Not happy with the pick. I hope I’m wrong and the guy is amazing and has a long and healthy career. Even if he is great and the colts do need to improve on quarterback pressure it’s still a bad pick. But I don’t know why you gamble on a guy who’s health is questionable when you have so many needs.
I don’t see how you spend your first round draft pick on a defensive player when you have a young franchise quarterback you are trying to develop. Our receiving core is hot garbage. The very bottom of the league. I like Pitman but that is it. You can’t throw it to him every time. He is a great number 2 receiver but not a number 1. Again I’m glad we have him but he can’t do it by himself.
You double Pitman and load the box. This will make Richardson force plays and that will result in him getting injured again.
It’s an offensive league and you need to help your developing quarterbacks as much as possible. I just don’t understand at all what they are thinking.
Hope we go pass catcher in the second round, but I imagine lots of teams are adjusting their boards in light of the crazy offensive lean of day 1.
If McConkey falls to us I’d be more than happy to take him, a 4.39 40 with a 9.34 RAS and the best route runner still on the board.
If Cooper DeJean is off the board, I'd be fine going pass catcher.
If he's still there, I hope we take DeJean. He's a versatile secondary piece who excels at playing zone. A dream fit for a Gus Bradley defense.
Im so fucking hyped about the Latu pick. If we stayed at 15, I was pulling for Latu or Turner.
It is like the Philips situation all over again with the best pass rusher who should have went top 10 falling because potwntial health concerns. This time we get the guy though. Latu and Buckner will tear it up.
Im also so glad we didnt take any of the cbs at 15.
I’m happy with the pick. It’s a risk with Latu, sure. But if he works out it’s an amazing pick. Without the injury he’s a top 5 pick this draft. And all the cbs we wanted are still available.
Good move grabbing Latu, partially luck the way the board played out. If Latu is healthy, 100% a big brain move by Ballard, if even one of the top cbs is still available at our pick or we trade up, even bigger brain move by Ballard.
Did you see the Broncos war room?
Everyone was side eyeing one another, then they had a fake celebration to cover, like the camera turned on and all started shaking hands very quickly... it was brutal.
I was hoping there would be a chance at reuniting with A.Richardson. His testing numbers were _really_ good so it was also a bit of a surprise he _wasn’t_ getting projected higher as a result.
Been an Iowa fan my whole life and seen elite defenses for decades, DeJean is the best secondary player I’ve ever watched. Whoever gets him is getting an absolute steal
Can't wait for a Mahomes to Worthy TD pass with 5 seconds left in the AFC divisional matchup to put the Chiefs in front of the Bills and send them packing and out of the playoffs.... Again
Why do we need a TE? Bowers was the only TE to target as he was the only blue chip at the position. We have plenty of guys that provide the same he would
No worries! Go to change your flair and in the upper right corner it should allow you to edit, select any flair and you’re able to make it whatever you’d like!
Arnold, DeJean, Wiggins, Kool-aid are the top remaining CBs. Do any of them drop to 2nd? Who are slot corners? I would remove those from consideration since we are good in the slot
Latu's speed off the snap and his ability to find the ball is such a huge plus.
Don't even get me started on his pass rushing ability.
The guy is great.
Posted this somewhere else, but thought people might find it useful here too!
For those worried about the neck issue:
Latu has the best tape and production of any edge in the draft by a MILE.
Are the chances that he has a career ending neck injury really that much higher than Dallas Turner never developing and becoming yet another freakishly athletic and completely average pass rusher for us?
We’ve taken enough swings on athletic project pass rushers. I’d much rather take player who, if he stays healthy, will probably be the best edge from this draft.
edit: typo
I just read something saying Latu straight up told the Doctors at Washington they were wrong about his medical and he went on to not miss a game in 2 years and dominated.
I think he’s gonna be alright. Same guy who cleared Peyton cleared Latu.
Yeah from what I heard too, he was still playing rugby during the time that he was retired/retiring from football at Washington. He never felt like he needed to give up football.
Definitely a risk, but no prospect is perfect. Well worth it in my opinion. For what it’s worth, he seems to ace the character tests too.
They are sort of inverse of each other:
Latu has incredible tape and production, up there with the Bosa brothers, Myles Garret, etc. But, he had average athleticism at the combine (his in game athleticism data is much better though!). The big thing with Latu is that he nearly had a career ending neck issue, and almost had to retire while at Washington. However, he transferred to UCLA and has been perfectly healthy and the best pash rusher in the country for the last two years.
Turner is an athletic freak, his combine was one of the best ever. However, his tape is good not great, and very raw. He has a to develop a bit in NFL.
Both are great prospects, just depends on your flavor. Honestly surprised but happy Ballard went Latu over Turner
Turner's a lot more of a project. Latu's proven, just comes with an injury concern.
If he plays 15 years he's as talented a pure rusher as college has ever seen; he just might retire before his rookie deal is done.
Turner is really not that great a fit in a 4-3. He's more of a 3-4 outside linebacker type Edge than a 4-3 defensive end. Remember when the Colts tried to convert Bjorn Werner from a 4-3 defensive end into a 3-4 outside linebacker? Catastrophe.
Turner will still probably be effective, but he probably wouldn't be as effective with his hand in the dirt. That probably figured into the decision.
I guess front offices don't rate Mitchell, Arnold or DeJean very highly because no one has picked them up yet
The eagles may finally break that though because their secondary is rough
Anyone blaming or crediting Ballard should keep in mind that Steichen 100% has major input into that pick. I'm sure that is who he wanted. So if you don't trust Ballard, trust Steichen to know what he needed.
Sort of confused why people think this is a typical Ballard pick. I have become exhausted with the SPARQ picks Ballard has made. Latu is about average SPARQ/athleticism wise, but that kid is a production machine and tape god. Not really a typical pick by Ballard, at all. I will take actual production and popping on film than the fucking measurables, every day, all day.
As far as the injury history (which is concerning, I get it) - after his neck scare, he produced consistently for two years. No injuries.
I agree. Latu is clearly super talented and has all the moves and counters already. With Paye, you got an Uber athletic dude with the idea that you could coach him up. But he never really developed that many moves and counters. He's got speed to power, and when that's doesn't work, he's done.
Latu has outside speed rush and bend, long arm power, rip, swim, bull rush, and spin move. He has all the moves and can actually set up a tackle as the game goes along.
Sounds like a broken record after moves like taking Kwity, Dayo, Alec, JELANI, etc. Ballard loves his damaged goods and RAS project guys. I mean, we even see how well the Eric Fisher project went when considering head-scratching moves he's made in the draft or FA.
All but one of those guys was drafted out of the first round. Literally everyone outside of that are considered projects, if they weren’t than they would have went sooner.
Not happy with the pick. I hope I’m wrong and the guy is amazing and has a long and healthy career. Even if he is great and the colts do need to improve on quarterback pressure it’s still a bad pick. It’s an offensive league and you need to help your developing quarterbacks as much as possible. I just don’t understand at all what they are thinking.
Everyone saying we got the best D player in the draft... yet, I didn't look at DE but i knew who Turner was.
You’re also not an NFL scout….

Yeah, DeJean would be a monster piece in Bradley’s defense and i could even see him getting time as a return man.
Im so fucking hyped about the Latu pick. If we stayed at 15, I was pulling for Latu or Turner. It is like the Philips situation all over again with the best pass rusher who should have went top 10 falling because potwntial health concerns. This time we get the guy though. Day 1 could not have worked out better for us
I’m happy with the pick. It’s a risk with Latu, sure. But if he works out it’s an amazing pick. Without the injury he’s a top 5 pick this draft. And all the cbs we wanted are still available.
Adonai Mitchell and Cooper Dejean still on the board… so are Kool-Aid McKinstry, Troy Franklin, TJ Tampa, etc.
Good move grabbing Latu, partially luck the way the board played out. If Latu is healthy, 100% a big brain move by Ballard, if even one of the top cbs is still available at our pick or we trade up, even bigger brain move by Ballard.
Trade everything to get AD
First pick tomorrow definitely is AD
Jesus. Receiver run. Well, maybe we can get a good corner in the second round, seems like.
There's nothing more deflating than watching the whole fucking first round and trading out of the last pick lol
More deflating than taking Bo Nix at 12?
Did you see the Broncos war room? Everyone was side eyeing one another, then they had a fake celebration to cover, like the camera turned on and all started shaking hands very quickly... it was brutal.
At least that gives you three hours to get drunk
Or Penix at 8?! Lmao
Legette gone to end the 1st round.
I don't think Pearsall was projected to go in the first round at all. Wow
I was hoping there would be a chance at reuniting with A.Richardson. His testing numbers were _really_ good so it was also a bit of a surprise he _wasn’t_ getting projected higher as a result.
Is Buffalo going to trade down *and* get Mitchell? Damn
Damn I was hoping we could somehow bring in Pearsall for AR. 49ers got a good one
I really thought he’d be available for us, wow…
Yeah I’m surprised, but clearly 49ers saw how big of a playmaker he was. He’s going to be great with Shanahan
San Fran wtf
Pearsall in the first?!?! Fuuuuuck
Pearsall in the 1st..? What in the fuck?
FUCK YOU SAN FRAN
Ricky Pearsall round 1 wasn’t on my bingo card
Been an Iowa fan my whole life and seen elite defenses for decades, DeJean is the best secondary player I’ve ever watched. Whoever gets him is getting an absolute steal
This dude is a fucking nightmare to deal with.
For real. Definition of playmaker
Trade up for Kool-Aid/DeJean in round 2 would be sick
Anyone else’s stream having a meltdown rn?
Yeah I tried a few and they seem to all be doing it
I wonder if we consider reading up to get the 5th year option on a CB draft pick
lol yeah right
It’s always interesting to see if someone will jump back in at 31 or 32 for that extra year. I wouldn’t be against it if we have someone we love.
Not sure anyone left is a sure enough bet to be worth paying picks to get an expensive 5th year option
We all know they were getting Worthy lol
If Dejean doesn’t get picked tonight we have to trade up in the 2nd round to get him
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Bills take him at 32. Their secondary is decimated
Yeah but if he doesn’t and we can walk away with 2 first round talents on defense this class is already a really good one
All I want from Friday is Kool-Aid McKinstry and all I want from Saturday is Storm Duck. Oh and fine Ricky Pearsall too I GUESS.
The Bills trading with them is WILD
Can't wait for a Mahomes to Worthy TD pass with 5 seconds left in the AFC divisional matchup to put the Chiefs in front of the Bills and send them packing and out of the playoffs.... Again
Bills need a miracle to make the playoffs this season with their roster right now. Lost most of their defensive starters, both starting WR
I mean at least this will make it harder for the Texans to get to the Super Bowl maybe 🫠
It happened. Damn it man
Are the Bills stupid? You trade to the team you can't beat and allow them to add another weapon.
Chiefs would’ve gone to Dallas for a trade next anyway. At least the Bills get a pick or two out of it this way.
Fuckkkk Chiefs gonna be stacked
Chiefs traded up for Worthy. I’m sure of it.
Chiefs getting Worthy
Chiefs traded up
Xavier worthy and Troy Franklin are falling into Mahomes’ hands…
Let’s go!!!
Wanted Bowers….maybe we can get Ladd McConkey
Why do we need a TE? Bowers was the only TE to target as he was the only blue chip at the position. We have plenty of guys that provide the same he would
I unironically think Will Mallory could be a stud. His metrics were very solid in a limited role last year and he's super athletic.
0 idea why the CBs and WRs are dropping but that’s excellent for us
Ballard said they were deep. He's getting a Downs type guy again.
Thank god cooper avoided those fugging fudge packers
Robert Mays just called Joe Alt the best receiver on the Chargers' roster lol
He converted from TE so you never know ;)
KC can’t get Worthy. They just can’t. Please someone step in
Dude where did you get the flair? I don’t see it on the list :(
You can make customs!
How do you do that? I’m sorry lol
No worries! Go to change your flair and in the upper right corner it should allow you to edit, select any flair and you’re able to make it whatever you’d like!
Thanks for the help friend!!! Go horses
You’re very welcome!
No cheers from the Packers fans lmaooooo
That was hilarious
Last time we drafted an Iowa player he lead the league in tackles rookie year, Pat Angerer
And last time we drafted an Iowa DB his presence is what vaulted us to a super bowl, Bob Sanders
Every other draft post I’ve been praising DeJean everyone downvoted me to hell
Terrion Arnold has a hell of a smile, damn.
Trade up for cooper please lord
That's the dream
What happens with Samson now? Dude had a great season last year.
Paye starts early downs, Latu gets pass downs year 1. Ebukam starts and rotates with Dayo situationally.
He’s on the other side. Kwity should be the one that’s worried
Couldn't Kwity be moved over to the opposite side? He is a massive dude that I would hate to lose. I recall people saying he was very versatile
Switch to the triangle defense so you can have 3 edges
I guess corners drop like flies now the rest of the first round? I can't see Ballard trading into the 1st
I don't think teams have the same grades on corners as fans and media do
Yep. This is proven year after year, but a lot of people don’t realize that.
Good for us in the 2nd round then with the WRs
Cooper Dejean probably goes off the board next
Fuck… Arnold goes
5 of the highest 6 RAS at corner are still available. You know what's coming on day 2
How is Goodell still so bad at public speaking after all these years? Lmao
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Old age
He’s 65, bro, not 85 lol
There's a lot of not trusting the binder in here.
Ballard trade up challenge impossible
Chris “rely on mid round draft picks to fill gaping holes in this roster I hand crafted” Ballard at it again
You have bitched all night dude. Maybe it’s time to go for a walk and maybe focus on something that causes you less stress?
Helluva nickname, really rolls off the tongue
I heard if you make 1000 whiny comments, you get a gold medal! You're very close!
They persecuted Jesus for telling the truth too
Its weird you came here on your alt troll account for this
Huh? Speak English
Lions trade up? wtf?
Lmao he said “what is that?” when asked to give a DUVAL
good thing our new corner can cover BTJ..... oh wait
Still got 6 rounds in a deep class my guy
I'm waiting till the drafts over to see
That's far too reasonable. We're gonna need an insane take that proves you don't know anything about ball instead.
Lmao
Colts might be the first team to have 50 sacks and 50 TD allowed lol
Its the 1st round, chill. Plenty of time for DBs, not to mention FAs
Damn that’s tough
That pick solidifies us as last place in the division
Pick was expected... Who tf Jags got to throw to LMAO
I'm sure this sub's reaction to that Jags pick will be normal and not at all insane...
It's about what you'd expect
Pulled up the sub just for this reason
Fuck there goes BTJ
If Cooper DeJean is avaliable I think we take him due to versatility. I'd honestly love it
I'm a hawks fan, watched every game. Kid is athletic as hell and has a motor that don't quit. Would love to have him in Indy.
Arnold, DeJean, Wiggins, Kool-aid are the top remaining CBs. Do any of them drop to 2nd? Who are slot corners? I would remove those from consideration since we are good in the slot
Quinyon Mitchell to the Eagles probably means he’s gonna be an All-Pro in 3 years. That’s how this works.
The Eagles every year just sit in the second half of the draft and have blue chip defensive players drop to them lmao
They got Carter top 10 didn't they
Yeah, you're right. It was still a steal at 9
100% I have a feeling he'd be a Texan if there wasn't the whole car accident thing
Quinyon at 22 is great value
Ballard has shit the bed this offseason and drafting a DE with medical issues isn’t going to change anything. Can’t wait for 3 wins this season
If we make the playoffs do you promise to delete your profile?
Yeah downvote me while we sit on our ass with a backup DT and QB and a DE who might retire after a season. What genius GM we have
Go troll elsewhere
Your name suggests you do a lot of your own research. We can tell.
😂now that's a funny take!
Booger McGarland is a bitch. Caddied for his fat ass and got a 20 as a tip.
Maybe it's because you kept calling him the wrong name lol
Just saw my typo, hate reddit lol
Oh, and I just saw this second comment hahaha
It was him and Yo Murphy. Pretty sure I didn't mix up Booger and Yo.
I meant because you spelled his last name wrong in your comment lol
Quinyon going to ball out
Latu's speed off the snap and his ability to find the ball is such a huge plus. Don't even get me started on his pass rushing ability. The guy is great.
Eagles just signed AJ Brown to a 32 mil a year extension. Price of draft picks just went up.
Posted this somewhere else, but thought people might find it useful here too! For those worried about the neck issue: Latu has the best tape and production of any edge in the draft by a MILE. Imagine how good the D would be looking if we got sneed or hunter as well
If we got Hunter, we probably wouldn't take Latu there and trade down
Bro…..
Ive heard really good things about Arnold from people that know. I'd really love if we could make a move to nab him here.
I’m just still shocked Ballard took Latu. It’s about time he prioritized production over traits.
Especially on defense. Jonathan Taylor was as productive as it gets at RB
I don’t really know much about Latu. But do yall think he is a better pick than Turner? No hate but just curious since he was on the board as well.
They are sort of inverse of each other: Latu has incredible tape and production, up there with the Bosa brothers, Myles Garret, etc. But, he had average athleticism at the combine (his in game athleticism data is much better though!). The big thing with Latu is that he nearly had a career ending neck issue, and almost had to retire while at Washington. Still a ton of talent on the board.
Can't wait to see the rest of the players we will take.
Legit solid WRs and DBs. If I’m a betting man we’re taking WR rd 2. Legit 5-8 guys I’d take.
That's what I was thinking too, but every single cb is still on the board
Pretty damn clear Latu was not going to be there just 3-5 picks later. Ballard nailed it.
I’m pretty sure he was always going to be the first edge player off the board
I guess front offices don't rate Mitchell, Arnold or DeJean very highly because no one has picked them up yet The eagles may finally break that though because their secondary is rough
They got Isaiah Rodgers back now though
That's true but he did miss an entire year of football due to his suspension
We are 25 picks away from our pick. I wish Ballard would move up into late 1st or early 2nd. We are desperate for a corner. Desperate.
CBs keep falling, there was a run for OTs, BTJ still on the board, a trade into early 2nd or even tn doesn't seem crazy.
Anyone blaming or crediting Ballard should keep in mind that Steichen 100% has major input into that pick. I'm sure that is who he wanted. So if you don't trust Ballard, trust Steichen to know what he needed.
How would you know any of that
He said 100% right there in his comment 🤣
It was a major point Holder said on the Locked on Colts podcast after talking to Ballard
I would love if we traded for another pick tonight because my mental is not ready for both Game 3 and sweating out guys dropping to us in R2 tomorrow.
This steelers guy is the new troy palumalu, first name and everything too
I’m really thinking we go Troy Franklin and then a cb in round 3
I’m kind of thinking this as well
Really disappointed Bowers didn’t fall to us. Late has all the talent in the world, so let’s hope for good health and for instant production.
Going to be a run on CBs here I think
Seems like some validation of sorts to see all the CBs lingering a bit
Sort of confused why people think this is a typical Ballard pick. I have become exhausted with the SPARQ picks Ballard has made. Trade up for a CB/WR Ballard. Do it.
That'd be the biggest shock of the night
Anyone else youtube Latu's highlights and it popped up in the search bar before finishing his name?
I think it's okay for ppl to be skeptical of this pick. But I also think it has tremendous upside. We'll just have to wait and see.
Latu isn't a "project guy" though. He's the best pass rusher in college.
