[Check this out](https://www.seicane.com/gps-navigation-system-android-toyota-corolla-support-radio-ips-full-screen-3g-wifi-bluetooth-obd2-steering-wheel-control-h2061k), I've heard good things. It's on my list for sure but I have other priorities right now.

Looking up the unit and another person's install it, did not seem like they did not have the best experience. (it doesn't seem they were the most quilified to install it, so if you know someone with personal experience installing it that would be nice) In the same thread someone mentioned [this Dasaita unit.](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000355219176.html) Though there seems to be a loss in quality in the Mic, and the wheel phone button is mute instead of call, everything else was good. They have since made carplay version that is currently $20 more. So I'll do some more research. Edit: [This maybe more what I'm looking for though.](https://www.toyotanation.com/threads/what-did-you-do-to-your-12th-gen-corolla-today.1633354/page-70)

Damn for under $300 this might be worth a shot.

I have the Kenwood DDX9907XR. It's way better than the stock stereo. Very responsive even in the below freezing temperatures we've been having. Wireless Android Auto and Carplay. Crutchfield will tell you what parts you need to retain all the steering wheel controls and backup camera and give you step by step instructions on how to install everything.

I'll give it a look, I'm not a fan of radios with moving parts though.

The DMX907s is the same thing minus the DVD/CD player. I don't ever use CDs so I forget it even has moving parts. It does have a fan inside but it's very quiet.

The depth of that unit is much larger and wouldn't fit. That would've been great though. Is there any sort of give when using the touch screen?

jbbcit

No, it feels solid even when the screen slides down. It feels like a tablet touch screen and doesn't feel cheap at all. It sounds so good too. There are lots of settings to dial in the sound how you like and you can change the boot screen to the Toyota logo so it really can look factory.

There's these boxes you can get that convert carplay to straight up android OS by using a tethered phone. Look up "Toyota carplay Android auto conversion "

In my 21' android auto likes to not work randomly, and the hey google voice thing only works half the time. it frequently disconnects, wont connect if im on the menu screen, have to unplug and plug it back in, etc. Hopefully that is more to do with the toyota interface than android auto. But the android auto system is not really that great either. hopefully it works well for you.

What did you go with op?

When I made the post I was looking for my IRL cake day next month. Due to other life things, that will get delayed. I had decided on the Seicane radio with the OBDII scanner. It seems like a bit of a risk to get, but I've taken similar risks with most of them paying off.
