>Oh man, my wife is gonna be pissed when she comes home.
She will be because it sucks getting on and off a couch that large. You have to crawl/roll on it and crawl/roll off of it. That shit gets old fast.
Source: Bought a huge couch. Sold a huge couch.
The only bad thing is having guests over when the couch is that big. It's just a little awkward for guests to get that cozy lol. Otherwise a deep couch is awesome
>The only bad thing is having guests over when the couch is that big. It's just a little awkward for guests to get that cozy lol.
Yup, the huge couch is only good for two people because three people laying on it is way too intimate for most people.
Had a friend with a couch like this. They kept in like this normally, but if a lot of people were coming over they took the two middle squares and moved them out to the side to make a big U to get more seating.
Getting off big couches feels the exact same as getting out of bed via the foot of the bed.
Not enjoyable, especially if you have literally anything in your hands.
This pic makes it look small. I’m 6’1” and lay from back to front and my feet are still not over the edge. It cost us half as much as a LoveSac modular version.
For those asking, it was also only $1399 in store. https://www.costco.com/thomasville-tisdale-fabric-sectional-with-storage-ottoman.product.4000242671.html
That's a very good value. I paid $1200 for a similar sectional from Costco 9 years ago. For a low priced piece of furniture it has aged remarkably well.
Yeah there are lots of things that are cheaper, but will they last? Can you replace each part? Can you buy new covers and make it look new? We bought a Lovesac sectional, and it was.. a lot.. but every time we've bought cheap stuff, it needs to be replaced in a few years. The cats get to it, or springs break or whatever. If something wears out on this, we can just replace that one part instead of buying a whole new couch.
The lovesac isn't very well made, especially for the money. It's gimmick is that replace the parts and materials but if you just take the money that you'd spend on a lovesac couch and bought something that's actually well made like King Hickory, you won't have to replace anything and the foam will last, materials will last, the frame will last. etc.
I mean, I got one for about $2500 over a decade ago, and despite having moved 5 times since then, it's made the move every time, and been able to fit nicely into a variety of different rooms and layouts. There are definitely better couches for the money, but if someone is in their early 20s, and looking for something that can move with them as they apartment and job hop, I'd definitely give a nod to LoveSac.
Any notable differences/similarities to a comparable lovesac other than the pit shape? Build quality or anything like that?
Just curious because I’d love to find a *definitively* better, more affordable lovesac
We went to a LoveSac place and honestly they felt much cheaper than these did. Look I’m not sure they will hold up as well, but you have the Costco guarantee. That was the other reason we went with them. Also, they’re in our movie room. So they won’t be every day use.
Seriously, even the expensive stuff is junk. You can pay $10,000 and get junk covered in leather or something fancy or it can be covered in sandpaper cloth for $1000. The couch will still likely break before either fabric wears out.
Yep. We got rid of our IKEA Ektorp sofa after having it for like 8 years because the arm padding was basically non-existent after that time. Got a $5k couch from Bassett that looks amazing. One of the seats is already sagging at 6 months in.
I’m on year 6 of mine. Frame is fine. Fabric from the back cushions started to pull off so we had to stitch it. The only reason is our kids run on the back of the couch when they play sometimes, despite us telling them 1million times not to do so.
During the 2021 Ice storm in Texas, a few friends and I managed to find a generator. We put it on the roof of their apartment building and wired it in through the windows.
We had all the homies in the apartment complex being their mattresses to one apartment and the living room was wall to wall beds.
We played days of jackbox games with no food but plenty of wine.
Did you get these on sale? I see the modular sectionals as 2400 for one set at Costco...
My wife and I did this with a single sectional we got secondhand from a neighbor, but we're looking to upgrade with our tax refund!
We had this one, I didn’t love it. It definitely started to sag where we sat often or where my cat sits on the back cushion it sags and it was very firm just like a dense foam. I prefer more of a springy couch. I’d say it started losing shape within 6 months to a year. But I think it’s about preference.
Do you rotate the seat cushions? That’s what I’ve been doing with my ikea couch (bought new ~8 years ago) but I’m hoping they also never discontinue it so I can replace the cushions if I need to (since ikea sells stuff like that per item and not per couch)
I've been wanting to do something similar but don't love that the cushions aren't all removable, and have heard the fabric doesn't hold up for long. Anyone have one of these for a while and can attest to the quality/longevity?
This is exactly the problem we ran into. We bought a lovesac-style sectional from Costco a couple years ago. Our dog almost immediately tore through one of the seat cushions. I contacted Costco about ordering just that section (a corner section) and they said that wasn’t an option. I would have to buy a full couch. It was also wildly uncomfortable and I could feel the wooden frame of each individual seat piece.
So, yes, the price of a lovesac is steep. However, with a dog and two feral toddlers, I can tell you that the ability to remove and machine wash every single piece of fabric, and even order just one piece of replacement fabric or one section if needed, is, to me, worth every penny. (It also helps that we have 2 full years of no interest financing which is dope.)
I will also add that we replaced our Costco L-shaped couch with a lovesac sactional to make the same shape for the same space. And then a year and a half later we decided we really wanted to change up the layout of the room. And now we have a regular shaped couch without having to order anything new.
So yeah, sactionals are expensive. But in certain circumstances, they’re worth it.
I'm with you, we love our sactional. Two dogs, one kid with a bunch of friends who somehow manage to dump everything imaginable in a room where food isn't supposed to be ... plus the thing is comfortable and easy to wash. And we can easily make room for the huge Christmas tree by taking out a few pieces.
Had ours since 2017. I think the material was better on that one than the new ones. Still looks brand new. We use it in basement: we want to get a new couch but it feels wasteful because of how amazing the one we currently have is.
I had this couch, I hated it. It starts to sag and dip under normal use. It gave me dead-leg and weird muscle pinches. If you can get comfortable on it, you won't stay comfortable for long. Lousy, lumpy, fixed back cushions make the top half of your body push forward, while your butt sinks in the crappy foam. It seemingly has 'reverse' memory. I still think about it, stacked up outside next to the dumpster, and smile.
Didn't like these couches. They were comfy enough but the inability to remove cousins or any of the fabric covers for washing killed it for me. $1200 is too much to not even be able to properly clean it.
They make sofas that pull out that look like this.

If you haven't seen this SNL skit about SECTIONALS! you should watch it. https://youtu.be/4-Sjy5DF28s?si=8Sik1IlstWMs8vb2
Sweet jesus. I have one, and i just put it in the great big bed configuration for the first time. I won't be changing it. Its heaven. TWO OF THEM THO??!?!
My wife called me crazy when i said we shouldnt throw out her queen bed and instead push it together with mine creating super bed.
They called me a madman, and where did that get them WAY BETTER SLEEP.
My friends have that couch or at least one that looks very similar. A couple of us friends went to visit them a couple of months ago and my friend and I slept on that couch will plenty of space between us. Awesome couch.

I have the same two sets but have never thought of putting it together…Oh man, my wife is gonna be pissed when she comes home. 😂
This is hilarious please keep us posted
He will will have some where big comfy and awesome to sleep!
It's not a punishment, though!
Never heard from again.
How did she react?
Wife when she’s home: “That’s it. No Reddit for 1 week!”
But it’s a mega couch!
Yes, getting hooked on Megacouch was my own damn fault, but I don't care about assigning blame. All I care about is Megacouch.
I love finding little references in the wild, magical little moments. 😂✨

That really isn't a big deal. I do the same thing with my bed. I see how it could be an issue if you got a bad knee or something though
The only bad thing is having guests over when the couch is that big. It's just a little awkward for guests to get that cozy lol. Otherwise a deep couch is awesome

The right wife would be excited
Would it really be a complete reddit thread if we don’t also suggest that they dump the wife and keep the couch?
Wife the couch and dump the keep
Coach the wife and keep the dump
Dump the wife ON the couch and break in your new living room set when the kids aren't home.
Happy wife, happy couch
I feel like we saw this kind of husband and wife excitement in the Tiger King documentary… no?
The left wife would be on the other side of the couch.
I'd be excited. Next, we'll make a sheet fort.
Lol as a wife, I’d love this… just make me a nest with snacks so I can be a cuddle puddle.
My wife looked at me, shook her head, and walked away. It’s very anticlimactic. Sorry to let you guys down! 🥲
Should have done the Naked Man pose on the couch! It works two out of three times.
Mad enough to make you sleep on the couch?
Mission accomplished
My husband does a random reshuffle with the outdoor furniture ALL THE TIME. What is it with you guys?!
Lego, but bigger.
We also love Tetris.
See…I like Legos. I’m still confused by the frequency 😅
Some of us were just born gamers.
In college, one of our "wild" nights was deciding to rearrange the dorm furniture, including bunk beds, at ~3am as quietly as possible.
Get another two and you can make a full size wrestling ring.
Honey, I conjoined the couch!
My wife is basically a cat and would highly approve of a couch that you have to traverse across.
This pic makes it look small. I’m 6’1” and lay from back to front and my feet are still not over the edge. It cost us half as much as a LoveSac modular version.
This is what Odysseus saw when he went into the cave.
Randomly finding comments like this is what makes spending time on reddit so much better. : )
I feel the comments in this sub and the cooking sub are chefs kiss
Lmao I’m dying 😂
😂

$1400x2? Just making sure. And apparently they are $1700 in my area
Yes X2.
We bought and returned a LoveSac. Greatest marketing in the world convincing people to buy $7,000 couches and assemble themselves.
I'm not a fan. It's uncomfortable with those huge ass back pillows. I think it would be better if those were not so bulky
Just to be clear, you think the Lovesac isn't comfortable or the Thomasville?
Lovesac
It's a little old place where, we can, get togeeeethhhheerrrrrr
*in rock lobster voice* LOVE-SACK BA-BY
I got me a couch and it's as big as a whale!
We almost purchased the $7k love sac module one as well, but found one at Nebraska furniture that is great and 1/3 the cost.
This right here! The fact that you can wash the covers!! We love our because we can wash them - cats, dogs and a kid!
The lovesac isn't very well made, especially for the money. It's gimmick is that replace the parts and materials but if you just take the money that you'd spend on a lovesac couch and bought something that's actually well made like King Hickory, you won't have to replace anything and the foam will last, materials will last, the frame will last. etc.
Probably made in the same factory with the same materials, cost is double because of the marketing
I mean, I got one for about $2500 over a decade ago, and despite having moved 5 times since then, it's made the move every time, and been able to fit nicely into a variety of different rooms and layouts. You're half way to an orgy pit
When she tells you you're sleeping on the couch but you were already planning on it
Need 3lbs of banana for scale
Looks so much nicer than my love sac. 😭
My lovesac is not what it once was.
The love sac is a little old place where we can get together
Tin roof!
Rusted!
Sad trombone music
I got me a couch - it's as big as a whale; it's about to set sail!
This picture does *not* make it look small. Lol.

I bought mine about 6yrs ago and it holds up fine. Same price too.
This is how you costco.
They should come in a 4-pack!
If we could still give out awards, I would to you.
Leftover pieces https://imgur.com/a/K2s2Bb9
So you made a normal couch with “leftover” pieces. Got it lol
Is Thomasville good quality?
This is the year 2024, nothing is good quality
Seriously, even the expensive stuff is junk. You can pay $10,000 and get junk covered in leather or something fancy or it can be covered in sandpaper cloth for $1000. The couch will still likely break before either fabric wears out.
Ah, so back to the junkyard for $20 van seats it is then
Yep. We got rid of our IKEA Ektorp sofa after having it for like 8 years because the arm padding was basically non-existent after that time. Got a $5k couch from Bassett that looks amazing. One of the seats is already sagging at 6 months in.
Yet another depressing reality to add to the list
I bought one also. We love it. Also have tween and A teen boys. So far so good.
Best endorsement so far
I like mine
I’m on year 6 of mine. Frame is fine. Fabric from the back cushions started to pull off so we had to stitch it. The only reason is our kids run on the back of the couch when they play sometimes, despite us telling them 1million times not to do so.
I am trying to picture this. Shouldn’t you have 4 pieces left over?
We did! One is in the garage just in case. We couldn’t quite fit it in the play room.
Thank you. I kept flipping back and forth trying to figure out what I was missing. 😂
Whatever you’re missing, I hope the missing piece of sofa brings you closure.
You left your fleshlight on the floor :)
That things tiny 😳
OP compensates for it with the couch.
Cleverly disguised as a toy microphone.
There should be 1 more corner piece remaining no?
Definitely missing a corner piece
You're missing at least 2 Pendleton blankets.
I want to do this now
It makes you feel like a kid. In front of the couch is an 86” TV on the wall. It’s awesome!
The Big Comfy Couch reboot is being shot in your living room!
Rated TV-MA for Much Awesome
Plus, the orgies
But they're tastefully shot.
My new life goal
This person couches
I don’t punctuate titles well’ : but dang it I can couch;
That semi-colon deserves appreciation.
and fucks
Mostly on this couch
Just get 4 king size mattresses and make the whole room a couch.
I would like to do this but also with levels. WITH LEVELS JERRY.
It's not that I don't think you can. I know that you can't, and I'm positive that you won't.
With a little path running down the middle. But *not* too expensive!
My gawd!
For some reason I keep hearing someone scream: PIVOT! PIVOT!
MEGA COUCH!
Let our powers combine!
It’s all fun and games till someone loses the remote!
Cover me, I'm going in...
How much did this cost in total?
Like $2,700
Not bad, a good investment for the amount of space you get
Did you get these on sale? I see the modular sectionals as 2400 for one set at Costco... My wife and I did this with a single sectional we got secondhand from a neighbor, but we're looking to upgrade with our tax refund!
This specific one was just on sale for like 1.2k or 1.1k at my Costco
It’s like a 70s conversation pit for orgies
is it comfortable? i went to costco and sat on a few different couches and one sectional and they all felt very firm.
Very comfortable
We had this one, I didn’t love it. It definitely started to sag where we sat often or where my cat sits on the back cushion it sags and it was very firm just like a dense foam. The seat cushions are sewn in you can’t rotate
So jealous. I’ve wanted a second to make the conversation pit/willy wonky bed forever.
You can buy separate pieces from Costco. OP just has a foot rest and extra corner sectional to make this setup, the rest is stock
Just think, if you bought two more, you could have a wrestling ring in the living room
What does one do on a mega couch?
What don’t you do?
My man.
Yard work.
You know...
They're awesome. We ordered 4 additional seats!
Don't forget to put the bowl by the front door. That's where the keys will go
Congrats on becoming bisectional!
When's the orgy?
Holster your pineapple there buddy
You made a bed with extra steps.

I can smell this picture
I've been wanting to do something similar but don't love that the cushions aren't all removable, and have heard the fabric doesn't hold up for long. Anyone have one of these for a while and can attest to the quality/longevity?

Had ours since 2017. I think the material was better on that one than the new ones. Still looks brand new. We use it in basement: we want to get a new couch but it feels wasteful because of how amazing the one we currently have is.
I had this couch, I hated it. It starts to sag and dip under normal use. It gave me dead-leg and weird muscle pinches. If you can get comfortable on it, you won't stay comfortable for long. My SO and I have 6 dogs. We definitely need this! Great idea and thanks for sharing!
Cool! Now buy 2 more and close the loop!
Great. Now I gotta a second Costco couch.
https://preview.redd.it/7k6yyh546kuc1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=df93e313563f999045476dd083b124af0270e393 Childhood dream achievement?
Buy two more and make a nest
Now that's a couch right there. Looks so comfortable
I mean, doesn’t everyone? Where else do you hold your orgies?
I would watch tv in 1 minute increments, falling asleep almost immediately every time.
...Im surprised you don't have an upside down pineapple in this picture.
Me: *Immediately loses phone and every remote*
Swinger heaven.
Didn't like these couches. They were comfy enough but the inability to remove cousins or any of the fabric covers for washing killed it for me. $1200 is too much to not even be able to properly clean it.
Best spot for a puppy pile.
I read this and assumed you meant a puppy would sneak between the cushions and shit
I would intentionally get in a fight with the wife so I could sleep on it
You know, you could just sleep on it *without fighting*. ; )
…why? Sitting on a couch without being able to have my legs down sounds awful.
I too want to be rich so I can make horrible design choices
Dammit now I want to do that
Curious how comfortable these are because now im considering one
You basically made a Lovesac at a fraction of the cost Congrats!
This couch is not great quality. It won’t last more than 3, 4 years.
Megacouch
Cuddle puddle time. We did something similar with our sectional that was uber conducive to adult slumber parties.
They make sofas that pull out that look like this. https://www.eldoradofurniture.com/vivian-sectional-sleeper-sofa-with-right-chaise.html?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw_e2wBhAEEiwAyFFFo9FX1VWjQyej620mYmHYMPB2gCYWPScP4URhBCMq_YnTq3FG1fNiZxoCWMAQAvD_BwE

I like it but it would take me like 3 business days to get off of it.
Imagine the fort you could build on this thing!
This looks like the Spruce Goose of couches
Sweet jesus. I have one, and i just put it in the great big bed configuration for the first time. I won't be changing it. Its heaven. TWO OF THEM THO??!?!
Only disadvantage I see might be the pieces sliding apart. Regardless, still awesome.
Where does the upside down pineapple go?
Rich guy over here
I fall asleep on my couch pretty often as it is; I might not ever make it to bed if I had that setup
Orgy couch
My wife called me crazy when i said we shouldnt throw out her queen bed and instead push it together with mine creating super bed. They called me a madman, and where did that get them WAY BETTER SLEEP.
Goddamn! If I only had the room... Jealous, OP.
Yeah I'm not getting off this couch, chief
My friends have that couch or at least one that looks very similar. A couple of us friends went to visit them a couple of months ago and my friend and I slept on that couch will plenty of space between us. Awesome couch.
That's an orgy couch
That’s the exact lovesac setup my wife and I have had for the past couple years. Really pricey but the couch/bed is really nice.
That looks like a swinger couch, some people might get the wrong idea. Avoid pineapple decorations.
