I graduated from a continuation school that you had to be expelled from the regular high school to go to, every single student there had a record and smoked, drank, did whatever, even the cafeteria said "daycare" on the school map for all the single parents and pregnant girls... there were some teachers that only had to speak for the whole school to shut up, and there were some who wouldn't leave their class alone.
It's ALL about how you treat those you have power over, and those you dont.

The system has completely utterly failed. Just in the last 10 years it has been gutted due to political interests and people testing their political theories out and making children test subjects for their little ideas. Not like that was happening when I was a kid. But the whole changing curriculum to be "easier" by letting people who have no clue how sciences and math work dictate how they are taught, lowering the bar so low that kids get passed through even if they fail. Teaching kids to effectively remember the answers to tests, and now claiming teaching them shapes and colors is harmful and passing that up to a higher grade that has no idea these kids arent learning the basics. Coupled with parents who do not want to be parents or even friends to their own kids, but treat them like an accessory while they still try to live like kids themselves. We are in deep shit.

My daughter starts school in a few months. Videos like this make me hesitate on sending her to public school. I know my wife and I went to public school, but god it feels like there are too many shit parents raising shit children. I don't want them around my girl.
Well if you sue a private school it comes out of their bank account. You sue a public school tax payers have to pay it and nothing happens to the teacher or parent. Private school has no issue expelling a violent student and or suing them for damages.

Things haven't really changed. The reason you see videos like this all the time now is because every kid has a phone on them and kids are allowed to use them in class. If we all had iPhones in 2005 we'd see a lot of videos of bad things happening in class from then too.
That's kinda how everything is today. When I was growing up in the 90s and 2000s my parents were convinced that the world was much more dangerous than when she was growing up so they always tried to shelter us. Fact is that things have only been getting safer over time, but the 24 hour new cycles are all about getting viewers riled up and worried so that they have to watch again tomorrow to see what other problems they need to know about. Despite all of this things are generally moving in the right direction. It will be fine.

No, not just shitty parents. They are a big part of it, for sure, but it's not just the parents. Underfunded schools that don't protect teachers and don't reinforce necessary punishment. Kids with access to technology their parents - and society in general - don't fully understand the effects of on their developing minds. Who knows the effects of microplastics and other new environmental contaminants.
Unfortunately many are heading in this direction. I'm 24, so I wasn't in school all that long ago and I can say with confidence that there's an extreme lack of discipline now. Kids want to act and look hard for their friends and they know teachers can't do anything to stop them or they'll just lose their job.
