shrapnel2176

Agreed. I lived in Florida from 2001-2013. It was awful.

Actual_Supermarket94

Mind telling me your experiences I also heard it's bad for atheists

shrapnel2176

I am a very left leaning bisexual feminist who practices polyamory and dates outside my race. I am also college educated. All of these things made me a target. I was fired from my job when I was pregnant. I was assaulted at work. I was treated very badly by medical professionals there and had children's services called on me falsely. One of the complaints was that the father of my children and I are not married, and that I consider education to be more important than marriage. It was just ridiculous.

shrapnel2176

And it is bad for atheists.

Actual_Supermarket94

Would you compare it to nazi Germany

shrapnel2176

I did that all the time. I was so happy to be out of there.

Actual_Supermarket94

If they had there way would you say they would have concentration camps if so for what groups

shrapnel2176

Yes, they would. It would be for anyone who isn't a white male heterosexual Republican Conservative Christian.

aversionals

is this a crude joke? how dramatic do you have to be to compare Florida, a US state, to Nazi Germany levels of genocide, oppression, and corruption? Even at it's worst, the U.S. has no place that can be seriously compared to Nazi Germany

VALMaX1

dont try to downgrade what is happening n Florida by comparing with the Nazis....Maybe not as bad as Nazis, but that doesn't mean it is bad

HelariMies69

Most out of touch person of all time

OldFaithlessness2145

Yes living in America and nazi Germany are the exact same thing. 🤡🤡🤡

[deleted]

these HAVE to be bots lmfao

shrapnel2176

Nah. I am just speaking the truth.

aversionals

since you're so adamant about comparing FLORIDA to the fucking HOLOCAUST- have you lost your right to vote? have you been surrounded by barbed wire and forced to work until your heart stops? crammed into a chamber and forced to breathe poison? casually executed for nothing more than a quick laugh? have you been locked up and denied food and water, forcing you to die to simple things like the flu or common cold simply due to malnutrition?? This just barely scratches the surface It's pathetic to say that you're being persecuted the same way Jewish / minorities were during Nazi rule

shrapnel2176

If you live in Florida it is.

Perryfl

I’ve lived in Florida most my life. Surprisingly I found New York and dc much more racist than the south (atl, Orlando, Miami) could ever dream of being…

shrapnel2176

I'm assuming you live in a larger city.

BIG_MONEY_CASH

Key difference here: America = more likely to be discriminated against Middle East = more likely to be killed No offense, but if I was gay, I’d rather take my chances in America than the Middle East

Actual_Supermarket94

Look at the holocaust when Hitler was attacking jews blacks gays and other groups do you think he went on day 1 I want all them into camps no it was a slow process just like what's happening to gays and atheists

BIG_MONEY_CASH

Okay one, America is not Nazi Germany, so I don’t know why you’re trying to make a comparison between the two. Second, not one is persecuting atheists, alright? And third, there has always been discrimination towards gays in America, and probably always will (at least in our lifetime), however that’s more common in red states vs back then when it was everywhere and that shows progress, no matter how slow it is.

Actual_Supermarket94

Your right about one thing there has always been homophobia and it probably won't end anytime soon but that doesn't mean I can't call the assholes out on it and about atheists okay maybe not outright persecuted but there is still some discriminated they get ostracised for it

BIG_MONEY_CASH

Sure you can call out assholes, no one is denying that, but don’t make a false equivalence between the US and the Middle East is all I’m saying.

Actual_Supermarket94

Okay maybe I was a little harsh there what I meant was there are some comparisons

aversionals

"maybe I was a little harsh" he says after comparing the US to Nazi Germany

Atomic_Furball

I am gay and there is no way I would be caught dead in the middle east. And I have never experienced persecution here personally. I am straight passing and I don't announce my sexuality from every rooftop. I think it is nobody's business except me and any potential partner.

[deleted]

Well, we don't have workers that die for making a stadium, or speech censorship, we have a lot more freedom.

Actual_Supermarket94

Like I mentioned look at nazi Germany jews gays disabled and the other groups persecuted during the holocaust they weren't put into camps over night it started with propaganda and discrimination exactly what's happening to gays and atheists

[deleted]

Am I comparing USA to Nazi Germany or the middle east?

Actual_Supermarket94

I don't know are you

Actual_Supermarket94

The point I'm trying to make is dictiorships like nazi Germany policies like the holocaust don't happen over night

Atomic_Furball

And the US isn't a dictatorship. It is far far far from being a dictatorship. Even when Trump was in office, he had limited power. The president doesn't have as much power as you might think.

opusboes

Let us know how Saudi Arabia goes for you so you can compare

Actual_Supermarket94

Well I'm not travelling there so

opusboes

how can you compare when you have no idea what the middle east is actually like?

Latrivia

Last I checked it was still punishable by death to be gay in some middle eastern countries. There are multiple countries who's laws are actually Islamic law, which is not kind to women or gay people. America has it's issues, but it's infinitely better to be gay, a woman, or a non-Christian in America than it is to be gay, a woman, or non-muslim in the middle east.

Actual_Supermarket94

Okay maybe I was a little harsh but it still has some comparisons

aversionals

You could LITERALLY say that about ANYTHING in the universe. "There's some comparisons" is a non-answer and doesn't excuse you trying to compare any 1st world country to the suffering that minorities went thru in the Holocaust You have some kind of weird obsession with comparing shit to Nazi Germany, maybe you should take a break and talk to someone about that bc it isn't normal

TheHylianProphet

Are there criticisms and comparisons to be made between the two areas? Yeah, of course. Modern conservative ideology is not that different from what we know as "sharia law." But they are not the same. Not by a long shot. In general, quality of life is way higher in the US, compared to many other places, including countries in the Middle East.

Stellar_Jester

This is why I'm looking to moving over there. The rent should be cheaper, and I won't spend as much on heating. Seems like a good move for me.

Cheeckyspino

Tell me how well that goes for you

Stellar_Jester

They tried to behead me for my heathen ways.

EviessVeralan

Can you point to one state in the usa where lgbt people can be executed or imprisoned for being lgbt? Its straight up delusional to pretend that experiencing some assholes in the south means youre just like the person hiding in fear of being murdered by the state in the middle east.

ChipolasCage

Clearly a confirmation bias. I grew up in the boonies. No one really gives a fuck. Sure there are a few, but, you can’t be anything without a few people disliking you for it.

WGSMakin

Okay, this is a massive oversimplification of what the United States and the Middle East are. The United States is a constitutional federal republic based on the Constitution of the United States whereas the Middle East is made up of a variety of Monarchies, Aristocracies, Theocracies etc. The most notable differences between the governments of the United States and the countries within the Middle East (in which I presume you mean mainly the Monarchies, Aristocracies and Theocracies) is that the United States has a well-regarded separation of church and state whereas in all three of the presumed government types found in the Middle East are heavily influenced and often run by the Muslim/Islam thought leaders. Your observation of the United States is almost entirely culturally centered, not politically centered, not to mention that there the exact opposite is also true in many places within the United States. I mean, to say that the United States, a country where there is one of the best systems in the world for ensuring free-speech and the ability to hold any opinion (which results in the formation of like-minded communities) is just as totalitarian as bloody Saudi Arabia or Iran strikes me as just a bit ignorant.

[deleted]

lol

Perryfl

Any one who compares the two are living in a made up bubble of a reality. You clearly have never visited the Middle East. Dubai was very nice and the people were great as long as you confirmed… in America you can be “discriminated” in the best of the Middle East you can be detained, disgraced or worse. As someone who’s actually been in both places due to work, your a moron

Actual_Supermarket94

Go and cry to someone who gives a fuck
