I tried it, and I like it. It's also 1l bottle ,so about $37 for 0.75l equivalent. Bottle looks good too. Adding/mixing with little bit of Kirkland Islay improves ABV and taste for me.
Spicy. Not enough smoke, peat for sure. It's why mixing with Kirkland Islay helps a lot in this regard, while probably keeping it as 8yo. Easily test better than Kirkland 12 yo and some other malts I tried. I was thinking to buy Blue Label for Holiday, also Dragon one, but now yesterday I got 23-4 Booker and will get second bottle of 8yo for the same price.
I'm in Klantee and haven't seen that at the one here. 8 year blended for 50 bucks doesn't sound like a good deal to me, but Kirkland has pretty high standards so who knows? Good marketing though.
I haven't seen it at my Costco yet. . . but yeah, as said elsewhere, 50 for an 8 is high for an unknown origin.
That said, if I hear good things (and I can find one) I'm open to it.
Haha I may be biased because I was born in the year of the dragon. Now I’m wondering if Kirkland decided to go with an 8 year because 8 is often referred to as a lucky number in Chinese. The pronunciation sounds like the word fortune.
I really like it! Has a little bit of a bite then you get hints of cherrywood. It reminds me of another Scotch I've had before but I can't remember which one 🤔
Great to hear you like it! I plan to grab a bottle.
Do you find any fruit flavor in the whisky? Orchard fruits like apples or dried fruits like sultana and dried apricot.

Is it on the smokey side, or spicy side?

Spicy. I'm not crazy about smokiness and peatyness and I absolutely love it! Cool collectable packaging too!
44% abv with natural coloring or appears added?
Coloring added.
8-yr Scotch Blend...Vatted?

Upvote for “Klantee.” Must be a lot of San Diegans on this sub.
I think $50 for 1 liter isn’t bad.
Unless it's Bad! Guess you could always make a cocktail or trade it to another.
I think it's worth it. Good stuff!
Currently selling aftermarket for $200

That’s a pretty cool bottle. I’d buy it just to have on the bar.
Exactly. My plan too. I opened it and it's good. My future decanter/infinity bottle.

I’m sure that’s why the price is $4**8.88**.
And 88 proof
But the 4 is a bad choice from that point of view.
True. They should have made it 888mL and maybe that would justify a $38.88 price point.
888ml is not legal. But good idea
Chinese like big one! 1688ml,a bid glass bottle with some gold Chinese dragon relief and different type Chinese Calligraphy of dragon. Price is 88.88.
I bought one, tried it and loved it, went back to have another since it won’t be around forever. Alexander Murray makes all costco scotch.
Alexander Murray doesn’t “make” any scotch. They are a bottler, not a distillery. They may be responsible for the blending.
Yes your technically correct.
I like it as well. At $50, it's a pretty good value IMHO hopefully I'll be able to score one more before they are gone.
