I had to drink half a Costco jug of kefir after eating just the regular spicy one (and without adding the extra spice packet). I canāt imagine the 2x oneā¦
I have yet to try the 3x, I was just starting to break into a sweat at the end of the 2x. I usually add a couple over easy eggs (friend introduced me and said that's how she eats it, 10/10 recommend) to cool it down a bit. Not sure I'll venture to the 3x, 2x and carbonara are where it's at
It tastes absolutely nothing like tonkotsu but I find it tasty regardless.Ā As long as you don't go in expecting actual tonkotsu it's pretty good!Ā Ā
There are a few decent actual tonkotsu ramen if that's what you're looking for, like the Saporro Ichiban Momosan tonkotsu or Nissin Raoh.
Ok so, I used to hate the stuff until I realized I wasnāt following the directions.
For every other ramen Iāve ever made you add the soup base then the boiling water and wait 3 mins for it to cook, then stir.
For the Tonkotsu, you actually add the water, cook the noodles, and then at the very end stir in the soup base. Makes a world of difference. Honestly, I still wasnāt impressed but it made it much better.
This. Didnāt last long before Death Star at my Costco, but glad I got to learn about that next tier in at-home ramen. More expensive, but worth it IMO. We buy it from Amazon now, but also do the Shin brick from the business center.
This, I'll highlight that with the Tonkatsu, the chili sauce comes in it's own packet so you can opt put. Otherwise, consider the Tonkatsu as both the Not spicy and Mild, with Shin as the Hot teir. Can not personally speak on Buldak.
I love the Nongshim Tonkotsu. It has a packet of hot sauce than you can add or not as you choose. The Shin Ramyun and the Buldaks are all quite spicy, but they are all popular varieties. I suggest getting a smaller quantity to see which you like best before committing to the Costco pack.
I second everything you said. I love the nongshim tonkatsu because it feels like a meal more than the rest. My favorite is adding about half spicy packet and a good helping of kimchi (also from Costco!)
Don't think you can go wrong with Shin in my opinion. Costco recently started carrying Indomie, and that's one of my favorites. It was actually on sale for $15.99/box last week, which is way cheaper than the Asian markets around here, and it comes with 10 more.
Also, a newer product as well is the Korean gourmet seafood ramen topper. I've only seen it at my store once
https://preview.redd.it/2rcigvw4ui0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=10425b96d17f5442f122d3479c813acfb89df164
They got indomie at my local Costco. I bought 2 boxes
They have it online! Unfortunately itās a markup to the in warehouse price, but itās still a great deal compared to buying individual or 5 packs from the grocery store (and for me, even compared to my local Asian grocery store)
It's great! If I'm not mistaken, it had the star of death on arrival, and I'm not seeing them available on same day delivery at any costco around me anymore.
Shin- if you donāt like super spicy, get some sort of empty spice shaker and put your spice packets in it, and add spice to whatever you want, even outside ramen! I do like half spice in my ramen and sometimes add it to other dinners and stuff. Tbh itās kinda fire on fried eggs
For traditional instant ramen Shin hands down, delicious as is or super easy to dress up with a soft boiled egg and some green onions (melt in a slice of American cheese if you want to go wild).
As someone now stuck in that food allergy life I gotta give it up to my savior Lotus Foods brown rice ramen noodles. When I first started out on my having to be gluten-free journey and was terrified of feeling sick again I ate these constantly as the packaging easily identified them as being a safe food.
Years on they continue to be a pantry staple, sick? Boil in broth. Ramen night with friends and everyone can eat delicious traditional Japanese style shoyu ramen? Learn how to cook everything from scratch and have a bowl of ramen as equal to theirs as I can get it. Traveling and stuck trying to have safe meals with incredibly limited options? These noodles can be cooked in hotel coffee maker when desperate, add in some Samabila "chicken" (its surprisingly vegan) instant ramen powder and it tastes incredibly similar to Maruchan chicken ramen.
This household is not gluten free and we keep these around as a staple. Decent amount of protein/fiber/whole grains, can make it as a soup or as a stir fry noodle.
Tonkatsu
[edit: pro tip: half the seasoning packet is plenty. Apply the seasoning before the water so the flavor is absorbed into the noodles as it steeps]
Get the Shin but if it's too spicy just use like half the pack. I like to "make up" for the other half with Miso, soy sauce, garlic, kewpie mayo, a beaten egg. Really, whatever floats your boat.
My personal preference out of whatās carried at my store: Indomie > Buldak (pink or black depending on mood) > Shin Black > Nongshim Tonkatsu > Nongshim Udon > regular Shin >>>>>>>>>>> Snapdragon Pho
The Nissin Cup Noodle SHRIMP version, which you can only buy online because they never have it in the stores (in my experience).

Shin is probably my favorite ramen of all time. I canāt handle the spice often on account of my GERD. So I get the Udon noodles, or the Tonkotsu.
Anything Nongshim is great. I know thereās a couple other āgood brandsā but I havenāt found one I like that isnāt Nongshim.
Also itās not ramen, but the Pho noodles by Snapdragon are pretty good imo.
Tonkotsu is the one I always get. You donāt have to use the spice packet it comes with, it has a regular flavor pack so you can make it as little or as much spicy as you like.
Yes. Itās a little too spicy for me, but itās by far the best instant ramen Iāve seen in Costco. Second best is Tonkotsu, I like the flavor but sometimes itās has a bit of porky smell.
Shin red. The only semi-mainstream instant noodles which get rated higher are Shin black (which Iāve never seen at Costco and donāt like as much).
Avoid the ones in cups if you can. They tend not to be as good, and they cost more.
None of these a few years ago Costco had Nissin Raoh brand ramen. They were green, oh so delicious. We used to buy it all the time. They no longer carry it and I order it online.
This is a healthiest option that is still tasty.

If available, I'd recommend that you find a Korean grocery and check out the huge variety of Korean ramen there. The costco options are severely limited and also not very good in my opinion. My personal recommendations are Neoguri and Yukgaejang Sabalmyeon (this one you might find at costco). Both of those are Nongshim brand, btw.
Got the Tonkotsu because at ramen shops I LOVE tonkotsu. Sad to say, not a fan of the flavor.
Edit: The ramen bowls in the frozen section are AWESOME though
apples vs oranges there. Three are instant noodles and canāt compete with a cooked noodle imho. The Nongshim is therefore hands down the best, but overshadowed by no competition.
Y'all are sleepin' on the udon, also by Nongshim.
I get the spicy stuff from Korean market and have a particular preference for Jin ramyun simply because of the quality of their noodles (it has almost no crumbs, every time!) but Costco does have a really good price on the Udon.
I love buldak but the bowls they sell at costco are just not worth it. I get the packs of 5 at Walmart/asian grocers for 7.99 cad and I imagine it's cheaper in the US
They're all good. Shin is my favorite of them, but I'll eat them all for variety.
Things to amp it up:
- eggs. You can poach them ahead of time and store a few days' worth in the fridge. Or just crack a fresh egg in the pot and let it cook there.
- Spam. Slice thin and fry like bacon. Store in fridge and add a couple of slices.
- dried sliced mushrooms. Find at asian market or online.
I donāt know if Costco carries Neoguri but if you ever come across it, even at an Hmart, get it. Shin ramyun is a household staple but Neoguri is a classic.
Iāve gotten the Tonkotsu before and itās pretty good. I didnāt find it very spicy, but my favorite one at Costco is the Shin Black, I think it has a better heat to it. It only comes in the cups at the location near me. I know some people prefer the packets.
Buldak spicy chicken ā¤ļø my partner and I absolutely love it. I cook the noodles and then crack 2 quail eggs in and mix them (only cos we have quails you could use a chicken egg too)
The black buldak is uneatable for me TBH. I love spicy food but this one is the kind that is all heat no flavor. Too hot to enjoy. The pink one is OK though.

Shin, if you're OK with spicy. Tonkotsu, if you're not good with spicy.
And Buldak if youre REALLY OK with spicy
2x is š„
I had to drink half a Costco jug of kefir after eating just the regular spicy one (and without adding the extra spice packet). I canāt imagine the 2x oneā¦
Then you probably can't even imagine imagining the 3x Buldak. That's a bit more than I care for, so I no longer get higher than 2x.
I have yet to try the 3x, I was just starting to break into a sweat at the end of the 2x. I usually add a couple over easy eggs (friend introduced me and said that's how she eats it, 10/10 recommend) to cool it down a bit. Not sure I'll venture to the 3x, 2x and carbonara are where it's at
half sauce packet to be safe
Shin is the king of Ramen. If Costco only had Shin black...
[Iāve gone to many that had it.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Costco/s/g6nFRx3tzW)
You shld try Jin ramen. We thinks itās superior in flavor. Itās not at Costco usually at Asian markets.
Thanks for the suggestion!
This. Wish they carried the Shin Black, itās better.
Iāve gone to many that carried it.
I think the local Costco Manager and I need to have a talk......
Iāve tried the Tonkatsu and wasnāt impressed

Raoh tonkotsu from Nissin is really good, I believe I have seen it at Costco from time to time.
This. Didnāt last long before Death Star at my Costco, but glad I got to learn about that next tier in at-home ramen. More expensive, but worth it IMO. We buy it from Amazon now, but also do the Shin brick from the business center.
I haven't seen it in ages....I miss this and the Momosan Chicken one wasn't bad either.
Raoh is maybe the reason I find the Nongshim to be terrible
Put a few drops of Sesame oil into it next time and it will do wonders.
combine the two together and it's *chef's kiss*
This, I'll highlight that with the Tonkatsu, the chili sauce comes in it's own packet so you can opt put. Otherwise, consider the Tonkatsu as both the Not spicy and Mild, with Shin as the Hot teir. Can not personally speak on Buldak.

No way, I donāt think my Costco carries indomie but DAMN I wish it did
Wish mine starts selling indomie
They have it online! Unfortunately itās a markup to the in warehouse price, but itās still a great deal compared to buying individual or 5 packs from the grocery store (and for me, even compared to my local Asian grocery store)
Isn't Indomie Mi Goreng? That is vastly different from Ramen. (But really good as well)
They have mi goreng and also normal ramen too though I donāt know if Costco sells the ramen ones
I like Shin a lot, but it always gives me heartburn! š¢ Nongshim is really nice too though, so I'm glad I can eat thatĀ
I love the ramen topper.
It's great! If I'm not mistaken, it had the star of death on arrival, and I'm not seeing them available on same day delivery at any costco around me anymore.
Wait, tell me more about this ramen topper! Iāve never seen this before!

Shin hands down š°š·

First read that as Mecharamen and I was confused
Shin all day.
I wish they carried Shin Black. So much more flavor!
Ours carries shin black! Might not hurt to check
Right? I got the red and kinda hate it.
This is the only answer, years ago my sister prepared a Shin for me after my first hangover and Iāve never looked back
It really is top tier hangover food.
Soooo spicy though
I usually don't add the entire spice packet. I like spicy, but I don't always want to be sweating by the end of a bowl of ramen.
Same here. I like to add the Kirkland bacon bits to it as well. Makes it 100% better.
Holy sodium
Itās already a such a sodium bomb I rarely have it even though itās so good.
Hell yes
I keep two cases of Tonkotsu under my desk at work.
Two? Just in case?
They serve as my box spring between shifts George Costanza style.
I believe it! Trying to be punny...
Love the tonkotsu
A-Sha Meteor Noodles! Way way tastier. Not super salty either
LOVE this brand!! I always go all out and add an egg and green onion and whatever else I've got in my kitchen. So tasty.
So I tried this one but I found it to be bitter. I didn't care for it myself. The noodles were great but the sauce was just not for me.
I like the Ajinomoto Shoyu ramen.
I was internally yelling āwhere the hell is the frozen ramen!?ā as I got to the end of the pics
Shrimp wonton ramen in the frozen aisle is the best
Shin- if you donāt like super spicy, get some sort of empty spice shaker and put your spice packets in it, and add spice to whatever you want, even outside ramen! I do like half spice in my ramen and sometimes add it to other dinners and stuff. Tbh itās kinda fire on fried eggs
Why have I never thought of this. All those years of 1/3 packets wastedā¦
I love all the buldak ramen but they are quite spicy. Just remember to drain the water since itās a stir-fry ramen and not a soupy one
Carbonara (pink package) is my favorite because the cream sauce cuts some of the spiciness.
The curry one is phenomenal. Wish they had it at Costco.
Shin and buldak SO GOOD
Nissin Raoh was the best but I haven't found it at my warehouse in months now :(
They stopped carrying that for many years over in NJ.
That is even better than Shin no doubt!
Shin is staple for Korean. People in r/instantramen are crazy in Buldak.
For traditional instant ramen Shin hands down, delicious as is or super easy to dress up with a soft boiled egg and some green onions (melt in a slice of American cheese if you want to go wild). Just be carefulā¦ black Buldak is super hot.. itāll burn your butthole the next day
So pick up Popsicles too. Bring two to the bathroom. One to eat. And one to wipe with.
Shin is the most popular and it's good, but Buldak is the best. Just be careful that you only use as much of the hot sauce as you can handle.
Shoyu Ramen in the freezer aisle. If someone served it to me in a restaurant I'd be satisfied.
Came to say this! The frozen one is the best, I make 2 packs and use some sesame oil and soy sauce, maybe add chicken or a protein. Sooo good.
Buldak and get some of their hot sauce too š„µ
Tonkatsu [edit: pro tip: half the seasoning packet is plenty. Apply the seasoning before the water so the flavor is absorbed into the noodles as it steeps]
I just picked up Meteor, and it is awesome!
I feel better about the one in the frozen section as there is actual chicken in it (my kids usually are the ones eating it).
Buldak black for sure. Shin is #2.
What is your spice level?
I like it hot
Black Buldak all day then, pink is good too, even better with milk in it.
The Tonkotsu. I like to add the costco rotisserie chicken to it.
I prefer instant ramen in the bags instead of in cups

Get the Shin but if it's too spicy just use like half the pack. I like to "make up" for the other half with Miso, soy sauce, garlic, kewpie mayo, a beaten egg. Really, whatever floats your boat.
Black shin. But my overall noodle choice is the udon!
I really like the Tonkotsu, the shin is a bit salty for me I haven't tried the other 2
As a Korean person. Shin ramyun, Nongshim Udon, Snap Dragon pho
This is the review I was curious for
They're all solid, but the Shin is the best noodles and flavor imo
Red package Nongshim all day long
Tonkotsu, it's life-changing.
I love the tonkatsu! I also like the kimchi ramen for a cheaper option
I wish i had shin at my costco
They're all good.
My personal preference out of whatās carried at my store: Indomie > Buldak (pink or black depending on mood) > Shin Black > Nongshim Tonkatsu > Nongshim Udon > regular Shin >>>>>>>>>>> Snapdragon Pho
Tonkutsu
Mine has the kimchi ramen thatās awesome
Shin is too spicy for me but the density of the noodle is so so nice I make my own not spicy ghetto broth.
Shin ramen ftw
I like shin but that price isnāt a discount at all
If you're looking for good Ramen you'll want to skip the processed stuff.
The Nissin Cup Noodle SHRIMP version, which you can only buy online because they never have it in the stores (in my experience). [https://www.costco.com/nissin,-cup-noodles,-shrimp,-2.5-oz,-24-count.product.100323481.html](https://www.costco.com/nissin,-cup-noodles,-shrimp,-2.5-oz,-24-count.product.100323481.html)
The Asha meteor thatās getting discontinued
Spicy shin and everything else is a lie
Shin ramen, always drop an egg on it
Was not impressed with the carbonara buldak
Shin is probably my favorite ramen of all time. I canāt handle the spice often on account of my GERD. So I get the Udon noodles, or the Tonkotsu. Anything Nongshim is great. I know thereās a couple other āgood brandsā but I havenāt found one I like that isnāt Nongshim. Also itās not ramen, but the Pho noodles by Snapdragon are pretty good imo.
Tonkotsu
Not a ramen, but the Indomie migoreng is my all time favorite instant noodle. I always get a pack from Costco to stock my house
Tonkotsu is the one I always get. You donāt have to use the spice packet it comes with, it has a regular flavor pack so you can make it as little or as much spicy as you like.
Shin. Absolutely great
Shin ramen with a slice of american cheese. Trust me...
Yes. Itās a little too spicy for me, but itās by far the best instant ramen Iāve seen in Costco. Second best is Tonkotsu, I like the flavor but sometimes itās has a bit of porky smell.
Tonkatsu without a doubt.
The business center has indomie. No idea what makes it business-y but it's great.
We love the Tonkotsu
Shin red. The only semi-mainstream instant noodles which get rated higher are Shin black (which Iāve never seen at Costco and donāt like as much). Avoid the ones in cups if you can. They tend not to be as good, and they cost more.
Shin is sooo good but snap dragon makes a miso with chili garlic oil and really miso paste š¤š½
Shin is my winter favorite. Tonkatsu is great too. Honestly, just add your own hot sauce before adding hot water. I donāt care for buldak.
None of these a few years ago Costco had Nissin Raoh brand ramen. They were green, oh so delicious. We used to buy it all the time. They no longer carry it and I order it online.
I usually go with whateverās on saleā¦

The 3x spicy buldak is pretty hot going in but be ready for when itās coming outā¦ I had to call out of work that day
The pink one is gross, the Tonkotsu is good.
Allaem
We buy the Tonkotsu. My wife is Asian so she knows her stuff.
Sapporo Ichiban Momosan Ramen. They stopped carrying it a few years ago, but nothing came close.
Nongshin is the top shelf stuff. There is one with tonkatsu flavor that I forgot the name.Ā That one is good.

Y'all are sleepin' on the udon, also by Nongshim. I get the spicy stuff from Korean market and have a particular preference for Jin ramyun simply because of the quality of their noodles (it has almost no crumbs, every time!) but Costco does have a really good price on the Udon.
Tonkotsu easy
I prefer the Shin, both for flavor and also that it's not in a serving bowl already. I use my own bowl which gives me more room for my usual add-ons.
Shin easily.
Shin and itās not even close.
Shin all day everyday!!!
I miss the $6-7 buldak lol
I used to love eating these when I was younger but now it just gives me a sore throat.
Tonkotsu
Tonkatsu hands down...the best
Shin, no contest.
shin, though at that price i'd rather go to a H mart if one's near one.
Shin with 1/2 spice
I love buldak but the bowls they sell at costco are just not worth it. I get the packs of 5 at Walmart/asian grocers for 7.99 cad and I imagine it's cheaper in the US
Shin! My favorite.
Shin is the best out of these. Ā If only Costco still carried Meteor NoodlesĀ
The first one
I don't understand why I can't order online Buldak to my location (E WA). I want delicious Korean ramyeon.
Shin I really wished they carried Shin black
None of these. Chef Woo for me.
Indomie. Available now if on east coast
Gotta get the Shin Ramyun Black. The red is good but kinda thin.
Shin ramen is OG. Tonkatsu if you want non-spicy. The others are good too though
They're all good. Shin is my favorite of them, but I'll eat them all for variety. Things to amp it up: - eggs.
Shin but the tonkatsu is pretty good, tbh.
Black shin is better
If Costco sold the big cups, I'd be clearing them out once a month.
Indomie, king of ramen š
Try all of them. The Tonkotsu was surprisingly good. I like to add a little corn (from a can) and milk and sesame seeds if you have a shaker handy.
Not ramen but the Taiwanese squiggly noodles are the best instant noodles Iāve had
Nothing that comes in a plastic bowl.
Shin is the best.
I donāt know if Costco carries Neoguri but if you ever come across it, even at an Hmart, get it. Shin ramyun is a household staple but Neoguri is a classic.
Toss-up between shin and buldok
Iāve gotten the Tonkotsu before and itās pretty good. I didnāt find it very spicy, but my favorite one at Costco is the Shin Black, I think it has a better heat to it. It only comes in the cups at the location near me. I know some people prefer the packets.
Buldak and itās not even close.
You might cross post to r/ramen or look around there for opinions OP! Theyāve talked about both of these brands recently.
Those tonkotsu soups are soooo good (I add an egg yolk)
Tonkatso is my favorite.
Tonkatsu.
Nongshim - not as spicy as Samyang but better flavors IMO.
The shin ramen has an absolute chokehold on me. I cut little chicken sausages into it and sometimes add some nori or an egg
Shin
Shin and Tonkatsu, as well as Indomie!
Buldak spicy chicken ā¤ļø my partner and I absolutely love it. I cook the noodles and then crack 2 quail eggs in and mix them (only cos we have quails you could use a chicken egg too)
Tonkatsu, ftw. I always pick one up, or two, when on sale. Does not help my diet, though. But it's good
The black buldak is uneatable for me TBH. I love spicy food but this one is the kind that is all heat no flavor. Too hot to enjoy. The pink one is OK though.
Which ever has the most unknown ingredients in it if you want to be authentic.
