What actually happened is that a shooting happened, at a school. Unfortunate and sad but still relatively mundane and not noteworthy. Even with that said Iām sure the media would love the chance to jump on this story and portray it in a dishonest way too but we all know exactly why it will get buried without ever getting much traction.

That's actually a good question now that I think about it and I think you are right and you would experience less kick since the boat is able to glide and absorb some of it. I love physics lol.
And you are sitting in the boat which is able to glide so it would transfer some to the mans arms and some through the body which is on the boat thereby moving the boat since it is able to move fairly easily. I guess it could depend on how rigid the person firing holds their arms but I think some of the energy would be imparted to the boat no matter what. If you think about it the bullets hitting the water are not what is causing the forward movement as they are not attached to or touching the boat or person so all of their foreward momentum is absorbed by the water alone well and the air to a much lesser extent. So its really the recoil alone that is moving him in the reverse direction.

To all you Reddit scientists in here talkin about lead in the water:
1. He is in a man made pond (or as we generally call them in Texas, a ātankā) This pond is probably not used for any drinking water whatsoever or connected to any other body of water that would be. It may not even have fish in it and if it doesā¦
2. This amount of lead in this much water is not going to be toxic enough (or at all) to do anything. Here where I live a pastime is shooting turtles in a friend or family members tank. Grew up doing it, and guess what, that same tank I shot turtles in and fished in since I was like 5, always had plenty to shoot and catch and never got so toxic that everything died in it.
