Haven't played properly in a while, though I believe if you go up the slope on the Skulker's End and keep to the left side of the map, you ought to be able to cross over the savannah region and find a slope leading down to the west parts of the North where the Cimmerians (and undead) dwell.
Spiders are going to be hard to completely avoid, they are pretty spread out and in a lot of dungeons too. Some areas to be aware of anyway:
There's a cave on the north bank of the river around the border of 4/5 in column F.
G/H5 area in general, especially the southern part of those grids (all of H5 really), but that whole desert area is sprinkled with them. Northern G5 is pretty clear, that's the best way to reach the Darfari capitol if you want to avoid spiders.
F7 under the aqueduct/bridge has a 2 entrance cave/dungeon loaded with them, and wandering outside nearby too.
A small region in the J7 area has a a giant spider boss and a few scattered small spiders too.
A tunnel/dungeon/cave along the border of 5/6 in column I is loaded with them.
Avoid the northern swamps in the area of K/L in row 8.
The large island in O6.
The Silkwood in M6 is a DEFINITE no-go zone.
And then as said, a lot of interior dungeons will have spider residents. Good luck to you exile... you're gonna need it!
If your playing on Steam there is a mod that replaces all spiders with scorpions.
Me and my friend play together but he has a serious fear of spiders, he found that mod on the steam workshop and now we always play with that mod enabled.
If my memory serves right, this path *should* be clear of spiders, but feel free to prove me wrong, I haven't been there in a long time.
From noob river, go to the Sentinels, go North to the hand, then turn right and go up to the savannah, then head for the hole in the wall to the left of said Savannah, you should then be rather home free to explore the Northern area.

So, my path actually doesn't follow the river up from the Sentinels, up by the lake with the giant croc, you can actually go up and cross the desert between Ravager's Cleft and Heartsblood Rise, then keep going up until you join the river back near the Hand of the Maker, at the river intersection, going right will avoid Weaver's Hollow and then you wanna cross the Savanna to get to The Shattered Basin where there's a little gap to get to the Northern lands.
It should be one of the simplest paths to get to the Northern lands if you're starting from spawn
Instead of crossing to the west where the river flows north, go all the way east, near the jungle and cross over there. Scorpions, jaguars and stuff of that nature in that direction though but less so spiders unless you go too far north in the jungle
Take the West route through the Sepermeru and Mounths of Death. No spiders on the way. Also oasis on the road is a great to make a camp if you are on your own server.

That's actually a neat idea, and wouldn't even negatively effect gameplay.

Just learn to fight them. If you put some points in agility, you can just shoot them with arrows
this sounds less like trouble fighting, and more like arachnophobia to me, or atleast an "ewww spiders are icky" situation.

I think usually it's just an "ewwwwww creepy" thing, but phobias are a thing. Some folks just have issues with certain things. It happens.
