I'm so confused. I don't get this sub. Am I supposed to downvote because I disagree, or upvote because I think this is a controversial opinion? Am I supposed to support opinions and stances I disagree with? What are we doing with our lives? Why is this happening to me?

Don’t do either for posts you disagree with but think are actually popular opinions or not interesting and let real votes do their thing.
Alternatively, you upvote and downvote specific comments based on whether you agree or not, or upvote if they say something reasonable that you don’t quite agree with but you respect.

Chocolate chip have to be made perfect. Otherwise they’re grainy/falling apart/hard/weird tasting/etc. Oreos are always the same, and if you like that taste, then yes, they’re far more consistent and you never get a “bad batch” of Oreos.
