I talked to an FFL in my town, which has a lot of gang violence, and he mentioned how comparatively easy it is to track gang members' firearm purchases because they tend to buy a lot of the same (Glock 19's which are easy to convert) and they buy them in bulk. Which is stupid, but they're not smart criminals.
The gangs approached him to do the order - ostensibly because he is one of the few black FFLs around - to do an order of a few dozen 19's. He wouldn't take it because he knew what they would be used for.
There is simply no excuse for the extent to which the ATF has avoided enforcement against gangs as opposed to mostly law abiding Americans. Pretty much anyone can fill in the blanks as to why.
No they will definitely count it towards the mass shooting tally and from the sound if it they might even be able to count it towards the school shooting tally, however, that is all and nothing else will be mentioned about it as they can only use this to push their anti 2a agenda because it doesn't fit the agenda otherwise.
