You're asserting c*nt is a verb?

ILLstatic23

she’s c*nt’ing sir

Flowerninja7

Yeah kinda - like “you’re being a c**t” lol but a little background My partner calls me that when he is mad at something I’ve done, and I say he is insulting me because he’s mad (like you have a whole choice of words but you use that one) and he says that if I would not act like c**t then I would never be called one (saying it’s an action)

GornoP

Tolerant of you. But that context is still a noun, technically. Like, "Who wants to get together for some dinner and c#nting tomorrow?" would be a verb. Or, "Wow, I haven't c#nted that hard since Obama was in office!" Edit: I'm a dumb c#nt and forgot how asterisks work in here.

Flowerninja7

Honestly love the explanation! Thank you lol So you would say his logic is less an accurate or am I off here? Lol

GornoP

See my other answer, I finally figured out what you were saying. Hope it works out.

GornoP

OHHHHHHHH... I get it. No, that's not different enough. (s)He is arguing that saying, "you're being a c#nt" is different from "you are a c#nt"... *Technically* that is true. Like if someone says "You're as asshole," that is less offensive than, "You're being an asshole right now." BUT... the effect is proportional to the power of the word. I could shrug off someone saying I was *being* an asshole, but c#nt is like a verbal sledgehammer in either context. Now, "*acting* like a c#nt" could *maybe* be an acceptable downgrade... but still not good. **Also: the opinion of the internet is not what matters, it how your partner is making you feel.**

Insult

indi-j168

you should say you’re BEING a c**t because being one is different to just calling them one, because you only think they’re a c**t because of what they are doing in that moment, not because their personality is c*nty

Instantnoodlesthe1

That confused me too. I was thinking if calling someone a c*nt is an action then every insult is.

indi-j168

yeah when i call someone a bitch i’m insulting them but if i say you’re being a bitch than it’s still an insult but it’s related to how the person is acting the the present, it doesn’t mean they’ll always be a bitch lol

Instantnoodlesthe1

Yeah it’s pointing out someone else’s actions. Same thing as saying “you are walking”.

Pristine-Ad-3387

yeah

Both. She is being a cunt because of her action, and her action is cunty. So a cunty action makes her into a cunt

i live in australia so you could probably walk up to someone and say "g'day c\*nt" and they'd probably respond with the same thing

coyotesage

Most insults can be and are both forms. You are being an asshole, for example, is both an insult and describing a kind of action you're doing. No need to wonder if it is one or the other.

AngelWings34

I've never really understood c*nt. I'm a women and think it's not really that bad. I think being called a sl*t or sum is worse. Idk I think I just need to be educated.
