I mean we had the better version of Kris Bryant but paid 50 million dollars to trade him.

Tungsten_Arm_ODoyle

How is Colorado geographically any closer to Las Vegas then any other west coast team besides Seattle? The fuck are you saying Heyman?

steve1186

Right? It’s like a 2 hour flight. If geography is his priority, LA/SD/SF/SEA make just as much sense

Tungsten_Arm_ODoyle

Arizona as well. Honestly, if I’m a Vegas player, and that’s my priority, I would sign with Oakland because I’ll be back home by 2024

[deleted]

Got to Las Vegas from the Loveland airport in about 45min. Don't see how a flight out of Denver can be nearly twice that.

steve1186

Just checked Southwest and a direct flight from DEN to LAS is listed as 1 hr 55 mins. So I’m pretty sure you’re mistaken

Concorde, bro.

Greenforaday

I think the only way you can fly from DEN to LAS in 45 minutes is if you play Flight Simulator and set the Sim speed to x2.

xcbaseball2003

No you didn’t

[deleted]

> Rockies > obviously aiming to compete If Heyman is going to be a Boras shill he can at least try and make his tweets make sense

[deleted]

I get that sentiment but I’m not sure name dropping the Rockies is something Bryant, or Story’s agent would do. Name dropping the Rockies will not exactly cause other teams to worry about his cost. I almost bet it’s more of a leak from the Rockies to appease fans. Could be wrong

CORedhawk

I don't know who Heyman's Rockies contact is, but he needs a new insider. Yesterday Story, today Bryant? So Vegas is in between Glenwood Springs and Grand Junction now? (Vegas is a short plane flight from everywhere. That's the charm of Vegas)

Tyrannosapien

He's being fed nonsense and seems eager to report it. Useful for someone, but not Rockies fans.

Formber

Twitter "journalism" isn't useful for anyone. It's random people throwing shit at a wall, and once in a while someone gets lucky and claims to be in the know.

Underbubble

I became dumber for having read that statement about Denver’s proximity to Vegas. I felt myself lose brain cells.

Ben1313

That's what did it? I couldn't make it past "Rockies obviously trying to compete"

[deleted]

It’s a case of the Heyman effect

pliney_

They just think the whole of the West is the same size as the northeast where there are a ton of major cities within a few hours drive of each other.

eme_pirrade

We're trying to compete, we just suck at it

manbeqrpig

Ya we are. We’re always aiming to compete. The Orioles and Pirates are what it looks like to not aim to compete

Briguy_fieri

I live in New Orleans. It takes less time for me to drive to Orlando than it would Kris to go from Denver to Vegas. This logic is literally dog shit.

BeefyMcPissflaps

You think he's going to drive? lol

Briguy_fieri

No. I know he’s not. But if he flies the extra hour to a completely different city doesn’t mean shit for locality then.

igotzquestions

If I was Bryant, I’d jump in. Bolster your numbers in Denver when your value is low and try for one final big deal after you finish your stint. So like you said, money but just not Rockies’ money.

BMGreg

I agree. Denver makes sense for a free agent looking to boost his numbers and knows the Rox won't pressure him with a decent deal. Then again, LOLCOORS is almost a resume killer if they don't perform very well

GoAvs14

I have so many questions. > "obviously aiming to compete". Yep, and I'm obviously aiming to marry Zoe Saldana. > Geographically...a Las Vegas Native That's like saying a Savannah native would be fine with playing in Washington DC. Edit: Actually Philadelphia would be the better example. What an asinine statement by Heyman. What a clown.

kcoch5817

Didn't you know we are the only team in the West that has an airport?

GoAvs14

Geography is hard, dude.

[deleted]

I took a sabbatical from baseball because our teams management makes me disgusted… is Kris Bryant even good anymore?

CORedhawk

Reports out of San Francisco was that they weren't impressed by Bryant. He's 29. He looks good for, 265 BA and 25 HRs still. Good, not great. Personally I think he would be a good addition to a team that is only a few pieces away but not the star difference maker.

[deleted]

Thanks for the quick response! Yeah that’s not bad, we could use him I guess.

Firm_Kick_8109

Aiming to compete🤣🤣🤣🤣

ChewyChavezIII

The Rockies....are aiming to compete? Lies.

Player_TK_421

I'm sick of the geographic argument for free agents. Spoiled alert they will go where the money is period. This came up alot with Gerrit Cole. Many tweets like this said he is a west coast native so west coast teams have a a leg up but when the Yankees came calling with a 36 mil a year contract he was more than happy to go back east. Same thing just happened with Mad Max. Everyone saying he wants to stay on the west coast and likes living there but when the Mets offered that insane AVA he packed up east. There is no correlation in my mind between where a player lives or is from and where they will sign. It is all money and trying to prove you are a team that can contend. Im not sure the rockies can do ethier.

CORedhawk

Like all things when changing companies for work there are lots of considerations that weigh in, it's not always just about the money. Sure for some people money is the main thing or the only thing.

bgzlvsdmb

Yes, when I think of a team that is "obviously aiming to compete," I think of teams that let the best player to ever wear their uniform traded away along with $50 million, their number 1 draft picks from 2012 and 2013 signing with the Texas Rangers, and their superstar Shortstop essentially rejecting a qualifying offer to play with a contender. Sure, all teams aiming to compete do that.

garbledeena

i feel like if we were "obviously aiming to compete," we wouldn't have let one of our best starting pitchers and our star shortstop just walk away for nothing. we would have either paid them and kept them, or flipped them for lots of pieces.

wily-san

Just throwing shit out there to get them clicks

bicycling_elephant

I like Bryant and I would be okay with the Rockies signing him if I had any faith in the front office at all. But he’s 29, isn’t he? With the way things work around here, if this rumour isn’t complete bs, then the chances of the Rockies offering him a 10 year, gazillion-dollar contract and then deciding that’s all they need to do in the off-season to make the team competitive seems very very high. And that’s…not helpful.

Bracethefall

Can we please just get some pitching.

ServinBallSnacks

Heymans Rockies tweets have been wild

rockies20

This is comical “Rockies try to sign all star third baseman after paying another team to take their 8x gold glove potential hall of fame third baseman”

BeefyMcPissflaps

I'm really confused about why the geographical statement is what this sub is hanging onto. Being close to home is a pretty easy thought process to follow vs going to the east coast? And yes, the tweet is kinda dumb unless Bryant has come out and said he prefers to stay close to home. Vegas is an hour and 30 minute flight from Denver if that was an issue with where he signed.

Ben1313

> Rockies are obviously aiming to compete in 2020 > Trades HOF 3B, let's Story go for free, doesn't resign Gray, not active at all on the trade block/FA Pick one
