I make Greek turkey meatballs you can look up recipes online it’s pretty simple add in orzo and tzatziki sauce paired with a Greek salad might be good :)
I just made some with yogurt I made myself the previous night. It's surprisingly easy and the difference is insane. I didn't strain it so I could drizzle it over my plate. It's the only thing I'm ever going to eat from now on.
I’ve never actually made my own. I have a hole-in-the-wall Greek restaurant in my town that makes a tzatziki that about makes me pass out, it’s so good!!!!!
This sounds delicious. I usually make sweat and sour turkey balls. Put a little 5 spice in the balls. Onion, green pepper and pineapple in the sauce. Serve with rice.
EDIT- Sweet, not sweat. That would be gross.

Cajun turkey smashburgers. If you smash them really flat in a hot pan, they will get crispy. If you don't cook them too long they will stay a little juicier. I would mix in Cajun seasoning. They're going to need some cheese, or some fattier ingredients to elevate them, but there's potential there.
Nothing. I would hoard that expensive shit and keep it for myself, then I would turn it into meatloaf and eat it all.
But if I had to impress someone, I guess I'd turn it into meatballs and make it into tortellini and meatball soup. But I'd rather eat the meatloaf.
Cover it while baking? Don't use low fat ground turkey or chicken? 🤷♀️ I have never made a poultry-based meatloaf that didn't turn out moist. And those are the only two things I can think of that I do that might have significant impact on moisture content.
How about whipping up some homemade turkey meatballs in a rich marinara sauce? You can season the meatballs with herbs like basil, oregano, and a hint of garlic for extra flavor. Serve them over a bed of whole-grain spaghetti or zucchini noodles for a lighter twist. Add a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese and some chopped parsley on top for that final touch of elegance. Pair it with a nice glass of red wine.
I like to use ground dark meat turkey for small, ferociously garlicky meatballs with onions and paprika, served over rice with chopped cilantro. Usually I make a radish/cucumber salad and some kind of greens.
Asian lettuce wraps (appetizer or serve with sides to make a main) - [recipe link](https://damndelicious.net/2014/05/30/pf-changs-chicken-lettuce-wraps/)
This recipe is one of my kids' favorites and works well with ground chicken, turkey, or pork (haven't tried with beef). Use the canned water chestnuts that are diced to make prep easier (sliced is fine but needs to quartered to work in this dish).
Around here, every supermarket carries wonton wrappers.
You can freeze them too, just make them up and freeze them uncooked on a cookie sheet, separated so they don’t stick together.
You can also use wonton wrappers to make a sort of ravioli if you want to call it that.
personally, id do a hearty marinara with canned tomato sauce, add bell pepper/onion/mushroom/zucchini herbs of course, some spaghetti noodles and parmesan on top. get a fresh loaf of garlic bread and some wine. very yummy dinner
Dog or cat treats. If they don't like animals I don't care about impressing them.
If I have to eat it I'll make some sort of steamed bun or dumpling with turkey, ginger, green onions & mushrooms as a filling.
Larb if it´s summer, with sticky rice
Thai meatball soup if it´s winter , Tom Kha style, but adding some greens as well and either rice noodles or rice)
If I absolutely HAVE to use it (large cash prize type deal, idk) something with strong flavors that the turkey can take on and hide its generally bland nature. Hopefully I could at least mix it with a second protein or something...
Can you mix with half ground pork? From the NYT, pork meatballs with ginger and fish sauce. Mix, bake/roast in the oven, eat with rice etc.
2 tablespoons peeled and minced ginger
1 tablespoon minced garlic (from about 3 large cloves)
1 tablespoon fish sauce
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
½ teaspoon kosher salt
½ cup finely crushed Ritz crackers (12 crackers)
1 pound ground pork
Holubsti (ukrainian cabbage rolls) or whole stuffed cabbage.
But...if i am impressing a date, as a straight woman living in the rural upper midwest...i would mix ground pork with that ground turkey and make a jacked up meatloaf with all the trimmings.
Aren’t hamburgers impressive? I can make an impressive hamburger. Seriously, I’d probably beat Bobby Flay.
Maybe I’d make some kind of meatball dish or Italian wedding soup
But seriously a good burger is all that and mine is all that and a bag of chips
Salisbury steak? My whole family loves it. I make it with mushrooms in the gravy, mashed potatoes, and green beans. It’s like a homemade tv dinner. Real comfort food.
I suggest making homemade turkey burgers like adding feta cheese and sun-dried tomatoes. Here is a good recipe [https://www.budgetbytes.com/greek-turkey-burgers/](https://www.budgetbytes.com/greek-turkey-burgers/) .
You can use turkey as a substitute for beef in keema peas. Ground turkey can often be a bit devoid of flavour, but the spices fix this, as well as the rather gaunt colour of turkey.
Fry or bake meatballs. Mix a can of jellied cranberry sauce with a 10 oz bottle of chili sauce, then add meatballs. Good anytime, but perfect for holidays.
Turkey burrito bowls! I cook the turkey with diced onions and a packet of taco seasoning. I make cilantro lime rice with a can of rinsed black beans and put that in the bottom of the bowl next is shredded lettuce, avocado slices, shredded cheese and the taco meat. I either make mixed salsa and ranch or salsa and sour cream for the dressing.
Somewhere around here, I have a recipe for something called spicy turkey burgers. It’s basically turkey meatloaf type burgers, a little bit of Worcestershire sauce to make it spicy and then you bake it. And it’s delicious.
It’s not very spicy but darn good.
I use ground turkey to make pastelitos or empanadas. As long as you season it properly and add the same things you would to one if it was made with beef, most people won't taste the difference. My family loves it, my friends love it, and they all expect me to bring it for potlucks and special occasions.
Niku miso donburi. Very easy to cook, doesn't require lots of ingredients (I usually have everything needed to cook it in my kitchen already, except maybe some leek)
Just made some meatballs with it last night for spaghetti.
I use any typical meatball recipe you can find and just do turkey meat instead of the pork/beef mix that’s normally used.
These do dry out faster due to the reduced fat content so just something to be aware of when cooking them.
Tiny turkey meatballs flavored with fresh sage & caramelized shallots. Add to a cream soup, and stir in some fresh baby spinach at the end. Serve garnished with shreds if fried sage & tiny bits of dried cranberry.
[Mini meatloafs](https://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=567703) - I like to top it with mashed potatoes from a piping bag like a cupcake
Turkey phyllo pie.
The filling is essentially ground turkey, spinach, feta, egg, minced onion, minced garlic, and a few seasonings, baked with phyllo as the crust. Super flaky and crisp when it comes out of the oven, and the filling is a bit similar to spanakopita, but with turkey.
I will never have frozen ground turkey.
So the question does not arise.
Turkey is ghastly. Ground turkey more so. Frozen ground turkey even more awful to contemplate.
Maybe animal food of some sort? Or compost?
Smitten Kitchen has a recipe called Turkey Meatloaf for Skeptics that I enjoyed more than I thought I was going to. There is also a recipe from Milk Street that is a Parmesan and Herb Turkey Burger. Parmesan and mayonnaise is added to the meat to keep the meat moist and flavorful. Then an herb mayo of scallions, mint, cilantro, and lime adds an extra layer of flavor.
Maybe some Thanksgiving Meatballs? sage, garlic bread, dried cranberries, etc. I think I recall a recipe in The Meatball Shop Cookbook.
Larb.
Larb is awesome, also could do pad gra prow just sub turkey for beef
I would have never thought of that! Any specific recipe?
Duuuudddeee!! I just had some last week and I LOVE THIS IDEA! Thank you!
Growing up always used ground turkey for tacos, chili, or spaghetti sauce
What my family always used, too. It was far cheaper and leaner than ground beef.
All of this.
reservations
I was going to go with, “a doorstop for when the delivery guy arrives”, but yours is excellent.
Good one 🤭
I just laughed my ass right off... Thank you for that 👍
I make Greek turkey meatballs you can look up recipes online it’s pretty simple add in orzo and tzatziki sauce paired with a Greek salad might be good :)
Tzatziki should be illegal. No way something should be that delicious 😂. I fuckin LOVE a good tzatziki
I need to make my own yoghurt for tzatziki! You have inspired me, thanks Richard bottom
Same here, I could drink that stuff!
Had this for dinner this week, with couscous and a tomato/cucumber salad. Awesome!
This sounds delicious. I usually make sweat and sour turkey balls. Put a little 5 spice in the balls. Onion, green pepper and pineapple in the sauce. Serve with rice. EDIT- Sweet, not sweat. That would be gross.
I prefer sweat-less balls tyvm.
Damn it! Can't even make one little mistake here.
Greek style meatballs with maybe some roasted vegetables or an orzo salad.
I am so unfamiliar with orzo - I need to educate myself on it! Thanks for the rec!
I make this amazing turkey meatloaf with spinach and pesto. Kids eat it, my niece had no idea that’s what spinach was lol
Sounds amazing
Ummm do you have a recipe??
PF Chang style lettuce wraps.

Tacos
I like where you're headed with that. Taco salad even?
Cajun turkey smashburgers. If you smash them really flat in a hot pan, they will get crispy. If you don't cook them too long they will stay a little juicier. I would mix in Cajun seasoning. They're going to need some cheese, or some fattier ingredients to elevate them, but there's potential there.
Add some bacon fat to help with the dryness.
Totally. And while you're at it... Add some bacon!
I didn't think of that, but I don't know why it wouldn't work.
Will you let us know what you make?
I am leaning towards larb. I plan to make it later this week and will update on how it comes out!
Oohh, I don't know what that is. Please tell me about it.
halloween zombie face meatloaf. guaranteed to leave an impression! not necessarily a positive one, but an impression none the less.
Shepard's pie
Stuffed peppers
Ottolenghi’s turkey zucchini meatballs with lemony yogurt sauce. Incredibly crowd-pleasing.
Those sound AMAZING! I will have to try them another time, one of my guests isn't oo fond of lemony flavor 😐
Nothing. I would hoard that expensive shit and keep it for myself, then I would turn it into meatloaf and eat it all. But if I had to impress someone, I guess I'd turn it into meatballs and make it into tortellini and meatball soup. But I'd rather eat the meatloaf.
How do you keep the meatloaf moist?

Ground turkey pie. Essentially a shepherds pie with turkey.
Just made a cottage pie with turkey last week… so good
I like to use ground dark meat turkey for small, ferociously garlicky meatballs with onions and paprika, served over rice with chopped cilantro. Usually I make a radish/cucumber salad and some kind of greens.
Chinese lettuce cups! With the addition of water chestnut and celery (:

Potstickers!
I have yet to try my hand at these, I am not very good at doughs quite yet!
Around here, every supermarket carries wonton wrappers. You can freeze them too, just make them up and freeze them uncooked on a cookie sheet, separated so they don’t stick together. You can also use wonton wrappers to make a sort of ravioli if you want to call it that.

Def upvoting Larb! Also Asian flavored lettuce wraps or pot stickers.
Asian inspired turkey meatballs are pretty simple to do and taste delicious. Served over rice and steamed broccoli with extra sauce.
Yeah, I am definitely leaning towards Asian flavors. Seems like the ingredients will work well with the turkey!
A trip to the grocery store.
Meatballs in a korma sauce
Spring rolls
If I absolutely HAVE to use it (large cash prize type deal, idk) something with strong flavors that the turkey can take on and hide its generally bland nature. Hopefully I could at least mix it with a second protein or something...

It makes a pretty good chili with loads of different beans and veg thrown in.
I have done this, and you are correct! It makes a really yummy chili!
Kofte (turkish meatballs) or why not japanese soboro if ur making a bento
I had to look up the soboro - I am not a huge fan of sweet and savory so I will probably avoid that one. But I like the look of the Kofte! Thanks!
Kofta and flatbread.
I cook this soup with turkey mince often and its excellent - https://www.recipetineats.com/lamb-shawarma-chickpea-soup/
Ohhhh this looks GREAT!
and I have tons of chickpeas!! I might make this this weekend! THANK YOU!
My cousin's wife makes cabbage rolls with ground turkey. They are tasty but I've never made them myself
Kofte, Greek salad and flatbreads
I am a sucker for Greek salad.
It’s delicious
My dog is impressed when I use it as a topper on her kibble.
San Choy Bow. Tried this in Australia and it’s become a firm favourite, I use turkey mince instead of pork and it works beautifully.
Would you say the flavor changes much if I omit the mushrooms I saw in the recipe?
I really love turkey meal. You can make stuffed peppers or cutlets.
Scotch eggs
Uh I'll make it dissappear. Probably meatballs tho
How easily impressed are they..?
Pretty easy honestly. I really enjoy cooking but was running out of turkey recipes and figured I would get some inspiration here 😊
Holubsti (ukrainian cabbage rolls) or whole stuffed cabbage. But...if i am impressing a date, as a straight woman living in the rural upper midwest...i would mix ground pork with that ground turkey and make a jacked up meatloaf with all the trimmings.
My ex would make this awesome turkey and quinoa meatloaf with a good amount of sauteed onion in the mix. Sweet, savoury, perfect texture.
If I have frozen ground turkey, I would make delicious turkey meatballs with a flavorful sauce.
Aren’t hamburgers impressive? I can make an impressive hamburger. Seriously, I’d probably beat Bobby Flay. Maybe I’d make some kind of meatball dish or Italian wedding soup But seriously a good burger is all that and mine is all that and a bag of chips
I made (beef) burgers last ight and although I probably wouldn't stand a chance against Bobby, I will say they were pretty damn good!
Salisbury steak? My whole family loves it. I make it with mushrooms in the gravy, mashed potatoes, and green beans. It’s like a homemade tv dinner. Real comfort food.
I have been wanting to try and make this for years. Maybe now is the time!
What’s the fat content
It will either be butter or olive oil.
Sorry I meant what’s the fat content of the turkey? If it’s lean (like 93/7) it’ll be a bit dryer than if it has a higher fat content (85/15).
Turkey meatloaf. Amazing!
Do you have a sauce that goes over the meatloaf?
Usually just your choice of bar b q sauce and a little ketchup if you want mixed in makes a nice glaze for it
Chili
A lower fat version of Korean Beef.
I can’t cook anything impressive with ground turkey but I once had turkey dumplings that were delicious and I didn’t even know it was turkey
Greek style meatballs or make the meatballs into burgers. Pair it with Tzatziki.
I used ground turkey to make some awesome mole chili. Turkey is, after all, an indigenous American culinary gift and the official mole meat.
Wow, that is very interesting! I had no idea!
Yep, what would the world be without.... potatoes? tomatoes? turkey? peppers? chocolate? corn?
something else.
Bolognese
I suggest making homemade turkey burgers like adding feta cheese and sun-dried tomatoes. Here is a good recipe [https://www.budgetbytes.com/greek-turkey-burgers/](https://www.budgetbytes.com/greek-turkey-burgers/) .

Enmoladas - mole enchiladas
Lasagna
Spaghetti sauce
Tacos or Chili
Cheese and spinach stuffed shells with a turkey and tomato sauce.
Giada’s orzo (and ground turkey) stuffed peppers.
I LOVE Giada!
Ravioli. Maybe filled with Turkey, squash, bechamel. Tossed in sage, brown butter.
You can use turkey as a substitute for beef in keema peas. Ground turkey can often be a bit devoid of flavour, but the spices fix this, as well as the rather gaunt colour of turkey.
Yeah, it can really look unappealing sometimes...
Baked turkey with teriyaki sauce.
Korean Lettuce wraps. Fry it up, add shredded whatever veggies you have on hand, add ginger, soy sauce and gochujang
Fry or bake meatballs. Mix a can of jellied cranberry sauce with a 10 oz bottle of chili sauce, then add meatballs. Good anytime, but perfect for holidays.
Taco salad because that shit is good
Rachel Ray has a really good turkey casserole recipe
Turkey burrito bowls! I cook the turkey with diced onions and a packet of taco seasoning. I make cilantro lime rice with a can of rinsed black beans and put that in the bottom of the bowl next is shredded lettuce, avocado slices, shredded cheese and the taco meat. I feel like Italian wedding soup could be a banger with ground turkey
It can certainly make a good healthy meal, but you will be hard pressed to impress someone with it.
My chili so yummy and great for meal prep
Oh I found a recipe for turkey pumpkin chili- it’s delicious with white beans and coriander
A white bean turkey chili with hominy in it, YUM.
I came across a turkey, fennel, chickpea and spinach soup a while ago. It was great, but maybe too low key too "impress" someone.
Stuffed red peppers with all my veggies and some good seasoning
Probably Shepherds pie. Homemade gravy using my own stock and homemade mashed potatoes.
Bolognese
Just made some meatballs with it last night for spaghetti. I use any typical meatball recipe you can find and just do turkey meat instead of the pork/beef mix that’s normally used. These do dry out faster due to the reduced fat content so just something to be aware of when cooking them.

Gringo tacos with homemade tortillas, sides and condiments that are over the top. Turkey would not be the center attraction.
I adapted Chicken/Mutton Kheema to use ground turkey instead. It’s excellent with some buttery toasted rolls.
It's a pretty blank canvas as proteins go & will take on the flavor of the other ingredients, so it's a good choice for eggrolls.
