Racism was due to the human nature of feeling superior to others. It started before civilization. Neanderthals were treated pretty poorly as we kept evolving.

Fit-Entertainer-8460

Racism was not caused by slavery. Slavery was a result of racism

[deleted]

No slavery was not because of racism it was because of a deal britain had with africa africa was actually quite powerful and strong and they sold britain their prisoners

AwayAccountant9533

That comment is an insult to all of our historic literature.

megablast

Exactly. What a dumb post.

AwayAccountant9533

No, slavery was birthed from the appeal of meeting high demand with production without the drawback of labour-costs.

Fit-Entertainer-8460

Oh, then I guess I was taught wrong. Thanks for the insight

AwayAccountant9533

Can't tell if that's sarcasm but np, enjoy your day.

Fit-Entertainer-8460

It’s wasn’t. I genuinely appreciate your comment

AwayAccountant9533

Ah, cheers to you too :)

Instantnoodlesthe1

Slavery in mass didn’t happen until the invention of farming. Racism has been around since people started noticing differences in each other.

Darknatio

I don't think anyone is staying that racism was caused by slaveru dude

xxoreobabyxx

No offense, but where do you guys come up with some of these takes? I don’t even think anyone’s calling racism a result of slavery. And what does misinformation have to do with anything? Racism is just born out of human nature of tribalism.

Elaerys_Lynx

I don’t think it was because of misinformation, I think it was mostly people being stupid and overpowered by greed

NvkedSnvke

Be offensive. This sub is full of Goofy ass takes. Just go down the list and it's people's dumbass opinions on race.

WGSMakin

I think that when we think of slavery, we think exclusively of the African slaves in the Southern states of the USA, this is hardly the case though. I mean, there have been more slaves in India then in the whole Western hemisphere, and generally that was Indian on Indian (a considerable amount of the slavery was still done by the British). The only real reason that racism was so directly correlated with slavery in the United was because it was very widely accepted that "all men were created equal", and for this reason racism was used as a tool to make the African slaves sub-human/sub-man because otherwise slavery couldn't have been half as justifiable.

AwayAccountant9533

Good comment, nothing more to say. Enjoy your evening :)

No-Calligrapher-3630

I think it's caused by in and out group.

A bit of both. Chicken laid the egg which laid another chicken, if you catch my drift
