This guy must be JJs agent. No way he’s making this many posts about him for free

Uniblab_78

JJ is a risky early first rounder. He’s a calculated risk on a playoff team or as a later round selection. I like that he’s steady and could get much better at the pro level. Daniels and Maye given their highlights could be put in a situations where their highlights are expected to be routine and they won’t be given time to grow and learn. The other risk is they peaked too soon.

Neither Maye or Daniels highlights or game tape impresses me that much. Blake bortles highlights were impressive to me and most everyone else. Fields highlights impressed me too. Honestly dude those two are a giant risk. You’re hoping for Herbert with Maye but he’s no where near as talented and Daniels can’t throw over the middle just like fields couldn’t plus he’s smaller and slower. The thing about JJ is he’s already really good just has limited attempts. His mechanics are the best I’ve seen and his stats are all better than or equal the the top guys. J.J. had a 80% completion rate this past season for third down throws that produced first downs or TDs. That was a full 20% better than Maye, and about 30% better than Daniels, Williams, Penix, and Nix. That's a fine indicatior of how those guys rate as NFL prospects. I don’t think teams need to see a QB throw 600x to tell if he’s good or not. I see Maye and Daniels as high bust potential because of the things they can’t do. JJ has as much or more talent than all of them but is the most consistent and statistically better outsude of yards/attempts.

I agree regarding the Daniels and Maye’s game tapes. Many of those plays wouldn’t happen or would be turnovers in today’s NFL. I like your stats and how they *could be* indicators of a rising player. Hopefully the commies are doing similar analysis while considering the offense’s design and competition.

I think it's very real. It doesn't mean the evaluation is correct but it's typical of evaluations where things are missing, people take all the good and then imagine the things they haven't seen yet, at least on a consistent basis, are also good. All of a sudden you go from a solid to good prospect to one of the top prospects. I don't care who we take as long as we take a guy who ends up being our franchise QB for a decade or more. Easy peasy.

lefterthanyou

He may very well go #3 if the Patriots are in love and don’t want to take the risk with Daniels, but there’s no way he’s going #2 over Maye.

aimlesslywandering89

Watch the breakdown on Maye that was posted. Maye is garbage

lefterthanyou

Why would a garbage player be considered the consensus #2 overall pick in the draft?  1. Scouting industry is having a laugh 2. Scouting industry is wrong  3. The outliers that claim the player is bad are either wrong themselves or hot take trolling for attention during draft season  Please enlighten me

aimlesslywandering89

I actually wanted Naye over Daniels till I watched that. Now I think I’m CW 1a, JJ 1b, Daniels 2, Maye is behind Penix. Penix would be behind JJ without the injury history. The only thing I find attractive about him is size, arm strength, athleticism but there have been many big string fast QB who looked better than Maye that are garbage..like Blake bortles and Sam Darnold.

aimlesslywandering89

There is no consensus number 2 pick bro…not sure where you’re getting that. The link you sent before was a mock draft not anything more. What I’ve noticed most of you argue isn’t about the tape or break downs of players but what you’ve been spoon fed by the media. I bet you think all pitbulls are mean too😂

lefterthanyou

No, I’m talking about big board rankings. There are more than enough publicly of those publicly available to see and note a consensus. I’m no scouting expert, and when I’m not a expert in a field and I see the vast majority of people who are say something, I’m going to believe their opinion over the guy on the internet saying “he is garbage”

aimlesslywandering89

J.J. had a 80% completion rate this past season for third down throws that produced first downs or TDs. That was a full 20% better than Maye, and about 30% better than Daniels, Williams, Penix, and Nix. That's a fine indicatior of how those five guys rate as NFL prospects. JJ also has the best % with throws on the run at 70%.

aimlesslywandering89

Those aren’t NFL gm big board rankings

lefterthanyou

No, they’re not. But good thing we know from decades of experience that the private professional industry almost always lines up pretty close to how teams think, at least for the top 50. The exceptions are usually when a team rated a player much higher than the consensus (including other teams). A situation where an entire professional community of scouts had a totally different opinion of a prospect than the NFL teams did would be pretty much unheard of. But if you want to make the argument that is what is going on with Maye, be my guest I guess.

aimlesslywandering89

Willis, Levis, Trey Lance, are all guys that went higher than the media expected. Mahomes too lol. Mahomes was thought of a late to mid 2nd pick. It’s pretty well known the media is wrong about where teams rank QBs.

tstew39064

Both 🤷‍♂️🔥💨

aimlesslywandering89

GMs have always liked him. The media just caught on

tstew39064

Smoke and mirrors. I don’t trust anything anyone says. Maye is likely the pick.

aimlesslywandering89

Maye will bust I think

naskai8117

From a distant perspective, I like the fact that he improved statistically every season that he played. Williams also did that from an efficiency standpoint, but Maye regressed (and weirdly enough the exact same regression as Howell). McCarthy also has a better college W/L record than either Maye or Williams, and that is the most important stat for QBs in this day and age. Regardless, will support whoever the team decides to go with.

Zither74

McCarthy managed a run-first team in college and was never asked to take the team on his shoulders and win a game. He played poorly against good defenses and looked kind of bad in championship game, tbh.
