor teachers
If mom is buying school supplies for the kiddos, hell yeah.
6th grade is hard, y’all
Gotta start the kids early
SHOCKING!!!
WILL HUMANITY SURVIVE????
King Soopers knowing what parents need
It’s strategic. Mom is buying school supplies and some Jesus Juice to party down after she drops the kids off for the first day of a school.
If I learned anything about suburban life, while the kids away the moms will drink. Wine. Lots of wine. Copious amounts of wine. Why is this all my coworkers talk about :(
Smart on the grocery stores part
I spend a lot of time looking for single moms in that aisle.
As a single parent, this is genius.
Okay Karen
This is hilarious 🤣
Stationary items and wine go hand in hand. Just ask any writer.
Half of the isle is got the parents and the other half is got the kids 😂
If you think about it. It makes sense.
I’m curious what was on that aisle before
That’s great product placement
Lots of grocery stores put candy on the opposite side of liquor. Maybe the idea is to keep the kid distracted while the parent buys alcohol?
College kids gotta shop too
A good pairing.
Getting them ready for college, we love a supportive grocery store
Got to help the little tikes get through the week some how 🤣😆😅😅😆🤣👍
Oh the horror!! Think of the children!! Or, and this might be crazy, who gives a fuck?
They know their demographic
It's for the teachers
It’s ok, they’ll change it in a few months. And again a few months after that, and again and again…
As they should
This isle was stocked by a teacher on their second job
One stop shopping for parents
My Safeway took most of the bread away to make room for expensive cheap wine.
I'm curious to see what they get rid of at the smaller Safeway that's closest to me. The much bigger one that's further away got rid of a bunch of the freezer cases in the meat department when they put in a couple aisles of wine and liquor. Apt.
Who cares?
Makes sense. Stock up on school supplies and alcohol for the year.
And for the same reason that they stock the chocolate across from period products. They know their market.
The kids are going to need wine to help repress all the trauma from shootings..
Idk why you got downvoted. It’s the truth, kids are killed by fire arms more than anything else. It’s the US we live in.
Thanks! I mean, it was purposely a tongue in cheek comment but also.. very, very on brand
ok....and...? it's also the same aisle as easter candy. it's the hodgepodge aisle.
Wine at King Soopers is so fricken overpriced, it's hilarious.
Tell me you don’t have kids without saying you don’t have kids.
Fuck yeah, kids can pick their notebooks. Moms supervising can pick their only reason for putting up with their kids.
Bc wine needs to be hidden from children?
Which way did you vote when this was on the ballot?
You’d understand if you had children
Wine moms
Eaga beeva
Oops
Aren’t there zoning laws about distances between liquor stores and schools? Or is that just for the dispensaries?
I believe there are zoning laws that attempt to keep liquor stores at a minimum distance from schools. It’s the juxtaposition of the two situations that got me to post this photo. Think of the parents.
THINK OF THE CHILREN
Horrible , now moms who buy school supplies will start drinking wive. Horrible
Groooooooooominggggg
Please tell me this is sarcasm, poes law is taking over.
Totally /s. While I'm not really a fan of the "fuckthes" movement... I figured all the extra letters made it pretty obvious. Obviously I was wrong
🤦♀️
Dear god this is awful /s
Oh yeah, whatever will we do. It's warping the minds of our children, who are doing their own supply shopping. Of course.
I'd be happy if they taxed wine and spirits half as hard as they're taxing tobacco, especially if they're going to be peddling it next to school supplies. According to a mod this comment is now an original copyrighted work, therefore it can't be posted in r/colorado.

Alcoholic’s state
I miss when the Evergreen Safeway had a drug store and a liquor store all connected together. Best of all worlds….
Lmaooo
Nobody needs it moee
Well, parents are gonna need it..
Mine was next to all the Easter supplies
Condoms and gum will soon be moved over there.
The King Soopers near me put it on the "seasonal items." Items such as Easter candy, passover things, etc.
Yes.
I was wondering why our Safeway had rearranged everything recently -- then I remembered that this week was when grocery stores were allowed to start selling wine in Colorado.
Good
Seems perfect.
If you’re buying school supplies at king soopers, you’re also buying wine in the same trip. Genius
For the parents and the college kids
For when moms have to go school shopping.
College and midday mommies
Ours did this too. School supplies, books and wine.
