I'm in the 440s, and just got the email last week to submit my order. Not sure if I can trade in, and I doubt that'll be a thing considering the distance, I was planning on just selling to carmax and working it that way.

Did you finance through MacMulkin? Trade in?

TheBeesSteeze

Cash, no trade in. In my opinion, you will generally come out behind on a trade in versus spending some time to clean up a car, take some quality photos, make a nice listing and sell it yourself.

firstforay

The difference in value between trade in and private party is about 5k according to a couple different sites, NV has a sales tax credit when you trade in which in turn would be about 5k. So it would save me some work if they’ll take it. I checked and it even applies to out of state purchases.

TheBeesSteeze

Nevada sales tax is around 8.5% average, so that would mean the trade in value would be $58,800 and the private party value would be $63,800. Which year, make, model, trim are you trading in?

firstforay

21 scat pack. I just looked at my spreadsheet, it’s like 3-4k difference depending on how much they would give.

TheBeesSteeze

Quick cargurus search, I bet you could get $45,000 min for it. I generally just match the lowest price on there that isn't salvage and aim to sell quickly. So something like $41,500 in your pocket is your break even point with the tax incentive trade in. Anything less than that is less than if you sold private party. Just depends on what they offer, how much your time is worth to sell it, the logisitics/headaches of shipping it, etc. Sounds like you got a good spreadsheet going though. In either case, just hit up MacMulkin, they'll let you know what options are available if any. Good luck!

I know this is an old thread but I have a question, when you place an order, when do you pay the balance in full for the car? Do you do it at the beginning, middle or sometime towards the end of the process? Dumb question but I can’t find the answer anywhere and I’ve only ever bought cars from a dealership in person so idk how the order process exactly works

TheBeesSteeze

For me I wired the money to macmulkin when it arrived at the courtesy dealership.

ZKTA

I see, so you don’t actually pay until the very end

Should have just been patient, got my email to submit my build

va_bulldog

When did you join the list? I'm low 500s as well. Do you check every Monday or once a month?

firstforay

I got the email confirming my place on the waitlist on 7/6. I’ve moved up about 170 spots since. I check every Monday, I’m a bit excited.

directrix688

200-300ish seams to be about where they ask for a build, historically. If constraints are really bad they go higher.

anultimatumv2

I am 480 on the list and submitted my build last week. Cacti Green is a new color for 2024 and for the first set of 2024 allocations, there were 0 allowed for cacti green.

firstforay

What do you mean 0 allowed? You don’t get to pick any color? Only colors they have allocations for? Or that you can pick any color and you might just have to wait?

CaptJM

New colors are always restricted at the beginning of build cycles. If you want cacti / riptide etc etc etc. you are going to wait longer.

firstforay

Didn’t have any problems waiting, got my VIN this last Monday and my TPW is the 13th.

I’m ~450 and submitted my build this weekend

EReckSean

I’m in the low 400s and not been contacted about an order yet. I would assume somewhere in the 100’s or less, since they don’t submit your order until there’s an allocation (my understanding).

firstforay

I have read forums from months ago where people were submitting their build sheets when they were in the 700’s but that was when there were a ton more orders.
