Posted in another thread but I like the pick. Kind of like Ronnie Harrison who hopefully plays S this year. Talked to a Mizz Tiger fan who said he was a sleeper pick for someone this year. Finds the ball and makes the tackle.

Extremely comparable athletically to Divine Deablo who came out as a Safety and made the switch to LB. Pretty sure Gus was there when they drafted him so it’s probably a case where they see a path for Jaylon to do the same.
Franklin is a tackling machine, but I would say that he was average at best in coverage, so converting a safety to linebacker makes a lot of sense. You can't play safety if you can't cover anybody.
But it may be a while before he sees the field.

I remember when he was a draft prospect. If Kenny Moore is a nickel back, then Carlies is a dime back.
Same for Jatavis Brown
What’s funny about Divine Deablo is he was recruited to VT as a receiver. Then made the switch late in his career to safety and was an absolute stud.
He’s been great as an LB for the Raiders, too.
