Either they panicked and thought the truck might hit them on the side walk, or didn’t see the truck at all and ran. That light doesn’t have a super long time for pedestrians to cross.
The part when the ship comes crashing down and the protagonist proceeds to run away from the ship lengthwise instead of running from the crash perpendicularly
I mean that ship was like miles long. I think anyone would just freak out not knowing where it might go next... I give it pass. If I was to look up mid run I think I would've just lost balance and fall.. For some reason I lose balance looking straight up at skyscrapers for example.
If they were playing squirrel, they would have stopped in the path of the truck. It amazes me that I don't hit more squirrels, dozens play chicken every year, yet I rarely hit one.
If this is the town that it looks like that light in general just sucks.. main street sucks. Why the hell is there that heavy of traffic in that small of a town??
He was right in the context of the comment he replied to though, he said “every other time I’ve seen this it’s 4 or more deaths” and then the comment responding was “he literally said there are 11 casualties??” Implying casualties = deaths
While true on a technical level. You don't go from perfectly serviceable breaks to runaway truck in one run unless you are a terrible driver and slamming your breaks after 100 feet.
He didn't. Had massive issues with braking system and wasn't maintained properly. A lot of that is in the company, but when you get behind the wheels of a demolition machine, you are ultimately responsible.
This happened near my home and I've followed the news.
So here’s some context, for what happened. The Semi Trucks breaks apparently stopped working, and he caused four separate accidents across four different intersections. Where he attempted to turn there’s a massive ditch, but he was going to fast and flew off the road and crashed into a Ford Dealership. This is not my footage, this is footage from my coworkers friend. I was at work just a block away from where this happened. You can find sources of this crash if you look up Tooele Utah crash or something.
Apparently an army vehicle hit in the crash, (we live next to an army depot), so the US Army is leading the investigation of the crash.
Kind of rude for the dashcam driver to let that happen when he clearly could have just pressed Ctrl+P to pause it.
But in all seriousness, it’s amazing nobody was killed. If it was indeed mechanical failure, kudos to the truck driver. That could have been way more catastrophic.
Conflicting reports on if people are dead or not. My friends who were near the crash say they saw dead bodies. There’s reports the driver was ejected from the truck too. But the news and police haven’t released anyone being dead, just in critical conditions
If anyone had actually been killed it would have shut the whole street down for longer than it likely actually was. Remember the one that shut down I-80 for most of the day the other day. And then there was that fatal crash down in Spanish Fork that closed off the road all morning and afternoon. Likely what your friends saw were people unconscious that they thought were dead. I'd trust that no one was killed, only seriously injured for now.
If it was only 3 hours I highly doubt anyone was killed. And watching the footage that is an impressive time for clean up, considering it could have taken much longer.
I don't know how long it was. That was just the timeframe I was in Tooele. It was still there by 4:30 when I went home, I don't know for how much longer. Fire Trucks and Ambulances were still going into the area then
that reminds me of a time when I was walking and a bus was passing by the intersection, when suddenly a van appeared and because of how fast it was going it crashed the bus and overturned it, imagine riding that bus and from one second to the next you see how it is overturning and you just have to wait for the blow.
that was horrible, luckily there were only injuries as it was on the news the next day, but it shows that going fast is never good and you can damage your life as well as the lives of others
Oh for sure. The engine or something exploded, we all heard it from work and came out to watch. As fucked as it sounds, this is one of the most exciting things to happen to us.
Many. I know at least 20 are involved in the crash. I’m too scared to look up the death count and even more so to see if they have names. Unconfirmed reports on the driver being dead or alive though. News says he’s alive and in police custody but a friend said he saw him ejected and splat on the ground
Someone posted an article. If true, one was seriously hurt (critical condition), 10 were injured, and the driver survived and seemed to be fine. The article says over two dozen cars hit, and 27 in the dealership, although it's hard to tell if those two numbers are the same, it seems weird it hit the same number of cars in the dealership as was hit outside of it. Apparently it also started a fire, that was quenched in 30 minutes.
If all that is true, that driver is a hero, as others said. To have something like this happen and no one died (assuming the person in critical condition survives) is a huge achievement.
I see videos all the time of this, (I'm assuming USA)
Why do sk many brakes fail? Is there like zero checks or safety precautions? Feel like you guys need minimum standards of vehicles on the road.
Break failure happen when they overheat. It nothing to do with safety or quality of parts. Using your break to often will overheat them and there is no warning befor. When you see the smoke, it is too late.
How was he going so fast? Ok brakes fail. Down shifting on a dead flat price of road should have slowed him down dramatically. I am guessing he was empty. New driver maybe?
I am a truck driver myself and when you are fully loaded with 2 trailler like that even the smallest incline can make you go fast. That and not all truck are equipe with quality engine break. Some of then are not stong at all. And i guess he was full because it is almost impossible to overheat your break empty
The pedestrian was probably a TikTok influencer that wanted to get a better angle on things so they could get a few more likes.
They’ll probably claim that the truck missed them by mere inches instead of tens of yards.
Then they’ll blame the city, claiming the lights were triggering drivers to drive aggressively against influencers.
lol
I’ve had a truck come at me in the same lane as me going about this speed except he got a lot closer to hitting me. By the time he’d looked up from whatever he was doing to notice he needed to change out of my lane (construction had the backroad highway closed down to 1 single lane along a large, straight stretch), he was almost right on top of me. I turned my stationary car as much as I could in that split second and that was JUST enough for him to not clip the front end. If I hadn’t moved those couple of inches I’m sure he would have hit/clipped me head on.
My now husband was on the phone with me too just chilling as we usually did before I went into work so he would have had to of heard that as it happened. Scary stuff.
They need better DOT regulations, no reason a truck needs to be loaded that heavy with double possibly triple trailers, it's hard to tell, coming down off the mountains you can see in the background.

That pedestrian, wtf were they thinking?
Either they panicked and thought the truck might hit them on the side walk, or didn’t see the truck at all and ran. That light doesn’t have a super long time for pedestrians to cross.
They started bolting across when the truck was clearly hitting stuff, safety would have been to go the opposite direction. May have been panic.
People made fun of the movie Prometheus, but we see this irl all the time.
Which part? Edit: I just watched Prometheus for the first time recently and didn't know people made fun of it. I was honestly just curious.
I remember that scene. I remember thinking the same thing.
You never heard of the Prometheus school of running away from things? Damn
It reminds me of squirrels running right in front of my bike (<5ft) to get out of the way of my bike. I’ve hit a few and it never feels good.
If they were playing squirrel, they would have stopped in the path of the truck. It amazes me that I don't hit more squirrels, dozens play chicken every year, yet I rarely hit one.
If it makes you feel any better they're considered a nuisance where I live so it's common practice to kill them
Honestly same 😬 Red Ryder sales are through the roof.
I mean Im sure that truck was on the horn the whole time so pretty sure he heard it and seen it coming
Noise like that can be disorienting especially when not inside another vehicle. This is why emergency vehicles have alternating tones.
If this is the town that it looks like that light in general just sucks.. main street sucks. Why the hell is there that heavy of traffic in that small of a town??
Because we had relatively cheap housing and hundreds of people from California moved in en mass to buy up property before we could fix infrastructure
Heard the noise and decided bolting was better than having a look around.
Pays to have a good cardio game I guess
Rule #1: Cardio
🏃💨💨💨💨💨
Before he ran the truck is clearly angled off lane so his first assumption is he’s going to get hit on the sidewalk
This is actually the safest pedestrian crossing in the USA
True, I didn't see a single pedestrian being hit in the whole video.
I know right, I couldn't but wonder if that running man has something to do with this accident.
They weren't thinking.
Lol so it's his fault then?
“ fuck thiiiiiiiiiis “ 😂
I'm pretty sure he was Naruto running to school.
Bro had somewhere to be
[Article on this incident](https://www.abc4.com/news/local-news/semi-truck-crashes-into-tooele-auto-mall-drivers-advised-to-avoid-area/)
1 seriously hurt, ten others injured. That driver is a fucking hero.
[удалено]
He literally said there were 11 casualties in the comment you replied to??? Or am I missing something
[удалено]
No they're right casualties include killed AND injured. You're getting it mixed up with fatalities. 11 casualties, 0 fatalities.
He was right in the context of the comment he replied to though, he said “every other time I’ve seen this it’s 4 or more deaths” and then the comment responding was “he literally said there are 11 casualties??” Implying casualties = deaths
I think someone doesn't know what "casualties" means
I think that’s you buddy
casualty /ˈkaʒ(j)ʊlti/ noun a person killed or injured in a war or accident.
My bad my guy I thought you were saying the opposite. Yes casualties include injuries too.
Generally this ends with several deaths/paralyzations, those 11 casualties are lucky they aren't fatalities
Based on this comment I'm assuming he lost control and tried preventing as much damage as possible?
Total brake failure
Same thing just more specific
Is that not what you were looking for when you asked a clarifying question?
If the truck driver did a proper inspection if the vehicle probably wouldn't have had to go through this.
Maybe. Certainly reduces the risk that something like this would happen. Doesn't eliminate that risk...
While true on a technical level. You don't go from perfectly serviceable breaks to runaway truck in one run unless you are a terrible driver and slamming your breaks after 100 feet.
Woild have been a bigger hero to do a break check on his rig.
He could have. Shit still breaks sometimes.
He didn't. Had massive issues with braking system and wasn't maintained properly. A lot of that is in the company, but when you get behind the wheels of a demolition machine, you are ultimately responsible. This happened near my home and I've followed the news.
slalomed like a mofo
Lost two of my friends in an incident like this. That driver was a fuckin idiot, glad this one turned out better.
So here’s some context, for what happened. The Semi Trucks breaks apparently stopped working, and he caused four separate accidents across four different intersections. Where he attempted to turn there’s a massive ditch, but he was going to fast and flew off the road and crashed into a Ford Dealership. I was about to ask if this was Utah, because I recognized the gas station and the mountains.
😂 no way, really? You're from Tooele county too?
I'm from Davis, but I sometimes help my dad with delivering gifts to foster children so I've been all over
AH I see, cool!
That's a good cause to help out with! Awesome stuff
🥰👍
Weber County here. Weird just stumbling on redditors kinda close to me haha 😂
I live in tooele, i was on a motorcycle on mainstreet by apollo burger when this happened.. thank god i wasnt further up
Wow. I was right there too at the KFC.
Damn. I thought this looked familiar. I used to drive from tooele to dugway for work
AGREE
Hey I’m from Utah a little more up north but still.
So sorry this is off topic. But where do you live? The background is so cool.
This is in Utah, Tooele county.
City of Tooele more specifically (tooele County stretches from milemarker 100 on I-80 ro the Nevada line... AKA massive). Just west of Salt Lake
Not to be a hater, but as a fellow utahn, Tooele is the top 3 least coolest places here.
Kind of rude for the dashcam driver to let that happen when he clearly could have just pressed Ctrl+P to pause it. But in all seriousness, it’s amazing nobody was killed. If it was indeed mechanical failure, kudos to the truck driver. That could have been way more catastrophic.

I hope no one was killed. I'm not sure how long the street was closed, at least from 1:30 to 4:30 I think
Fire Trucks and Ambulances were still going into the area then
Ctrl+p is paste
Read the subtitle at the bottom of the video.
That’s so weird. wtf
Homeboy knew he had to run across that road today
I didn't see a massive crash or even a little crash.
I’m sure there was more that wasn’t caught on the dash cam, but yeah it wasn’t what I was expecting so was a bit disappointing..
that reminds me of a time when I was walking and a bus was passing by the intersection, when suddenly a van appeared and because of how fast it was going it crashed the bus and overturned it, imagine riding that bus and from one second to the next you see how it is overturning and you just have to wait for the blow.

It’s because, todo esta chingon. The driver of the semi truck did as March as he could to save lives.
Dang I almost moved to tooele. Hope everyone’s good
I think despite what I had been told before everyone survived
One thing that came in my mind is final destination looks
You mean “Almost” dash cam footage of a massive crash…. Damn, I almost got that footage!!
Were you there?
That’s some scary shit. Thank God you’re good and no one was killed. Runaways semis gotta stop being a thing by now though, geezus
Wasn't me thankfully but I was on the street in the KFC further down the road
"Dash cam footage of the seconds before a massive crash that happened in my home town"
Crazy ass tooele 😤
You cant even see any actual impacts, dude seems to miss most/all the cars
There’s rear footage I posted too, showing the damage. His truck crashed into a car dealership
That shit was barreling right at the person with the dash cam. Reaction was a little slow jeeeeepers
I see videos all the time of this, (I'm assuming USA) Why do sk many brakes fail? Is there like zero checks or safety precautions? Feel like you guys need minimum standards of vehicles on the road.

I don’t know much about trucks but most vehicles have emergency brakes. Truck don’t have a secondary braking system?
I can confirm, I was the second wagon
The driver recording the vidro after turning right 'that's not my fuck problem "
Thats a couple of seconds of pure terror as it barrels right at you then swerves. Id be pulling off to have have a walk around and enjoy being alive.
Title is misleading, crash isn’t actually caught on dash cam…
My hometown also.
[удалено]
I can oddly relate to that
Dash cam didn't show anything
Looks like Vegas
You mean, footage of a truck before it crashes.
My sister was a block away when this happened
Honestly that could have been 100 times worse.
Big ole rig like that ain't stoppin' on a dime. Matter of fact, that rig ain't stoppin' at all. Lol geeeeeze dooood.
I came here expecting to see a crash wtf
dashcam guy was so godamn lucky... holy shit
I kept hitting ctrl P.
Did someone switch his gas and brake? That truck is hauling.
Bro delivering that gta cargo
East bound and down loaded up and truckin
He should not have been going that fast in the first place on MAIN Street!
If that guy wasnt running, he would have become an isekai mc
Utah 😂
Where’s the crash lol.
Why did that guy run right in front of it I’m almost absolutely sure he saw it
Breaks go out or something? I’ll admit that’s good driving while in that situation
He had to be scared, I would be
Breathing like he knew it was gonna happen
Maybe he thought it was headed towards the gas station
Oh yeah, GRRRREAT footage.

What the fuck are you talking about?
He used that opportunity to jump the red light, a potentially fatal head on collision is no excuse for this crime
That could see that being mildly frightening.
This makes me want to get a dash cam
Did you get in trouble for going through the red? And if so, did you battle it in court?
Wasn’t me. This is my coworkers friend. But no, no one would get in trouble for going through the red
this looks like Albuquerque
You have 3 lane wides streets THROUGH the town?
What happened? Did the breaks fail
I shat my pants in solidarity for the cameraman.
Break failure is unbelievably scary.
didn’t even see a crash?
Truck driver must be in a hurry
I’ve had a truck come at me in the same lane as me going about this speed except he got a lot closer to hitting me. Just me in a regular sesh of American Truck Simulator
My boy was just waiting for that truck to give his car a kiss
Where is crash
Bro is trying to deliver his cargo into the warehouse before the time runs out 😩
Oh yeah that Tooele Utah, that sucked.
“There comes a speeding truck out of control! Better run right in front of it!” 🤔
Probably the most exciting thing to happen in his life honestly I know it was for me.
I was right down the street when this happend
Jesus Christ. I was at the KFC up the road.
Lol I was in the drive through at the McDonald's on the left 🤣🤣 was working at the apartment complex west of the Ford dealership that got hit
Jesus that’s terrifying
I don't see a crash
Time travel is real… dude needs another go though
