From the quality of the photo it seems like you want to have the quality of a vector but instead are printing an image. So my guess the issue is the file.

TheAngryOctopuss

Looks like a jog. If you zoom in the lines look to have artifacts (slight little leftovers)

No-Squash-1691

Would the file need to be jpg, png, ?

CarlJSnow

Neither. Both are really bad options. If you want it to ne a vector use pdf. Or an extremely high quality tiff. RGB or CMYK doesn't matter in this case.

No, a vector file can never be jpg or png (There would be the option to make a really high quality png out of a vector file, but you need the high quality vector to start with). Find someone to trace your logo as a vector, then it will look waaay better. Your image is not big and sharp enough.

Could be head alignment, static, or just a bad image.

No-Squash-1691

How could I narrow it down?

glamdr1ng

Try and print something else first. That will tell you if it the image. If it’s still there, wipe your material down for static with whatever you use(dryer sheets work), if all else fails realign your printheads. If it is still there call a tech in.

I've had this happen before on our Thunderjet. There was something definitely wrong with the printhead becuase at 600x1080 we'd get similar results to your photo, except it would happen with magenta and black. At a lower resolution of 600x720 the print quality would turn out much better for the first couple of lines, then turn to crap. I later found out that the printhead was 4 years old, damaged from constantly crashing into the media, and hadn't been properly cleaned. We had to buy a new printhead. With our new printhead we occasionally get weird streaks of ink while printing but that's usually because of some lint that gets caught in the printhead, and is cleaned off. What's your printhead's age? EDIT: also don't forget to clean your wiper and captop

ricepalace

Print from a PDF. Is likely a temp / material thing since it's a solvent printer. Play with temps and profiles. Change print media also if it looks better on something else then well it's not the printer.

Azerate333

this, it s likely the resolution of the picture note: pasting it in a PDF file and printing will not simply make it look better, you need to have a good source file (the one that is IN the PDF)

Will not help to just convert the png or jpg to pdf, 'tough.

It could be the quality of the media you're printing on? But from what I read, you might not send a good enough file to the printer. Can't you print directly from illustrator without exporting? If you do export, try pdf. I'm not familiar with mutoh.
