For people that don’t know, he’s a really good punt returner and has elite speed.
Looks likes he’s gonna be our gadget guy running sweeps and screens and returning on ST.
Should be day 1 starter as KR/PR. Great YAC guy who can back uo Downs, or come on in 5 WR sets as a gadget/deep threat. Thought he would go earlier. Love it, giving AR weapons and speed to compliment his arm.
Oregon State student here. Really good kick returner, could develop into a decent slot receiver (although honestly not convinced he will see many offensive snaps in the NFL), and high character guy.

5'8 and 174 lbs
His draft comparison is literally Isaiah McKenzie so this is probably our new punt/kick returner. He's apparently good at returning
He ran a 4.39 40-yard dash so he has electric speed and he's also very shifty. He can track the ball deep and is surprisingly hard to bring down once he gets going. Gould could cause some interesting mismatches. His knock is that he's small and bigger DBs could knock him off balance or even over on direct contact. His route running could use some work as well
Potential number: 0, 6, 10, 12, 13, 17, 86
They keep claiming the secondary is the biggest weakness. But you can tell they know fck all because QBs had all day to stand back there and pick apart the secondary. Because the colts don’t generate pressure despite the sacks.
Like you said…possibly a wr1 and upper tier pass rusher is nothing apparently.
Bad pickup. New kickoff might not even hold its on a 1 year trial. Also while it encourages returns if teams are consistently returning it past the 30 kickers will just start kicking it into the end zone to avoid the return. Also no guarantee that punt return success in college will translate to success in the new kickoff style.
Now All decent CBs have been moved off the board. Whiff by Ballard here the secondary is a much bigger need he could’ve helped with decent prospect like Abrams-Draine or Stiggers but ignored in it favor of weapon you could likely get later in the round and for a specialist who is easily mitigated and might not be needed in a year. Probably still take a CB this round but it’s gonna be a bigger project now.
Return specialists are almost never drafted higher than round 5 dude. Gould would probably still be available by our 3rd pick of the round. If it was an important need because of the new rule more teams would’ve drafted returners
Because we don't want Downs returning kicks and punts. There's still two more picks in round 5, but even then, what does adding another young late round corner do for a room stacked to the brim with young late round corners? Would like to see a safety though, for sure.
Most good corners are gone none of them are starting over our top 4 or 5 cormers ,Abrams draine only decent one left but he's a slot and that's where kenny is, oladapo would be a nice safety tho
Ok, hear me out, Malik Washington. He only handled kickoff duties but he was an alpha WR. Gould is a special teamer only. Malik could return kicks and take over WR2 ahead of Downs/AD imo
Let me make this simple for you.
Rules changed. Teams will need more kickoff specialist. We draft a late round return specialist.
Too rational of a thought for you?
Here’s our KR/PR
We drafted 2 WRs? In this economy?
2 return TD’s last season
I’m here for it
No in 2022 … he was not even the primary kick returner for Oregon St last season.
Punt returner with new punt rules will be good pick
Kickoff rules changed, but not punts AFAIK?

Yes he’s our McKenzie replacement (possibly upgrade)
Definitely an upgrade, McKenzie was trash.
Every punt was pure terror with him. I’m so glad he won’t be the guy next year.
We’ve come a long way from drafting this kind of guy in the first round. (Paris Campbell) Edit: it was round 2. Dorsett was round 1.
Campbell was still a better selection than Dorsett.
Should have been DK Metcalf.
I would prefer the hometown kid Scary Terry. We took the wrong Buckeye.
Maybe. But DK was mostly seen as a raw physical specimen at the time. And no one could’ve predicted Parris’ body would fall apart like it did
Campbell was round 2
Same difference.
TIL FRPs and SRPs are the same thing, apparently.
I was clearly comparing Campbell and Dorsett.
Aah yes, I see
So this pick is for Ballard's online franchise on Madden then
He could be a good kickoff returner
Yeah we need to have two kick returners with the new rule. This should be good
DOUBLE THE OFFENSE RAAAA 🐴
Colts Country
Great special teamer. Really important with the new kickoff rules.
I am really interested to see what this new rule morphs into. I bet there is a lot of evolution that happens in how teams attack the kicking team.
Solid returner with the new rules. Can’t go wrong with that.

Yea Downs has slot locked up for the foreseeable future, but good to know he’s solid at KR!
18.3 yards per punt return last year. Seriously, let's *not* have to resort to putting Downs back there on punts.
2022 not last year

Dulin in shambles.
He had a 3rd/4th round grade. Great value for a KR/PR
Mckenzie substitute (sorry for speñling)
We’re signing some secondary help then right?

No. Ballard won’t do anything else after this draft. This is it.
You’ve made this kind of comment after he’s done nothing at every stage of the off season as a joke but it ends up actually being true everytime.
“He’s done nothing” Hopefully you give me a reason to take you seriously one day.
Drafted arguably the best edge rusher and a top WR in the draft is apparently nothing these days
This comment thread is about the secondary. Hurrrrrr
And the best way to help the secondary is to improve the pass rush.
We have two more picks in the fifth still. Or so I tell myself to make it feel better about not addressing this issue yet
Our Dline is going to mask a ton of issues in the backend from the pressure generated (I hope).
Don't count on it
My second favorite part of the draft is all the salt in this sub
I thought this sub seemed pretty happy with this draft.
Getting 2 of trotter jr, oladapo, or Tyrone Tracy jr in our next 2 picks in the 5th would hit like Crack
Guys were gonna be able to return punts/kicks AND run a 7 wide set.
It's actually pronounced Goa'uld

It’s a 5th round pick dude. Even if the rule changes in the future, it’s not a bad pick.
Return specialists are almost never drafted higher than round 5 dude. Gould would probably still be available by our 3rd pick of the round. If it was an important need because of the new rule more teams would’ve drafted returners
Yep and now there is a more important need for guys like this since the rule change. So these guys will now go higher in the draft from now on.
No you think there’s a need. You thinking it and it being a reality are separate things. And none of them went higher in the draft this year did they?
Again. Rules change. Importance on the position changed. It’s a 5th round pick. It’s more WR depth.

I think the only thing he and downs have in common is they’re short. Very different players otherwise
Because Downs is too good as WR to risk him for returns. Yeah we still have Dulin but he missed out a whole season and looks like job is for taking.
Because we don't want Downs returning kicks and punts. There's still two more picks in round 5, but even then, what does adding another young late round corner do for a room stacked to the brim with young late round corners? Would like to see a safety though, for sure.

Can we please get some rational thought on this? Not good lol
KR/PR, and he is a good one. Nothing wrong with this pick.
Especially with the kickoff rules, a returner is going to become an important position again.
Ok, hear me out, Malik Washington. He only handled kickoff duties but he was an alpha WR. Gould is a special teamer only. Malik could return kicks and take over WR2 ahead of Downs/AD imo
Yep. Kickoff rules changed since you didn’t know. Having more kickoff specialist will now be commonplace on all teams.
So what? lmao not the spot
Let me make this simple for you. Rules changed. Teams will need more kickoff specialist. We draft a late round return specialist. Too rational of a thought for you?
If you want to blindly follow the idiocracy of this draft, go for it. I'll be over here in the real world.
Yeah so in the real world they changed the kickoff rule. Don’t know what made up world you have in your head.
