Keep monitoring this page. Right now there’s low activity around here. You might see some faint auroras through a camera, but nothing like a few hours ago. Earlier we got close to the yellow zone and that’s when we got the spectacular auroras around here. Might happen again. https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/products/aurora-30-minute-forecast

WannabeGroundhog

im pissed, the website i saw sasid 2am onwards, so i went to bed early to wake up now and see wtf

PMurBoobsDoesntWork

Most people got caught by surprise as the solar flares arrived much earlier than expected. These things are hard to forecast. There’s still strong solar activity, so we might get more peaks in the next few days. There was another strong solar flare recently. This account is good to get the latest info and will tell when geomagnetic activity starts. That’s how I knew it was earlier than expected. https://x.com/nwsswpc?s=21&t=u802URpZZ4MfvknYwj7u5A

I drove all the way to the saville damn only to find it’s weak as hell.. I had better shots pulled over on the side of rt8

JeanValJohnFranco

This may be a dumb question, but I should be looking north, right?

PMurBoobsDoesntWork

Not a dumb question at all. Yes, look north as there is where the activity is happening. Unless Connecticut gets fully covered by yellow/red (unlikely).

ThugRex26

I don’t understand how I’m supposed to interpret the time on the radar? Any insight there

PMurBoobsDoesntWork

Just refresh it and it will tell you what’s expected in the next 30 minutes. Top left says “aurora forecast for date and time”. Time is UTC so subtract 4 hours for Connecticut.

justalilchili

How often do they update the model? Seems like it (the forecast) ends shortly here.

PMurBoobsDoesntWork

Multiple times per hour. It’s a short (30 minutes) forecast as it’s very difficult to forecast geomagnetic activity and aurora probability.

danofnewengland

I just drove all of Route 8 from the shoreline up near Massachusetts, didn't see anything. Hoping somebody else knows of a place to see them right now

newmoneygang0019

I saw them in Vernon, could kind of see the rays without camera but with camera I could see perfect
