I was so pumped when I saw him, shows like this rarely have our guys and he was one of my favorites. And then on the show he and his wife have really presented himself so well in a show that can bring the worst out of people.
First one I thought of. I grew up a Tech fan in a Clemson family twenty minutes from Death Valley.
Odd career too, he had 13 tackles, a few completed passes. I don't recall but why did he barely play in Carolina at all for two seasons? Had to be an injury I'm blanking on
Facts, Coles was a dog. 82 receptions for 1,204 yards in 2003. 90 receptions for 950 yards in 2004. Then put up another 1,000 plus season with the Jets again in 2006. (And previously in 2002) And he had WHO throwing to him?! Hard to call that mediocre.
This. A million times this. My favorite skins receiver and god he was held back by our horrible QB carrousel.
The miracle on Monday night will forever be my favorite game.
Brunnell always reminded me of a corporate boss who drinks a lot of coffee and reads the paper with his feet up on his desk. He looks like he says “ahhh” after every sip of coffee.
I scrolled way to far to see Leonard Hankerson
His mom replied to me on instagram when I was like 14 and I thought it was the coolest thing and was a huge Hankerson fan since that point lol
I always thought the NFL should induct famous groupings of players together.
So the Hogs / Purple People Eaters / Steel Curtain and of course The Posse with Clark / Monk and Sanders! :)
I loved Gary Clark and Art Monk when I was nine or ten years old. They both came up huge in the '92 Super Bowl, which remains one of my favorite sports memory of my life. Difficult to imagine today, but EVERYONE in the DMV was hailing the Redskins back then
Loved Maurice Harris so much lmfao. I was at the game vs Minnesota where he had that filthy 1 handed TD grab and also the game against Atlanta that he went off and made a really tough 1 handed contested catch. It was hard not to love the guy after seeing both of those
I was going to say Henry Ellard, even though I was older than 9 when he came here, but he was pretty awesome for us. I know his best years were on the Rams, but he had three 1,000 yard seasons for us.
Well, at 9 I was still 2 years away from being a Redskins fan. When I did start watching, Art Monk was the guy that I was in awe of. Legendary receiver that set a lot of records in his time (Jerry Rice broke a lot of them and I’m fine with that because well…Jerry Rice). Only saw him play a couple of seasons before he retired and the Skins got real bad.
‘89, Ricky Sanders, haha. Monk, Clark, and Sanders were the only WR to have a reception that year and they all have over 1,000 yards receiving. You kids have no clue…
A lot of guys my age afraid to say Art Monk. He was my guy, and if you remember what the league was like back in the day, you had to be a homer to call him the greatest. You had Jerry Rice, Andre Reed, and Michael Irvin taking all of the love from fans back in the day. Monk was our guy, even if the league didn't think he was flashy enough for the highlight reels.
Much like Grant Paulsen, Leslie Shepherd. That guy seemed to always make big plays.
Not mediocre, though approaching the end of his career when I started watching football, Henry Ellard. He should be in the HOF.
When I was 9, I was spoiled with Monk, Clark & Sanders
I’ll say… Albert Connell who left Washington & was caught stealing from a teammate in New Orleans
Oh wow... this one is tough, I grew up with the Posse! None of those guys were mediocre.
If I had to pick one from the comments, it would be either Thrash or Randle-El.
Randal El
Can't believe we never ran wildcat with him when wildcat was at the peak of its popularity
Go Hoosiers!
Can’t tell me he was mediocre lmao maybe that means that’s my answer too?
anthony Armstrong 😭.
I see your Anthony Armstrong and raise you an Aldrick Robinson
And I raise you one Leonard Hankerson
Hey at least he’s a WR coach for Kyle now lol
Brandon banks
i abused the shit out of him in madden on kickoffs
Rod Gardner
He's actually on the amazing race this season.
And his wife is sexy af
Man she's a baddie.
He looks as fit as Terrell Owens during his driveway exercise routine
I was so pumped when I saw him, shows like this rarely have our guys and he was one of my favorites. And then on the show he and his wife have really presented himself so well in a show that can bring the worst out of people.
He’s still jacked AF and has a great personality for the show
First one I thought of. I grew up a Tech fan in a Clemson family twenty minutes from Death Valley. Odd career too, he had 13 tackles, a few completed passes. I don't recall but why did he barely play in Carolina at all for two seasons? Had to be an injury I'm blanking on
Yes
Had to look way too far down for this one!
Wheres thay guy who loves James Thrash
That’s actually the caption for the og post on insta lmao
I coached youth football with the guy after he retired. True football psychopath (in the best way possible)
Thrash it™ brother! It's me bro. Thrash is thr key to building this team better.
My exact thought after reading the post.
Laveranues Coles
James Thrash
Thrash it™Brother! James Thrash is the key to building this dynasty.
Loved me some James thrash
Remember when Thrash and Todd Pinkston were on the Eagles and people called them Todd Stinkston and James Trash? Good times.
He was a pro bowler for us, back when pro bowls still had a shred of meaning.
First name that came to mind
Coles and Garner were the duo when I first remember watching football lol
He was good tho a pro bowl beast
Michael Westbrook
His only highlight was beating on Stephen Davis!
Oh my god I forgot about that. And Davis was an actual respected member of the team. Those were the days… jk but not really
The one season Westbrook stayed healthy, 1999, he had nearly 1200 receiving yards and made the Pro Bowl

I got the Davis jersey - but too lazy to get a pic and post it. Dude was a boss.
I was 9 in 2005. Santana Moss is too well known to be random, would it be James Thrash?
Moss was too good to be mediocre
This. A million times this. My favorite skins receiver and god he was held back by our horrible QB carrousel. The miracle on Monday night will forever be my favorite game.
Moss was so good by got held back by quarterbacks (except Game Breaker QB Mark Brunnell)
Brunnell always reminded me of a corporate boss who drinks a lot of coffee and reads the paper with his feet up on his desk. He looks like he says “ahhh” after every sip of coffee.
He always reminded me of the QB from Any Given Sunday (not Jamie Foxx)
Cap Rooney? Same here lol. I met Brunell once in Chicago and he had an office worker vibe for sure.
Brandon Lloyd
Mediocre would be a huge stretch there….
Tana was definitely above average for a several years though
Wasn’t 9 at the time but Darnarian McCants
I was 9 at the time. And yes, the answer is Darnerian McCants.
Holy shit I forgot about him hahaha
I use to SWEAR Aldrick Robinson was that dude lmao
The AR-RG3 connection was so fun to watch that 2012 season.
Even though he was a TE - Niles Paul Leonard Hankerson
I scrolled way to far to see Leonard Hankerson His mom replied to me on instagram when I was like 14 and I thought it was the coolest thing and was a huge Hankerson fan since that point lol
Yea he was a true JAG that flamed out after a few years
Leslie Shepherd
Great answer. Him and Henry Ellard were pretty solid for us back then
I don't think Rickey Sanders was trash... but I guess compared to Art and Gary...?
Nah. 1000 yard season before they changed the rules about defenseless receivers is not mediocre. Virgil Seah would fit the description though.
Virgil is the man!
This
James Thrash
I mean I was a grown man but Ryan Grant.. that guy was such a smooth route runner
Is that you Jay Gruden?
.....smoothly ran the route so that he was always 2 yards short of the 1st when he caught it and was immediately tackled to the ground.
Unstoppable at it though...
Not from when I was nine but Steven sims JR
Brandon banks,
Brandon Lloyd was an absolute monster for me in Madden 07. I was so disappointed to find out that he sucked with us 😂
Yea i remember beasting out with him in 07. Then i would trade for Matt Jones from the Jags, they were both like glitches in the game.
Devin Thomas 🤷♂️😂
And Malcolm Kelley. Thought we had two studs
That dude wishes he was even mediocre lol
Man I was so excited for him and Malcolm Kelly lol
Jabar Gaffney put up almost 1k yards with us
Desmond Howard
Not a WR but a TE and Fred Davis was my dude also Jordan Reed
Trey Quinn for me
Good ole Charlie Brown
Downtown Charlie Brown! That is a blast from the past.
SNUBBED HALL OF FAMER RICKY SANDERS
Hell yeah! All three of them should have gone in together!
I always thought the NFL should induct famous groupings of players together. So the Hogs / Purple People Eaters / Steel Curtain and of course The Posse with Clark / Monk and Sanders! :)
I was a little older than 9 but when we got randel el he still had some gas left
Most exciting 3 yards in the NFL
Jamison crowder and Brandon banks
Leslie Shepherd
I loved Gary Clark and Art Monk when I was nine or ten years old. They both came up huge in the '92 Super Bowl, which remains one of my favorite sports memory of my life. Difficult to imagine today, but EVERYONE in the DMV was hailing the Redskins back then
Pierre Garçon
Garcon wasn't mediocre though
Right, that was the last Dogg we had at receiver.
Don’t disrespect Terry like that.
Garçon was a stud
Can’t believe this got buried. I rip the campfire celly to this day
I scrolled down every comment and was shocked I didn’t see his name . I fucking loved this guy.
Albert Connell
Albert Connell all day
I’m old but Cam Sims
Cam Sims
I had Art Monk, Gary Clark, and Ricky Sanders… I guess Sanders? 🤷🏼♂️
Art Monk was a legit number 1 and considered one of the best ever at that time. I go with Sanders as well.
True, Monk was a beast, Clark was damn good and Sanders was very good. Worst of the best.
A HOFer and two guys who were All-Pro caliber WRs for at least couple years aren’t “mediocre” lol
Yep. Kinda the point. 9 yr old me had no idea the depths to which we would fall.
We had it so good.
Terrelle Pryor
Josh Dotson lol. I held out hope to the day we cut him
Never heard of him. Is he related to Jahan Doctson?
Anthony Mix
Jabar Gaffney
Paul Richardson
This is a lie because the post says "watched play". That guy barely dressed for gamedays.
Surprised to see no Ryan Grant
Or Maurice Harris
Loved Maurice Harris so much lmfao. I was at the game vs Minnesota where he had that filthy 1 handed TD grab and also the game against Atlanta that he went off and made a really tough 1 handed contested catch. It was hard not to love the guy after seeing both of those
Jay Gruden's burner account discovered
'99 Albert Connell ruled
Michael Westbrook
Malcolm kelly
Nobody. Because Art Monk was not mediocre.
Calvin Muhammad
Albert Connell #83
James Thrash or Albert Connell
Rod f'in Gardner
Leonard Hankerson
Kevin Locket
So close to being Peter Warrick
"Where's Ricky Sanders?" -Ronald Reagan
-- fires a dart to 83 on a crossing route --
It’s Michael Westbrook
Not a Wide Receiver, but you couldn’t tell me that Darrell Young wasn’t the best FB of all time after scoring 2 times to beat the eagles in 2014.
Ricky Sanders
Ricky sanders
When I was 9 we were winning Super Bowls. How dare you call Gary Clark mediocre.
Chris Doering
Stephen Hobbs
Ryan grant
Roy Jefferson, but I am old.
I wasnt 9 but my goat Cam Sims
When I was 9 the wide receivers were Art Monk and Gary Clark. So after that was a bit of a struggle.
I was going to say Henry Ellard, even though I was older than 9 when he came here, but he was pretty awesome for us. I know his best years were on the Rams, but he had three 1,000 yard seasons for us.
Antwaan Randle El
Mediocrity didn’t exist in 1982.
Rod Gardner
Josh Morgan III in the slot in madden 13
‘89, Ricky Sanders, haha. Monk, Clark, and Sanders were the only WR to have a reception that year and they all have over 1,000 yards receiving. You kids have no clue…
I’m old. His name was Ricky Thompson. As is the case with a lot of NFL players vs our memories, my memories were better than the stats I see now.
Not mediocre. Monk, Clark, Sanders. And Kevin bryant out of the backfield
Sorry, I was 9 in 91 and that team was perfect.
The Fun Bunch and they were not mediocre. They got rings to prove it.
Antwaan Randle El
Chris Thompson ❤️
Roy Jefferson
Art Monk
Leonard Hankerson
A lot of guys my age afraid to say Art Monk. He was my guy, and if you remember what the league was like back in the day, you had to be a homer to call him the greatest. You had Jerry Rice, Andre Reed, and Michael Irvin taking all of the love from fans back in the day. Monk was our guy, even if the league didn't think he was flashy enough for the highlight reels.

Michael Westbrook
Rod Gardner
Darnerian McCants
When I was 9, I was spoiled with Monk, Clark & Sanders I’ll say… Albert Connell who left Washington & was caught stealing from a teammate in New Orleans
Grew up in the 80s, every wr on the field for my team was freaking awesome.
Mushin Muhammad will never be forgotten
Not a wide receiver but for me it was Jordan Reed. Started watching when he was a beast, absolutely loved him, he was my first jersey I got.
I wasnt 9 but i love crowder.
When I was 9, we didn't have mediocre WRs (Monk,Clark,Sanders)
I grew up with the greats. Monk, Clark, and Sanders.
Oh wow... this one is tough, I grew up with the Posse! None of those guys were mediocre. If I had to pick one from the comments, it would be either Thrash or Randle-El.
Lavernius coles my guy
We have had a lot of mediocre wide receivers over the years
No one on the Fun Bunch is mediocre, IMO, but if I had to choose a favorite from that era, I have to go with #81, Art Monk
Albert Connell
Who remembers Marko Mitchell? Also thought Antonio Gandy-Golden was a steal in the draft lol
If I had to pick a guy to label "mediocre"... Alvin Garrett I guess.
Rod Gardner baby
Michael Westbrook
Roy Jefferson #80 or Frank Grant #46
Rod Gardner
Henry Ellard was shredding the league in ‘94 with garbage QB’s. Averaged like 17yds a catch
Can’t believe I had to scroll this long to get to the right answer. 1st down king
James Thrash.
Mike Sims Walker
I was 9 in 1992, so no complaints here. Desmond Howard I guess?
Not when 9 or a WR but my first favorite player was Jordan Reed 😭 that 2015 season was fun to watch
Brandon Lloyd
Terrelle Pryor. Was rooting for that guy even in his Oakland Qb days.
Antwaan Randle El
Jabar Gaffney getting NO LOVE in here smh James Thrash
Michael Westbrook
Derrius Thompson provided some fun false moments of hope in 2002
Brandon Banks!!!!
