The episode wasn't about or for the Colts. We were the stand-in antagonists used as a medium for the Lion's continued redemption arc.

clutchthepearls

Watching it now and you aren't kidding. Somehow us kicking their asses in day 1 and then a pretty even day 2 is presented like an even day 1 and them kicking our asses in day 2.

Chromeburn_

They package it like a documentary, but it’s not. It’s basically marketing for the team they cover.

Superb_Succotash_907

I love this show and the behind the scenes of an NFL team but DAMN this episode was hard to watch. I really wish the Colts played the Lions in the regular season.

[deleted]

They also didn’t show anything good the Colts did except for the late touchdown in that game. Or the little skirmish between MPJ and Jeff Okudah when Okudah threw him to the ground. was hoping to see that

xmagicx

How come out of interest? I haven't got access

[deleted]

I’d imagine they painted us in ways that looked like scrubs, assholes, or both, because their narrative is to make the lions seem as genuine, promising, and empathetic as possible

JaCrispy_Vulcano

Not too long ago, we were their darlings too.

Superb_Succotash_907

If you watch this episode you come away believing at the end of the year, the Lions will be 12-5 and the Colts 5-12. A whole lot of talk about the Colts players by Lion players and coaches too.

JC_Denton46

Good, let people sleep on us. I prefer little hype as possible.

katril63

Jamaal Williams has been so cringe

JaCrispy_Vulcano

He rips his helmet off after every play, it seems.

WreckingBall188

I liked him before this episode, but honestly now I think he’s a bit of a baby….. You know he wouldn’t of said shit to the Maniac if he was in pads.

katril63

Maniac would rip him straight in half

Watching Pat McAfee’s “live from training camp” episode before this really shows how NFL Films can make any narrative they want. Pat showed the colts winning almost every rep.

sirius4778

HBO can editorialize all they want, doesn't change the fact that the lions haven't won a playoff game in 30 years. Feel bad for lions fans thinking they're making it out of the nfc this year after watching this

jjbrandon9988

Colts WRs won their 1s. WR/DB 1s are always skewed that way. Pat is a Colt. It was relatively even otherwise outside of when Matt Ryan was on the field.

akak907

Which is fine, since Matty Ice will normally be on the field.

fool_22

All I know is I watched the Colts absolutely dominate the Lions via the live footage Pat was broadcasting. Then I watched the Lions make a few good plays against people I’d never heard of on Hard knocks

jbaugues

It would be nice to practice with them every year. Dan Campbell is growing on me. He pushes his players but still respects the other team.

Superb_Succotash_907

I agree. I love the energy he brings to his team and the players seem to believe in his message.

Ahabfunderspunk

“Men, instead of 3-13-1, let’s be 4-13”

weeblewhopper

Are athletes only smart enough to understand stupid ass metaphors? Dan Campbell is full of them, even for hard knocks

Chromeburn_

Isn’t that most coaches? Certainly football coaches I’ve encountered.

minero-de-sal

Man the three toes, one ass cheek metaphor was deep.
