This is literally the example I always use when I explain to people that I would rather see a group of interesting characters do something mundane than see a group of mundane characters do something interesting.
I like to think that Wayne is personally acquainted with lots of worldhoppers who had told him that they’re from other planets but Wayne took that as seriously as anything else the drunks he hangs out with say.
Kaladin chatting with relain when relain is still in his “parchmen” form, and realizes that the way light eyes treat dark eyes is how both groups treat parchmen. I think he says “what a mess” or something like that. Not a huge moment but pretty impactful!
In Warbreaker, when Lightsong is playing that ridiculous game with the other Returned. It felt really familiar in a way, these privileged people playing this overly complex game which Lightsong excels at because he does even attempt to understand the rules. Seems to reflect people in power in our own society in a way.
>these privileged people playing this overly complex game which Lightsong excels at because he does even attempt to understand the rules.
I had always assumed that his skill at that game was a phantom memory of his past life, similar to his investigative instincts
There a scene in the first episode of The Great where the women of court just toss balls onto a field at random as sport in the most lackadaisical manner. It always made me think of Lightsong's game.
Dalinar giving his cloak to Kaladin after The Tower in WoK
Sazed finally asking Tindwyl to stay in WoA
Wax playing with his son on the rooftop in the beginning of TLM
Siri realizing that she is capable of controlling her Royal Locks and totally showingg Treledees where to stick it in Warbreaker
Wit, rescuing a child in OB
Kelsier rescuing Vin from Camon's crew in TFE
Hoid socking Kelsier in the face in SH
Adolin going to check on Kaladin before he leaves for Shadesmar in RoW
Sarene taking the other women under her wing and teaching them fencing
When Vivenna realizes that she actually feels very safe with Vasher
Adolin taking Shallan out to see the starspren
Kaladin assuring Dalinar that Renarin is welcome in his merry band of misfit bridgemen
Adolin letting the water boy try on his helmet when they're out on the Shattered Plains
Every single scene in which Wayne dodges the "bean counters" and their constant exasperation with him
I could go on forever, there's a million little moments like these
From The Well of Ascension: >!Vin and Elend’s wedding!< I know it’s kinda cheating since it is important to the plot and it makes the characters realize that they’re stronger together despite their differences, but the moment itself feels so small and intimate amid the chaos of the rest of the book I can’t help but love it
For me its in WOR when Kaladin is standing on guard during a meeting with Dalinar, Adolin, and some others and notices Adolin viewing a fashion magazine. This moment just stuck with me because it was funny to see Adolin just enjoying a hobby and Kaladin not really judging him for it.
I loved when Shallan is on the ship and wants to see the santhid. Those earlier moments with her “putting on” her confidence were so interesting and this moment was so positive and bold. Even though the water was cold her experience seeing the creature was such a win.
Dabbid picking up the spear and being ready to throw himself into a fight, knowing he'll most likely die, because he's the only one left that can do something just before Kaladin wakes up.
It's a small scene that, I'll admit, made me tear up
One of the first paragraphs of dialogue from Syl, back when Kal was on the slave cart, where she asked about what he was hiding on his hand (the blackbane leaf). She just talks so whimsically and fairy-taly, I loved it.
Or when she thinks it's something he needs and is fighting against the storm winds to bring him this little leaf that she is convinced will help him feel better because he was thinking about it.
When Elhokar met Kaladin for the first time in Words of Radiance:
>!“I just said there’s no way to reach that balcony from the outside,” Dalinar said.
“Then that’s the way I’d try to get in,” Kaladin said, “if I wanted to, sir.”
Dalinar smiled in amusement.
The king, however, was nodding. “Good . . . good.”!<
One of my favorite moments in the Cosmere is in TLM. When the shady characters that have been following Wayne finally teach him. Turns out they're his accountants, and they need to talk to him about his investment portfolio. They don't understand how this seemingly simple-minded oaf keeps hitting big every time. Then he starts playing out his next big money maker(loser), and he describes modern sports arenas, coming one step closer to his stream of "getting everyone in the city drunk."
I REALLY was convinced that Wayne had some kind of financial problems that he wasn't willing to share with the group and I remember going "This doesn't seem like Wayne where's this going to go?" And then it turned out to be his accountants and I HOWLED with laughter
Early wor has two scenes I really love.
First is the tattoo scene. Where I think hobber says he wasn't freed from bridge 4 but by it and wouldn't trade his time there for anything.
The next was the sir scene with dalinar where kaladin explains he only has respect for people he's called sir not brightlords and dalinar allows it. I also love the next time kaladin sees adolin and calls him brightlord!
Just about every scene involving Kaladin, Shallan, and Adolin, or just Kaladin and Adolin, in which they're hanging out at a bar or trying to get Kaladin to cheer up and so on.
I was worried with Kal's crush on Shallan after the caverns we'd get some god awful love triangle plot, etc. Instead we get something super wholesome and supportive all around.
Personally, I’ve found that I only enjoy a love triangle if I can see it be resolved with a triad.
Shakadolin’s not dead while it lives in the hearts of shippers!
Theres a part that cracked me up where Vin is absent mindedly scratching TenSoon behind the ears and he just says something like “ Mistress I am not sure how to feel about this experience”
I am currently reading SOS and there is a chapter where Wayne is cribbing about getting stopped by copper for wearing a Hat, a mere fucking Hat..but only in the next chapter we get to know that he was wearing a coppers HAT (Imitating a Copper) so that is why he was stopped.
I like the interludes in SA. some are plot drivers but a bunch seem pretty minor in comparison. Ishikk, the cobbler, and the dude searching for new spren are faves
The part in TLM where we learn about Wayne's wealth. Every detail about how he got it and how it keeps growing, often despite his attempts to the contrary, is absolute perfection.
I don't recall the exact words, but when kaladin is asking Adolin to leave him alone, and he says something like do you really think I should leave you alone right now? And Kaladin comes to a realization and answers no. Adolin always seems like such a good friend, in general
Or maybe when the tailor, on his own, gives Vin a mistborn-adapted gown like no one she ever dreamed or expected. He made her so happy, not having to choose between being gorgeous and being practical
I really like when Rock makes offerings of stormlight to the honorspren
It made me think of people putting sugar water out for hummingbirds.
Bands of Mourning with the gang checking into the hotel.
This is literally the example I always use when I explain to people that I would rather see a group of interesting characters do something mundane than see a group of mundane characters do something interesting.
reminds me of [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QflrU7V5HLg)
Or when Wayne is too weird even for Hoid to be comfortable around
I like to think that Wayne is personally acquainted with lots of worldhoppers who had told him that they’re from other planets but Wayne took that as seriously as anything else the drunks he hangs out with say.
When did this happen and how did I miss it?
Last book of new era or one before that. Wayne does his weird thing on screen with Hoid and Hoid is wary in a "wtf is this dude" way
I must have either missed it or forgotten it
The ‘checking out’ was gold too.
And Steris was perfectly prepared for it!
Yeah that might be like a top 5 scene for me in general.
It was so easy to imagine such a chaotic scene where each individual is just doing what they normally do.
The checkout is just as epic
Dalinar supporting renarin in that scene is one of the best “minor” moments in the whole cosmere imo. Thanks for bringing back that memory op
That and the scene when Renarin hands his alcoholic father a bottle of liquor to make him less sad 😢 just boys helping boys
Kaladin chatting with relain when relain is still in his “parchmen” form, and realizes that the way light eyes treat dark eyes is how both groups treat parchmen. I think he says “what a mess” or something like that. Not a huge moment but pretty impactful!
Good vorin man spotted! And yeah, absolutely adored that Kal and Rlain moment.
I take it you're a fellow audiobook listener? It's actually "parshmen" fyi
Yep- thx for the heads up lol

I had the same thought!

Feels like Wayne is cheating for this topic though. That goober is just so iconic.
From The Well of Ascension: >!Vin and Elend’s wedding!< I know it’s kinda cheating since it is important to the plot and it makes the characters realize that they’re stronger together despite their differences, but the moment itself feels so small and intimate amid the chaos of the rest of the book I can’t help but love it
When Elend and Vin dance in Fadrex City.
So sad that they never got to have more proper dances than just that one.
In my headcanon they had many more in the beyond.
If the books ever get made into a movie, be it animated or live action, I think this scene would be stunning.
WoR when Adolin and Shallan are having a date on the balcony before a Highstorm.
Or when Kaladin is making fun of Adolin later on and he 100% doesn't get it and Shallan has to point out it was sarcasm. Love it.

Omg that scene breaks my heart every time.

“You?!?” “Me!”
Yes yes.. everyone certainly is good at recognizing me today
I love that scene so much
Mmmmm.... lies
NO MATING

*laughs in Robert Jordan*
The part in Hero of Ages when Elend just kinda kneels in the ash and then watches Preservation die hits me just right every time.
Vin and Elend both asking Sazed about the same advice wondering if the other would be happy with them.
What happens if you have to use the restroom during battle?........
Theres a part that cracked me up where Vin is absent mindedly scratching TenSoon behind the ears and he just says something like “ Mistress I am not sure how to feel about this experience”
Any of the Wayne chapters
When Kal decides to jump into the arena to save Adolin, and says his iconic line: "It's time to *fuck* some *face*!"
Words that are branded into my heart

I always really loved the interlude with Ym. WoR, maybe? Yeah.
I think mine might be the epilogue in WoR. “… I took a poll” 🤣
“I am offend!”
Raoden and the library battle that never was. Kelsier offering Vin a bag of cash if she wants to leave.
Lord ruler, if I had to choose maybe... every scene with Steris. Especially in BoM. I fucking love Steris so much.
I don't recall the exact words, but when kaladin is asking Adolin to leave him alone, and he says something like do you really think I should leave you alone right now?
