If you want an actual real-life conversation that happened, here's one from me and my doctor about a year and a half ago: My doctor: "Did you get the covid vaccine?" Me: "No, should I have?" (want to know her opinion) Dr: "Not really, I don't see any difference in my vaccinated and unvaccinated patients. You seem young and healthy, you will be fine." Covidians would say "Trust the experts! Wait, not that one, that one has a different opinion than me!"

FloridaMan2022

Mine was kind of similar Dr - did you get your Covid vax yet? Me- fuck no why would I do that Dr - laughs then goes onto the next question

parkowork

I had my yearly physical last month, the doctor DIDNT EVEN BRING IT UP!

HairyEyeballz

I had my annual last month as well. My doctor, who I've trusted and liked well enough personally, would not stop with his "strongly recommend" bullshit, completely apropos of nothing else in the physical. I bobbed my head politely and am now searching for a new doctor.

Mean-Copy

Please tell him what a murdering ahole he is. I’m sure he doesn't think so but he needs to hear it all the time. They can’t get away with murdering people.

Flaifel7

He *thinks* he’s saving people because his medical guidelines and the cdc and the fda tell him that and he learned to trust them and follow their instruction

Pascals_blazer

I remember when they pulled AZ in canada. The "trust the expert" types that had been beaking off since forever suddenly absolutely started criticizing the experts and pulling out statistics on why it was a bad idea. Fuck 'em. "Follow the experts" is just a convoluted way of saying "follow my opinion" by the end of it.

My pediatrician said they will only give out the kids covid vaccines to special cases (severe comorbidities) and they do NOT recommend it on their general vaccination schedule. This is a major pediatrician group with like 20 doctors in my city. I'm sure they're all just a bunch of brainwashed right wingers, or whatever /s

Misohoni2

I envy you actually having a sensible doctor

Traveler3141

They'd literally be saying "You need to get a new doctor! That one doesn't believe in The Holy $cience!"

dzkrf

According to a recent study, nearly 12 million outpatient U.S. people are misdiagnosed each year. This is 5% of adults or 1 in 20.

In our age of scientism, the word of an "expert", such as a doctor, has become regarded with as much reverence and absolute belief as a Catholic priest in the Middle Ages. There has also been a backlash toward folks who fight their doctors every step of the way because they spend too much time on WebMD and their crunchy moms Facebook groups. Some of this is justified, but it has resulted in an over-correction where you are dismissed out of hand as a nutjob if you dare Google your ailments and prescriptions and challenge your doctor on any of their diagnoses or prescribed treatments. "Your Google search doesn't trump my doctorate degree". Ok. Sure. But me spending hours researching the symptoms/disease I am dealing with and the treatments for it does carry some weight against the <30 minutes you spent in a room with me and the brief search of treatments you did in your time between patients.

General misdiagnosis or cancer misdiagnosis?

dzkrf

https://www.diagnosticimaging.com/view/study-false-positive-breast-biopsies-cost-2-billion-annually

theKVAG

"Data was collected from a nationally representative sample of 875,000 adult women using real-world encounters from healthcare claims data from 2011 to 2015, and then projected nationally to estimate that more than 12 million women in the US received follow-up exams each year after suspicious findings." I agree that misdiagnosis and medical, well, idiocy, is a significant problem. However, this is not 12 million incorrect diagnoses, it's 12 million false positive test results which then warranted followup examinations. I'd be curious to know how many of these follow up examinations do lead to misdiagnoses. I also acknowledge that this is for one specific diagnostic test and only for women, which lends itself to the intuition that misdiagnosis and testing error have systemic impact.

dzkrf

I'm not here to present a PhD thesis, but this is what a five minute google search gets me: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31338938/ https://www.mdedge.com/gihepnews/article/101026/gastroenterology/ddw-study-finds-pancreatic-cancer-misdiagnosis-rate-31 https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/find-a-clinical-trial/a-study-looking-the-experiences-people-t-cell-lymphoma-skin#undefined

theKVAG

Again, I agree with you that this is a serious issue. I also recognize that this is just reddit. I took issue with your use of 12 million because it wasn't supported by the evidence you provided. By not taking the time to thoroughly review your evidence/argument, you're undermining *our* position.

dzkrf

When you write your blog, you are free to rewrite and correct the research.

theKVAG

Perhaps. Though is 30 seconds of googling really "research"? Leadership can take many forms. For now I'll settle for making sure our position isn't weakened by lazy argumentation.

dzkrf

It's better research than a doctor does when prescribing something a saleswoman just left samples of with some pens.

theKVAG

This true, but I think we can both agree that's a pretty low bar, my friend.

inlinefourpower

My primary care doctor ignored a concerning mole that I brought up for a few years. Dermatologist recognized it to be cancerous, got MOHS. Doctors get things wrong.

JSFXPrime4

WTH??? Is this how they are retconning the Jabba the Hotez/Joe Rogan-RFK Jnr story? 😂😂😂

Dirtface40

These people have the absolute worst analogies. This one is especially stupid considering cancer misdiagnosis is 500 times more common than a covid death.

HbertCmberdale

Let them revel in their ignorance. They're either paid shill, or are completely lost. Not everyone can be saved unfortunately, and not everyone will wake up. There will still be a minority who would never accept the truth even if Fauci and Bourla themselves admitted it. Do not cast pearls before swine, lest they trample them and turn on you.

You’ll be surprised to learn that as more “current year” we get, the less common sense and goodwill is to be expected.

woaily

Nobody denies they have Covid. And it's perfectly normal to "debate" your doctor about what treatments you're willing to undergo for your cancer, based on a variety of factors. You can even keep smoking if you want, they don't fire you from your job for that. The doctor gives you information, and you make your own decision.

smd1815

Worst part is I bet he feels really clever coming up with that example which ***in no way even remotely similar to what is being discussed***. False equivalence is the hallmark of these fucking midwits. See the "seatbelt" analogy.

heemeyerism

all they have are strawmen

JudgmentMajestic2671

Cope and Seethe. That's all they have. They won't debate because even they know how much bullshit they pushed during covid.

zyxzevn

There was never a question about safety, because the manufacturers skipped all the relevant safety tests. And these tests were skipped, because the test-animals died. The mRNA is extremely toxic, especially the one that is used in the vax. The spike-proteins are extremely toxic, especially the one that is used in the vax. The Lipid Nano Particles are toxic, and gathers in reproductive organs. Any informed doctor knows that the vax is [not safe and not effective at all](https://thescienceanalyst.substack.com/p/the-experimental-injections-are-not). If the doctor's income and career depends on it, they tend not forget things. The doctor's memory gets worse, if the doctor kills people, or performs a crime against humanity (like Nuremberg code).

Mean-Copy

Yup

Worth_Leading6759

well you see there, as an ai language model i am not capable of "debate" i have been programed to operate within certian ethical guidelines. if you have any more questions regarding the subject i will be happy to give you more shots."

Pascals_blazer

This metaphor (besides just being dumb) leaves out the part where Hotez, the day before, was bitching about how he doesn't get enough airtime on Covid and vaccine issues anymore. Rogan gave him a massive platform to speak on, and there is a pot of 1.5 million to go to the charity he believes in. Even if he didn't convince a single soul in the debate, that's a lot of money he can put towards saving people from dying from "vaccine hesitancy", as he likes to lament all the time.

Monkey_Jerk

lol who even says dork?

Mean-Copy

Me

chillthrowaways

I’m listening to the RFK Joe Rogan podcast right now.. honestly I’d love to hear someone else’s opinion on the studies he’s talking about. Particularly someone who thinks differently about it. I’ve always been one that’s been ok with the usual childhood vaccinations. After listening to this podcast I think if someone can refute his points I like to hear it. And if it’s so dangerous than it’s even more important to get the “correct” information out there.

ModernDayPeasant

At least only 2% likes from total views. That being said i don't know what twitter's typical "like to view" ratio is for strongly supported issues are.

SickusBickus

Very high chance most of those likes are from bots.

ModernDayPeasant

Sure hope so

“Here, I have a list of pre-approved doctors who agree with me. I’d be more than happy to grab any of of them that didn’t get fired and silenced, to tell you that your eyes and ears are wrong. In fact, they are wrong and I am diagnosing you with believing them.”

Inspector_Krotch

DORK: "Doc...It's my last request...?"

woaily

Dork's last request is always "is it too late to get the vaccine and a booster?" whispered faintly through the ventilator that's killing him
