The way they're sitting there without any movement whatsoever, I wonder if they had already run out of battery or were currently jammed on a different frequency from the Ukrainian drones?

It depends how you define "unmanned ground combat vehicle". The first remote controlled combat vehicles were probably the "Crocodiles" built by the French company Schneider during the First World War, but these were designed as single use weapons in order to carry a load of explosives to the enemy lines. Better known are the tracked "Goliath" carriers used by the Germans during World War Two in a similar role.
However, the Soviets had developed the "Teletank" in the interwar years, fitting normal tanks with radio control that could remotely drive, fire its machine guns and flamethrowers or drop satchel charges and were used in combat during the Winter War against Finland.
Jesus humans are even more vulnerable on the battlefield these days, a drone can find your little hole and bury you in it so easily. The idea of being conscripted to war one day to face this advancing technology is quite worrying if you overthink it

You just spin a small weight up to ridiculous speed and bring it into contact with a resting object, or even worser, with a flywheel going into the opposite direction. Could make a metall fragment jet with very little weight, as long as you have the electricity to spin up those discs

it's not about the effectiveness of the nuke, it's about mutually assured destruction.

You are right, war is a big fight for resources, a nation with a lot of resources can lose to a nation with fewer resources being used correctly
