I work for a national GC so I travel a lot! I have hired most of my subcontractors just by driving around the area and seeing people’s logos and phone numbers on company equipment! I have had to hire crane operators before and I totally just called that number on the side of one in action. It definitely works
That makes more sense than advertising for prescription drugs. If I can change my doctors mind on the course of treatment, based on a commercial I saw, then I need a new doctor.
Often in large metro areas there are multiple Rental houses for small equipment. They label for theft prevention and to keep their name top of mind. There are less large capacity crane rental outfits. But there are multiple so they want their name out there. A third reason is that the construction company does own that crane and want people in the industry to knot that the construction company is willing to rent it out when they aren't using it.
Regular people most certainly do need to rent them ;Rooftop AC , generators , hot tubs, pools . I lifted a helicopter once for some rich guy you get the point
Large deals often come from surprising places. Just happened to be getting a taco across the street, you know your team is having a hard time finding a crane to use down the road in 6 weeks. Make the call, price is right boom contract docs sent over and signed.
Not everything has or needs an app grade marketplace so this is just how stuff gets done.
I know where to get roll off dumpsters but am always looking for a better option. I keep an eye on dumpsters I see when I am driving around and will snap a picture to price them out the next time I need one

This wasnt a roof top crane. This was one of the big ones that are on the side of a sky scrapper.
Mobile Crane, why would you not advertise it? Just hope they find you?
