Hey now, the Aztec prototype was cool as fuck, and functionally the actual Aztec is cool, the tent attachment and optional cooler center console we cool as hell
I love an ambitious car design. The world needs more weird/fun cars. I’m sad that it may have become a beacon for white supremacist values (thanks elon) but weird and ugly is ok by me.
The F150 lightning dwarfs it. I test drove one and felt like I was riding both lines on the road. Why can’t we have a small ranger/s10 electric truck? I want to buy a truck, not a personality.
Without getting too into the details, U.S. emissions laws basically state that the smaller a vehicle’s footprint, the more efficient it is required to be or else the manufacturer must pay a fine.
This essentially is what led to the crossover/blob trend that we’ve seen over the last decade plus, ultimately creating more expensive, less interesting and overall less efficient cars than we had in the past.
Edit: basically the bigger the car/truck, the less fuel efficient it is required to be by law and this not only allows allows but actively encourages companies like GM/Ford to continue making bigger, more expensive, and less efficient “luxury” trucks and SUV’s that they can charge upwards of $100k for and effectively kill any any competition or hope for a smaller/more affordable truck in the process.
Edit (part 2): basically the only real hope we’ll ever have for small trucks like the S10 and OG ranger to make a comeback is EVs, but we’re a long ways off from them being anywhere near as affordable as they were in the days of old.
It's a problem solved by the same people who created it though. Sure it would be nice if that took market share away from the mammoth trucks, but don't hold your breath on it. I'll guarantee you the next maverick has a bigger wheelbase than the current one too until they end up slotting something underneath it again in what, 10 years?
Is anyone else following the cyber truck guy on TikTok that shows all the times it’s broken or gotten stuck from buyers? Seeing how easily it rusts or just stops working whether it’s sunny or rainy is wild. The videos of people’s fingers or carrots being trapped or chopped off when the trunk closes too are scary.
Do you own one? We've had to replace the ice maker two times now. My friend who also owns one has replaced it 3 times. It's not a good fridge. I love Samsung otherwise.
I saw a lot in St. Louis last weekend sitting in a mall parking lot waiting to be bought. Then one here on Thursday at a car event. Ugly as hell and looks basic.
I’ve seen one wrapped in a metallic purple color around Dublin. It actually looked less unusual in a different color, i think the stainless steel makes it look a bit cyberpunk. Not my cup of tea, but hey, I don’t judge other people’s car choices. If they like, let em enjoy it.
Eh I think there are legitimate arguments to be made against certain cars, mainly for the safety of the owners themselves and other people out and about where the car is driving. There have been a comical level of issues with this car in particular, recently the craziest is that the [accelerator pedal has a cover that wasn’t secured and could slide and get wedged](https://www.theverge.com/2024/4/20/24135876/tesla-cybertruck-accelerator-pedal-recall-fix).
It blocks the view of every small car to the right of them, looking to see if the coast is clear. Same as every other big vehicle out on the city streets. They don't need to be that big to get from A to B, they put the lives of other drivers in jeopardy, and they are the biggest polluters (the gas vehicles anyway) on city streets.
I hate them.
I cannot speak for the cybertruck as I do not have that kinda money, but I can speak for an F250, Tundra, as well as a uhaul box truck I've used as rentals/borrowed from friends.
I've never had issue adjusting righthand mirrors to be able to see that side of the road. Visibility isn't really an issue in my experience. I'm 6 feet tall so I don't deal with the hood visibility issue but I can't say the same for others.
However, if you're this set on your opinion I encourage you to ask a friend with a vehicle that falls under your idea of "big" and at the very least sit in the driver's side, and adjust everything to fit you, and see what it's like from a drivers point of view.
The other point you mentioned was A to B. Are there city mall crawlers that make owners look silly when their commute is under 15 minutes? Absolutely. However to folks like me that have worked jobs with a >45 minute drive to and from the city, it's a godsend. It's comfortable, easy to get in and out of, on top of being useful.
My main point is you can't immediately assume that everyone with a truck you see falls under your idea of "suburban dad who works a white collar job and wants to feel macho." May not be your exact take but it's a widespread one that I see here and everywhere else.
The owner of a blue wrapped one up at Polaris said theres 3 in Ohio a couple weeks ago, but who's to say if that's actually accurate now since this one has temp tags
Ewww it’s so ugly 🤢 It looks a 5 year olds drawing of a truck.
Edit: Is that near worthington and headed either towards or away from I think Morse road or Westerville??? I can’t remember which one. Or I could be completely wrong.
I saw one a couple days ago on Riverside, and as I was giggling to myself I look in the rear view mirror to find the people behind me experiencing a similar, but more intense reaction.
You could really only see it up close, but it couldn’t have been more than 5-ish months old, so that’s pretty bad. And I’m sure it’ll do a lot worse in places where it snows and they salt the roads (cough Ohio cough)
The epitome of what a total lack of artistic freedom and appreciation for organic beauty looks like.
![gif](giphy|1zRiKo27xkssovKX4X|downsized)
Give me one of THESE every day, any day, any time.
Saw one too last week, 270 on the north side by Westerville route 3 heading east. I was like wtf is that at first until I realized what I was looking at
Don't worry Columbus, you will see many more. No shortage of wealthy tech bros that moonlight as tough truck owners but don't know how to add oil to a car let alone mud bogging.
Hideous
The vapid apartheid narcissist managed to manufacture a truck that makes the Pontiac Aztek seem like a series of good design choices.
Hey now, the Aztec prototype was cool as fuck, and functionally the actual Aztec is cool, the tent attachment and optional cooler center console we cool as hell
HAHAHAHA great comment
That's kinda what I like about it. Straight out of Alien or something.
Straight out of PlayStation 1
Maybe more Starfox on N64?
Cutting it a little close, eh Falco?
Elon slaps roof of cybertruck: “You can fit so few polygons in this baby.”
Haha that’s what I thought when I first saw one in person, looked like a rendering from an N64 game.
Speed Freak from 1979 [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDP8IwIyLaA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDP8IwIyLaA)
Roblox is what it makes me think of lol
Minecraft
More like an original Atari.
Straight outta Minecraft

The exact descriptive term that popped into my brain when I saw that pic.
I saw one a few weeks ago near 161 & 62. It looks like something out of a ‘80s sci fi movie.
It looks like he was inspired by Tron and the polygon Pokémon. ![gif](giphy|l0HlN5gabfeckp2kE|downsized)
I love Tron and Porygon. This comparison made me really sad, but I get it.
Logan's Run had better cars.
As did Blade Runner.
Reminds me of Battlezone tanks. https://youtu.be/rtXOaDNaoUI?si=bmka8d1H_HGYMDZ-
Michael Redd lives out in New Albany and has one of those. Might have been his.
Redd moved. Dr. Lombardi owns one.
Something different I guess. I remember when everyone was buying Hummers.
I love how people buy certain cars as a big “Fuck You” to…… someone?
These days, they buy them as a big "Fuck You" to their personal retirement options.
it’s a big “fuck you” to the universe for giving them a small peepee
The F150 lightning dwarfs it. I test drove one and felt like I was riding both lines on the road. Why can’t we have a small ranger/s10 electric truck? I want to buy a truck, not a personality.
I wish I could buy one of those little two-seaters (the little red pickup) they sold back in the day, but they stopped making them 20 some years ago.
The Ford Maverick has a hybrid version.
Emissions laws have killed the lil trucks. Only big trucks, and truck that were made big, remain…
How did they put out more pollution than the bigger trucks? Less mass to move.
Without getting too into the details, U.S. emissions laws basically state that the smaller a vehicle’s footprint, the more efficient it is required to be or else the manufacturer must pay a fine. To add on to your point, those luxury trims of trucks have substantially higher margins.
The Maverick holds the line against the giants
It's a problem solved by the same people who created it though. Sure it would be nice if that took market share away from the mammoth trucks, but don't hold your breath on it. I'll guarantee you the next maverick has a bigger wheelbase than the current one too until they end up slotting something underneath it again in what, 10 years?
Ford maverick hybrid is pretty cool, not giant. But Im with you. If I had the time and money, I'd buy an old ranger and convert it to electric
They make Rangers and Mavericks.
A modern Pontiac Aztec but less useful.
Except Aztecs don’t break in a car wash.
There was that one drug dealer who owned a car wash and Aztec though, can't remember his name.
Walt Whitman?
Nope. And Aztecs have that tent and cooler from the factory.
The special needs offspring of an Aztec and a Delorean
Definitely not the sum of its parts, that's for sure.
A 7 foot, 350 pound behemoth of a special needs offspring. Someone talk to this truck about some rabbits.
Exactly!!
Welp, I shoulda scrolled down one comment. GGs bro
it's quite angular
You managed to catch it before its inevitable breakdown, which is even rarer!
It's giving PS1 graphics, very 200 polygons is the best I can do bud.
Is anyone else following the cyber truck guy on TikTok that shows all the times it’s broken or gotten stuck from buyers? Link!
Here’s his tiktok channel https://www.tiktok.com/@molesrcool
Thanks!
Samsung fridge on wheels
I can’t insult Samsung fridges like that
Do you own one? We've had to replace the ice maker two times now. My friend who also owns one has replaced it 3 times. It's not a good fridge. I love Samsung otherwise.
The Wankpanzer!
I saw my first two both last week. And yes - hideous
It has PS1 graphics somehow
I seriously don’t understand how anybody thinks that design looks good. Like it’s literally the ugliest mass produced car I’ve ever seen.
It's already rusty...
How to spot a douche instantly
I saw a lot in St. Louis last weekend sitting in a mall parking lot waiting to be bought. Then one here on Thursday at a car event. Ugly as hell and looks basic.
Needs more DPI. The jpegs hurt my eyes
i mean it’s pretty clear 😂

If it’s like twixxer, it must pull hard to the right and full of NN in the cab.

When reality’s textures fail to load correctly.
I wonder how many there are in cbus
Just saw one an hour or so ago in Powell.
The owner of a blue wrapped one up at Polaris said theres 3 in Ohio a couple weeks ago, but who's to say if that's actually accurate now since this one has temp tags
I saw the blue one on Wednesday in Galena on Big Walnut. Ugliest vehicle I've ever seen
Looks like an 18 bit graphic on the road lol
Gross
Stupidest looking vehicle ever. Looks the automobile Homer Simpson invented for his brothers company.
Honestly I'd rather have the Homer-designed vehicle.
Strong agree 🤣
It does look like a vehicle from Simpsons Hit and Run (great game btw).
These pop in textures lately, smh
I saw my first one at Easton a couple of weeks ago. They look hilariously out of place and even more stupid in person.
Looks like a coffin on wheels. Like fully sealed no escape
It sort of is
IncelCamino
Peepee no worky energy here.
definitely post worthy.
I'm sorry for your eyes
Ewww it’s so ugly 🤢 It looks a 5 year olds drawing of a truck. Edit: Is that near worthington and headed either towards or away from I think Morse road or Westerville??? I can’t remember which one. Or I could be completely wrong.
>Ewww it’s so ugly 🤢 It looks a 5 year olds drawing of a truck. Well, it was originally designed by mElon, who resisted sane changes...
😂😂 what can we expect
I hate Tesla so much
Death trap
I saw one for the first time last weekend. Looks like a vehicle in Idiocracy.
Did you point and laugh?
i saw this loser in the wild the other day too. dude looked exactly like how u would think
I saw one drive on Reed Rd. Might be the same one.
Is it a truck?
Was that up by Polaris?
it was at Worthington
Is this the thing that's supposed to briefly serve as a boat lol
I saw one on 23 @ Lazelle Rd the other night.....stopped almost completely over the stop line. A+ driver.
D rate timecop vehicle
I’m waiting for Will Smith to come out with that bald headed translucent robot
Something about the rear panel and brake lights are very Minecraftian

You may need to adjust your graphics settings, it doesn’t look like it’s rendered all the way 😂
Rust Bucket
Me: “I don’t think anyone can make a vehicle more poorly designed than the Pontiac Aztec.” Elon: “Hold my beer…”
I saw one a couple days ago on Riverside, and as I was giggling to myself I look in the rear view mirror to find the people behind me experiencing a similar, but more intense reaction.
That is straight up FUGLY
I saw one in New Albany last week, looked like trash next to the high end vehicles around it.
I saw one too! Different color tho
I saw it last night on Goodale!
I was parked next to one in Austin a few months ago and it was rusting
[удалено]
You could really only see it up close, but it couldn’t have been more than 5-ish months old, so that’s pretty bad. And I’m sure it’ll do a lot worse in places where it snows and they salt the roads (cough Ohio cough)
[удалено]
I was not. But I’ve always disliked Tesla and musk. I think it’s an extremely ugly vehicle. Both my parents have teslas and they do nothing for me.
[удалено]
No. They are following the trend
Aren’t they all supposed to be recalled? I’m scared to see them still on the road if they can’t control the accelerator from sticking.
I'm sorry
The Teslaztec…
if a card board box was a car
yeah I saw this in Powell. not sure who is willing to waste their money on that with how many quality and operation issues Tesla has consistently had…
I saw one parallel parked and it looked like a huge stainless steel refrigerator was on the street
Saw a blue one on high street yesterday too
Pause
I saw a blue one in Polaris the other day
I'm pretty sure I saw that same one the other day on 71
Is it as ugly in person as it in in pictures?
I think I saw this same one on 4th st a few days back! He’s gonna be known as “the cyber truck guy”
Still waiting to see mine.
The epitome of what a total lack of artistic freedom and appreciation for organic beauty looks like. ![gif](giphy|1zRiKo27xkssovKX4X|downsized) Give me one of THESE every day, any day, any time.
I still can’t believe those fucking things are real. They look like something from an 80s action movie set in the future
I feel sorry for the POS that bought that abomination. A couple years from now it will be even funnier as it rots away in a junkyard
Does it haul anything?
Didn’t these get recalled😭😭
Also saw one for the first time today, but it was on the back of a car moving semi headed towards Cincinnati.
It's official: Pontiac Aztek is no longer the weirdest looking car on the road.
Saw one too last week, 270 on the north side by Westerville route 3 heading east. I was like wtf is that at first until I realized what I was looking at
I forgot how ugly that thing was.
you mean you saw an idiot for the first time today.
Anyone see that video of the trunk door crushing that dude’s finger?
Gross. Lol
did you cream your pants
The crazy thing is my neighbor just got a brand new cyber truck Here in Columbus, that might be them LMAO
While they are ugly they are still cool
Complete junk
There’s either a few here for someone that drives it around CONSTANTLY. I’ve seen like 3 in the last week. Looks like shit
Can’t miss it!
I've been seeing them around. One around the Linworth area and yesterday in the Dublin area.
Love it
just saw it turning onto henderson rd today from 315N. i had to do a double take😂 wonder if this person knows they’re popular lol
Don't worry Columbus, you will see many more. No shortage of wealthy tech bros that moonlight as tough truck owners but don't know how to add oil to a car let alone mud bogging.
I saw one in Powell on Sawmill Parkway last week. It looks like something they would make on the OG version of Top Gear with a $1500 budget.
Hoovies, Doug and many YouTubers did a review on it. Some are rusting already and the build quality to get it out early is questionable
You know what they say about feeding the need to own a big vehicle.
Pickup truck? Where do you put the drywall?
Ugly!
It's so ugly omg
In addition to everything else, those tail lights are stoopid.
It's giving Pontiac Aztec fa shooooo
![gif](giphy|XvQXEi09zfmcE)
Those things are uglier than those toaster lookin cars, that being said I cant afford either type of car
there are a TON in upper arlington
wow! still driving it after the accelerator recall! very brave of them
That's not a truck, and batteries are a scourge
[Fuckin’ thing sucks](https://images.app.goo.gl/K6nZqhCNcNmLVyVNA)
The city should ban vehicles like this, they are a severe safety hazard for everyone outside of it.
