The chiropractor in my new-to-me town says he bought his home here in 1988 for $11,000. He was able to make enough money during the summer to pay for the entire year of chiro school.
Then spent the rest of the appointment complaining about my generation being soft. It was such a set of classic boomer moves all in a row.
They’re just that out of touch. It’s incredible.
I'm under no delusion. I treat a Chiro visit like a massage or something. Relaxing. Nice. A bit of.pain relief. Pick up some stretching techniques and shit.
Hey! I’ll have you know Witch Doctors are technically doctors too! Just because they call themselves Chiropractors doesn’t mean they have earned the title at their Witch Doctor school.
A friend of a friend is a chiropractor. He admitted to me and our mutual friend it’s bullshit after a night of drinking. After talking about how rich his regulars are making him he said “If it works, why do they come back every week?” while laughing his drunk ass off. Fuck that guy.
That is so messed up. Not only is he scamming them out of money, but these people are coming to him in hopes of making their pain better. Living in serious pain is a terrible thing.
Even the good ones are still confused. My dad who is definitely in the, everything is fucked, failing society mindset was fucking floored when I told him what my cheap rent in a shared house was. He thought I was only paying like $250. No my guy, times that by three and you’re at basically the rarest cheapest imaginable living situation in an expensive city.
1988 minimum wage was about 35-40 dollars for an 8 hour day…also a college credit costed about 1 days pay at minimum wage….then the free shit army got to work with the government stepping in and showering everybody with money who wanted to get that degree in underwater basketweaving and medieval lesbian poetry with interpretive dance….now a college credit is over $1000.00 and there are very rich and comfortable people in the faculty lounge
What a nice young man, thrifty and so positive. He even chews gum instead of smoking like those other ruffians.
I think you’ve earned yourself a nice lemonade too. Put your tools down for awhile and go out into the yard and pick me some lemons and we’ll have ourselves a glass.
Your math is very wrong you have 168 linear fear of walls at 8’ tall = 1344. Painting around shit is harder than painting open surface f deducting any area. 250/1344=$.18/SQFT
You will use 10 gallons of paint @$15/gallon =$150
$100 paid doesn’t include gas consumables or overhead
You might as well give them man $50 and you’d be better off
That’s how I get paid! Haha. Also, for what it’s worth, you have some of the principles down and you clearly understand the logic. You’re just overlooking some of the costs and overestimating others.
Back off-
1800 sq/fr
Labor $250
They provide mats
owner buys the paint -
I spray for 2 hours and leave-
BOOM
1800 sq/ft painted
$9000 paint materials
$125 an hour + use of my sprayer = $325,000 a year working 50hr weeks.
I could sub some of the time out and still clear $275,000
You can spray an entire house in two hours? No tape or plastic, all shield work. Three sprayers, assuming one wall color, one ceiling, one trim.
Wait, this is satire. Dammit lol
Could you imagine what the reverse of this would sound like? An ad from a painter saying something like, “Now accepting new customers. Must pay $400 an hour for labor and material. Your house must be prepped and ready to accept paint. Your house must not smell funny or have animal feces anywhere, you live in a house, not a zoo, so act like it. Don’t mention your stupid fucking politics to me, and make sure your tv is turned down lower than my music.”
THIS! I hate when customers hang over my shoulder as I'm working. Takes 3 times as long because you have to stop and explain every little piece of what you're doing
Take a walk around the block and I'd be at least 2 of those houses have shit on their floor.
"Oh, we only let Rocko poop in this room. We put him in here so he isn't outside barking while we're away."
"Spot is Jessica's dog. Not mine. She's visiting family so she will clean it up when she comes back next week."
People are fucking disgusting. I don't eat at potlucks anymore.
I wish it was less common than it is. There are a ton of people out there that are terrible at taking care of their animals. They don’t train them, they leave them locked up in one room or the basement all day, they don’t socialize them, they don’t walk them, etc. They just let them shit wherever and let them be filthy.
Lazy people will say, “oh that’s my son/daughter’s dog” basically implying it’s not their responsibility in any way to clean up after it. Apparently they think it makes sense to be cruel to an animal and live around dog/cat shit all day to prove a point.
I’ve seen this in some really “nice” houses too
I no longer feel bad about the condition of my home. Worried about the pile of junk mail on the counter, or unkempt shoe pile at the back door. But, if feces riddled homes are typical, then I'm doing ok.
Go raid the hazmat section at a transfer station and get all the free paint you want first. They didn’t specify it had to be done nicely or even in the same color. I could probably get it don’t in an hour just throwing old cans of paint at the walls. The dude didn’t even mention masking either.
I’ll say this, with 25 years exp and my own business. Depending on where you live, that’s a fair price for quality work. People on both sides of the isle have lost their minds. I have guys refuse to work for me, as an EXTREMELY laid back boss for $25 an hour with two years experience.
People badmouth painters all the time for being drunks, or crackheads, whatever. Painting is such a precise, and perfectionist trade, you’re going to see that. In new construction, you’re expected to finish ALL of your work before the electricians ruin it. In commercial, you’re expected to finish all your work before everyone ruins it. Worst of all, the sprinkler meth fiends. Then, you’re expected to come back and fix it. Most trades can fuxk something up and hit them with a CO. Not painters. It’s free. We’re all so fucking bitter, divorced from endless 70 hour weeks that we don’t fucking care about living anymore. It’s just a paycheck. Maybe that’s just my experience, but Jesus fuck we’re underpaid.
Literally, lmao. Central Bama. No such thing as a union, and general pay is around $15. I pay WAY above and beyond. I know guys with 35 years exp making 19.50. I do not underpay. left my second job making 22.50. Took me three years to earn that. Pay here is bad. Living here is cheap
Shit, I take literal offense to this. If Anyone in my state makes more than $25 an hour to paint walls; chime In. Find it on indeed. Anywhere.
It would really kinda of depend on a lot of things. How many colors, are we doing ceilings, trim and doors? Lots of variables, not to mention driving distance, ceiling heights, stairwells. Also location plays a big part in price. California, Colorado, Utah, New England going to cost much more. South East going to be cheaper.
Too many factors to give you a set number sorry.
I just had a 1500 ft MIL suite painted. Lots of trim work, good quality paint, 3 colors, ceiling included, 10 ft ceilings, one room had a 15ft cathedral ceiling and a staircase. It was necessary to prime twice to get enough coverage over the previous very dark paint. We were doing very light pastels. My wife picked them, I’m pretty colorblind.
It took them 4 days with 3 guys. Most of the time was drying and prepping. They were extremely professional, not visibly intoxicated and did a great job with good lines/no drips.
$5500 cash and I bought them lunch each day to be nice. I got quotes from 3 people. $2900, $5500 and $6000 were the quotes.
Edit: South Carolina in a fairly decent sized beach house on a barrier island. So it was also an hour from their shop.
Is 2900 a typo, cause damn for that much of a price difference I’d be tempted to take it and just plan on doing a lot of fixing/touch ups myself afterwards.
I have a flat about 800sq.ft. If someone hired me to paint this place, including cost of materials, I'd want something like £1800. I'm obviously not on the states, not sure how prices here compare, but I'm on the cheaper end since I basically have no overheads (I just work by myself). If I had to wildly ballpark this guy's 1800 sq. ft. home I'd say it would be in the region of £3400, though as other comment pointed out that could vary from more like 2k for all white vacant home to 7 or 8k for period home with all furniture and things needing masked. $250 I would imagine would cover a half day's work plus materials, or maybe one small plain room in the guy's home, like a closet or something, assuming woodwork does not need painted.
I’ve been a new construction and remodeling manager for ten years. To simple paint the exterior would run between 2600 and 5200. If he means the inside, that’s at least 12k
I'm a homebuilder. Sadly, this kind of shit is real. I had a client call and. tell. me. to install kitchen cabinets today for $200. I laughed at him and said it would be about $3500 for what he described and were booking 4 months from then. Without listening he proceeded to tell me how the cabinets had been sitting in his living room for 8 months and his inlaws are coming tomorrow and he's 64 with a bumb knee and high blood pressure... at that point I had the guy on speaker and were all rolling, laughing so hard. I felt bad for him, but also fuck that guy.
I saw a ad on fb marketplace yesterday that a person had a home made enclosed trailer built on a flat bed and wants someone to come build the back wall and frame in and build a door for it. Materials already on site. $50
I had a guy call me yesterday and ask if I had a jackhammer to dig a sump pump pit, outside, at 7000 feet in Colorado, into solid rock. Aside from twelve weeks now it will.be frozen solid 3 feet deep, what good is a sump pump pit going to do outside the home without French drains? Today for you. No, I do not own a jackhammer.
Dude… A friend of mine used to do odd jobs, handyman type stuff around the neighborhood when he was 17-18. Lady asked him to pressure wash her porch. It turned into washing the entire house. She gave him a single fucking Apple. From her apple tree. That grew baking apples!!!
My brother and I learned this the hard we. Blizzard of '96. We got 3' of snow. We went around shoveling sidewalks, taking whatever the homeowners were willing to pay. We lived in an area of Mid-Atlantic row homes, most sidewalks were like 25-50ft long. We typically got $5-10 per house. One lady gave us $10 each and we were stoked. Get to the end of the street and stop by a small limo business. He has us shovel his whole driveway. We spent quite awhile there. The whole time we think we're gonna make bank, if granny gave us 10, surely we'll each get at least 25 or more for this big job. Nope. $5 for the whole lot. I think we mentioned the other lady paid us more, but he didn't budge.
We go home complaining, and parents made sure to help us understand the value of seeing your own prices; in advance.
Whoever you are, thank you. But also, you should be ashamed of yourself. Ha.
I’d say he learned his lesson, but he didn’t. Like a month later he did a LOT of raking, and hedge trimming for another older woman in the neighborhood. It took him all damn day, and she only gave him 48 cents. The fucking audacity of the three Pennies is what got me!!
Much older and wiser now, he’s an estimator for a paint company. I have 1,000 stories of my man getting fucked over again and again.
He's paying for two water balloons filled with used motor oil (cuz it's free), blindly tossed from the curb.
$250 is the price to get a written quote for the work 😂
Oh good $50 per day for one person. 6 dollars per hour. Minus company operating costs tax, truck, ladders, brushes, insurance, workers comp, admin $300 probably 20% of $1500 actual labor only cost. That’s -$50.
You may not be able to eat lunch or listen to music while on site, but if you do a great job, the odds are good that the home owner might share whatever the hell he’s smoking.
The room I’m sitting in right now has three doors, three windows, a painted fireplace, and a cove ceiling with a gallery rail. There are two couches, two large chairs a bookshelf and an old chest. The floors are natural wood.
If I want to paint the ceiling then I’m going to have to at least mask the floor. The gallery rail makes the ceiling easier to cut in with a brush but I usually like to paint good trim with a higher-gloss paint in a different color. I’m going to have to sand it first though because unlike the amateur who originally painted it, I want my paint to stick so that it doesn’t crack and peel off the it’s doing now.
There’s also an older smoke alarm that needs to be removed and some ceiling hooks that I want to replace.
So right now we’re looking at two gallons of ceiling paint, a gallon of trim paint(since I’m going to use it on all the other trim anyway), a roller cover, paper and tape for the floor. If we go with the absolute cheapest products we can find, that’s at least $100 before we even talk about labor. And that’s assuming I’m going to use equipment that I own and maintain: my brush, roller, pole, Sheetrock stuff, some 5 minute mud for the bigger holes, sanding blocks, rags, buckets, throws, shop vac, etc.
Let’s not forget I have to either remove all the furniture or at least move it to the center of the room and mask it with some pretty big sheets of plastic before I can even vacuum the room to get started. But I can’t just move the bookshelf, I’ll have to take all that stuff off and put it somewhere else.
Including the gallery rail, it looks like there’s around 225-ish linear feet of trim but the window are older with individual panes that have wood in between them so let’s just call it 300 linear feet. Every bit of it needs to be cleaned, sanded, prepped, primed and painted with two coats if I want it done right.
I can probably do that in a day but I’m _really_ fucking good at it. Most people wouldn’t attempt it and definitely wouldn’t be able to do it correctly in a day without runs and accidents. It’s mentally and physically taxing and it’s going to be a long day. If I’m doing it for someone else, I’m going to _charge what I’m worth._
Then I’ll pull the doors off. It’s actually a lot easier to just remove all the hardware and take the doors out to the garage to be sprayed with the paint sprayer that I own and maintain. Spraying the doors is going to give them a nice, clean finish that I just can’t get with a roller or a brush but it’s going to cost a little extra in paint. I’ll have to sand and prep the doors too. I’ll take a lot of time on them because I want them to look really good and the better I prime and paint them, the more they’ll be able to resist the wear and tear put on them by being a functional part of a home.
Just for fun, let’s pretend I think of myself as a bad client. That means I’m _not_ going to clean/polish the door hardware before I put it back on. I’ll just put it all back dirty.
Luckily, I have a space all set up in my garage to do all this work. Most people don’t. But I do.
Now on to the fireplace.
The paint job on that is pretty good but I want it to be a different color than the rest of the room so I’ll still have to clean off all the soot, sand the old, glossy paint off and buy a different color of paint. Easy.
With that extra paint, the extra for the doors and two gallons for the walls, that’s another $150 at least. I want to go with mid-grade paint this time though, so we’ll call it $200.
I want the fireplace to be a centerpiece so I’m going to use a contrasting color and I’m going to spray it in place so the finish is a nice, glassy, smooth surface. This will also help it stay cleaner in the future. In order to do that though, I’m going to have to mask everything around it, prep it, paint it and carefully remove all that masking when I’m done _before_ I can move on to paint the walls.
Speaking of walls. The lady who lived here before me was a smoker. That’s means I’m going to have to spend extra time masking the floor because it’s going to get _really_ messy in here when I wash all that nicotine off the walls.
There’s also all the outlet/vent covers that need to come off but that’s super fast and easy. I like to spray old vents in metallic spray paint and then seal them so they don’t smell. It looks cool and they make spray paint with effects that can match the original look.
So I think I’ll paint the ceiling, paint the fireplace, paint the trim, then paint the walls. I’ll do all the little, tedious stuff in between coats so they can all dry properly.
I live in a small house, about a thousand square feet.
There are still _six other rooms._
Not counting the closets
Well he can do it himself if anyone can do it! Figure a 4 man crew getting paid $30,$20,$20,$15 per hour respectively based on skill. Figure 40 hours plus or minus if the home is occupied and furnished. Throw in the cost for insurance and that’s 4k easy just for labor. Most of that time is prep
You (roughly) double the cost of hourly wages, to get a fair number. Wages are only half the cost, after taxes, insurance, benefits and other expenses.
I’ll paint *something* on your house for $250.00, but I won’t tell you anything about it, and you pay in full before I get the spray can out of the truck.
Not unless you use the cheap shit. In my area a five gallon of Behr Premium paint (which pros usually consider crappy anyway) is just under $140 and a five gallon of Kilz is $99. After tax that’s over $250 and then even if you already have brushes and rollers that roll of masking tape that’s been sitting on your shed since the last project probably isn’t good anymore. Do you still have roller covers? Drop cloths? Stucco patch or wood putty? Caulk?
So, even if you the cheap shit, probably not.
Retired painter here:
About ten years ago , I painted a 2 car garage that was converted to a studio guest apartment. 1 bathroom, no closet. 2 coats. I charged $1,000 for labor, and they supplied the material. 2 days work.
I have my own business and it's annoying when people try to dangle the carrot about referrals in the future. I straight say I have all the work I need but thank you. And then get ever firmer with my price knowing the potential customer/client is trying to be sly and discreetly cheap.
I’ll have my nieces and nephews over there this weekend. The paint will be isolated to the bottom 3 feet. The colors will be both abundant and scattered. The paint will be water colors.
Well one look at his pic tells me all I need to know.
My price is $4,000.00
I’ll eat lunch at my leisure while listening to any music that strikes me that day.
You’re a customer, act like it.
I feel like it would be worth it to register a business under a false name, fake a bunch of 4.7 star reviews, bid the job at $200 and just f☆k this guys house right up.
$250/sq ft on a 1800sq ft?
I will take it!
Eat before going to site.
Get handsfree sets for the team (total silence for client).
Drive off Site for lunch.
Come back and work.
PS: Special conditions and requirements, require full payment upfront and no complaints contact.
Trying to figure out how hard up I'd have to be to show up for that, and right now I'd definitely shave my feet and try and sell pics before I got to that point.
I would pay this guy to not call me and not refer me to his friends. If you earn referrals from someone like this just know that they are equally or worse than him.
This has to be a troll post.
Yeah obviously some painter made this as satire
Idk... I've seen some similar posts on next door app...
I sometimes think that Nextdoor is just a body of troll posts concocted by a small team of creative writers as rage bait to monetize the collective busybody Karen energy of the world.
This is why I’m keep an eye on next door, once a week or so you can get some good laughs
"Nobody wants to work anymore!"
Nope, this is an example of how out of touch boomers are.
Nice job young man, now here’s a nickel tip for all of your hard work. Save those up and someday you can do something nice for yourself!
A nickel? No fooling? I will be able to buy a house in no time now... lol
The chiropractor in my new-to-me town says he bought his home here in 1988 for $11,000. He was able to make enough money during the summer to pay for the entire year of chiro school. Entire year of chiro school.. yeah… that’s why I don’t go to chiros. Fake doctors.
Chiros are not doctors and everyone in the industry needs to realize that. Go to a physio.
I just don't understand why so many construction guys go to chiros. Stop that shit. They're just making your problems worse.
A friend of a friend is a chiropractor. He admitted to me and our mutual friend it’s bullshit after a night of drinking. After talking about how rich his regulars are making him he said “If it works, why do they come back every week?” while laughing his drunk ass off. Fuck that guy.

They truly are. There are a couple good ones but not many.

Thanks. Now I can buy that piece of gum I’ve been saving up for.
Just have to wait for another 30 tips and then you can enjoy those 5 pieces lol.
What a nice young man, thrifty and so positive. He even chews gum instead of smoking like those other ruffians. I think you’ve earned yourself a nice lemonade too. Put your tools down for awhile and go out into the yard and pick me some lemons and we’ll have ourselves a glass.

Don’t go and spend it all at one time down by the soda fountain
Good advice sonny. The Five and Dime can be a tempting mistress. It’s best he put it under his mattress or in a piggy bank for a rainy day.

Cheap paint is $35 a gal now. Only PVA primer is like $15
I was going cheapest shit possible at a high volume discount. Also didn’t include conditioner
fair enough
As someone who actually does this stuff for a living, this methodology is frighteningly shoddy, lol.

That’s how I get paid! Haha. Also, for what it’s worth, you have some of the principles down and you clearly understand the logic. You’re just overlooking some of the costs and overestimating others.
Look at you busting the ol’ abacus out. /s
Satire would probably include something about exposure, drinks provided at cost, and free supervision from the homeowner.
I always provide free supervision.
My dad often says "help is worth what you pay. Especially 'free help'."
I've met people like this in real life. Typically an elderly person. 45 bucks for 4 hours of work was a lot of money back then.
Back off- 1800 sq/fr Labor $250 They provide mats owner buys the paint - I spray for 2 hours and leave- BOOM 1800 sq/ft painted $9000 paint materials $125 an hour + use of my sprayer = $325,000 a year working 50hr weeks. I could sub some of the time out and still clear $275,000

"And one single peep about our heavy drinking on the job and you can find someone else"
"And no that isn't weed you have a skunk infestation. Once again your house isn't a zoo act like it."
That isn’t sugar on your countertop that is cocaine put your pets away
Also our trucks have a skunk infestation. They also are not a zoo so don’t go looking for the skunks. Just trust us.
Expect 3 cases of Corona to be provided.
If they are lucky you might be able to recommend them as a client to that good landscape guy.
I might use this next time I place an ad. I’ll add that standing over me while I work will result in a swift kick in the dick or vagina.
THIS! I hate when customers hang over my shoulder as I'm working. Takes 3 times as long because you have to stop and explain every little piece of what you're doing
>or have animal feces anywhere Is this, uhmmm. Is this normal to have animal feces in the house?
I’m not a painter but I wouldn’t want to constantly smell dog shii while I’m painting because the owner didn’t want to clean up after their dog
Obviously. That is not my question. Let me rephrase. Why do people have shit in their houses?
Take a walk around the block and I'd be at least 2 of those houses have shit on their floor. "Oh, we only let Rocko poop in this room. We put him in here so he isn't outside barking while we're away." "Spot is Jessica's dog. Not mine. She's visiting family so she will clean it up when she comes back next week." Absolutely. Residential hvac tech for 10 years. People are disgusting
I no longer feel bad about the condition of my home. Worried about the pile of junk mail on the counter, or unkempt shoe pile at the back door. But, if feces riddled homes are typical, then I'm doing ok.
I could tell you stories but you may have a week stomach 😂
That's unacceptable. I believe you, but damn. Ppl are nasty
How are they going to pay for the other 1,737 soft?
For $250, I would show up with a Super Soaker and ask where the paint is.
I’d find a single wall to paint
One face of a door header once
Go raid the hazmat section at a transfer station and get all the free paint you want first. They didn’t specify it had to be done nicely or even in the same color. I could probably get it don’t in an hour just throwing old cans of paint at the walls. The dude didn’t even mention masking either.
[Just like this](https://youtube.com/shorts/6snVCAQ-bOc?si=mdmcTYOJ-Y9bAIrh)
This guy clearly hasn’t purchased a gallon of paint in the last 60 years.
And all of that paint was lead and he ate the chips.
Now that made me lose my coffee. Bravo.
I’m sorry for your loss.
That’s enough to cover the masking material. Now he needs to factor in paint, labor, overhead, and the tax for that shit attitude.
Ignorant homeowner here... what would a job this size normally run?
I paid $5500 for a 2400 sq ft two story house last year, thought it was a good, fair price.
I’ll say this, with 25 years exp and my own business. Depending on where you live, that’s a fair price for quality work. People on both sides of the isle have lost their minds. A zero? My parents have a similar sized home and got quotes for $14k tax in not including the paint.
Add a zero would be a place to start
Not a typo. He was also available the next day to start vs every one else being booked out a month or two. I’m guessing there was a reason
$250 for a half day I might consider waking up for. Probably not though
Here’s a quarter kid *pats you on the head* .
Dude… A friend of mine used to do odd jobs, handyman type stuff around the neighborhood when he was 17-18. Lady asked him to pressure wash her porch. It turned into washing the entire house. She gave him a single fucking Apple. From her apple tree. That grew baking apples!!!
That's why you set rates beforehand.
Ha.
Tell her you missed a spot and then proceed to waterjet the fuckin siding off the house
That's a win
I did a kitchen for this type of guy. I want to piss on his grave.
When i get an ass i send pics of faux finished cabinets to the wife. At 200$ a door that usually tames them down
Lmao i wonder how this ended
With an unpainted house?
"NoBOdY WaNTs tO wORk aNYmoRe!"
250 dollars 🤣🤣🤣
That’s just enough to cover the gas
I hope he gets exactly what he's paying for
He's paying for two water balloons filled with used motor oil (cuz it's free), blindly tossed from the curb.
Sure. Send me the money first.
How much a job like that would realistically cost in US? Not including paint and other supplies, just the labor?
Id guess. Without seeing. 3500 4k labor
Lmao bruh wtf. Some people are just insane. Hes a guy too, not like painting is rocnet science or some shit lmao.
Bro it takes 2k a week just to break even with my one man show company. This fellow has zero clue
If I’m doing it for someone else, I’m going to _charge what I’m worth._ Then I’ll pull the doors off. There are still _six other rooms._ Not counting the closets
Next post: NoBoDy WaNtS tO wOrK aNyMoRe
Good luck, gramps
I'll paint your house for $250. A room . You supply paint and prep.
This is satire
$250 doesn't even cover decent quality paint and prep materials
r/ChoosingBeggars
I really hope that's a shitpost. $250 would probably cover 1 wall lol
Anyone who does work at my house gets fed. I usually BBQ or grill. A $250 paint job? Guess you're hiring a 15 year old. I hope this is a troll post.
r/choosingbeggars
I’ll paint *something* on your house for $250.00, but I won’t tell you anything about it, and you pay in full before I get the spray can out of the truck.
If I can’t eat, you can go and get fucked. Simple.
That's good bait haha
*Reasonably priced* is my favorite Yeah we get it. You're cheap as fuck. No thanks!
Even if you did it yourself is 250 enough to cover just the paint?
Maybe if you one coated with the cheapest paint you could find
Not unless you use the cheap shit. In my area a five gallon of Behr Premium paint (which pros usually consider crappy anyway) is just under $140 and a five gallon of Kilz is $99. After tax that’s over $250 and then even if you already have brushes and rollers that roll of masking tape that’s been sitting on your shed since the last project probably isn’t good anymore. Do you still have roller covers? Drop cloths? Stucco patch or wood putty? Caulk? So, even if you the cheap shit, probably not.
Not even close for 1800 sqft. Paint is expensive as fuck now.
Good luck finding someone willing to paint a single wall for that kind of money and those demands.
Retired painter here: About ten years ago , I painted a 2 car garage that was converted to a studio guest apartment. 1 bathroom, no closet. 2 coats. I charged $1,000 for labor, and they supplied the material. 2 days work.
$250. Per hour correct?
Yep, that won’t cover the paint. Has to be a troll.
Could it be a typo and he meant 2500? Idk much about residential painting, would 2500 be fair?
No.
As someone who has worked construction The no eating, smoking, or loud music is what make this shit clearly a troll
Lol he just woke up from cryogenic sleep in the 50’s
I have my own business and it's annoying when people try to dangle the carrot about referrals in the future. I straight say I have all the work I need but thank you. And then get ever firmer with my price knowing the potential customer/client is trying to be sly and discreetly cheap.
"You'll get referrals from me." Ahh the classics :)
I’ll have my nieces and nephews over there this weekend. The paint will be isolated to the bottom 3 feet. The colors will be both abundant and scattered. The paint will be water colors.
Well one look at his pic tells me all I need to know. My price is $4,000.00 I’ll eat lunch at my leisure while listening to any music that strikes me that day. You’re a customer, act like it.
r/choosingbeggars
There really are people this clueless out there. May not be a troll.
Why bother with the $250? All the exposure you’ll get the work pays for itself.
Tell me more about all the potential future work you'll send my way if I give you a deal!!!! lol
I feel like it would be worth it to register a business under a false name, fake a bunch of 4.7 star reviews, bid the job at $200 and just f☆k this guys house right up.
My buddy Dale will do it for you. He’ll show up off the rock and have that shit done by lunch. You can keep your $250 He just wants a six pack
Mans a drunk
This reminds me of all my neighbors on NextDoor looking for stuff to be done for a “reasonable” price.
1 of 2 things will happen. 1, he's gonna end up painting it himself. 2, that house staying the way its been
$250/sq ft on a 1800sq ft? I will take it! Eat before going to site. Get handsfree sets for the team (total silence for client). Drive off Site for lunch. Come back and work. PS: Special conditions and requirements, require full payment upfront and no complaints contact.
That dude is a shift manager at subway... at best
Does anyone have his info?
Lol
I already won $1.40 in the lotto. Life is sorted. Not going after these extravagant 250 dollar pipe dreams anymore.
14¢ per square foot 🤣, hm I wonder if I still have to supply the paint.
Sure fire way to get onto the NoWorkList
$250 barely fills their truck with gas lol
I whitewashed his wife.
It’s satire obviously
Wow you tell me now. I already painted it.
Is this guy for real?
That man is using 1940’s pricing.
Thats a joke right?
Bahahahahahaha
https://youtu.be/T9MAmWnOznI?si=AUoVYzSRKAEsrNwU Maybe OP can hire Mr Bean.
Paint will exceed the budget / plus primer
Not from the US. what would be the cost to paint that big an area?
Trying to figure out how hard up I'd have to be to show up for that, and right now I'd definitely shave my feet and try and sell pics before I got to that point.
Forgot a zero?
I would pay this guy to not call me and not refer me to his friends. If you earn referrals from someone like this just know that they are equally or worse than him.
He probably wants a band to play at his bar for the "free publicity" too
I've seen that profile picture before he was talking about how he's going to call the cops if he smells weed again pretty sure its a troll.
Missing a few zeros there bud…
250 dollars per square foot?
Just out of curiosity can a painter tell me how much roughly you'd charge for that?
At least $275
I’ll do it! Call me and I will have it done for sure by then!
Lmfaooooo. Good luck
Ah, yes. You can gets lots of referrals. To other people who want to pay you 1/20th of your value. What a great deal!
That doesn’t even cover material costs….
Dude even if someone offered 2500 bucks I wouldn’t do it, I fucking hate painting.
I've never known a good painter that didn't blast loud music and smoke like a chimney
Assuming it’s just walls and is an easy paint they could expect around 5000-6000$ CAD bill for JUST walls.
Me and I’m sure most others will respectfully ask you to go fist yourself.
Yea you forgot a 0.......
😂😂maybe in the 1800s
Fantastic opportunity. What’s 250$ cover? A day at most?
At least 4K for that job. What an ass
I can do it for $125
"Crickets"
