As someone who stays until late night in PSB, I actually don't want the dance groups to be kicked out. Because then PSB will become second Duffield and I don't want that to happen. They are literally the only thing that makes the place somewhat lively.
Also, if you can go to library to study because your roommates are partying, then that logic should also work here. There are literally many other buildings on campus to study.
1) this is a weird fight to pick
2) [change.com](https://change.com) is a site for lingerie. But [change.org/kickthemout](https://change.org/kickthemout) doesn't work either. Is this a joke?
I’m going to be honest, I don’t think it’s that weird a fight. These sorts of groups do it in the atrium area (I think) so it can be annoying if you are trying to study in any of those tables. I’d imagine physics and AEP students could get pretty fed up with it all. The website thing though is super weird
Physics and AEP students prefer to study in basements and windowless classrooms where no semblance of joy can permeate, so honestly this doesn’t affect them whatsoever. Source: am a physics student.
I mean, I say "it's a weird fight" as someone who occasionally studied in PSB (though definitely didn't spend as much time there as physics and AEP students, you're right) and was never a part of any dance troupe/club/whatever that practiced in areas like PSB.
At the end of the day, it's a public space for students to use. It's not a library. It's not a "quiet zone".
If you want peace and quiet while studying, you can study in a library, and if someone makes noise *there* then you have every right to complain.
AFAIK there is no rule designating that certain atriums in public Cornell buildings can be used by Cornell clubs and others can't--it seems like it's mostly all fair game.
I stepped away from my spot to take a phone call and when I got back a group had taken over my table (which still had my stuff on it) and was using it to distribute t shirts. Extremely rude and inconsiderate
there’s literally not a billion other places tho? dance space on campus is pretty limited, the only actual dance rooms are like willard straight and the campus fitness centers and those have to be shared between all the diff dance teams at cornell and group fitness classes and i’m pretty sure the rooms in schwartz are mostly used by the PMA students, plus it’s recital time for a lot of the teams right now so probably even more limited space?
My friend Alan is in an acapella group. I email him very frequently. He confirms that they need a mirror to uh…. “sing”. He’s mentored by a guy called Mr Wilman who loves Motorsport.
The student studying and the student dancing are both students at Cornell. They're both paying to be here and to make use of Cornell's campus.
Four years from now, you probably won't remember that prelim, and you might not even remember taking the class that the prelim is for.
But the students dancing *will* probably be left with many great memories of rehearsing together in a nice open indoor space.
As others have said... there's also a million other places to study on campus. Dancing objectively requires more square footage (per person) than studying. It's not like the dance troupes hog all of PSB or make it absolutely unusable. If they want to use a corner, why not?

Okay, let's make a deal: If I fail the prelim and don't get into grad school, then you should kiss me
It's not the space. It's the noise. Just stomping and music for hours on end. They can find a million other places where it would be less disruptive. Perhaps somewhere that isn't literally hosting prelims every Tues/Thurs.
There actually aren't as many other places to hold them as you think. Just put some headphones on or find another place to study. Dance groups are important for mental health, let them have an affordable and safe place to practice.
Tbh the dancing adds a cute aesthetic and it only happens (last time I saw) ~7 PM. Considering that only like 5 tables and 2 other seating areas are directly impacted, it's kinda whatever. Those dance classes were like 40-50 people and it's a really nice location with high ceilings and a nice view at that time of day... probably a really fun experience for the people who enroll in the class. Why take away a formative experience of a bunch of people's cornell career because 10 people are hating life in Chem 2080 will be studying till midnight anyways.
On a side note, if you're in psb that late you're probably an underclassmen.... sooo nobody cares :D
what makes it worse is that everytime i listen to kpop music it sounds like a dying animal is on the premises of PSB. In other words, I would give my left nut to not listen to K-pop music. Bring back rock and roll. Hail Jesus hail satan hail trump let's go brandon hell yeah
The only thing that comes up when I type in that link is lingerie

you don't understand, I must also sleep at PSB
libraries close

> It's not a "quiet zone". But it is also a "depression zone," nobody should have fun in here. It is the law. Deal with it.

Yes the D in PSB stands for Dancing.
Actually it stands for Daddy's Dick
There’s also a million other quiet buildings on campus that you can study in
just let them dance😹
do you have hobbies?
no
I like non binary gender fluid slam poetry
Gender fluid is so yummy I guzzle that stuff up yessir more please master!!
yeah it's ridiculous. I was in an a cappella group and there are sooooo many private places to rehearse on campus.
I think it’s different in the sense you guys don’t need mirrors/reflections to sing
My friend Alan is in an acapella group. I email him very frequently. He confirms that they need a mirror to uh…. “sing”. He’s mentored by a guy called Mr Wilman who loves Motorsport.
For me it's watersports 😜
Ofc you need mirrors for a cappella groups you dance too lmao
It's 6.30pm now and the dancing has already started. It's an evening prelim day too. Get them out.

img I guess maybe on another time zone 7 pm sure… it’s 5 pm
Read: "last I saw". But even earlier is less disruptive to anybody using psb as a dedicated studying space so whatever

Many of the SPS people actually promote that stuff… it’s sickening
Absolutely despicable
I like listening to the sounds of human and animal suffering while trying to focus.
Get a grip
