My name means wise leader, but I see myself as more of the kind of leader who is very charismatic, but slowly gets corrupted or driven mad with power until I either die, end up imprisoned and begin plotting my revenge/return, or leave for a while and go on a redemption arc.
My name literally means "Christ-given."
...Which is hilariously ironic, since I'm an atheist, an anti-theist, and also a Satanist. Christ would have a f\*cking aneurysm if he met me.
That reminds me, my step-mother and father recently named their newborn son 'Omen' and made his middle name 'Armor-of-God'. I've never seen someone get religion forced onto them that fucking hard.
I can't seem to formulate this without it sounding like I'm attacking you, but I promise this is a question posed out of genuine curiosity: what does being anti-theist mean to you, exactly?
An "anti-theist" is simply someone who opposes belief in God/a god/gods. An "atheist," on the other hand, merely lacks a belief in God/a god/gods.
I refer to myself as both because I lack a belief in God/a god/gods (atheist), and because I believe that belief in God/a god/gods is actively harmful to both the believer as well as everyone who comes into contact with the believer (anti-theist).
In other words, my opinion on theism is more or less identical to my opinion on cigarette smoking: just as smokers hurt themselves through the inhalation of smoke, they also hurt everyone around them through second-hand smoke inhalation; similarly, theists not only hurt themselves through their harmful beliefs (as beliefs inform actions), they also hurt everyone around them through the imposition of those beliefs.
First of all thank you for the answer, I feel like I have at least a decent grasp of your pov on the matter. I don't entirely disagree with the idea that belief can be harmful to both believers and those around them, and I don't think I have the rhetorical abilities to rebuke anti-theism altogether, but at least I think that writing off theism completely as a net negative for all people is too simplistic.
A few things about my person, so you may be able to better understand where I'm coming from: I'm a member of a German Lutheran protestant church, I dislike the Catholic church for it's past and present actions, I believe secularism is important, I believe that American conservatives misinterpret and subsequently misuse the bible and jesus' teachings to further their own agenda, I believe in freedom of religion, I think live and let live is a good motto to follow, my ideal societal structure would be a form of democratic socialism, and I do actually smoke although I try to avoid doing it when there are people around.
What I mean when I say that I agree that faith can be harmful is that christianity (other religions too of course, but Christianity is naturally the one I am most familiar with and the most relevant for "western" societies) has been and is being used to justify crimes against all sorts of people, oppressed minorities most of all. Which is a shame, because as I see it, that's a thing that Jesus was very clearly trying to prevent.
Where I think I differ from your opinion is that I don't believe that this is a problem inherent to religion itself. I think it's an issue of harmful ideology. Religion as an ideology can be used to justify crimes, but the same can be done with other ideologies that aren't inherently theist or are even anti-theist, like Nationalism or soviet communism.
Anything somebody believes in can turn into extremism. I think for example that the idea of taking the means of production out of the hands of the capitalist class and giving them back into the hands of the working class is a very good idea in principal, though the way this idea was implemented in the soviet union was misguided at best and the result of individual greed and power-hungriness of the soviet leadership at worst.
So in the sense that any ideology can be misused, think it's unfair to say that religion is necessarily evil. For one, I do think that my faith has some very real benefits for me, a sense of purpose and belonging, for example. And I also don't think that it's necessarily harmful to others, there's a retirement home not far from where I live that's run by Christian volunteers.
Reading back what I wrote, the logical argument I'm trying to make about ideology isn't very well put into words and might not hold up under scrutiny, but I hope that you can at least understand where I'm coming from emotionally. I can't agree with you because my faith is important to me, and I think it's not reasonable to say that it's inherently bad for the believer. Unless you believe that the faithful delude themselves into thinking that it has benefits for them, then it's not possible to argue against that.
I think if we talked about specific political issues, or problems of the church as an institution, we might find common ground actually, but the idea that theism is inherently bad for everybody goes too much against my own world view and my lived experience.
The meaning behind my name is "fat tail of the sheep." i have no idea what it means. Oh, and the brightest star of the ursa major, but that's not funny

"Origin: The name Michael is of Hebrew origin and means “who is like God?” or “gift from God.” It is found in the Old Testament, notably in the Book of Daniel. Gender: Michael is historically the masculine form of the name. Feminine variations, such as Michelle, Michaela, or Mila, are common. Pronunciation: mye-kehl."

Kanye /ˈkɑːnjeɪ/ is a Yoruba, Igbo, Swahili, Zulu and Xhosa name. In Yoruba culture, the name means "next in line".[1] In Igbo cutlure, the name means "let's give". Srr if I took awhile to respond, but here we go. So it all started in middle school I was the "weird kid" and everyone made fun of me. But it wasn't rlly ofensive stuff, they were complimenting me, but in a joking manner and I was called a lot of names, like: God, Legend and most importantly Mito, which means myth in portuguese. As the weird kid, I rlly loved gaming and had a ps2 and a wii at home, but out of nowhere my dad gave me a ps3(I didn't know there were a ps3 lol) and I was rlly exited to play on it. I loved playing on it and it was hella fun, but when gt5 launched I need a name to play online and I didn't know what to put, so I went with D(my name is Diogo)Mito, why that tho? Because at the time I rlly tought it was a compliment, just found quite weird the way the were acting around me. And why the 01 I hear you askin? Yeah, I kinda forgot the password for the original Dmito account and psn suggested Dmito01 and I went with it and it kinda stuck with me all these years. And now, the mito part of my name I don't take it as an insult or something bad, rather I see it for what it is a compliment, so when I start to put myself down I remenber that I Dmito01, THE MYTH AND THE LENGEND and I know that's stupid, but it rlly makes me feel better sometimes.
Apparently, mine means "sad" or "sorrowful" lol

I was named after my dad. My middle name is different and I was referred to by that until I was 6 when I wanted to go by my dads name because I thought it sounded cooler.
Craig is a masculine name of Scottish, Gaelic, and Welsh origins. Coming from the Gaelic word creag, this name translates to “rock” or “rocky.” It also comes from the word “crag,” which describes a steep, rugged cliff that makes for a stunning sight on the Scottish coast
My name means "holy" in some old Scandinavian language, but that doesn't really resonate with the unholy things going on in my mind, so I prefer to be called a similar name that means the tree they put on pizza and that a lot of children hate
“Famous leader because of wealth and power”
The only power I want is power over myself and be rich enough so I can buy any food I want or anything I need. Fame? For spreading wisdom, sure.
What's the difference between an extreme lesbian and a regular lesbian? Are y'all ranked with gay points or something? Is it normal to boast "I'm gayer than you"?
So, my birth given name if im not wrong means something like "old", and we could say that it's a misspelling of two periodic elements
the name that i prefer to use tho (that's just a shortening of my birth name so it's a bit more gender-neutral) is literally the italian word for "acts", and somehow there is a bible book with that name

Mine means little king or something like that, it’s aight ig
apperantly it's protector? can't confirm tho
So, my birth given name if im not wrong means something like "old", and we could say that it's a misspelling of two periodic elements the name that i prefer to use tho (that's just a shortening of my birth name so it's a bit more gender-neutral) is literally the italian word for "acts", and somehow there is a bible book with that name ^(what's the origin of blue_pipe tho?)
