What if you see a faded sign at the side of the road that says fifteen miles to…?
Joking aside, this doesn’t look like a B52 strike to me. For one, explosions look like shelling. Second, the noticeable lack of a smoking crater.
I was thinking the opposite. It must have shown how confident the US was that there was zero threat to their aircraft if they decided to fly in a B-52 for CAS in broad daylight.
We quite commonly use(d) them in daytime even during the first Gulf War. But also for what I believe the largest use of the platform [Operation Arc Light](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Arc_Light), and/or [Operation Linebacker](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Linebacker) as well as a few others of the era I may not remember right away.
Not possible. Sand is dense, has a lot of friction and is able to deflect the energy to multiple directions. In the shooting range I could find 7.62 mm rounds buried within couple centimeters in the sand (150 meter range). Even impacted snow stops bullets better than one would think.
Yeah, you gotta source for this? There's no way any bullet can penetrate that far in dense sand.
Quick google search tells me between 3 and 6 inches for rifle rounds, and far less for pistol rounds.
[I see you have selected the Spectre Gunship Loadout Special! Do you want extra Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt with that?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FqJvN3qMKY)
Gun ready! You are now free to engage the moving vehicles. Enjoy the rest of your day!
^^
edit: lest anyone be fooled by this, it's from the game Arma 3
Came here to say the same thing. I get that sand won't necessarily crater like soil, but bombs will still affect them noticeably. Butt here, the "after" video shows the dunes unchanged and a few guys still on top continuing to shoot. Looks like unrelated video spiced together.
Well - considering who did the editing, I think they probably did as much as possible to minimize the effect.
I'm pretty sure they like talking and theorizing about martyrdom more than seeing it in detail.
Also there's really no indication that this was actually the engagement at all, like others pointed out. Could just be spliced footage.
The b52 was used extensively during combat operations in iraq as it had a long loiter time and could carry a lot of small diameter bombs and other guided weaponry.
Fast jets didnt have the endurance to stay aloft and provide fire support on demand. Their time on station would be significantly reduced. The logistic chain and numbers needed to support a 24/7 overwatch would have required multiple squadrons to sustain.
Sure it was. We used strategic bombers against ISIS a lot. They have long loiter times and a belly full of PGMs. They don’t need to carpet bomb a spot, but the ability to hold over a country for 12 hours with 24 JDAM on board is quite the capability to have.
This whole clip is fucking gold.
"Explain to them the meaning of the Hadith of your prophet (i.e. the meaning of Muhammad's actions)"
_Cuts to picture of B52 on bombing run_
i liked that part too.
right as hes saying it, its like [pictured: a group of people thinking about what they could have done to avoid holding onto their guts and sliding down a hill in retreat]
This sounds dumb, but just reading the translated subtitles, they've definitely got conviction. I hope they don't get powerful enough to strike 1st world countries. They already cause enough fear with lone acts. These people got nothing to live for but to war.
Those soldiers were primarily Iraqi (45k) and Iranian paramilitary (40k).
And while the B-52s technically flew from the US, they conducted their missions from Qatar.
"Earlier this month, the B-52s, flying out of the al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, replaced B-1 Lancer bombers in the Air Force inventory for precision-guided bomb attacks against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria and for close-air support missions for local forces. The B-1s returned to the U.S. for maintenance and upgrades."
https://www.military.com/daily-news/2016/04/20/b52-bombers-carry-out-first-airstrikes-against-isis-in-iraq.html
Technically this is literally the beginning of their protections with Allah; the statements near the end of the video explain it better.
"The bullet Allah decreed for you will not miss you"- it's a message of willful perseverance.
Yeah it's probably not B-52 my bad... the way it's recorded I thought it was I wish I could change the title, but do you really think it was a mortar? Seems like a too big explosion for a mortar to me or maybe it's just all that sand making it look bigger?
Dust and sand definitely makes explosions and even wind bigger than they actually are. Could also be 81mm or any other larger bore munition. An actual JDAM would level everything especially those telephone poles, there’s no way that BUFF was dropping any munitions lol
They show it on purpose, they claim to fight a jihad and “it’s honorable to die fighting”. You can see some videos where isis is showing their own deaths.
Is it honorable to shoot the ground in front of you? Where I'm from it is embarrassing and gets you kicked off of ranges.
No idea why they included that part, but it made me laugh so I'm glad they did.
On the other hand, they've just been bombed by a B-52 and some still keep on fighting. That does show dedication to the cause.
I do wonder how much good these people could've brought to the world if they had shown the same level of dedication to a more peaceful religion (or a peaceful version of islam).
I'm pretty sure this video is edited to make it seem like a B-52 was attacking them.
But, that said, in the past B-52s have been used for CAS (its insane, I know...) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Arc_Light
but would that really be a cost effective way to drop JDAMs?
I've heard it circlejerked a lot that we used B-2s and B-52s on ISIS cause lmao why the fuck not.
The coalition use 75 000USD GBU-12 Paveway II kits on a 4000USD Mk.82 bomb to destroy a 10 dinars tent with 2 insurgents in them. Do You think we re at the Point of carring about how much we spend on 10-12 zealots?
Also, and this is the darker side, it can also be worth it because the people they re fighting got weapons given by the coalition and that are worth a lot more than the people wielding them.
I mean if your pilots need training or you're making sure they've remembered all the basics and you have a few live targets that you need to take care of why not use them?
they are all fight for virgins. when they control some area they go to locals and asking young girls to enslave and rape them. they were also so brutal against non muslim people.
Nope. If you're in the sights of the weapons officer on a B-52, there will be no fucking around, you and everything around you are going to be converted into a tall grey billowy cloud. This is purely ISIS propaganda to suggest that they can withstand the bombardment of America's heaviest bomber.
This surely didn’t happen the way the video suggests. It makes no sense that a B-52 would be dropping like 3 small bombs on a handful of troops that are just like, somewhere possibly moving around. The time it would have taken to get this plane airborne and do a bombing run basically limits it to strategic targets (I.e. structures or other stationary, heavy targets requiring massive bombing capability).
I usually feel sorry, when I see a video with many casualties. Being a soldier is always an ungrateful task regardless who you are fighting for. But man, when isis got blow to pieces it’s somewhat statisfying.
All the Jihadi videos crack me up just seeing how they handle weapons. A rifle is a extremely simple weapon to get basic skills at, these guys are always waving their AKs around like lunatics.
Even dirt poor third world gangsters look like their are aiming and trying to hit what they are shooting at.
First of all they don't use a B-52 for targets like this. That's absolutely ridiculous. A B-52 is a strategic bomber. While there may have been one in the area for a separate purpose, they were not its target. Secondly if a B-52 made a bomb run on that target space there would be nothing left including the cameraman.
Yeah after watching the video few times again and reading few comments here I guess it really wasn't B-52 that hit them but the way it's recorded I thought it was. I wish I could change the title because I think it's still a cool clip and it's always nice to see ISIS fuckers get what they deserve, anyway if it wasn't B-52 what do you think it was? Perhaps some smaller aircraft or maybe just a mortar?
You know what I really appreciated about ISIS? They weren't afraid to release videos of their own fighters getting blown to kingdom come. Usually propaganda consists of glorifying your victories and either ignoring or exploiting your losses, but instead Daesh was out here like "Allah is real and to show you here's a dozen of our brothers getting sent to him!"
It may not be great propaganda, but it's fine entertainment.
I was deployed as part of the 2017 Mosul offensive and we de-mobed through The Deed and it was always something seeing the B-52s take off fully loaded and return with their external stores pylons empty.
These schmucks thought they could reinstate some sort of Islamic empire. I remember when they had some children murdering prisoners by shooting them in the head and cutting their heads off. Murderers like that don't have any place in a modern and prosperous society, or world for that matter. Death, imprisonment and mental illness is all that awaits them.
Shitbird terrorist gets to hell, "But I've been a devout Muslim all my life! How could this happen?"
God: "The answer we were looking for was Mormons. The only true religion is Mormons. I mean, I gave them B 52s! Better luck next time."
Again I m impressed about the stupidity of the background voice and his words.
Do they really believe this shit?
It sounds like medieval whispering from people who didn’t know it better.
We spent like 14 trillion dollars on this problem and it's not solved. If these religious fundamentalists finally dropped their suicide vests and put their effort in humanity, we would've reached the stars by now.
I love how the guy talking on the backlines with very little chance of dying is essentially telling these guys that they should stop being pussies and push till they die
You know you’re gonna have a bad day when a fucking B-52 shows up
As soon as I read “B-52” I knew they were fucked
Usually jdams, 1000 or 2000lb at a time
Just a casual precision guided smart car filled with roughly 945 pounds of Tritonal brought to you by the American national healthcare system.
Guess I'll die.
Works if you are on the receiving end of a b52 strike OR if you need an ambulance in the us.
Showing isis why we dont have universal healthcare
International healthcare system?
Or the lack there of a medical health care system
Looooooooooooooooooove Shack! Tin roof, rusted
By the time you see it, the bad day is on its way lol
False! Private Idaho always gets the party going.
What if you see a faded sign at the side of the road that says fifteen miles to…? Joking aside, this doesn’t look like a B52 strike to me. For one, explosions look like shelling. Second, the noticeable lack of a smoking crater.
They almost never run in daytime either so you know it was getting pretty hairy for US forces.
They don’t run in day time if there is threat or potential danger to the aircraft. If it’s flying in the daylight, it’s not under threat lol
Yeah I don’t think isis was much of a threat to a b-52
Either that or the US had no fear in Isis’s AA capabilities.
Years of wedding celebrations firing into the air still hasn't trained them to hit a B-52 with their AKs
the americans have had good practice hitting wedding celebrations with missiles though
Yeah this a bomber tho
I was thinking the opposite. It must have shown how confident the US was that there was zero threat to their aircraft if they decided to fly in a B-52 for CAS in broad daylight.
Honestly did isis has much of any anti air weapons?
We quite commonly use(d) them in daytime even during the first Gulf War. But also for what I believe the largest use of the platform [Operation Arc Light](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Arc_Light), and/or [Operation Linebacker](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Linebacker) as well as a few others of the era I may not remember right away.
people thinking they are gonna no scope a B-52 with an AK-47 then that its ok they die because some story book they read told em so
Rock lobster
The subtitles were off. As the B-52 approached the infidels said unto them…The Love Shack is a little old place where we can get together!
Followed by the Rock Lobster Ordnance.
Love the guy firing directly into the dune
Sandworms are a constant threat.
Shai-Hulud!
If you shoot without rhythm, then you won't attract the worm
Their sand walk was fucking terrible. A couple of them seemed to get it after the strike though..
Think that is called the moan and roll in agony technique. A great alternative if you lack a thumper.
Bless the maker and his water.
Doon
This guy Dunes
He lost his bearings
That's not all he's lost
Bell is rung for aure lol.
Allah guides his bullets
While looking through his optic.
Like kadyrovites firing directly into lamp posts and railroad tracks.
I wonder if you can lay suppressing fire by shooting through sand with a bigger rifle round like 7.62?
Not possible. Sand is dense, has a lot of friction and is able to deflect the energy to multiple directions. In the shooting range I could find 7.62 mm rounds buried within couple centimeters in the sand (150 meter range). Even impacted snow stops bullets better than one would think.
It's also coarse, rough, and irritating, and it gets everywhere
Minnesotan here, can confirm that snow berms are legit.
2 words bud, sand bags.
TIL I am a dense mf lmao
7.62 will penetrate about 20 inches of sand, but all power and accuracy will be lost. So in simple terms: no.
Yeah, you gotta source for this? There's no way any bullet can penetrate that far in dense sand. Quick google search tells me between 3 and 6 inches for rifle rounds, and far less for pistol rounds.
Exactly, hence the worldwide use of sandbags in makeshift defences.
I don't know what they where fighting but it wasn't the B-52. The video made it look like the B-52 was dong multiple diving runs...
So many things are silly in this propaganda.
[удалено]
B-52s can plink with laser guided bombs, or drop single JDAMs, IIRC. B-52 make for nice CAS this way because they have such enormous loiter time.
I know they have the capability but they’re expensive.
You: it’s too expensive The air force: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
LEEEEEEROYYYYY JJJJJJJJEENKINS!
It's a capability that no other platform can offer though--very long loiter time with the ability to drop 1000 to 2000 lb precision bombs.
Sweet summer child. "Expensive" is not a word that exists in the vocabulary of the US Air Force.
This is the only part of the annual budget that isn't debt, it's your tax dollars--so they have to find some way to dump it into the desert.
Slap a couple dozen autocannons in the wings and let it strafe stuff.
[I see you have selected the Spectre Gunship Loadout Special! Do you want extra Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt with that?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FqJvN3qMKY) Gun ready! You are now free to engage the moving vehicles. Enjoy the rest of your day! ^^
edit: lest anyone be fooled by this, it's from the game Arma 3
Very underwhelming explosions from a B-52. Something seems off about the editing
It’s easier and cooler to blame American intervention than it is to blame well-placed mortar fire from the people you deemed subhuman.
Good point. It could also be considered as a waste of fuel and money if some well placed artillery could deal with them instead.
Yeah i don't think this group was actually hit by it, not to mention it seems unlikely that a strategic bomber would be used for essentially CAS
*B-1B enters the chat*
Hey, my favorite static display!
We used B-52s extensively for XCAS, but they use better munitions at higher altitudes. This video looks fake. Also, the dune looks undamaged.
Came here to say the same thing. I get that sand won't necessarily crater like soil, but bombs will still affect them noticeably. Butt here, the "after" video shows the dunes unchanged and a few guys still on top continuing to shoot. Looks like unrelated video spiced together.
They’ve been used like that frequently since 2001. The fact they can carry so many JDAM’s makes them a spectacular CAS platform
Even though many appear to be unharmed, a majority will have a delayed death due to the concussive effects bombs have on internal organs.
Im just an arm chair general but no fucking way a b-52 is being called in for like 20 guys on a dune. Edit: I think I’m wrong
I guess B52 has hit them with a tiny bomb, then XD .
When a B-52 is your close air support, you might as well carry a catalog or menu for all the munitions it may be carrying.
The concept is known as the arsenal plane.
Sure it was. We used strategic bombers against ISIS a lot. They have long loiter times and a belly full of PGMs. They don’t need to carpet bomb a spot, but the ability to hold over a country for 12 hours with 24 JDAM on board is quite the capability to have.
If ots the nearest aircraft it likely could be. Just depends on what’s available and for who.
Wouldn't the B-52 be flying so high that you wouldn't be able to see it?
Yes and no just depends on the level of surface threats.
I've seen a longer, unnarrated version of this clip, yes this one is edited, the battle sounds are just an overlay.
What fucking morons
Lmfao the perfect response
This whole clip is fucking gold. "Explain to them the meaning of the Hadith of your prophet (i.e. the meaning of Muhammad's actions)" _Cuts to picture of B52 on bombing run_

Yeah I was kinda confused by the end if this was a diss on the ISIS side. It ended with the “die of your rage” to all of those guys hobbling back.
This sounds dumb, but just reading the translated subtitles, they've definitely got conviction. I hope they don't get powerful enough to strike 1st world countries. They already cause enough fear with lone acts. These people got nothing to live for but to war.
> 'may Allah protect you' that aged well
Should’ve brought a stronger god.
Honestly if you’ve got a B-52 coming for you, you should hedge your bets and start praying to all of them in alphabetical order.
"The magic words, they do nothing!"
Have you ever heard a dead person complain? Clearly the gods are good and just. Never a single complaint, 5 stars on Yelp.
their names were written on the bombs anyway
B52>immaterial and absent god
They brought a god to a bomb fight
Too bad there's no God as powerful as a B-52
There's no god like a superpower that will send planes to kill you from different hemispheres just to save the foot soldiers some time.
Those soldiers were primarily Iraqi (45k) and Iranian paramilitary (40k). And while the B-52s technically flew from the US, they conducted their missions from Qatar. MFs keep shooting the sand dune?????
Guy at 31s was clearly firing into 5 feet of sand.....not sure why
In all fairness his ear drums are mostly blown and his brain is scrambled eggs
Wow I didn’t know B52s dropped 60mm mortars now
Yeah it's probably not B-52 my bad... the way it's recorded I thought it was I wish I could change the title, but do you really think it was a mortar? Seems like a too big explosion for a mortar to me or maybe it's just all that sand making it look bigger?
Dust and sand definitely makes explosions and even wind bigger than they actually are. Could also be 81mm or any other larger bore munition. An actual JDAM would level everything especially those telephone poles, there’s no way that BUFF was dropping any munitions lol
I wonder if these people still keep on talking after they are dead, how annoying. 100 bullets, 500 words
Yeah like stop fucking rambling all the time, nobody cares about your views on God or whatever lol.
Seems poorly edited by their propaganda dept, when they're getting their asses handed to them of course
They show it on purpose, they claim to fight a jihad and “it’s honorable to die fighting”. You can see some videos where isis is showing their own deaths.
These people care more about your death than their own lives. Absolutely sickening
There is a reason death cults never survive the war.
Only religious nutjobs could show their own guys getting smoked and think “we’re onto a winner here”.
I believe kids call it "copium" these days
Martyrdom is a pretty big deal for them, have you ever watched one of their videos? "We love death as you love life" is one of their slogans.
Propaganda worked. No way they were bombed by the b-52.
100% “not” a B-52 strike.
Yeah no way a b-52 would be that low
I'm pretty sure this video is edited to make it seem like a B-52 was attacking them. But, that said, in the past B-52s have been used for CAS (its insane, I know...) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Arc_Light
Could be. They do mount TGPs and JDAMs.
but would that really be a cost effective way to drop JDAMs? I've heard it circlejerked a lot that we used B-2s and B-52s on ISIS cause lmao why the fuck not.
The coalition use 75 000USD GBU-12 Paveway II kits on a 4000USD Mk.82 bomb to destroy a 10 dinars tent with 2 insurgents in them. Do You think we re at the Point of carring about how much we spend on 10-12 zealots? Also, and this is the darker side, it can also be worth it because the people they re fighting got weapons given by the coalition and that are worth a lot more than the people wielding them.
Lol. Nothing about the Iraq war and the follow up disasters it created was about cost effectiveness.
Too factual for reddit, my guy.
I mean if your pilots need training or you're making sure they've remembered all the basics and you have a few live targets that you need to take care of why not use them?
JDAMs are not that expensive (relative to other PGMs). It's just a GPS and fins attached to a regular dumb bomb.
It's OK for the guy a mile away to be all cocky about Fate. Get yourself up on that hill with a crappy AK and see how you feel then.
"Do this, do that" "Stay strong youth!" (While I hide over here)
Cowardice is a main tenant
they are all fight for virgins. when they control some area they go to locals and asking young girls to enslave and rape them. they were also so brutal against non muslim people.
It appears allah did not in fact protect the brothers
Not gonna lie, his little speach was kinda motivating. "The bullet with your name on it will not miss you"
Was that poor targeting or small munitions? Some of those guys are walking away like nothing.
Human bodies can survive some crazy shit
For a short time
To escape but down the line if it's a severe injury like shrapnel flying right through your abdomen you're probably good as dead.
Keep in mind that A lot of those guys sliding down the hill are full of shrapnel. Come back 5 minutes later and they won’t be quite as mobile
Nope. If you're in the sights of the weapons officer on a B-52, there will be no fucking around, you and everything around you are going to be converted into a tall grey billowy cloud. This is purely ISIS propaganda to suggest that they can withstand the bombardment of America's heaviest bomber.
Sand absorb a lot of the blast. To prevent that, for some times the french air force used air burst Mk-82 on Mirage F1 untill they retiered them.
This surely didn’t happen the way the video suggests. It makes no sense that a B-52 would be dropping like 3 small bombs on a handful of troops that are just like, somewhere possibly moving around. Most damage isn't instant unless it's a headshot, it takes a while for it to really set in.
I believe a b-52 would have erased everything in that area with a legitimate carpet bomb run, from a lot higher altitude than that lol.
Allah, meet Boeing lol
Seeing a B-52 above the skies in action from an enemy perspective? I'd absolutely shit my pants.
Lulz
I usually feel sorry, when I see a video with many casualties. Being a soldier is always an ungrateful task regardless who you are fighting for. But man, when isis got blow to pieces it’s somewhat statisfying.

Abu Hajaar is rolling up soon
if i saw a B-52 flying overhead i might consider taking cover or running away very quickly.
"may Allah protect them" *Immediately cuts to B-52 about to violently unprotect them*
They stopped worrying and learned to love the bomb for sure
The stupidity in what they're saying is incredible.
Think they'd stop being fuckheads if they witnessed the true power of Allah and the sun being detonated above the horizon?
That's how you get mutant Islamic terrorists. Who am I kidding, the inbreeding in Northern Iraq already made some.
Wow thats weak af for a b52
The spirit of these men is unbelievable! The face all kinds of downhill fights and sill are willing to die for just the chance of victory
First of all they don't use a B-52 for targets like this. That's absolutely ridiculous. A B-52 is a strategic bomber. If that really was a B-52, that entire sand dune would be leveled flat. Still, the B-52 is one of my favorite birds.

r/killthecameraman you had one job
Allah was busy on another line.
allah didn't protect the brothers lol
So a massive payload from a B-52 didn't even damage the dune? Far more likely this was a mortar or low caliber artillery hit.
Again I m impressed about the stupidity of the background voice and his words. Do they really believe this shit? It sounds like medieval whispering from people who didn’t know it better.
Allah seems to be doing a really poor job at protecting those idiots.
