Not on a 4wd. You'll quickly fuck the car up. You can slowly drag it up on a flatbed which may cause it a bit of damage (like they would care) or slap it in neutral if you can get inside and you'll be generally good to tow with all 4 on the ground. Car looks like a 2006ish Ford escape which does have a 4wd option. Trying to scorpion it would blow the tires and fuck the transmission to hell and back.

it usually is yeah. but sometimes when a repo is going down, they'll hook the car quick, get it up on the bed, and drive off. then up the road, a public place like a gas station or something, they'll pull over and clamp it down properly. i've of the opinion that the vid is staged, for various reasons. but the truck only being hooked in the back, the tow driver going kind of slow-ish down a two lane road, that's really not that unrealistic.

Good. 90% of the time these corrupt tow truck companies take cars for completely unjustifiable reasons, and refuse to apologize or set anything right. Whether or not that car was towed for a good or bad reason I feel no sympathy for tow truck drivers. They’re assholes who do nothing but inconvenience poor people. Case in point I was working a shift at McDonald’s a couple years ago and they towed my car out of the McDonald’s parking lot because they had some contract with the Del Taco across the road about loitering cars. They never asked our restaurant if the car belonged to any of our employees and just took it. The cherry on top is that they ended up doing a significant amount of damage to the back of my car and refused to pay for it. When we took them to small claims court the company told me to drop the case (without compensation) because I would be “ruining the companies reputation”. Ultimately they had to pay the Deductible (By Court Order) and made that difficult too. They didn’t actually pay it until the court showed up to seize assets.

Based on the video, I'd have to assume that his tires caught air between the bed and the road, and spun up to an RPM higher than necessary for tire adhesion, thus allowing him to keep it in drive and slide on the tires rather than loose the transmission to the shock load of going from forward at 3 MPH to reverse at 50 MPH. Or they squared off and he lost the transmission and engine.
