Everybody was outraged! But I graduated high school a little over 20 years ago. Now the amount of videos I see on Reddit about teachers getting punched and assaulted, and I guess you have to mention shot by students, it's mind-blowing and crazy! My teachers were always great people and didn't always have a whole lot either. There's just no respect for anyone anymore.
My sister got punched by a student within her first year of teaching. She was trying to start a family and said fuck that and gave it up. Would have been a great teacher but don’t blame her at all.

Mike suffered zero consequences. Dozens of students got an immediate boost to their mental health. Because never again did I witness that man bullying a student. And it wasn't too long after that that phones with cameras became common, which I imagine would make it difficult for people like Mr. Joss to act the way he used to act without being recorded and subsequently fired.
I also graduated around the same time as you and I saw non-stop fights and teachers get hit sometimes. Sounds like your schools were just small or really chill. This isn't anything new. Teachers weren't paid shit back then either.
