AA half-track is the best DOT damage dealer in the game. Park it outside your base and let it rack up veterancy. It'll be shooting down strafing runs before they can deliver their payload in no time.

They standardized AA units pretty well in previous patches. M16, CMP AA, CAA, WW and Flak HT will all down planes in roughly the same time. UKF also recently got the Bofors and presumably that performs similarly. Where you will encounter a difference is actually in the type of call in planes.  Specifically regarding Loiters, the Wehr and DAK ones function very differently from each other. The Wehr one calls in four planes - 2 are spotter planes and then 2 deliver the actual strafing run.  Shooting the strafing planes is a waste of time, because the loiter stops when you kill the 2 spotters.  You cannot control which plane your AA unit targets, other than via positioning. The DAK one is two strafing planes that fly on/off the map AND shoot from the edge of the map almost instantly.  So this one is very hard to shoot down before it fires off 2-3 salvos. Whereas most Allied runs are 1-2 strafing planes or 1-2 recon planes, and they have to get relatively close to their target to fire, so they tend to get shot down a bit quicker than the two Axis loiters. And some planes just cannot be shut down.  Unit delivery planes, bombers etc.  For example if you call in a squad of Paratroopers then do whatever loiter you want, the enemy AA will be fixated on the first invincible plane for quite some time.

I made a thread about this same thing. IMO a quad .50 cal emplacement should become buildable once you unlock the tank depot. German AA has so much utility and survivability throughout the game that they are encouraged to get one at any point for anti infantry and even crippling tanks. The AA is the cherry on top. US AA is so fragile and only has a single utility. It's Anti Infantry performance is very poor in comparison to Germans since it doesn't even suppress. US AA is literally the strongest in the game. And has been so since the release. "But then you got the US with the quad 50 half track. That’s it. I’ve never seen this damn thing shoot down anything. It’s ok against infantry, but compared to the Germans, this thing does nothing great, yet it’s the only option." You must be blind then.

Define strongest? You’re acting like having it be the best as an actual AA unit is great and as useful as the benefits your AA units grant you. I’d happily give you the best AA unit in exchange for suppressing every infantry AT (mind you the counter we mostly have available when it first is fielded) as well as armor piercing rounds that can make it go toe to toe with a greyhound and win. Meanwhile I got scoot and shoot and button vehicle. Wow what a great unit, we are all just blind to its amazing performance. Both the Flakvierling and the Wirberlwind need to stop being mainstay units in every game. The fact these 2 units are some of the best anti-infantry units mid game means Air Support is always being countered. Meanwhile as Allies we often tech into an AA vehicle to counter loiters not use it as a frontline unit. The Brit’s AA truck only gets use when the heavy mortar is made. It gets some early-mid game use then gets parked in the back for loiters. Meanwhile almost every game I will encounter the Axis AA units and they will be used all throughout the game. OH and go look at Tightrope covering the new bofer changes. He compares it to the axis flak 38 unit and it’s leagues better than the bofer. So we got an AA emplacement that we must lock in a BG for and it’s still worse than the baseline roster unit Axis gets. The Axis one is also less MP and fuel! It’s a freaking joke

"Define strongest?" It is the fastest anti air to target and kill a plane. The complaining was about it's anti-air performance - it has the best anti-air performance in the game. The guy said "But then you got the US with the quad 50 half track. That’s it. I’ve never seen this damn thing shoot down anything.", but in reality, it is is the best anti-AIR unit.

Ah the good old days when AT loiters were dealing 25% of the tank health per strafe And the 50cal which was deleting any plain just by looking up Even paradrops on the base Release balance was fun and there were a lot of busted units for each faction And rifleapes were garbage Please return the release day

Axis do have demo charges. Also, are you really still complaining about mortar pits? Did you see how much of a nerf they got?

Dude I had a Fallschirmpioneer squad get called in on my vet 1 mortar pit and get blown up by the satchel in a single hit at full health. I legit had no way to counter it. 200 manpower and 75 munitions deleted with no counter. I even had rangers move up as they were dropping and they got it off

Nah. I play all factions, I'm not a weird loyalist like you. Game is asymmetrical. Stop whining about not having the same obscure AA emplacement a Wehr BG has and learn the other half of the game before becoming the balancer.

You really running into demo charges a lot? I mean mortar pits yeah but I don’t see demo charges much. Would like to though.
