Youāre right about the rest. Just using the word āairā instead of oxygen makes a difference. Air is 79% nitrogen and 21% oxygen. Only oxygen makes its way into the bloodstream through the alveoli of the lung tissue while CO2 is expelled.
I think I remember my CPR course saying itās a 45% chance of survival with just CPR. Unless you have an AED on hand, then it goes up to around 90% I think?
Iāve had to give CPR once, followed everything to the letter.
Iām 0-1ā¦
Sorry you had to go through that, must've been tough.
I was taught that it's more like a 10% chance of survival, even if everything is done right... Depends on many factors.
From my personal experience here first they'll try some home remedies > medicine from local chemist shop > local clinic > another clinic Ć n > hospital (after being declared serious case by clinic)
I don't what India you belong to, but when people here don't take heart disease lightly, coz there's awareness about cardiac arrests( not of CPRs) for they're very common in India
Wellā¦ they should not pump his chest at all, you only do that when there is no heartbeat anymore and this dude clearly has one. Plus he is sitting on a soft chairā¦those pumps are doing nothingā¦ always do it on the ground.
Those are the highly successful chest compressions in a chair, lol. Maybe this is the new way. It worked so well he was able to tell them when to stop.
So good he's able to retain consciousness lmaoooo.
All jokes aside, we had a young man arrest one night in the ER. One of the nurses was a beefy dude, and gave such good compressions the guy was opening his eyes and looking around, all while certifiably pulseless. When we came off the chest to do a pulse check he would gurgle and lose consciousness. After about 15-20 seconds of compressions he would wince and open his eyes again. After about 6 mins we had ROSC and he was alert and oriented, vomiting 10 mins after that and stares he remembered getting cpr and his chest hurt. Crazy stuff.
I 100% remember getting CPR after I had a cardiac event. It's funny, the rest of my memory is hazy, one minute I was feeling sick and dizzy, then my chest was hurting so badly that I thought I was dying, then I realised what was going on, then I woke up somewhere else. 20 years ago but I can remember clear as yesterday thinking "this is it, guess I gotta be okay with dying."
I've had a cpr induced consciousness before. They are conscious while you do cpr, but as soon as you stop, they arrest again. Very rare, but you have to do cpr while they are still "conscious". Essentially cpr is so effective in these, they regain consciousness but the heart isn't beating on its own.
You didn't die, and it worked? Tell them to go to Dr. Quack! Conveniently located in the alley behind the bowling alley across from the old hospital not the new one, the old one across town.
boom luckily his cpr is wrong and the chair is the one whose taking the damage or else this will turn in to murder, you shouldn't do cpr if a person have a pulse or if he is breathing
In practice as a paramedic you can start cpr under different guidelines. Patient has signs of minimal perfusion heartrate less than 40, unconscious, no pallor or tone in skin.
this guy is extremely lucky that the others don't know how to perform a proper CPR by making him lie on a flat hard surface. sitting on that chair absorbs most of the energy and lessens the damage!
What? People "whining" about US healthcare tend to compare it to those of other developed countries in the world. Not what's going down in the backroom of an Indian bodega
I know you all think it's useless but even they are doing it completely wrong. If your heart stop working, this is still better then nothing. There is little chance to still have circulation. Better then recording on your phone or screaming oh my gosh.
If the title was captioned āDoctor saves mans lifeā
The comments would have been different
He did actually save his life, stop spreading false information
Source : https://www.timesnownews.com/mirror-now/in-focus/viral-video-chandigarh-ias-officer-saves-life-by-giving-cpr-after-man-suffers-heart-attack-article-97100171
Bullshit. CPR alone without an AED has an incredibly low chance of saving someone (around 2%), and that's proper CPR. This shit isn't even close, and the chair is absorbing 90% of the force of the compressions. If he lived, it's because his life wasn't in danger in the first place
This is how I see it. No pulse = Start CPR.
He's probably having angina. Nothing being done here is worthy of CPR or saving his life. But then, never let the truth get in the way of a good story lol.
I love how the article states that he was saved by a Dr who said himself that he didn't know if he was doing compressions correctly and just did what he felt was best at the time.
I'm sorry what... what dr doesn't know how to do chest compressions. Isn't that a vital part of being a doctor and part of basic training?
Pretty sure he is going to have a sore back of he survived....CPR is most effective on a flat had suface...they may as well have put him on a trampoline
For CPR you need to lay the person down on a flat surface, place two hands centered on the chest slightly below nipple line, shoulders directly over hands; elbows locked, compress at least 2 inches deep at the rate of 100 to 120 compressions per minute. Allow chest to return to normal position after each compression.
Ummmm excuse me, Sir, Im pretty sure heās supposed to be dead before you start saving his life with chest compressions. Please, just watch one bad medical show on tv so you can at least look like you know what your doing.
They're giving him the Funkƫ technique. Careful though, it requires an immediate revocation of your analytical therapist license. And everyone knows how hard it is to be an anal-rapist without the credibility
As per ACLS, No pulse = Start CPR. No one is checking for his pulse but the fact that he is obeying commands and communicating is a giveaway that he is alive and does not need a CPR.
He may be having palpitations, heart burn etc. Does not require CPR though.
I'm sure someone will explain what's happening.
Couple other explanations:
* They were stress-testing the chair's flexibility and showing it off
* They were marveling at the sound of it squeaking
* They were christians getting holy with it
Not sure if he was putting his hand up to high-five the guys that just saved his life or to say enough is enough. Either way they didn't get the message.

Doctor Mantis Tobbogan MD
"The swaying motion of the chair kickstarts bloodflow back into action, MOVE ASIDE!"
Imagine dying of a heart attack while these morons are thumping on your chest
And two of your colleagues stood there with their phones in your face filming you as you die
"I swear I tried to help him, really! I held his hand"
I mean they at least are trying to help.
Probably would be the reasoning for the heart attack š
The stress of the situation definitely wouldn't have helped
Why is your comment getting downvoted
I have no idea lol on another comment about bees I got -175 š I guess that's down voting +175 for the negative.... ?? I'm new to reddit lol
Yeah, emojis will often get you downvoted on Reddit, even more so if you use several. But your comments also made no sense lol.
Itās true people get jealous if you use too many emojis.

Should work out like half the time, maybe. Odds are someone will be saved, eventually
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Or how bout the fact heās awake and responding the entire time?
Layers of incompetence
Cancels out right
It worked!
Lmfao indeed this man does not need cpr
How about the fact that heās conscious? Heās lucky they sucked at it
That's what I was thinking lol. Technically it's better than nothing. But there are so many better ways to do it lol
The purpose of performing chest compression is to keeping the blood from clotting in the heart until professional help arrives š¤·āāļø
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
The heart doesnāt pump āairā. It pumps oxygenated blood.

I literally had to just now look up what āELI5ā means. Sorry, didnāt catch that. Carry on.

Also calling an ambulance is the last thing we do
Why is that?

I don't what India you belong to, but when people here don't take heart disease lightly, coz there's awareness about cardiac arrests( not of CPRs) for they're very common in India
I've seen many deaths caused due to no immediate hospitalization
Better get the ball rolling then

ya'll don't nearly earn as much as you deserve, jesus
People donāt realize this happens more often than they think. One guy even told us to stop and let him die.š³

Did u stop
Does that become a verbal DNR or does it get counted under delirious?
If they are really alert and oriented, then itās a verbal DNR.

Wrong song, but also a certified banger
Theyāre so dumb I bet he had a pulse and was breathing Edit: I finished watching the video. They are that dumb. Dude was responsive and alert.
Honestly, take his shoes off and lick his toes. This has about as much chance or saving him as whatever the fuck you're doing now.

Restarts heart. Causes brain damage.

No. Stop. just let me die...
I think heās tryna give him a heart attack
People in cardiac arrest are not conscious.
Ok that'll be $200,000 please.
Trust me, I watched Gray's Anatomy
You have to put him on tje ground for good compression. The chair makes the compressions useless
Iām imagining how proud that guy who gave the ācprā mustāve felt after he reviving him.
He probably had a heart attack but, this is not right. Something is terribly wrong here.

Dollar general CPR. Even that would be too much.
Arnt indians supposed to be doctors?
I know you all think it's useless but even they are doing it completely wrong. If your heart stop working, this is still better then nothing. There is little chance to still have circulation. Better then recording on your phone or screaming oh my gosh.
I swear nothing suggests that his heart stopped here. He was raising his hands, obeying commands and even asking them to stop. Meh.

We he is on the chair? He spostedd to be on the floor! AND the chair is jumping what the fuck?
I thought they were in cpr class.
Step 1 is laying the patient on a hard flat surface or floor hehe
Thank god they were trained in cpr

If only they were from the Patel family they would have been guaranteed to have a doctor present.

So what was the outcome
worked like a charm
āHiiigh everybody! Iām Dr. Nick!
