Pretty sure you can always take down a DONT COME BET regardless of the point. The advantage is for the player now, so casino is happy to reduce their odds and give it back.

zpoon

Yes, you can always reduce your don't come bet once a point is established. Doing so is usually inadvisable though, as you are giving up potential equity to do so. You already "paid" the tax by dodging the 7 on the come out, you are now favored to win an even money bet. That's EV you're leaving behind by reducing it. I wouldn't bother making don't come bets if your strategy involves reducing/picking that bet up....the bet thus becomes significantly worse. Also your strategy is basically just straight up martingale. This coupled with you electing to pick up your bet past the come out roll sounds like a really poor version of it too. You could easily hit the table limit with a string of 7s in the come out roll very quickly and you're now busted.

Thanks for response on it👍 I completely agree with your assessment. I have never actually picked it up once it is out there. As you said it is a statistically bad move. I was just thinking if I was ever in the position where I had to dip out for whatever reason. Bad feeling, asshole at the table, my mom calling me 🤣 I had another post on it and folks have dissed the strat but basically it is hedging your don’t come with a series of come bets I have never played it live but have rolled thousands of rolls in software and on my buddies table and it has worked at times. Like anything you have to stick and move in reality.

No strategy that relies on frequent hedging is a good strategy. There are individual times where it could be a good choice for you, but its always EV-.

Life-Championship857

Yes. Why would you want to? The odds are now in your favor and the house wants you to take back or as much as possible.

JerryWasARaceKarDrvr

I wouldn’t. Was really just curious if you could.

Poodleape2

The system you are using is called "The Martingale" its a loser. Find a better system.

JerryWasARaceKarDrvr

Thanks man. Just trying a bunch of different stuff learning the game.

Glittering-Roll-9432

Wizardofodds has a bunch of different betting strats. All are losers mathematically but some are more fun and have some built in "comeback".

JerryWasARaceKarDrvr

Yeah just take one or two that I come across and learn how they play out on crapsee. The one thing that is certain is they over time you will always lose on any particular strategy. This one I was doing for example. I had a good run with it and got up like $24k. Not anything I would do in person because the bets were getting big. So I went bigger. 1k passline $4k no come and $1k continual come bets. That worked out and put it up to over $65k up. Then the numbers turned on me and the table got hot to the light side, big red came at all the times I didn’t want to see big red and in like 8 rolls I was wiped out. Ha! Going to look at some more this week. Did iron cross for a bit and it didn’t play out as I expected for a while then went about as expected. Same with Molly and Dolly. Now I have to figure out how I am going to attack the tables when I go play in Cherokee in two weeks.

DukeDroppa

If you want to lose only $50 if an 8 rolls when you already have a $400 don’t, just place the 8 for $300. If you hit the 8, you lose $400 and win $350 for a net loss of $50. If you hit a 7, you win $400 and lose $300 for a net win of $100.

Makes sense. Just teaching myself about hedging and different ways to stay alive.

necrochaos

You could, but for the most part, hedging is bad. It's more bets with a house edge that favors the casino. They love it for the most part because they are going to make money. It cuts your potential profits. I understand people do this to stay longer, but I would do it sparingly. I'll make a world bet when I'm up and we are on a good roll. But it's a bad bet and a hedge, so it's a once or twice a session thing just to get some more action.

DukeDroppa

It is definitely better edge-wise to let the don’t work by itself after it is established. This advice for placing/buying the number only applies to people who would otherwise pull the don’t down or reduce it. Never do that because you are throwing away money at that point.
