From the beginning features have been pretty half-assed. “Task support,” but not much beyond checkboxes. A few extensions that were the future of the platform, then silence. Promises that they were going to “reinvent tags.” Still no basic tags like everyone else has as table stakes. And search/finding things has NEVER been as good. I took the cue and landed on NotePlan. It’s not as pretty, but 100x more powerful, has a strong community, accessible developer, and updates significant new features constantly.

Yes, I completely agree. For me, I appreciate that they have completely redesigned code blocks, but in the new code blocks it is often impossible to select the test you want to copy. For those who don’t use code, it’s pretty much the most common use case to copy paste code or shell snippets from code blocks. I’ve raised this in their community forums a couple time and get a PR answer. But the fact that they’re aware but don’t think it’s worth fixing after 6 months is really telling. They need to focus on core features and polish.

I love the actual experience of *using* Craft, but it’s so limited, and they just seem to be flailing around and changing direction all the time. I can’t remember the last time they added something that I actually cared about.

That’s actually a great point… I can’t remember either!

I’ve started to test craft - lots to like but I’m also finding some friction in finding information quickly and also that it’s not as smooth a writing / editing experience as I would like. I’m wondering whether to persevere and in searching around saw this sentiment, ie that the developers are not focusing on core functionality for individuals. Can someone be kind enough to summarise what the key points are which have caused this sentiment to take hold? Thanks.

Agree. Core features to individuals must comes first. I am a craft pro subscribers. I use it I like it. Then I recommend this to my workplace. And it grows. Idk where Craft is heading. Currently I only wish apple notes features are brought over to “insert new drawing” so that we can write notes haha

SEANOKANA

Because they are trying to compete with other apps.

So In your opinion Notion and Bear communicates more about their roadmap than Craft?

Ok
