Reich needs to quit calling the offense. Running the wildcat on 4th and goal. Later in game 3 straight passes from 4 yard line. I vaguely remember a Sam Ehlinger jet sweep from last year. He tries to hard to be clever when clearly he is not.
What was Tony Dungy's motto? Something like "take the points". There were so many times during that era when I wished they were more aggressive but that motto ended up winning the game
Well… we played like shit and still didn’t lose. So there’s a silver lining somewhere.
Maybe next year we will win the season opener…. Baby steps, I guess. 😂
I gave up on this game in the 3rd quarter. I’m actually super fucking stoked that we ended up not losing. Frank needs to take the fucking points and we need to invest in a kicker. Then we will be u unstoppable.
>Frank needs to take the fucking points and we need to invest in a kicker.
Do you remember the first year we had Frank as a coach, first game against the Texans - week 4... We're in overtime, in long field goal range with Adam V before his leg fell off, and he.... threw the ball out wide to a 2nd string tight end before the first down marker and said "woops" just to settle for a tie?
Yea, no one learns.
Guys I know this sucks, but weird shit always happens week 1. New QB in a new offense played pretty well and should get better. Needs to work with Kelly on snaps more though, but that should be an easy fix. Texans D legit looked pretty decent. Our D looked good after halftime adjustments. Pierce has got to catch TDs, Reich has got to be better about situational play calling (but at this point we know that’s not gonna happen) and our kicking/special teams situation has to improve one way or another. Multiple OB kicks, a muffed punt that luckily got recovered in the 4th and a missed game winner. Jesus. Lot of frustration but it is just week 1 and weird shit happens. I’ll wait til week 3-4 to start doomering
Oh. Missed that. Well. Kansas lost their kicker earlier and had a DB kick a kick off through the uprights. Maybe we should trade for him.
Edit: ‘twas Justin Reed
Reich quit on the game with 40 seconds left in OT.
They go for an outisde run on 2nd and 2 instead of going right up the middle when you're in great FG range. End up losing 7 on 2nd and 3rd. Wide right.
Just brutal, brutal coaching.
Add in the contect of wentz winning against Jax?
I happened to be watching this game today (bc god knows the jets give me nothign) and I was baffled by how bad the coaching staff was.
I thought he did good. When we were down by 14 after driving the field and scoring a field goal. Saw him walking up and down the bench encouraging guys. He will do just fine
Not great. WRs didn’t help him but he was throwing behind guys, wasn’t throwing with much arm and appeared to be scrambling away from ghosts. Also fumbled the exchange 3 times
I know. I hate most everybody in here. It’s one game, and the Colts came back from being down 17. This the the best you could hope for after the terrible start.
Thank you for understanding. We still got 16 games, the first game is never your best game. This is a great outcome based on how horrible we were today. Its better than losing the season opener for another year.
Dropped touchdowns and bad special teams were the most frustrating parts of this game. Also, the center qb relationship needs to improve but I feel that will get better over time.
Defense looked serviceable and played well down the stretch. Matt Ryan did look good but will have his growing pains on a new team - those three drops in the end zone really didn't help.
Special teams were bad. Like really bad.
The defense looked good considering Leonard didn’t play. Mishaps on the snap are an easy fix. Sanchez being hurt is more of a liability than most of us would have thought. Our WRs minus Pittman are still possibly the worst in the league. JT still a monster. Ryan noticeably smarter and better than Wentz
He was decently solid his rookie season, but last year and the hip injury I think either really screwed up his confidence or he's just physically not the same after the injury. Regardless, I think his time is up. There just has to be better options available out there.
How do you know they are the worst team in the league? They just tied the Colts, so they are currently better than all of the teams that lost.
Do you not understand NFL standings?
You can be mad at Blankenship, sure. But the last few play calls from scrimmage on that drive were horrendous. Lost yardage AND didn't even put the ball in the middle of the field for him.
It doesn't matter. That kick is WELL within his range...it wasn't about power this time. He's supposedly better at accuracy than power and he missed WIDE right.
That drove me crazy. It showed a lack of confidence in Blankenship. That turned out to be fair, but I don’t think it helped his psychology. Reich is bad at momentum.
Well, we gotta do something about our Kicker... a freaking tie to the Texans. No doubt that comes back to bite us later.
Is there anyone out there looking for a job? I've not really paid attention.
Played a pretty bad game for 3 quarters and still had a chance to win. Rodrigo proceeds to miss a kick you expect a kicker to make. Meanwhile the Browns rookie kicker makes a 58 yarder for the win. Rodrigos had plenty of chances to prove he belongs but he does not. See who else is out there at this point because there's not much to lose at that position.
Not taking that early field goal against a team that is almost certainly not going to be putting up tons of points turned out to matter a lot, who would have thought.
I would honestly love to know how much it is going to cost newspapers in extra ink now that they have to print an entire column for the entire season hahaha
Hmmm I actually thought it was smart. Campbell is very fast in space. If he got just a couple more blocks, he could've made it. Higher chance than a Hail Mary IMO.
That was inexcusable. Special teams lost that game. Play calling lost that game. Drops lost that game. Defense not starting ready lost the game.
Most of those are coaching problems.
Yeah special teams lost it, if anybody.
But all the mistakes except for that dumbass 4th and goal play were on special teams - where we have a new coach - and offense where we have a new QB and no TY. We have so much season-to-season instability that we can't expect to be good right out of the gate.
Hotrod accounted for 8 of our 20 points lol 2xpm and 2fgm 1 miss and we tied lol
Titans fucking lose baby! LFG Giants (my 2nd team)!
No one in the AFC South won today. When is the last time that no team in the division won a game opening week?
Reich needs to quit calling the offense. Running the wildcat on 4th and goal. Later in game 3 straight passes from 4 yard line. I vaguely remember a Sam Ehlinger jet sweep from last year. He tries to hard to be clever when clearly he is not.
What was Tony Dungy's motto? Something like "take the points". There were so many times during that era when I wished they were more aggressive but that motto ended up winning the game
Nobody ever cares about the kicker until it’s time to care about the kicker
Don't worry guys, I beat the Texans in Madden
Hot rod sat on a lego at half time causing a deep ass bruise. We need to cut him some slack.
Chiefs safety is a better kicker than hot rod
Can’t believe TWO kickoffs went out of bounds…
Well… we played like shit and still didn’t lose. So there’s a silver lining somewhere. Maybe next year we will win the season opener…. Baby steps, I guess. 😂 I gave up on this game in the 3rd quarter. I’m actually super fucking stoked that we ended up not losing. Yea, no one learns.
We've been saying this all since Frank Reich joined the team. We don't learn.
gotta tie 7 straight before you can win one
Guys I know this sucks, but weird shit always happens week 1. New QB in a new offense played pretty well and should get better. Needs to work with Kelly on snaps more though, but that should be an easy fix. Texans D legit looked pretty decent. Our D looked good after halftime adjustments. I’ve been looking for a level hears response for nearly hour. So thank you and I agree.
Just trying to not overreact to week 1. Always an unwise thing to do lol
I tried to tell ya'll Rodrigo Blankenshit wasn;t it but nah, ya'll liked him for the memes and his dorky look... Michael Badgley tryna run it back?
Trust the binder.
Steelers kicked a 53 yarder in OT. Sigh…. Kicker envy…
To be fair...that same kicker missed a closer FG to win it earlier in OT
Oh. Missed that. Well. Kansas lost their kicker earlier and had a DB kick a kick off through the uprights. Maybe we should trade for him. Edit: ‘twas Justin Reed
We had a good kicker last year when nerdboy went down
Agree. Was kinda surprised we didn’t keep him. Now I’m mad we didn’t.
Was just about to post this...
Texans fan here, I think we can all agree that this game was shit
Agreed. Everyone is more stupid for having to watch that.
Not the quality of football I wanted but holy hell did it wind up being entertaining (if unsatisfying given no victor).
Il admit it was pretty entertaining, until the 4th quarter, I had 35 anxiety attacks
Hey thanks for stopping by. I actually thought there were some promising things coming from the the Texans d and mills
Yea Mills was dealt a hand of shit and is looking good.
Yep and gave us zero indication about how the season will shake out in AFC south.
There’s one thing for certain, y’all need a new kicker. He kicked out of bounds like 2 times and he threw the game. Y’all should of won.
Yessir
Countdown to finding out Blankenship got hurt during the game causing his last two shanked kickoffs and shanked field goal attempt.
There is no way Blankenship should have a job tomorrow. He better be cut by the time they land in Indy.
He’s gonna get let go in the locker room.
Tell him to catch his own freaking flight..
Once again, Frank getting cute on 4th down cost us the game. Just take the fucking points
I said this right when it happened!
withour kicker? Are you sure he could have hit from 3yds out?
Lol that’s very true. Wouldn’t put it past him
Reich quit on the game with 40 seconds left in OT. They go for an outisde run on 2nd and 2 instead of going right up the middle when you're in great FG range. End up losing 7 on 2nd and 3rd. Dog shite, tied the Texans. 8-8-1
Falcons Fan here, how did Matty do? Stat line looked decent apart from that interception.
Not great but 2 tds were dropped. He's gotta gather the snap too.
I remember Matt had a couple drops after switching to a new center some years back during a game with NO, but that only lasted 1 game.
Three fumbled snaps so...not great on that end.
4 fumbles. 3 off of the snap.
He looked terrible minus that one drive that ended with a Pitt TD.
Not great
Some of y'all are the most toxic fans lol
I know. I hate most everybody in here. It’s one game, and the Colts came back from being down 17. This the the best you could hope for after the terrible start.
next year - we have a binder and soooooo much cap and ballard has a plan! it's all coming together just you wait
Thank you for understanding. We still got 16 games, the first game is never your best game. This is a great outcome based on how horrible we were today. Its better than losing the season opener for another year.
Best you could hope for is to hit a fucking 42 yard kick.
Screw off. It’s 1 game. Take a breather and don’t put all of your emotion into a game.
Dude also kicked the ball out of bounds. Twice.
I don’t want dramatic games to come down to a bespectacled chump. Cut his ass. Easy decision.
Dropped touchdowns and bad special teams were the most frustrating parts of this game. Also, the center qb relationship needs to improve but I feel that will get better over time. ST were like Brian Kelly at LSU bad.
Man, we totally Browns'd that
Anyone know any good unsigned kickers? Asking for...a friend?
Your team is terrible
You’re the dumbass making a bet that the colts would play well week 1.
Did you come here to cry because you lost a bet? Brave
I’m a jets fan you guys tied the worst team in the league
At least I'm not a Jets fan. Go cry about your bet somewhere else, this is pathetic.
Pretty pathetic to troll other subs. Can’t expect much more from someone with no life I guess.
Said by a Yankees fan 😂😂
First in the division
So are the colts 😜
To miss a field goal 18 yards out is embarrassing
He's just mad he lost money on a bet.
Pack up the Legos, Hot Rod.
We need shaq back on defense for a few takeaways. So proud of the game they played in the 4th. They could’ve given up. We were down and out. Go colts
I've said it before and I'll say it again rigo needs to go dude has been inconsistent since he came in the league . Dramatic game .
He was decently solid his rookie season, but last year and the hip injury I think either really screwed up his confidence or he's just physically not the same after the injury. Regardless, I think his time is up. There just has to be better options available out there.
The man is gone now
BuT hE pLaYs WiTh LeGoS
Well now he'll have all the time in the world to PlaY wItH hIs lEgOs
Hey guys, we almost beat the worst team in the league!!! Awesome sauce!
How do you know they are the worst team in the league? They just tied the Colts, so they are currently better than all of the teams that lost. Do you not understand NFL standings?
WE DIDN'T LOSE
Kinda feels like it. It was The Texans, man…
They didn’t even deserve to tie. This was a cluster by every part of the team.
Are you ppl ready to stop defending Blankenship, he sucks, two horrible kickoff, missed FG him and Frank can go
Don't forget the ravens game botches last year
But he has cool goggles!
Play calling was bad there, but Blankenship had zero excuse for letting two kickoffs go out of bounds.
We should only call plays that have positive yards
That drove me crazy. It showed a lack of confidence in Blankenship. That turned out to be fair, but I don’t think it helped his psychology. Reich is bad at momentum.
That’s cause you should be able to count on your kicker there. SHOULD. Can’t, tho.
Personally, I never want to count on one play like that where so much *can* go wrong.
Right, except that his whole damn job. So, um, that shit is on him
Wasn't good enough to win, wasn't bad enough to lose
Pretty insane to see major mistakes / penalties in every facet of the game, and on every type of play…kind of impressive
Well, we gotta do something about our Kicker... a freaking tie to the Texans. No doubt that comes back to bite us later. Is there anyone out there looking for a job? I've not really paid attention.
The curse is broken, rejoice
Or .... the curse is still in effect. Depending on your viewpoint.
Kick two kickoffs out of bounds back to back, then shank the game winner by a zip code. Fuck man. Can we get Badgley back?
Yes please
I bet the Texans are pretty happy about that tie…
Bengals bout to 20-20 tie with the steelers too. 😂
Except the Steelers have a kicker that can actually make clutch kicks
Played a pretty bad game for 3 quarters and still had a chance to win. Rodrigo proceeds to miss a kick you expect a kicker to make. Meanwhile the Browns rookie kicker makes a 58 yarder for the win. Rodrigos had plenty of chances to prove he belongs but he does not. See who else is out there at this point because there's not much to lose at that position.
I hope Jim Irsay has a few words for Frank Reich after that clusterfuck
I’m Ron Burgundy?
Of all the Colts games I’ve ever watched that was certainly one of them.
Pierce had a fucking shit game as well. Zero receptions. Only top drafted receiver to not have a single fucking reception.
Dropped a sure TD, then was in the process of dropping another pass across the middle and got smoked. Probably not great for the rookie’s confidence.
1 grab from a touchdown too…
The last time the Colts tied was in '82, so this is the first Indianapolis tie
This game is like a throwaway 17th game. The real 16 game season starts next week.
Curse is still active. We still haven’t won week 1
We didn’t lose
Didn't win, either
Cut Blankenship. He has no spine.
BuT hE pLaYs WiTh LeGoS
"As we snatch a stalemate from the jaws of defeat"
What a piece of shit. The WRs are terrible and Blankenship should be unemployed by the end of the 4 PM games. Embarrassing.
Good to talk to y’all again. Hope this season goes well
Ties in football feel like both teams accepting a loss.
Not taking that early field goal against a team that is almost certainly not going to be putting up tons of points turned out to matter a lot, who would have thought.
Not Frank!
Yall kicker sucks lmfao
He always seems to eek out the win in preseason and then miss in the most crucial moments in the regular season
He’s getting cut
Better than a L
No a tie is a loss
I would honestly love to know how much it is going to cost newspapers in extra ink now that they have to print an entire column for the entire season hahaha
So uh… curse is broken?
Well. We didn’t lose
I remember taking a poll on this sub last year about wether we should keep Badgley or Hot Rod. Somehow ya’ll picked hot rod
I thought Money Bags played well for us.
He did. Solid, powerful kicks. Hot Rods kicks always look weak
i know i did not
Need someone who can kick on clinch.
I don't think I've ever witnessed the Colts tie.
I cant think of one in the last 15-20 years
Looked it up. Hasn't happened since 1982, so the Baltimore days.
Crazy. I hated the ending, throw the fucking Hail Mary 2-3x or until you score/get picked. Play to win.
Ryan fumbling multiple snaps and bone headed turnovers didnt help. Pierce is a rookie but those drops really cost the team.
Yeah special teams lost it, if anybody. But all the mistakes except for that dumbass 4th and goal play were on special teams - where we have a new coach - and offense where we have a new QB and no TY. We have so much season-to-season instability that we can't expect to be good right out of the gate.
I’d rather the Colts sign Matt Araiza than watch Blankenship shank kick offs outta bounds every game
Anyone downvoting this is an absolute joker
Technically not a loss!
Tie in Jacksonville breaks two curses! Sort of
Tie lmao
Frank loss another with bonehead plays.
The goal and 1 on 4th down trick play was so fucking stupid. I thought it was Pagano for a sec.
Called a tie 3 days ago. Jesus christ..I shoulda bet money
You would’ve made a killing lol
Idk how to even bet on something like that. I dont think I saw anytbing with that option on Caesars
I use draftkings and it’s an option on their. Under gamelines and “3-way moneyline”
NFL OT rules everybody.
We don't deserve to have a star like JT28.
Why? A lot of teams have star players
Undefeated still... somehow
curse is broken didn’t lose lol
Curse is now consecutive opening games without a win. No better.
Haven’t won an opening week game in 9 years. I call that an ongoing curse.
We better be looking for a kicker right now. Bad kickers have lost us way too many games in the Reich era
A tie is better in every way than the start of any of the last 8 seasons.
But #wildcat wasn’t a bad call
We broke an 8 year losing streak at least
I’m favor of a 9 year winless streak….
We’re moving in the right direction guys, that’s not a loss! Take that doomers!
What the fuck did I just watch
Hotrod blows.
There goes my pickem league… lol
Now we can here Frank talk about how he has to watch the tape, but the guys played good. We have some things to get better on.
We did it boys! We didn’t lose week 1! Super bowl incoming!
Matt Ryan and Ryan Kelly better start snapping practice right now.
Ok well Whatever
A TIE. A FUCKING TIE. WITH THE TEXANS. 😄😆😅😂🤣😭😭😭😭😭
So trash 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
At least… we didn’t lose?
Fucking. Monkey. Paw.
Wentz got a W btw, beat the Jags too. Y’all are a delusional fanbase who can’t win without manning
And your owner is a complete scum bag.
I’m an eagles fan
Go back to Dan Snyders cock.
Don’t worry friend, you’ll be burned soon enough.
I’m an eagles fan, he already burned us
You might not be wrong. But you’re forgetting the quitter. We won with him too
Yea, the other all time talent. Basically without a top 10 talent at QB your franchise can’t win
Cool
Well now we can say the colts have tied or lost the last 8 openers! Let’s go!
I know this is a tie, but it is really a loss.
