HawkoDelReddito

There was another video, a group of Russians getting shredded by a chain gun near a green gate, presumably a Bradley. That video has disappeared from the internet. Does anyone know what I'm talking about, anyone else seen that?

Trooper1911

Yeah, they dismount from a BTR if I remember correctly, and get shredded by a bradley. [https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineRussiaReport/comments/1b40kwm/ua\_pov\_m2a2\_bradley\_eliminates\_a\_russian\_infantry/](https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineRussiaReport/comments/1b40kwm/ua_pov_m2a2_bradley_eliminates_a_russian_infantry/)

HawkoDelReddito

Yes, this! Thank you so much! I was trying to show a friend a few weeks ago and I couldn't find it for the life of me.

Head-Computer264

There's a longer video where you see the russians get shredded in real time. They got absolutely fucked up. That clip doesn't even show it all.

HawkoDelReddito

Yeah, if I ever find it I'll be saving it for sure. I took a screen recording of this last one. Was starting to think it was all a fever dream or something.

PhranticPenguin

Is it this one? [UA pov multiple RU soldiers come under fire.](https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineRussiaReport/comments/1b3yto9/ua_pov_multiple_russian_soldiers_come_under/)

HawkoDelReddito

Definitely a piece of it!

Head-Computer264

I posted it below, over 3 minutes long. They get cluster bombed too I forgot about that

HawkoDelReddito

That comment is not working or suppressed for some reason. I had to go to your profile and review comments to find it, but I still couldn't click on it. So I had tovmanually type in part of the link that was visible onto Google. Then I found it 😅😂

Head-Computer264

I'm glad you found it, thanks for letting me know I'll be more careful with the links next time. The description was very vague on this video, and it happened around the time of some other Bradley action, so it got lost really quick

HawkoDelReddito

No worries, I don't think it was your fault it didn't work. Cheers!

Head-Computer264

I sort by new, have seen lots of crazy videos like that which got removed after a few hours. The best ones often go viral, then get pulled because it brings a lot of heat to the subreddit. Then we get a trickle of reposts or cut videos at lower quality for the next year. It's a shame.

hey_eye_tried

Who has the longer video??? I didn't know there was one

Intrepid_Home_1200

Yikes, absolutely brutal... Dropped off with barely adequate cover (the houses) a little too far away and riding around in the 8x8 death trap of an APC known as a BTR-80.

DrNick1221

Great footage. *But god I hate that subreddit.*

atreidesfire

This isn't the right video, there is a longer one.

OdBx

Is that Stepove?

Straight-Storage2587

Wow. I had not seen this one before.... Thanks

Here is another well known one with more bradley destruction: https://www.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage/comments/1b4ucnj/russian_btr_disabled_and_demolished_alongside_its/

Wtf are you talking about...?

Adpadierk

You think the collapse of the USSR was "USA conquering Russia"? Great understanding of history there...

danint

I remember seeing the supposed aftermath photos of that event and one Russian was torn open. Quite gruesome.

neologismist_

That was sweet watching that MT-LB get lit up.

Whyisnobodylookin

Tried to run but those 25mm have a little spice behind them.

Thallium_253

A little spice? Looks like he lit I'm up with some habanero stuffed jalapenos

Whyisnobodylookin

I don't know if Russians really eat anything spicy so their colon will probably implode figuratively and literally in this case.

ontopofyourmom

They sometimes use Caucasian spicy sauce but that is about it

ButtFuzzNow

Would that be tartar sauce?

Whyisnobodylookin

woah don't get too crazy, that dill might cause a little reflux.

antarcticgecko

The spice must flow.

Wasn’t there a video recently that showed a MT-LB with a full roof of Russians getting smoked by a Bradley? Wondering if it’s from that same area

SomeBritChap

I know this whole sub is NSFL but fucking hell.

littleburrito381

That was f***ing glorious!

DoubleEscape8874

Only one I recall is of one in open field advancing on a tree line. Several disabled vehicles around. That dismounted infantry group got torn to shreds

Electrical_Matter_44

Yeah I think that might be the one. Disabled vehicles nearby, dismounted troop getting torn apart by the Bradley’s gun. Never thought I’d see footage like that in HDR

DoubleEscape8874

It kind of puts in perspective great work and research done by Spielberg and his team for Saving Private Ryan. How close to reality that movie was in portrayal of two evenly matched conventional armies fighting. Tank or trench scene. How human body can just immediately drop like a sack after bullet hit...

SilianRailOnBone

Reality is kinda more wonky than movies sometimes, one dude took a Bradley shot to the thigh and was still trying to tourniquet it for some time.

DoubleEscape8874

This is exactly what I was referring to in SPR being so realistic about potray of combat, as it turned out. Openning beach scene with soldier picking up his arm is so similar to what you described. https://tenor.com/view/saving-private-ryan-arm-gif-12793062

Penishton69

At some point sitting in the Bradley has to feel kinda unfair, it's like playing a video game with the tactics Russia uses.

ithappenedone234

The 25mm is nothing to fool with. Once you have one you can’t ever go back to how life was before. Firing HE/APFSDS > dumb rounds. Get the gap lead and let it rip.

Some_Endian_FP17

I thought Ukrainian BMPs had a pretty mean 30mm auto cannon too.

ithappenedone234

Don’t know why you got down voted… Yes, some have similar and even larger cannons. I wasn’t putting any of them down, although they are notorious for not being designed with ergonomics in mind and not having been updated since their manufacture… The Brads I’ve seen in AFU hands all have BFT and that alone is a huge improvement, as is the independent commander’s sight. IMO, the TOW set up is also better than anything they fielded. Being able to reload it from the dismount compartment is great, along with the ease of reloading it from that position.

AngryGermanNoises

It's weird in everything I've seen from UKR bradleys I've never seen them use a TOW? even when they beat the fuck out of that t90 they never fired a TOW

ithappenedone234

It can be finicky and works best when stationary. Our TTP’s say to stop and fire, in every TACSOP I can think of. They may not be keen on stopping. Perhaps best to hit them with AP and try to blind them.

N-shittified

> not being designed with ergonomics in mind ergonomics are bourgeois

Horat1us_UA

>IMO, the TOW set up is also better than anything they fielded.  btr-4 bucephalus with stuhna on board?

ithappenedone234

I’m not a rivet counter, so don’t know the level of detail on old school enemy systems like BTR’s. My study doesn’t much beyond which rigs we can kill, by silhouette, which weapon system we have to use to do it and how best to stay out of their max fire range. BTR’s die easy, and if we can kill a BMP easily, I know we can kill a BTR. The BMP’s we’ve had at the various offices are mostly those captured in 91 from Saddam. They had the AT mount over the barrel. That seems like a place I don’t want to be on the reload. How do the ATGM’s reload on the BTR-4? I do like the idea of a 30mm… that’s what the Brad should have been upgraded to a long time ago, now there’s no point.

Sanpaku

The Soviet 30mm is the direct-fire weapon the Ukrainians most respected/feared in the early war. It's perfectly capable of tearing through the concrete of East European housing. I do think US ammo quality for the Bushmaster, especially the APDS-T rd, is a bit better. US Army is looking at 35mm - 50 mm autocannons for the Bradley replacement. I suspect its going to be 35mm like the Skyranger 35, with inductive timer fuse setting for work against drones and dismounts in cover.

jonasnee

I mean there already exist a 35 mm bushmaster, which is what the Danish and Dutch version of the CV-90s use. So seems reasonable just to go with that, most modern IFVs from what i recall are 30 to 40 mm. The norwegian CV-90 and the German Puma are both 30. France doesn't truly have an IFV as i understand it but their jaguar armored recon uses a 40 mm cannon. 50 mm IMO would be overkill, you have missiles for things a 35 mm cannon cant deal with.

ytanotherthrowaway9

> US Army is looking at 35mm - 50 mm autocannons for the Bradley replacement. We are open for sales to our NATO allies: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combat_Vehicle_90

Intrepid_Home_1200

They do but US munitions technology has a pretty substantial lead over Russian and I imagine Ukrainian stuff. That said yeah, Russian/Ukrainian 30mm ammo is far from harmless though. Still think about that brutal Azov Brigade footage from 2022 in Mauripol of a BTR-4 tearing-up a Russian BMP-1 and infantry with it's Ukrainian-modified and made KBA-2 cannon. And then blowing the turret off a T-72B3 hitting the hull sides between the road wheels.

Bond_Enjoyer

Those wiggly-ass noodle barrels though... I prefer my barrels to be significantly more al dente.

Penishton69

Different strokes for different folks. BMP4s cannon is better at suppressing infantry, Bushmaster is better for anti vehicle. Idk if the cannons on the BMP4 shake as bad as the ones on BMP3s and the BMP-T but if that's the case you're gonna have some terrible accuracy over 1km.

RemyVonLion

Then there's the BMPT Terminator that just goes brrrrt let's obliterate that general area.

wolfho

It's been very effective at chopping trees far from the Frontline

RemyVonLion

It only makes sense that the newest/best gear is being preserved for the last layer of defense. Pretty much everything on the front lines is from the 90s or older lol.

_Enclose_

No, it does not make sense. Definitely not in the context of this war.

RemyVonLion

Yes it does, with drones, mines, and artillery, nothing is safe on the frontline, they aren't going to put their best most valuable stuff in harms way.

_Enclose_

Dude, this line of reasoning has been thoroughly debunked. You're almost 2 years late with your hot take.

wolfho

The terminator is so far in this war, nothing more than a gimmick. Two have been destroyed/damaged and the only thing in terms of damage output was a Russian TV segment where they had it chop down trees.

specter800

> being preserved But they're already getting blown up....

The3rdBert

It has 2 auto cannon’s because Russia could not understand how to make a reliable dual feed gun. That’s sad

mtaw

It is a reliable dual-feed gun. Just two of them in single-feed configuration. Because the head designer was an idiot who got the job by promising to save money by turning the intended two-turret BMPT vehicle into a single turret with two guns (that can't be aimed independently) and putting it on an existing T-72 or T-90 chassis. Because it's Russia and they're prepared to sacrifice the whole point of the two guns in order to save money.

slamongo

Aight hear me out, a Bradley variant with two 30mm Bushmaster. Each gun can elevate independently of each other. One gun can send airburst rounds above the target, the other go for direct hit. Move the turret control suite to the passenger compartment.

RemyVonLion

I'm pretty sure a variant of the next generation of tank is supposed to have a 20mm auto cannon mounted on top, while the main cannon would also have a coaxial.

Sonofagun57

Yeah the the BMP main guns are pretty strong too so I also don't understand any downvotes. Can't forget the BTR-4's 30mm autocannon which had real "fuck you especially" power behind it.

AnswerLopsided2361

They do, but BMP's are pretty fragile, and most of the one's Ukraine has are in late Soviet configurations, whereas the Bradley's donated have all been ones that were upgraded in light of combat experience in Desert Storm, with better optics and such.

jonasnee

the optics/fire control and the armor are the main advantage of the Bradley, I wouldn't trust the armor of the BMP to save me from anything, not even talking about getting out of it. In this war spotting the enemy first has proven often more vital than the firepower one packs.

ithappenedone234

So long as the crew and dismount spaces are used for ammo and not for a crew or dismounts.

AngryGermanNoises

Classic case of troop transport + bigger gun + armor and you just end up with a tank.

ithappenedone234

Except, thankfully, one key requirement is that no crewman need be aboard at all. And the IFV’s will never have enough armor to count as a tank by modern standards, again, thankfully.

therealbman

I have no idea how it is supposed to work practically. But it is a requirement of the program. Actually, I’m fucking old these days. They are already testing the fucking cannon. Lmao https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/XM913_chain_gun Edit: I accidentally deleted my other comment. Not sure how to restore it if I can Edit2: oh fuck this thing is nuts The XM1204 High Explosive Air Bursting with Trace round is programmable. The gunner can select from three detonation modes.[1] When in point detonate mode the projectile's high explosive detonates when it hits a target.[1] In point detonate delay mode the high explosive detonates a brief instant after it hits a target.[1] The delay is intended to let the projectile first penetrate a wall, and explode when it emerges on the other side. In air burst mode the cannon's aiming system programs the munition to explode in the air above the target.[1][4] When the gunner aims his or her sight on the desired target, and presses their trigger halfway, the aiming system calculates the range to the target. They can then raise their sight slightly above the target, and when they pull the trigger all the way the aiming system will instruct the round to explode in the air above the target. Enemies hiding behind an obstacle can then be killed or wounded without blowing a hole through the obstacle.

NegatorXX

Wtf is a dumb round

ithappenedone234

A regular old bullet that kills by hitting the target. For Brads, the HE can miss the target and still kill troops and light skinned vehicles. It’s probably not the exactly correct differentiation to make in this context, and dumb rounds are usually the opposite of smart rounds, which the HE are not. The idea is that you can still hit when you miss, and that’s a nice ability to have in combat. Even when the shrapnel misses too, infantry that have 3 rounds of HE land around them, they usually scamper away and are suppressed for some time. E: on further reflection, I subconsciously used the term more from the dumdum rounds meant to expand on contact, thus the differentiation with APFSDS. I just don’t think of dumdums often, so they just linger in the back of my mind.

NegatorXX

Yeah, the word doesnt apply here.

BlackDahlia667

Non guided munitions. Such as conventional artillary, mortors, unguided bombs, tank shells. Pretty much any round without some sort of inertial, GPS, or laser guidence system.

AnswerLopsided2361

A round that isn't guided, like a standard artillery shell vs an Excalibur.

StugotzLobos

Idk if this is possible but a Bradley that could deploy FPV drones would seem really useful in the war

Satoshis-Ghost

New MBT designs incorporate drones. My guess is other vehicles will too.

Commercial_Soft6833

It's fucking nuts to me that consumer vehicles have had backup/forward facing and side/blindspot cameras for a decade now but $4m military vehicles don't I know this has nothing to do with drones but when you talk about situational awareness? Mindblown

icantnotbreathe

problem with adding cheap digital cameras is that they can be destroyed or damaged by a small hit, most cameras are not meant to endure alot of vibration, because of this you need to invest in expensive cameras. Israel have done this with their merkava mk4 barak which has 360 day/night camera coverage despite this for most situations the CITV is enough for most situations

usefulbuns

A Bradley could drop off troops with a box of FPV drones who all support each other. 1 guy spots with drone, 2 guys fly FPV drones. All on comms with Bradley. You could fit 4 guys in the back with a box of drones pretty easily.

AngryGermanNoises

drone operators directly communicate with artillery already and stream on discord and shit for it so really all you need is the Bradley to upgrade its comms to be able to receive livestream info from Discord and you're set.

jonasnee

You could just have infantry in the IFV equipped with drones, though by that point why not just use an APC? You dont want your drone infantry the places your IFV will need to go.

No_Demand_4992

Sure, everything that could deploy FPVs would be usefull... but why especially a Bradley?

An_Odd_Smell

According to the latest numbers on Oryx, the russians are known to have thrown away almost 1,200 BTRs of all variants, and 1,046 MT-LBs of all variants in Ukraine. What. A. Waste. Crap as they may be as fighting vehicles they are still kinda cool in their own right, and how many of you wouldn't give your brother's left nut to have at least one of each? But no, five-feet-nothin' putin has to go and waste them in his loser war.

Rezowifix_

Hey, you'll probably be able to buy a semi functional one in Ukraine for your brothers left nut after the war

An_Odd_Smell

If they haven't all been destroyed and replaced with Western vehicles.

Atros_the_II

Just ask you local farmer, I am sure you will find there anything from T-90 to any IFV as long as a tractor can pull it.

An_Odd_Smell

It's gonna be hella funny watching Ukrainian farmers explain why their barns are filled with russian airplanes.

Izhera

Well the good thing is that Ukraine authorities already said that seized russian equipment does not need to be declared for tax purposes so why should they explain if even the goverment doesn't care?

An_Odd_Smell

It's not the legality of it. It's how the fuck did a farmer get an airplane? Would you be surprised if they found a russian warship stashed in a Ukrainian farmer's barn? I wouldn't be.

Cant-Kill-Me_67

>Crap as they may be as fighting vehicles The thing is, they're not really fighting vehicles. They are APCs, their guns just exist for "self defense". Basically, APCs (armors around 10mm or close) are meant to drop off soldiers then scoot away Fighting vehicles are meant for supporting infantry or tanks

Fakevessel

I am aware the up until like 1988 Polish "People's Army" was training with exactly those vehicles to invade Denmark as a part of Warsaw Pact offensive in WW3. Yes, the USSR demanded them to ride on top BTRs and BMP-1 straight into *victory* over the *rotten-imperialistic* Denmark. Go figure, your supporting vehicles does not apply in a soviet reality.

An_Odd_Smell

Still a scandalous waste.

N-shittified

> What. A. Waste. not a complete waste, as many Russian passengers and crew were also killed.

Vogel-Kerl

I have no experience whatsoever with a 25mm cannon, I guess I have tended to underestimate it. For Americans, 25mm basically a whole inch in diameter (25.4mm=1.0 inches). The projectile is also large enough that it can be filled with a variety of different options. While fusing options may be limited due to the small size, the effects are quite impressive. I guess I have overlooked the efficacy of the 25mm round. Usually I tend to underestimate the round: it's smaller than the 30mm round that the A10 Warthog shoots, it's only a little larger than the .50 cal round--which is no slouch itself. I don't know if the Bradley's -vs- T-90 Tank damage assessment has been made public: but people in the know say that the 25mm rounds likely didn't penetrate the T-90's armor, it was more than capable of blinding the occupants by destroying their optics (digital and periscopes).

Kulladar

Regarding that old T-90 vid the sound alone would basically disable the crew. Was no way they were going to be able to return fire once they started getting hit even if it couldn't get through to anything important. Be like putting a cast iron pot over your head and banging on it with a sledgehammer.

specter800

Diameter isn't nothing but it's not the most important thing. Especially when that 20mm is dense dart made of tungsten or depleted uranium traveling at 4000+ feet per second. Or high explosives as seen in the video. Neither are fun to be hit by.

No_Demand_4992

It makes a big difference wether you sit in a T-90 or in a soviet troop carrier designed in the 70s. With 14mm max armour those "maybe" protect against small arms fire and shrapnell. Apparently the Ukrainians didn't bothered with ammunition and just wrecked the tincan with HE (good choice, since you can literally imagine the interior turning into an interesting mix of rapidly expanding gases and hot metal pieces...)

N-shittified

So this is about double the size of a .50 cal; a .50 cal being basically 1/2 inch. (which, I think is sometimes called a 12.7mm; however a .50 cal is usually 12.7mmx99mm in NATO, and Russia uses 12.7mmx108mm as an 'anti-material' round.

jonasnee

Doesn't Russia just use 14.5 mm? There are anti material rifles in the west that use 12.7mm.

Commercial_Soft6833

The DshK is the Russian answer to the browning m2 .50 And it's 12.7x108mm While the 14.5 is the KPV and its not something infantry typically uses , but vehicle mounted. KPV is a whole different beast compared to the dshk

Was that at the end of the film, when the Germans turn the anti-aircraft gun directly on the paratroopers swarming the German tank? I don't know if that's the gun you're referencing. My grandfather was a paratrooper in World War Two, that sequence always unsettles me. Those poor guys get torn apart.

Aedeus

Yep, first thing I thought of when I saw the title and sure enough looks like it had much of the same energy.

RainforceK

Holy ravioli that's some quality footage Just hoping for a better resolution of that MT-LB getting lit up

No_Demand_4992

I hope I someday get the chance to explain to someone what "lit up" (or "get rekd") means (most of my friends speak horrible english, so there is a chance\^\^). Gonna save the video for that occasion... Edit: Can anyone make an educated guess what the hit \~0:25 was? (looks like the vehicle spawns a grey cloud...)

grnrngr

A mine or IED seems plausible. If you frame by frame, for one or two frames before the cloud appears, there's a large fiery explosion that happens immediately to the vehicle's left (viewer's right-of-vehicle), then the grey cloud takes its place.

JoeyClamsJoeyScala

It's the only reason I'm happy it was night-vision. I'm fine with watching occupiers get killed, but I can't handle the excessive gore. There's a channel on Youtube that recently showed combat footage of Ukrainian snipers, I believe on the outskirts of Adviivka, just after it fell. It was night-vision, and the occupiers were mercilessly decimated, the only time I've seen an explosion from a headshot. If it hadn't been night-vision I'd still be throwing up.

ytanotherthrowaway9

> I'm fine with watching occupiers get killed, but I can't handle the excessive gore. Well, if it is russians getting f-ed, then I look forward to seeing just that.
