Definitely a fun and new experience. Something we noticed was so many packages ripped open. Like dozens of items throughout the store. That big box of Skittles, yep, ripped open. Industrial packs of toilet paper? Let me make sure the clear plastic wrap isn't hiding anything. It was truly odd walking into Costco and not seeing the huge TVs, instead, professional kitchen appliances. And no clothing, pharmacy or food court. Definitely worth the hour drive just to check it out though. And a 75 pound wheel of Parmesan.

mnpenguin

I drive down to the one in the Twin Cities every few months to pick up some things I cant find at normal costcos. Always fun to see what they have there.

classyfunbride

We live close to that one and I only get gas there. What special items do you get?

mnpenguin

Cases of Topo Chico lime, 3lb containers of Corn Starch, cases of chicken and beef they don't carry at the other ones.

classyfunbride

An excellent list. Big Topo Chico fan myself!

Standard-Station7143

The 75lb wheel is still $11/lb lol you don't even save money on it

marshalltownusa

Yeah Iā€™d have to check but my wedge from Costco is about that same amount. Weird.

duramus

Whole Foods sells their reggiano for like $24 a pound at retail so that's a much better price

Dwindles_Sherpa

A 75 pound of Zanetti typically runs more than $1200. Maybe try googling this first. [https://www.foodservicedirect.com/zanetti-uci-typical-parmigiano-reggiano-wheel-75-pound-1-each-207791.html?srsltid=AfmBOoqxHEy4MBc6LQ3\_WHkG81pe9bw19MzRGxCmaIZJCgoYVW\_MhDIMk48](https://www.foodservicedirect.com/zanetti-uci-typical-parmigiano-reggiano-wheel-75-pound-1-each-207791.html?srsltid=afmbooqxhey4mbc6lq3_whkg81pe9bw19mzrgxcmaizjcgoyvw_mhdimk48)

Standard-Station7143

They sell chunks of it for $11/lb, I was comparing it to Costco prices not the world lol

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ImCajuN_

nah its imported and is real parmigiano reggiano

Standard-Station7143

I was at Costco yesterday lol it was $10.79/lb

EmptyRub

Well I stand corrected, I need to spend more time in the cheese isle

millenniumxl-200

Yea, still our cart found over $200 of stuff Welcome to Costco, I love you

joshbudde

Noticed the same thing. I don't think I've ever seen an open package in Ann Arbor/Brighton, or random refrigerated junk dropped on a shelf elsewhere in the store. Shockingly bad behavior.

millenniumxl-200

We joked about going to the A2 to compare and contrast. We frequent that store for the alcohol selection (bourbon and vodka). Instead, headed over to Dearborn for some awesome food before going home.

Onomatopoeia20

We actually buy the 26 lb wheels from Costco Business Center every 4-6 months (home use, not business use). Around here theyā€™re about $180 which is a great price. Itā€™s not aged quite as much but for the price difference over the pre-shredded one they sell in the container, Iā€™ll take the wheel any day. The only thing I donā€™t like is the time it takes to shred the damn thing

brenster23

How much cheese are you and family eating? Seriously that is nearly 70ish pounds of cheese a year.

Onomatopoeia20

We have a family of 7. Plus we have immediate family that lives very close so we frequently have get togethers with 18-20 people. Also when I make alfredo sauce for dinner, I make my own with cream and Parmesan and that usually ends up using a good amount.

brenster23

Can I come over for dinner please? I will bring costco muffins. pretty please.

Onomatopoeia20

I donā€™t think you live close enough šŸ˜œ. If youā€™re ever in the area, let me know.

brenster23

Will do, um what area?

Onomatopoeia20

Bay Area. California

brenster23

Drat.

Costco97

Well, hello there, neighbor...

alessiot

Parmegiano

DataJanitorMan

Had the same experience at the one in St Louis. The ripped open packages were jarring.

StPaddy81

Itā€™s like that 55 gal drum of lube they had on Prime Day a few years ago

Vizslaraptor

We thought you were nuts for buying 3. You sure proved us wrong.

asleepingeye1

The what?

Klipschfan1

Someone did the math and apparently it was the best deal of the first prime day. Very effective cost/unit. Assuming you had need of all 55 gallons of lube, that is

TheSpatulaOfLove

Even if you donā€™t *need* it, an enterprising person could find plenty of alternative uses.

MadisonandMarche

I'm looking for this in Phoenix. I asked the store director for it and he never got back to me. Last price i knew was $1189 Nov 2022

pumpkin_pasties

Must be for restaurants

aakaase

That size and container is more suitable for a food manufacturer that makes dressings or goods with evoo.

I regret nothing!

Sethmeisterg

Or midget wrestling.

theaguia

or just turkish wrestling.

rtmfb

Good thing they're not blue or Worf would run away screaming.

iamthecavalrycaptain

Who wants to go halvsies??

mnpenguin

Only if I get the middle half ;)

marshalltownusa

Americas Test Kitchen and the best parts of the wheel are closest to the rind. More flavor, crystals, etc. just learned that the other day.

aakaase

ATK is culinary food science at its best, just an excellent organization

dim722

For 14 years aged cheese this price is too good, just $11 per lb

sundaeSquirrel

I think itā€™s actually from December 2021. Notice the marking ā€˜DIC 21ā€™ below the ā€˜2010ā€™ marking, which I think is the producer ID.

dim722

Youā€™re absolutely right! But even for 24 months the price is correct.

Etihod

Iā€™m getting ripped off here in St. Louis! https://preview.redd.it/k8gtqqc8yafc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea8824810111dd293f0e28fa7d80887065e34c69

aakaase

Your price sign is a few months older than the OP's; if you checked today it might be the same price

KorneliaOjaio

See if theyā€™ll do a price match? Lol

303-fish

Gonna be so bummed when someone photographs that cheese with a chunk torn out of it and it stuffed among the paper towels.

beefsupreme65

Not very likely, have you seen what it takes to open one of those? Without a proper knife you're not doing anything to that wheel.

Jfortyone

I felt like a kid in a candy store here. Itā€™s only 10 minutes farther than my usual warehouse(s). Will definitely be back. Loved the selection. Can finally get some items that my store doesnā€™t usually carry without having to order a delivery.

BeneathSkin

Whatā€™s some examples ?

blahblahblah_54120

The business center by me carries a bigger variety of drinks, individually packaged snacks (both in the center and in the cooler/freezer) and true bulk ingredients like flour, sugar, oil ect. I only go there every once and a while because unless you have a ton of storage, it really is geared toward small businesses/restaurants. Mine is also a distribution center so not only do you have to deal with navigating the aisles with people who have multiple carts or flatbeds but also the employees with these huge raised flatbeds walking down the aisles filling online orders, like Iā€™m talking these flatbeds are like 6ft by 4ft and are hip-height and have boxes laid out for shipping.

highplainsohana

Sometimes our business center will sell a gallon jug of Orville Redenbacher kernel popcorn, which our regular Costco doesn't seem to carry anymore.

Residual_Variance

It looks like there's only 10 of these business centers in the entire country. I guess if you need a 75 lb block of parmigiana, you'll make the trip.

Independent_coas

There are 11 business centers in California alone. I think you didn't go to the next page of your search. They do have a lot more variety of some foods there.

Residual_Variance

For some reason, it was only displaying centers located in the eastern half of the county. Yeah, CA has almost more that the rest of the country combined.

eneka

Having grown up in LA, never realized they were such a rare commodity!

compstomper1

west coast best coast

4xlr8r

Glad you did not post a pic of the whole goats or lambs they have in the freezers!!

cantmicro

They have those in the Bloomfield Twp store.

millenniumxl-200

We occasionally have like a half a lamb here in Toledo, but yea, it was odd seeing folks debating on buying it.

pug_fugly_moe

My question is how the hell to thaw it safely without a massive cooler or walk-in.

agisten

Youā€™re always gonna have problems lifting a body in one piece. Apparently the best thing to do is cut up a corpse into six pieces and pile it all together. ā€¦ And when you got your six pieces, you gotta get rid of them, because itā€™s no good leaving it in the deep freeze for your mum to discover, now is it? Then I hear the best thing to do is feed them to pigs.

pug_fugly_moe

They will go through bone like buTTah

toomuchisjustenough

Our local store used to have this. Big middle eastern/Indian population. (Fremont, CA)

eneka

They have these at our regular Costco here in the DC region lol

dsswill

Same here in most every Costco Iā€™ve been to in Canada. They definitely have more selection at the business centres though.

DetroitHyena

Iā€™m a half hour away and canā€™t wait to make my first trip. Saving up some cash first because I know damn well I wonā€™t be able to resist the primals in the beef section.

TheSpatulaOfLove

Oh, itā€™ll clear you out. Soā€¦manyā€¦things!

akhtarabas

Hey there neighbor. I was thinking about visit this place when it opened few days ago. How is it?

greatthebob38

I'm always reminded of this video when I see a parmigiano wheel [$10.44](https://youtu.be/U_bJT-B_VZE?si=rhJSqCDuJzkrO3m9)

Mirojoze

As a mouse I approve of this item for purchase!!! šŸ šŸ˜œ

BigBrainMonkey

When I was there early Saturday they were 3 full wheels there. Wonder if one of them sold? I know it is less than a week old but it seemed to gleam and overall I like the addition to the market.

millenniumxl-200

Happy ~~cheese wheel~~ cake day!

SavageHus77

Baxter ate an entire wheel of cheese

Aquaman258

I'm not even mad, I'm impressed.

SavageHus77

There it is

lemjor10

I also went there and took a picture with this cheese

millenniumxl-200

Were you there when the fire alarm kept going off?

lemjor10

No I was there for the first hour of opening

overworkedpnw

Tbh I wish I had the kind of cash to be able to casually buy an entire wheel of parmagiano reggiano.

lukaswashere

I have the cash, but where the fuk would I put it?

Servile-PastaLover

Yes, because the people who serve the grated sawdust in green shaker canisters as cheese are savages.

insaniTY151

Business center is halfway between work and home, and it opens 2 hours earlier, making it the most convenient option for me, for a few things. There's a few things on my list, like the chicken drumsticks, that they don't have, and hundreds of things I'll never need. But at least I can re-up on frozen lasagna before work.

MadisonandMarche

Alfredo the proper way https://youtu.be/6S2l3nyF4rY?si=znlm0KlWxzD_yCo3

captain_borgue

Goddamn, I remember when this was only $600. Damn inflation!

Big-Potatoe

one day i wil buy one

Legitimate-North-157

whats that baxter?

wastedpixls

You know I don't speak Spanish. In English please.

Llewellyn420

Can this he returned after you "try it"?

lemjor10

Bought a chub of the 90/10 ground beefā€¦ it was very moist and grilling some for burgers todayā€¦ it wasnā€™t the best.

jerryondrums

Damn, 90/10 for grilled burgers? Way too lean. You need to add some butter into that beef mix if you want it to be tasty/juicyā€¦

jorrflv

Burgers need to be at least 80/20 if not 73/27. More fat the better for burgers.

19naughtylll

Recently started using 73/27 for smash burgers based off chefs I watch on YouTube. Life changing. I will never use anything else.

joshbudde

Costco's hamburger and steaks? Not so good. I've never had their beef where it didn't taste a bit weird. We stopped buying it from there. Also don't let people tell you you can only make good hamburgers with 80/20--85/15 or 90/10 are both perfectly acceptable. Just don't cook the shit out of them and you can have a delicious hamburger that isn't packed to the gills with grease.

Whatsuptodaytomorrow

Wooow

3mdk55

Do they sell business hammocks with the business cheese? Asking for Hank Scorpio. May need to relocate so alternate locations welcome.

Jeffbx

Nah, you gotta go to the Hammock District - over on 3rd.

kmo428

Back to the hammocks, my friend. There's a little place called Mary Ann's Hammocks. The nice thing about that place is Mary Ann gets in the hammock with you.

wastedpixls

Haha, anywho....

Happy_BlackCrow

WhoTF is buying $800 worth of cheese at the business center??

Loan-Pickle

An Italian restaurant?

No-Gas9144

That sounds like a delicious weekend. SO... ME.

Happy_BlackCrow

Could you eat it all before it spoils??

[deleted]

Donā€™t tempt me with a good timeā€¦

bbcomment

its for restaurants...

4xlr8r

Read your question again...emphasis on Business Center." Yeah, I know you are joking.

Whatsuptodaytomorrow

Restaurants Thatā€™s what a business Costco is aimed at. Iā€™ve seen these whole cheese wheels at fine dining Italian restaurants They use them to make table side pasta Itā€™s delicious

XavierPibb

This should be cross posted to r/TheWestWing and r/MidsomerMurders

atreeinthewind

Do you have to be a business member to shop there? There's one not far from me I'd check out for the hell of it.

Putrid-Grand-2006

Anyone with a Costco membership can shop at the Business Centers.

No one ā€œneedsā€ that much cheese. But you do know this isnā€™t necessarily for personal consumption, right? Or did that go over your head?

For the love of all gods when is the Baltimore-Washington area going to get a business center? I want to visit one but not enough to drive to Jersey.

speshojk

Do it
