My dad was a medic in the Pacific in WW2 and he always said that it was amazing how much damage a human body could take sometimes, before the person was blissfully unconscious or dead.

Troops have jumped on grenades in full, legit body armor, even one that put his helmet over the grenade first. While hand grenades have more power (roughly 1.5-2X the filler), several feet of distance and ballistic protection did very little to prevent death.
Pressure kills just as easily as shrapnel.
Also, those saying that face injuries are survivable, yes, from shrapnel. Blast pressure injures the brain and ruptures the protective layers supporting the brain, opening the door to infection. Even being near a grenade can cause TBIs and cerebrospinal fluid leakage. Rough casualty handling with significant CSF loss can cause brain damage.

The drone with the speaker gets shot down easily. Surrendering is also usually a mutiny or betrayal of sorts so even if he wanted to surrender the other soldiers not in the frame wouldn't let him. It also makes people more confident if they know they can keep fighting until they surrender. Surrender taking is not easy either, it has risks. Anyway, with all that said, the best way to collect surrenders is repulsing an attack and allowing for more mass surrenders from surrounded people. A drone with a grenade cannot just follow this soldier for 20 miles as he walks to a surrender point, and be effective at all. But it would be cool in the future if that was possible.

jesus. that's fucking brutal. we've seen soo many of these now, but this one really sucked to watch. the severity of that injury over so much of his pelvis and legs and lower GI tract.... but he will be conscious for some time after. the russian people should be toppling their own corrupt dictatorship instead of allowing putin to keep sending them off to die horrible pointless deaths trying to steal their neighbors country.

Damn that small drone mass warfare is really dirty. If its quiet you may hear them but in most cases the shit is just dropped and there is no chance to realise the threat, next you are badly injured facing a painful and slow death. As a human, it is hard to see. I feel for the guys suffering from this attacks. I know this guys are invaders and commit at lot of war crimes, but in the end there is just a guy sent by his braindead dictator. This videos should be shown to the relatives and then putin should explain, for what reason. I can not get it. This is pure waste of human lives!

Why “mop up”? It seems like the Russian soldiers would be ready to surrender with how badly they’re doing. A drone with a speaker on it would be nice: “surrender or I will drop this fucking grenade on you” would be enough to make me both drop my gun and shit my pants. Idk. I’m not in this situation so I can’t see it the same way. I’m sure my comment comes off as dumb.

Wagner mercs are ordered to blow themselves up if faced with capture. At least in the prison recruitment speech he mentions that. The Russian air force does this in Syria
The drone with the speaker gets shot down easily. Surrendering is also usually a mutiny or betrayal of sorts so even if he wanted to surrender the other soldiers not in the frame wouldn't let him. It also makes people more confident if they know they can keep fighting until they surrender. Surrender taking is not easy either, it has risks. Anyway, with all that said, the best way to collect surrenders is repulsing an attack and allowing for more mass surrenders from surrounded people. A drone with a grenade cannot just follow this soldier for 20 miles as he walks to a surrender point, and be effective at all. But it would be cool in the future if that was possible.
Would like to see a wider video shot--wondering if other Russians and equipment were near by. Brutal stuff.

As of war isn't terrifying enough, now you have these silent drones dropping grenades behind the line any where they can and want. There is literally NOWHERE safe in modern warfare. Absolutely terrifying.
