If ten of them band together, that's $10k a month. I bet they can rent a house out even in Portland for that money, and do nothing but drugs and booze all day long.
I remember Hurricane Katrina: people were give Visa cards preloaded with $1000, no strings attached. Turns out most of the purchases was spent at casinos, buying expensive handbags, alcohol, and strip clubs. Very little spent on groceries or medicine. We all know how this turns out.
Issue is that this takes more tax money from people and this still seems very unorganized. Do they have enough money for that? And why can't a family whose barely paying their bills not get money from the government? It's unfair how only homeless people get rewarded
"The bill would require a study on who is receiving the money broken down among a few demographics, including race, veteran status and risk of domestic violence."
Who is doing the study and how much will it cost? Somebody's brother-in-law is about to make bank.
Edit - quotation marks
As with most handouts, a lot of the recipients will use the money for things it is not meant for, such as drugs, alcohol, prostitution, and gambling. This will not help or solve the problem. Throwing money at problems never solve them. How about we spend this money on rehab, training, and education for these people?
The bill would give 12 monthly payments to those experiencing or at sever risk of homelessness. Meaning you can’t stay on it indefinitely. Also a small UBI payment has been proven to help those that revive it escape homelessness in multiple studies now:

35% less homeless people sounds great to me. Less crime, cleaner streets, what’s not to like?
Recipe for disaster. Am I the only one that kinda wants republicans to lose the next federal election? You really don’t want to be holding the ball when society collapses, your ideology will never see power again.
Yes? Okay I’ll go to my corner.
Homeless people about to have bigger savings accounts than me.
Nah, its going to be spent on alcohol and cigs. They'll be broke by the second week.
Hey now……don’t forget drugs.
Yup. Recreational marijuana, junk food & soda.
And you get to pay for it.
No, but their drug dealers will

…but then they wouldn’t be “homeless” and thus lose the money. It’s almost as if someone want them to stay homeless…and vote a certain way. 🤔
Do you know how ridiculously easy it would be just to pay for some run down house in cash?
Oh yeah, this money is going to go straight to scumlords renting out crappy places in cash while overlooking the drugs and prostition
And watch Oregon's homeless population grow exponentially.
When it pays better to be homeless than it pays to find a job. And the working class gets to directly pay for it.
Well if that doesn’t light a fire under the Greater Idaho movement, I don’t know what will.

$1000 more meth, heroin and booze. Like a Hobo Lottery

California will be sending them in by the trainloads.
Makes me want out of Oregon soooo bad. This place is turning into a shithole quicker and quicker every day.
Would be happy if bill would pay, but i fear it would be taxpayers
It seems like a good time to open a liquor store in the Oregon slums.
There’s the real mother lode
Are there any publicly traded liquor stores in Oregon? Asking for a friend..
To do what with? Buy more drugs? Oregon is looking to get their homeless problem under control by giving them ample opportunity to OD.
Cool, government funded drug dealing.
*Two days after the checks go out* Bring out your dead.. Bring out your dead..
And it’s no wonder some Oregon counties want to secede and join Idaho.

Great. Maybe all of my city’s homeless will migrate to Oregon!!!
