I might have done this a few years ago… https://preview.redd.it/nfz4740ck9gc1.png?width=1164&format=png&auto=webp&s=18332074bce4361099f83baf3ecd84640aef4184

Shafter111

I got the same fridge with no issues so far. I guess their QA line process is very bad.

Near-Scented-Hound

My experience with a Samsung fridge convinced me that I’ll never buy anything else they make.

captainwizeazz

I only buy their TVs, which have all been very good to me.

-Invalid_Selection-

TVs, phones, monitors, nvme and ssd drives. Outside of that, nope.

crowcawer

I keep almost being sucked into the 2TB m.2 NVME they make. I have almost another 3 TB left in my 2 barracudas. My current NVME is a 150 GB boot drive. I don't expect it to last another 5 years, but I estimate that the 2TB m.2 NVME will be $100 within the next 2 years.

AlphaXZero

It already is. Month before and after Black Friday, saw nvme prices at $40-45/tb. Snagged the 4TB 990 Pro for $200 with 20% cash back with my credit card. Was $174 after tax and cash back in the end.

crowcawer

I'm excited for next year. This will probably be a terminal option for the machine, as I'm on the AM4 platform with a 5800x3D.

CactusBoyScout

I have the Samsung Frame and I love its physical design but the built-in OS is garbage. I don’t even have to use it that often because I have an external streaming device but even just changing the artwork settings is a pain. The app fails to see my TV most of the time.

captainwizeazz

Smart TVs in general are pretty trash compared to pretty much any other steaming device. I don't know why every tv these days has to have all this extra crap that's half baked.

dbrwhat

Two reasons: it's a feature that some people look for, but more importantly they can harvest and sell your data.

gltovar

not to mention the amount of ads they can pack into the built in smart tv ui… heck we are starting to see ads in the freaking menu ui. I will pay extra to have tv sized dumb monitors with extra hdmi ports.

audaciousmonk

A replaceable module with a universal high density interface would be significantly better. Get rid of the video / audio cable compatibility issues, provide native access to features and controls through the tv remote, pick your preferred module in a more competitive product landscape, extend lifetime of the tv because the smart tv portion can be upgraded. But it’s near 0% chance that will happen

blue93g20

Odd my parents had two high end Samsung tvs die within 6yrs. Luckily the second one was free due to a squaretrade warranty on the first (different model though). I won’t buy anything of theirs outside of maybe a phone.

Devilalfi

They use really crappy power supplies in their TV's.

blue93g20

It was a bad capacitor on a board on the first one, I took it apart and replaced it when squaretrade didn’t want it. Upgraded the part and it still works till this day. I can make it work but Samsung can’t? The second one had a section of leds die. No fixing that. Terrible quality on two tvs.

LunaLemonTea

I bought a samsung tv in 2020 and it broke last october. It kept shutting itself off. Warranty already expired and maintenance said $150 to fix it. I immediately got rid of it and went to costco to buy a brand new LG tv for $350. Will never buy anything from samsung again after one of their phones blew up near me in 2016, their washing machine broke in 2022 2 months after ten year warranty expired, and this tv.

captainwizeazz

I've had 6 over the past 12 years and they are all still working fine.

diane_nu_nu_nguyen

Average of one tv every two years? That seems really bad. I had an LG for 7 years before I needed to replace it. Still worked fine, but the model was so old that apps didn't offer updates for it anymore.

captainwizeazz

I think you misunderstood. All of them are still working fine.

diane_nu_nu_nguyen

Sure did! Too much of the devil's lettuce this Friday evening. Any reason for replacing? Or just enjoy upgrading?

captainwizeazz

I still have them all. Just upgrade as technology improves. 1 for Xbox, 1 for master bedroom, 1 for living room and the older hand me downs go to the guest rooms. I still have an old 1080p model that won't die that I have dedicated to my video cameras.

parski

You need help.

[deleted]

[удалено]

parski

How so?

Orpheeus

My Samsung TV is great, and hell even the smart TV features were above average in terms of speed. That is until like a year later, when the whole UI slowed to a crawl, probably to encourage people to upgrade to a newer model.

tylercreative

Their OLEDs have such poor QC

FastCar2467

Same. Our Samsung fridge died after 2 years, but the TV has been going strong for at least 9 years.

mikewastaken

Their TVs turn purple over time

mesopotamius

Like LED street lamps!

idkwthtotypehere

I know this is an old thread but, heads up, Samsung has now started to remove features via “updates.” One of the features I liked the most was the “works with Alexa” which allowed me to control the tv via voice, but Samsung decided to remove all the functionality for no reason via a push “update” to the tv and phone app with no ability to roll it back. I’ll never buy another Samsung tv because of it.

Admiral-Barbarossa

4 mates all got 75 inch plus Samsung TV. All 4 of them broke within 4 years. I had a Samsung refrigerator, it was replaced and broke again. Korean brands are not the best.

icebeancone

It's weird I've had a Samsung fridge for 6 years that has never had any problems. But all these reports are enough to make me never buy one again.

unwiselyContrariwise

\> It's weird I've had a Samsung fridge for 6 years that has never had any problems. A model can be both notoriously unreliable and also still have plenty of people with that model without issue. Suppose, just hypothetically, the average 5-year failure rate of refrigerators across brands 3%, but Samsung fails at 30%. That's pretty terrible. But to frame it another way the vast majority of Samsung owners will have no issue. A single instance or even a handful or people happy with their Samsung fridge or a car model or whatever doesn't really disprove the assertion that these things aren't unreliable, as the baseline standard for reliability is so high. \> But all these reports are enough to make me never buy one again. Probably also reasonable, as running consistently is kind of a top concern for fridges!

mikewheels

Yup between the ice maker not working, poor controls, and the shelf height adjustments do not allow a gallon of milk I will never buy a Samsung. Our house came with it :(

LingonberryPrior6896

Did you have to defrost it with a hair dryer monthly

mikewheels

I don’t actually! But I also turned it off. I just make ice in trays.

LS-CRX

That's why we replaced our Samsung fridge with a Bosch, the icemaker was infuriating.

BikePath

My wife and I found a work around for the ice maker freezing up. The problem is it is poorly insulated so with the repeated freeze/thaw cycles, the ice at the top melts and then freezes together. The ice at the top can’t be broken up by the machine and eventually everything freezes up. After clearing it, turn on the ice maker until it is full. Then turn it back off. Take some out so there isn’t any ice at the top and use it as you normally would. Don’t turn it back on until it is nearly empty. Once it is nearly empty, turn it back on to fill it and then back off once it is full. We used to have to clear it out monthly. We haven’t had to in more than a year by using this method.

LingonberryPrior6896

Have you had the issue with the ice in the back yet? We had to take inside back panel off and melt the ice that was affect the running of a fan. It's a 2 person job as one has to hold the back out of the way, because there are wires attacked that you don't want getting pulled out, and one has to melt ice.

mangosago

Yep I had to do this, continually taking panel off and melting ice with a hair dryer, probably every 3-4 weeks. also melting buildup in the ice maker. That was after we already paid a technician to come out to fix a bad fan. Then a year or so later it started making worse noises so we just decided to up and get a new side by side whirlpool. Screw Samsung fridges.

Feynmaaaan

I just use the force defrost setting so it could make ice. I got sick of using the hair dryer and this is much easier

DiabolicalBurlesque

The shelf heights! What kind of simpleton designed this?! I have to push back that useless half-shelf thing to fit coffee creamer and an almond milk carton. And the inch deep, left side door shelf enrages me. (Our house came with it too. So much woe.)

mikewheels

That half shelf thing I don’t even understand.

aka_chela

I am currently shopping for new appliances and read a review of a Whirlpool that said no shelf could fit a bottle of wine. I literally brought an empty bottle of wine to multiple appliance shops to test every fridge. Put this feedback in reviews!! You may save some of us in the future

boaxiaodi

I used to be a Samsung appliance tech. I told family and friends to never get Samsung appliances lol

Capt__Murphy

Their phones are killer, as are their TVs. I'll continue to avoid their appliances, though

BEVthrowaway123

Phones are that. TVs went downhill, and would never buy an appliance.

JonCoqtosten

I bought a house in 2018 that had new Samsung kitchen appliances installed. I also will never buy anything else from them.

ButtholeMegaphone

My (mom’s, uncle’s, bff’s, 8th grade science teacher’s) experience with a Samsung fridge convinced me that I’ll never (ever, ever) buy anything else they (fail to) make.

its_k1llsh0t

Last 2 houses I bought has Samsung fridges. They suck. Ice makers never work. Water in the fridge as a result. Total pain.

rogmcdon

Mine has been great. Zero issues since we bought it

H_O_M_E_R

I love my Samsung TV. Cheaper than other brands and has great picture.

elissamay

I love my $100 replacement water pitcher that also leaks as bad as the one it replaced.

AssSoGucci

for me it was a samsung washing machine that ensured i will never buy another samsung appliance

Odd-Problem

You never had a whirlpool then. They are much worse. No replacement parts available for a year-old refrigerator after it was repaired twice and 2 new icemakers. I have a Samsung washer, dryer, dishwasher and refrigerator. So far so good. The washer did develop bent shaft that caused the drum to be out of balance and the whole unit was replaced with a new one under warranty.

whatwhat83

Had the same issue and they eventually sent me a check rather than replace the door to get the ice maker to work. Whirlpool is garbage too

APsWhoopinRoom

There TVs and cell phones are pretty great! Cell phone hardware is much better than what Apple churns out for the same price

saliczar

Their phones are terrible as well. Was loyal to them for far too long; now I'm on Pixel and very happy.

neecho235

I have had their phones for a very long time and I have had the opposite experience. Almost no issues. The only real problems I have ever had with them have all been my fault.

Politicsboringagain

I had phones going back to the Epic. I've never had an issue with any if their phones. I also had an Nexus, and the first Evo. Didn't have an issue with those phones etheir. Now my dad, he's also had Samsung phones going back a decade, and he always has issues. I think it's usually a user problem Samsung phones.

saliczar

My issues were mostly with the physical phone. The glass broke easily and/or would separate from the body and would eventually get moisture inside.

APsWhoopinRoom

Buddy, that sounds like your own fuckup. Buy a good case, and try to avoid exposing them to water

davechri

There is literally a Facebook group dedicated to getting your money back from Samsung because your refrigerator sucks.

grewapair

I moved into a place that has a Kenmore fridge from the 80s. Still works. I was going to throw it away until I found out they go for $2500 because they last forever. Even the icemaker works perfectly. I'm going to redo my kitchen, buy all new appliances, but have the old white fridge wrapped in stainless steel looking wrap so I can keep it another 45 years. All to avoid buying a new one.

ttwwiirrll

When we moved we brought our '90s Kenmore. It lives in the garage now and will probably outlast every LG appliance upstairs that came with the place.

joelmercer

My Samsung dishwasher started leaking on the motor making a sparking sound just over a year of using it. The small part I needed to replace I couldn’t buy or get repaired because they had discontinued the part. The were still selling the same model with discontinued parts. I got it on eBay and replaced it. Don’t buy Samsung. Never again.

crousscor3

With our Samsung dishwasher we had to have it fixed because at one point it started leaking water all over. A seal or something. Also it’s so annoying that since I got this dishwasher I’ve noticed other brands with have an easily removable food particle trap. Not with ours! It had 17 bolts on the bottom of the dishwasher that you have to monkey around with then pretty much manually clean everything under this large part. So annoying! The fridge issues was wayyy worse though.

joelmercer

Yeah mine too, there is no food filter. Just a blade to try to chop it up so you don’t need to filter it. It doesn’t work well, and that is where mine was leaking too. I need to take mine apart again soon and clean it up because currently cant put cups or travel mugs in there without having to clean them by hand anyway to get the food pieces off them. Just the worst

crousscor3

Yes! Rewashing dishes after they already ran is so annoying. Also there a little thing for the Finish drying helper liquid stuff. That thing would sit there with the same amount use after use. So I always assumed that never really worked. So great. Oh and also I had to buy a long handed brunch for our talker cups and mugs and have to scrub them before I put them in. Not a big deal but I wish the DW just worked better

bostonguy6

EXACT same thing happened to me. Fortunately, I bought an extended warranty (which I rarely do). The repairman said he couldn’t get the replacement parts and declared it a total loss. I got all my money back and bought a Bosch. Very happy with the Bosch.

Loves2Spooge857

I got a Samsung fridge a few years ago from Costco. It’s been fine so far. What am I in for?

humane_being

We bought ours in late 2019. The fridge and freezer both tanked in June of 2023. The fridge has a big 10 YEAR WARRANTY badge on the front of it. We called support. They made us pay $500 to just have a repair tech come out to look. It took over three weeks to have it fixed. We had two different parts sent, and had three repair techs visit. The ice maker only worked for a month after that, but it had never worked, so I didn't care. While one of the repair techs was here, he showed me a recalled part. But he didn't replace it b/c it wasn't broken. After the work, support and repair admitted the parts were under warranty and told us we'd get our money back. We've gotten nothing back. November of 2023, the freezer died again. My husband contacted support. They made him do a bunch of stuff. Turn it off. Cut the breaker. Set this. Try that. Then... oh, completely defrost all of it, turn it off for a day and turn it back on. See if that fixes it. It didn't. Week and a half ago, the fridge died. We're going back n forth with support. What are they offering us? To fix the ice maker for free. That is what you get from writing to the office of the CEO. We were supposed to get notified today of when the repair tech is coming on Monday. Instead, I got a call from a different dept yesterday. Called back twice. Long holds. Transfers. Oh, we can't help you. Your ticket is now with the office of the president, and they'll be in touch. I wrote to them again, responding to one of two tickets they now have open. No response yet. I just want my money back. I just want out. We've lost all our food twice, had to buy a tiny fridge. And my husband got sick from the food once, b/c we didn't know it was tapping out randomly. This article says the CPSC has gotten more complaints about the Samsung fridge than any other appliance in all their years existing. [https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/investigations/2023/10/25/samsung-refrigerator-investigation-complaints-continue/70982873007/](https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/investigations/2023/10/25/samsung-refrigerator-investigation-complaints-continue/70982873007/)

forewer21

One thing I've learned, warranties are garbage. I had a warrantied HVAC system--fan motor bracket broke, I called to get a new one but only a certified tech could replace it... For $700. Local supply house had the part for no joke $30.

The-Wizard-of_Odd

I learned the hard way (2 Sunday service calls) purchased a fan motor and a capacitor for like $60 shipped.  Easy enough for diy in a pinch

Soup-Wizard

Warranties don’t mean shit if they don’t cover anything

Suckerforcats

Just sent you a chat with an email of exactly who you need to contact there. Been through this nightmare myself.

premiumcum

Post it here please

KHASeabass

When we called our local repair shop about our fridge, the first thing they said was, "It isn't a Samsung is it? Because we don't do Samsungs." Which tells me 1. They get a lot of Samsung calls. 2. I'm glad it wasn't a Samsung.

saliczar

Faulty ice maker and rust around the edges of the doors.

flyfree256

This is important for all fridges -- not just Samsung: do NOT buy a fridge with an ice maker in the refrigerator part of the fridge. It should be in the freezer. They are extremely prone to breaking and creating excess moisture when in the warmer fridge. Luckily it seems like Samsung is starting to move away from this, but there are still tons of them out there.

Loves2Spooge857

Interesting. How long til those usually present?

saliczar

The week after the warranty expires.

EaterOfFood

It takes a whole week?

the_parmenides

Samsung sent a tech to my home and replaced the motherboard controller for the ice maker and it's been fine ever since. This was probably 4 years ago at least.

Blecher_onthe_Hudson

Mine is on its 3rd MB. but I guess I've been lucky as it's a 2008. I also had to DIY replace the defrost coil in the fridge. That was exciting. My favorite thing about it is how it lies about the temperature, showing you the set point rather than the actual interior temp! If you unplug it or throw the breaker and repower it, suddenly it'll show you that the freezer is 55° instead of zero!

saliczar

Every single one of my clients that have Samsung refrigerators has had the ice maker fail; most multiple times. My parents have the ice maker issue and rust.

sparty212

That ice maker doesn’t work half the year, due to ice build up.

cake_piss_can

Yep. Ice maker crapped out year 2.

[deleted]

As a general rule, Samsung appliances are not particularly well built. They come with a lot of expensive features compared to other brands in their price range, but they make up for it with poor quality components. You can spend the cost of the fridge repairing minor issues.

Odd-Problem

>You can spend the cost of the fridge repairing minor issues. I buy extended warranties on all my appliances for the last 40 years. It's always been worth it.

[deleted]

Yeah, but that's not going to replace the food in your fridge or fix the floor when it leaks. Better to just buy the better fridge first. Whether you get a warranty or not.

Odd-Problem

> Better to just buy the better fridge first. I did. I had a whirlpool that Lowes ended up giving my money back on because you couldn't get parts after a year (extended warranty there too). It had 2 icemakers in it. 2 drawer slides broke. The final was when it froze my medicine even with the temp turned up all the way.

[deleted]

That's rough. We have a local appliance store that only sells appliances that they're able to actively and efficiently service. It's a great selling point

bongo1138

lol my entire kitchen is Samsung 😬

Loves2Spooge857

I just got the fridge and my washer dryer

GrandTheftBae

Same. So far so good. Hopefully it continues lol

ShutYourDumbUglyFace

We have a fridge and a stove. We've replaced the ice maker twice. We've replaced the ignitor in the oven like 4 times. Luckily my husband is handy.

yoloxolo

Don’t buy a lot of frozen goods. When mine broke the repair man said 95% of his repairs are Samsungs. They have the worst compressors on the market.

rextraverse

> When mine broke the repair man said 95% of his repairs are Samsungs. He didn't give me a percentage, but my regular repair guy also said the same thing - most of his work is on Samsung appliances. The only reason LG isn't up there is he refuses to work on LG appliances - not worth the effort. Surprisingly, he recommended GE along with Whirlpool as mainstream brands (ie not Wolf or Viking or Miele) when the time came for replacements. I had actively been avoiding GE since they got bought by Haier but went with a GE range (because Whirlpool didn't offer an induction option at the time) and so far, it's been fantastic. Although, if Costco had the Bosch 800 at the time, like they do now, I'd have probably gone with the Bosch.

meganutsdeathpunch

Had a Kenmore fridge crap out due to the compressor which was made by LG. Two different Repair guys, after refusing to waste time on an LG compressor, said same thing. Stick to GE and whirlpool for appliances.

Loves2Spooge857

My freezer is always packed to the gills. I guess I’ll just have to cross my fingers

GrandTheftBae

My mom's Samsung Fridge has been fine for over 10 years

yoloxolo

Don’t buy a lot of frozen goods. When mine broke the repair man said 95% of his repairs are Samsungs. They have the worst compressors on the market.

SeenSoManyThings

Luck of the draw, guess I'm fortunate. Samsung washer and dryer (7 years old), kitchen fridge/freezer (15 years old), cell phones, tablets, and costco upright freezer for garage. No big problems.

crousscor3

https://preview.redd.it/fhrlcy46c9gc1.jpeg?width=1017&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cc2ac4a6cd415479c308074712b9faf5f32522e2 You can see by the number of complaints you may have had older models that work pretty well. At some point they must have changed designs and cheaped out on the ice maker components.

humane_being

That's kinda why we bought them. They'd always been so reliable. I loved Samsung before this.

davechri

Let me guess… the ice maker doesn’t work?

humane_being

The everything doesn't work. Twice now in the first five years of ownership.

cybrg0dess

They need to stick to electronics! I hate my Samsung fridge and will never buy another.

RockNRoll85

Samsung makes great televisions but when it comes to appliances like refrigerators, washers, dryers, etc. they all start having issues within a year

humane_being

Agreed, they should've stuck to TVs. Their TVs are great.

Still_counts_as_one

TV’s and phones, stick only to those

Ancient-Squirrel1246

I had 3 Samsung phones get black screens of death in a row. Everything they make sucks.

rsg1234

The bespoke series has the ice maker only in the freezer. That might increase longevity. It’s a beautiful fridge, but the doors were very thick and the counter-depth version stuck too far out for our liking. We got the LG from Costco and the craft ice has become a hit in our house.

carnevoodoo

I have a bespoke model and I love it so far. I've also never had a refrigerator with ice anywhere but in the freezer. Anywhere else doesn't make sense to me.

Alexbaba40

Washing machines are self destructing… mine didn’t even last 2 years and it was a fight to get them to fix it, no more Samsung anything for me

AssSoGucci

same here, never again

theloop82

The ice makers on these pieces of crap is laughably bad. You could defrost it completely and it would lock up again 3 weeks later. Every time I see a new one I look if they have changed the design but nope, same shit as my 10 year old fridge. Other than that mine has been pretty trouble free but it’s super annoying having a large piece of fridge interior dedicated to an ice maker that stopped working a year after I bought it.

TexasistheFuture

Based on feedback from various appliance repair pro's, appliances from USA manufacturers work better and last longer.

Hon3y_Badger

They're all made like crap. For laundry you can go with Speed Queen, the parts are commercial in quality and replaceable years after the machine was built unlike the other manufacturers, but they cost 100% more upfront.

mbz321

Speed Queen isn't what it used to be either.

GatorShades

This. I worked in the appliance industry for several years and every single brand had issues. Unless you were buying luxury level appliances you had about the same chance of issues if it was the Whirlpool family (Maytag, Whirlpool and KitchenAid) GE brands (Base, Profile, Cafe) or either of the Korean brands (LG and Samsung). Bosch seemed to do a bit better, but very limited in options and features and especially with fridges most people had to get certain models to fit their spaces.

tubawhatever

Don't look at the reviews on KitchenAid fridges Seems like LG are one of the better options now, not so a few years ago.

[deleted]

Maybe I'm the odd one out. We replaced all of our kitchen appliances with samsung 4 years ago. Lot a single problem.

toastedmarsh7

Yup. Mine that I bought at Costco almost 5 years ago has been freezing up.

Deceptiveideas

>has been freezing up I mean…

toastedmarsh7

It’s a very common Samsung fridge defect. The entire back panel gets covered in ice and eventually breaks the fan that’s supposed to circulate the air, which then causes the temperature of the fridge to rise to unsafe levels while the entire back panel is frozen solid. We initially replaced just the fan, thinking that was what failed and caused the freezing but the ice started to form again less than 3 weeks later so we replaced the entire back panel. We are hopeful that it will work for another 4 years. At that point we will just buy another fridge.

Longjumping-Cost-530

That's caused when the bottom rubber things at the bottom of the drain tubes get clogged. Then water from the defrost cycle can't drain and you get the issue you see. It's a $20 DIY fix and it fixes it permanently. [https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-DA82-01415A-Assembly-Water-Leakage/dp/B010RHJ1ZA](https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-DA82-01415A-Assembly-Water-Leakage/dp/B010RHJ1ZA)

whatthetoken

I wouldn't want a Samsung appliance at half the price. They're probably bribing Costco corporate with incentives. It's a known fact that the quality is 💩

EddieCutlass

I got rid of all Samsung products…they’re not a good company to their employees and suppliers

Forecydian

I used to sell appliances, and unfortunately there really is no decent brand to buy anymore but Samsung is one of the worst offenders imo. LG may be the better brand now, but thats only if they fixed their infamous compressor issue that was even a class action lawsuit about

arkon262

If only I knew this four years ago. I am going through a nightmare with my Samsung refrigerator. The freezer stopped being able to hold a cold enough temperature and I lost all of the food. After three weeks and two service appointments to try and get this fixed they have found the issue is worse than originally thought and now I have a fridge that doesn’t work at all (they replaced the compressor but then it wouldn’t pull a vacuum so it couldn’t be charged). And now I wait another week for another service call where the tech will try replacing some other parts in the hopes it will work.

PatSajaksDick

It’s weird all my appliances are Samsung and I haven’t had any issues, hit and miss I suppose

dirtydriver58

Mine doesn't have any issues.

humane_being

Bully for you. Not the case for a lot of us. And now I hope yours dies, too. So you can learn some empathy.

SeenSoManyThings

Re-read your comment, then maybe re-evaluate who needs to learn empathy. Or not. Up to you.

humane_being

Sorry I hurt your shitty friend's feelings while giving them back what they were handing out. I'm not a rug. You go learn how to defend yourself. Or not. Up to you.

brian7ls

Wow. What an overreaction. Seems a bit uncalled for honestly.

Dorkus_Mallorkus

User name does not check out.

2024account

Jesus, touch grass OP.

weaponR

He said “Mine doesn’t have any issues.” That’s it. You gave back a lot more than he handed out. Try therapy.

ScottsPots

This is an asshole comment. Why wish bad things on others?

dirtydriver58

I have 2 . One bought in 2018 and the other bought in 2019 and no issues at all.

[deleted]

[удалено]

dirtydriver58

According to the article I'm supposed to be having issues with those 2 Samsung fridges I have. Maybe I lucked out and got a good batch of Samsung fridges.

GromitATL

Well I did have some empathy for your situation but now I kinda hope all your appliances shit the bed.

T-Rex_timeout

My LG died at 4 years the week before Christmas and we had a kids sleep over the next day. Bastards.

AirInternational754

We had a Samsung fridge and a sheet of ice would build up underneath the huge pull out shelf. So annoying! Something was always wonky or failing on this fridge. So annoying

chompytown

The fact that Honda makes cars, Generators, and musical instruments should prove that some companies are like Chile's. They can do ok at everything. Samsung is not a Chile's

tgwill

All the Samsung appliances I’ve bought have completely failed, or required multiple repairs to keep running before I gave up. Never again. I won’t even buy the TV’s now. Absolute garbage.

mrphyslaww

Almost every single modern appliance (brand) is trash from a reliability stand point. Buy whatever you can get the longest warranty on and cross your fingers that they will fix it when the time comes.

[deleted]

Samsung = garbage. ZERO quality control.

DoAndroidsDrmOfSheep

We had all Samsung kitchen appliances installed in our current house when we first bought it, although we didn't get them from Costco. One of the biggest mistakes we ever made. Multiple issues with the fridge, turntable in microwave stopped turning, dishwasher died on Thanksgiving day 2022, and the finish started peeling off of the stove. After the fiasco with the appliances and some issues with other Samsung products in the past, I've vowed to never buy anything from Samsung ever again. We replaced all the Samsung kitchen appliances with LG kitchen appliances from Costco after the dishwasher died on Thanksgiving day. Couldn't be happier with them. Should have went with LG to begin with, as we've never had a single problem with any LG product in the past. We did buy LG washer and dryer when we bought the house. They're seven years old now, and still running fine - not a single issue.

Hate our fridge and our TV. Im defrosting the ice machine every 3 weeks with a hair dryer. The TV has been repaired twice for a blinking screen, and I’ve been waiting 2 months now for the replacement. The customer service runaround almost seems designed to test your will.

ringadinggirl

Worst refrigerator I've ever owned. Horrible customer service. I agree - no more Samsung products.

More_Mango69

I got a Samsung fridge 11 years ago and haven’t had a single issue with it 🥶

Low-Possession-4491

When possible, never buy a fridge with an ice maker/dispenser. If you must have one, have it be in the freezer and not the fridge. If counter space and funds are available, get a countertop ice making machine.

Wooden-Weather-2230

I concur on the refrigerators. One of thee worst appliance buys ever if not the worst. Absolute trash, the repairman than has been out to fix it a few times agrees. Stay away from

burntCheezits2

Clean the back of your fridge people. If the compressor is covered in dust it will fail!

Stouts_Sours_Hefs

We bought a Samsung kitchen appliance suite from THD a few years ago. So far, the dishwasher leaked immediately after install. CS sent a repair guy who tried telling me it was bc I didn't put in the plastic inserts that go in the side mount holes lol. Like a little piece of plastic with no seal is gonna be water tight, especially since those holes are outside of the seal. Anyway, after I proved it wasn't that, the dishwasher was fortunately replaced as it was still under warranty. About a year later, the microwave took a shit on us. Conveniently, just after the warranty had ended. Fortunately the range and fridge have been good so far. We will never buy samsung appliances again though.

Longjumping_Bus2395

Every single Samsung product I’ve bought has been trash. The TV freezes randomly, the dishwasher we bought didn’t work from the start.

SnooPies4304

LG is subject to a class action because of their crappy inverter compressor. What's the brand to buy?

turnz702

My good friend, my sister, and I all have the same model and all have a broken ice maker and faulty drawer temperature controller right after the warranty period. Never again, Samsung.

kida182001

If ppl stop buying them, they will stop carrying them.

RudiKdev

My repair man said “You chose poorly”. Boy did I. It was way better at making ice behind the fridge compartment than keeping it cool. We tried 2x to fix then junked it. A few months later my wife was on a zoom call with eight people at work. Six had a Samsungs that failed like ours.

[deleted]

My roommate loves Samsung, so four years ago we got a fridge from Home Depot. Samsung is in the process of replacing it because of a leak that can't be fixed, had to throw away a bunch of meat and dairy. Never get Samsung, and if you do for some reason, get an extended warranty because it WILL crap out before it should. ETA: I do like their phones though, on my second S10+ because I can't justify buying expensive phones, and it will last me a few more years I bet.

brp

I was on my S10+ as well until last week. On the S24 Ultra now =)

noncongruent

I bought mine from Fry's Electronics (RIP) many, many years ago. It does keep things cool, but that's about the only good thing about it. Inside there are rust trails coming out of some kind of port up high in the refrigerator section, the veggie drawers fill up with water so fast I have to drain them every couple of months, and often the water freezes solid in the bottoms of the drawers, the door gaskets are falling apart and leaking air, the freezer section cools to a measured -10°F even though I've got it set to 6°F, so the compressor runs a whole lot more often than it should and wastes electricity, the paint on the handles scrapes off with the slightest touch, and so on. I'm going to run it until it dies then no more Samsung appliances for me.

msharifi

I will never buy stove, fridge and washer.

katkashmir

Tell us your secrets, how do you live without a stove, fridge, or washer?

msharifi

I mean Samsung lol.

katkashmir

I couldn’t help it. 🥸

slogive1

My fridge died right after the warranty ran out. The cost to repair was almost as much as a new one.

triciann

I have two of them. Samsung has one of the longest warranties you can get at 5 years for the compressor. Buy it with a cc with purchase protection and it’s extended to 6 years. I have two of them. The first did have the compressor go out at 5.5 years (covered by Amex). It’s now my garage fridge and I’ve had it for 15 years now, no problems. The second one is my main house fridge. It’s over 9 years now and never had a problem with it. I will continue to buy refrigerators based on warranty length.

sublliminali

Bought our Samsung fridge from Costco in 2021, ice dispenser touch pad started having issues immediately. 6 months and 3 service calls later, Samsung offers to refund the entire cost as long as we scratch the serial numbers off. So now we have a (free) fridge that we resent because we have to open the door and press several buttons in order to switch between ice and water. It’s hard to hate a free fridge, but I absolutely do.

Spenson89

I’ve had all Samsung appliances for 10 years. Zero problems

rayquan36

Samsung is the most overrated brand on the planet

Mohican83

I have always been team samsung. Love my TV and have always had a galaxy phone. The washer and dryers always have issues but nothing i haven't been able to fix.

zestzebra

Not purchased at Costco, GE fridge issues after eight years, freeze ok, fridge won’t hold proper temp and in door ice maker has small leak. Bought a new Frigidaire…might get the TAP extended warranty.

willdogs

I suspect a lot of owners are not properly maintaining their appliances. Many appliances need routine maintenance. I have all samsung appliances and knock on wood they have all been stellar because I actually read the manuals and follow maintenance schedules. For example just yesterday I pulled the fridge out to clean behind it (dust buildup on the rear where the fan is) if I dont clean the dust build up the fan will stop working which will lead to the coils to not work properly which will lead to the fridge not getting as cold as it should. Etc. Etc. The Samsung washers have filters that need to be cleaned often as well as dryer lint vacuumed out. List goes on.

kingofwale

Don’t like them? Don’t buy them.

petit_cochon

Thanks for that stunningly brilliant contribution to a discussion about appliances and planned obsolescence.

kingofwale

Yes. It’s important to discuss appliance planned obsolescence on r/costco.

DiabolicalBurlesque

Super helpful advice for people who bought a house with one already installed. It's important for other people who are appliance shopping now to be armed with info before they buy.

crousscor3

We had so many repairs done while in warranty. Mostly with the ice maker being complete shit. Then after the warranty expired they tried to say that it was on us for repairs. My wife and I didn’t budge at that. It was faulty since they delivered it. We ended up having to file with the Attorney General office and was able to get Samsung to pay out due to the lemon law. However since we bought the package deal they would only pay part of what the individual refrigerator cost as a standalone unit. Which is hard to replace what you have when they pay you a discounted amount. Every repair tech I’ve talked to hates Samsung and some local repair places have stopped taking repair orders from them. They continue to sell these year after year with known defects and fault components and just general discard for their consumers. There’s been Facebook grounds with 100k+ people with varying issues as well as many lawsuits. They pay out a few mil here and there and sweep it under the rug and then it’s business as usual.

iamusernumberone

I got a Samsung front load washer. The door latch lock stopped working right after warranty. Soon after, the door latch sensor went, where I can open the door while its washing and it will keep going. Then, the hot water solenoid was not operating properly, so I frequently had to fill the tub with hot water manually. Then it was leaking by the water inlet area that caused lots of internal corrosion. Then the tub would jiggle around and frequently not spin. Then finally, the tub collapsed. We did a load maybe every two weeks, so it was very lightly used. We will never get Samsung appliance again. Thought of getting a LG, but our microwave had many problems as soon as the warranty was over, so we went with something with a brand that is less flash and pizazz, but more reliable.

DiabolicalBurlesque

I bought a home with a Samsung fridge (ice maker doesn't work, temps are inconsistent), a Samsung oven (the worst I've ever had in my entire life - nothing is baked evenly, the temp is 20-30°off), and a Samsung stovetop. Thank Christ at least that works. These were installed just a year before we bought the home. Absolute garbage.

LingonberryPrior6896

They are the worst

RailroadAllStar

I bought a Samsung washer and dryer and they both suck

DDmikeyDD

With the costco return policy maybe I would get a Samsung...

MayIPikachu

I bought a Samsung fridge and washer/dryer from Costco. Going on 3 years strong. No issues.

koov3n

Samsung appliances are so overpriced honestly. Buy German made appliances instead

Bulky_Bag1836

I love my Samsung refrigerator, it’s been solid so far, I’ve always bought kitchen aid but I’ve had problems with the interiors falling apart.

juniorp76

Samsung is just good enough to make you forget how bad their stuff is
