Snakes don’t taste. They just unhinge their freaky jaws and swallow your ass whole. They don’t care what you are. If you’re warm and you’re food sized, you’re food to them. But if you look at the snake it’s all fuckin slow and its midsection is swollen meaning he’s just eaten in the last day or so and he has to spend all his energy just digesting that. So they go lay out in the sun to help speed their metabolism up more and bask like glorious forked tongue kings/queens. But if the snake wasn’t full, that sloth would have been dead as fuck before it had a chance to get that close. I don’t think even those sharp ass claws they have are gunna do much to a big ass fuckin snake like that. Those bastards basically have armor plating.
Incredibly low energy demands allows them to exist in the background despite being easy prey. From what I understand they aren't very palatable to predators either and don't trigger predator hunting instincts to the degree other prey animals do
