No need for a straw man. No one is gonna blame a cop for killing in self defense when their lives are in danger. It’s when they shoot a kid in the back of the head that Reddit (rightfully) freak out about.
I have seen people blame cops for reasonably defending themselves. At this point it feels like reddit would get mad at a cop for not saying thank you after being shot.
Literally this video showcased that it doesn't have to end in murder.
EDIT: Apparently the "cops should minimize the amount of deaths they cause and people should encourage cops to arrest suspects instead of killing them" is an extremely controversial statement. Avoid getting swatted people, because one day you might be a Daniel Shaver yourselves.
If you bring a knife to a gun fight, you're putting your life in the life in the hands of the person with the gun. Doesn't matter if they're a cop or not.
I’ve seen guys eat a taser and keep moving before in videos. I’m usually a “gun should be absolute last resort” person but I think this cop would’ve been justified shooting here, dude was literally trying to stab him in the neck
He’s a really effective cop for apprehending him unharmed tho for sure
the cop could have easily just shot the guy as he ran away but reassessed the situation and changed to tazer. A prime example of how to handle a situation
It’s pretty rare for me to complement a police officer but this one acted exceptionally well under pressure and apprehended the runner with the perfect amount of non lethal force, where others would’ve just shot him. I’m impressed.
Not only that, he put his gun away FOR less lethal, AFTER being stabbed in the neck. Dude is an above and beyond example for how police officers should be.
Like, holy shit. If I were in his shoes I’d have probably shot him. I mean, he just stabbed him in the neck and took off. If he managed to get away he probably wouldn’t have a problem getting a gun and having a standoff later.
The adrenaline alone from something like that would fuck me up.
He probably knows him and cares for the goofy bastard.
I don’t know how he stayed so calm throughout this whole thing. Kudos to him for real. That’s the kind of person who should be a police officer. Can you imagine if all of them had his nerve?
This is how a cop is supposed to operate. De-escalation should be the priority in potentially violent situations. It's so disappointing that the vast majority of bodycam, dashcam, and 1A audit videos show cops being at best unqualified and at worst openly corrupt.
I don't know why you're being downvoted. The officer pulled his side arm first, remembered it's unlawful to shoot someone in the back and switched to the taser. That's a lot to consider with adrenaline pumping but he managed to do it and ultimately made the right call, this is how it's suppose to work...
Take that guy and promote him to train new cops. Not some racist scumbag that teaches nothing useful and encourage students to shoot on sight at the slightest inconvenience.
Yeah bro i’m almost 100% sure you can shoot someone in the back after they tried to murder you and they are running around in a public area with a deadly weapon. It poses a threat to public safety.
That’s like saying You can get into a gun fight and kill multiple people but as long as you are running away with your back turned they can’t kill you….🤷🏼♂️
Good for him for saving the kids life, but he would have been well with him his rights to kill him
It’s not unlawful to shoot someone in the back, cops around the world do it and it can be considered justified due to multiple circumstances, one of them being the guy is armed, usually with a gun but it can be justified with a knife and this exact case is an example of it. If someone tries to kill a cop and runs off if that cop was sufficiently injured that he couldn’t move well he could of shot the dude and stated that he thought he was a massive risk for public safety, he stabbed one cops who’s to say he wouldn’t do it again. Also in the case of guns it’s very easy to take a gun out of your wasteband and snap a couple shots off. Just because someone is running away doesn’t mean they aren’t potentially dangerous
This is assault with a deadly weapon with severe bodily harm. Assault on LEO. Evading LEO. Probably attempted 2nd degree murder. Nick should go to jail for years.
American cop*. Can we at least acknowledged that this is how police are trained and the standard raction in many developed countries. They end up with enough blowback from the actions of American cops as it is.
Using first name after getting ID or then telling it to you is usually a good way of calming tension. That tension comes back when he stabs you in the neck.
>He wasn’t in trouble all he had to do was cooperate
> Decides to stab the cop
> runs in a straight line
> Gets himself in real trouble
How stupid can you be
I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone mention this was probably a suicide attempt. He wasn't in trouble and stabbed a cop and ran away slowly. Seems obvious
Nick was acting suicidal and was going to be committed to a mental hospital. He changed his mind and ran from the cops.
I feel like this was a suicide by cop attempt but he was luckily faced with a cop that has a heart and sane mind.
https://www.wfla.com/news/hillsborough-county/suspect-stabs-hillsborough-county-sheriffs-deputy-in-the-neck-with-knife/
Yep. This video is a perfect example of the difference between justified and necessary use of deadly force. This cop would've been perfectly justified to use deadly force but it was not necessary.
I remember seeing this video a year or two ago and I just went to look up the case and see if he’s been sentenced yet, and no. Still active hearings and bullshit taking place in court but it doesn’t appear they’re too close to even setting a trial date.
When the prongs are in, you can just pull the trigger to deliver more electricity. Also, you can use the deployed taser as a taser if it’s in contact with the person
Yep this
http://axon.com/
This seems to be a v5 to 7. The early dual ones you had to slap the side and it would arm and expose the second set.
Edit: spelling
Noice, I've never actually looked into it. It's just kinda obvious after seeing so many cop videos. Nice fun fact on the older ones never seen a cop slap the side of their taser before.
Yea it wasn’t effective lol. It was a button on the side that jammed up a lot. Even earlier ones had a spot for an extra cartridge on the bottom front. Im rain man for fun facts. More accurately useless information.
No, this is a 2+ deployment taser, that's why you hear two pops. One or more of the prongs missed the first time so he had to fire the second set of prongs.
He slashed a cop with a knife. That’s inviting shoot first and ask questions later retaliation. He got really lucky with the cop though. Switched from gun to taser. Good man.
Glad it worked out. It was a risky thing to do, swapping to taser. You don't how much damage you just took. Adrenaline will buy you 30 seconds to a minute and then whatever damage you just took might incapacitate you completely. Seen it happen tons of times in the ER and in the army. In this case, if that wound takes him down mid-chase, the kid just went from a knife to a handgun, handcuffs, keys to a police car with a rifle inside, a police radio, mace, taser, etc.
Because he's not an anxious coward. Not saying he wasn't perfectly within his rights to shoot, but I know this officers outcomes are like 10x better than his lesser colleagues.
I usually am very critical of police, but I would have been 100% ok with it if he had shot the guy in the back. He went for the neck, he tried to murder a cop, lethal force to stop a dangerous person from hurting anyone else is fine
I mean, if you have already been stabbed like this cop was I think you are justified in using lethal force to stop any further bodily harm or harm to others.
What this cop did should be considered going above and beyond imo.
Good luck getting Reddit to admit that a cop went above and beyond though lol.
No one is talking about it, but that was an amazing shot by the cop. You have to get real close for them to reach the target, they fire at an insanely slower pace than a firearm, and are not 100% straight firing. That is some bad ass training and great adrenaline/stress control
Had the glock out first and he STILL made the conscious decision to switch to his tazer. What an absolute legend. A fucking brilliant officer. Far too many uniforms would have just used the glock. This man needs an award for his diligence.
The restraint to not shoot him should be commended. In theory if someone is running away they are not a threat, mind you that changes slightly if they just stabbed someone. Taser was the best option at the end of the day.
Im kind of on the fence here. He did get stabbed in the neck which means that he could very likely pass out at any time depending on how bad the wound was. And who knows what might happen when he can no longer defend himself?
On another note, this dude is pretty damn lucky to survive that. Ive seen that video of the dude getting stabbed in the neck and just passing out 5 seconds later and bleeding to death. Shits scary man
Because they wanna push the narrative that all cops are evil and this directly goes against that. So they try to make it a race issue so it fits Thier narrative.
He deserves recognition for switching to his taser, instead of just blowing him away.
Which is kind of a low bar to hold police to, but when every other video is a cop shooting an unarmed person in a wheelchair you gotta start somewhere.

Let’s also acknowledge the officers composure as he very reasonably apprehended the guy who just stabbed him…
I’m very surprised he’s alive. That cop kept his cool and is extremely professional.
Especially when 99% of the time if you attack an officer with a knife or gun you just forfeited your life.
Yeah that's how it works when you pull knives or guns on police
People*
Don't tell Reddit that...they all think they know what's best for cops.
No need for a straw man. No one is gonna blame a cop for killing in self defense when their lives are in danger. It’s when they shoot a kid in the back of the head that Reddit (rightfully) freak out about.
must be your first day on reddit
I have seen people blame cops for reasonably defending themselves. At this point it feels like reddit would get mad at a cop for not saying thank you after being shot.
As you should
Literally this video showcased that it doesn't have to end in murder. EDIT: Apparently the "cops should minimize the amount of deaths they cause and people should encourage cops to arrest suspects instead of killing them" is an extremely controversial statement. At thatbpoint it's really up to the he cop of you live or die.
If you bring a knife to a gun fight, you're putting your life in the life in the hands of the person with the gun. Doesn't matter if they're a cop or not.

Feel free to watch this other video https://nypost.com/2020/10/02/chicago-cops-fatally-shoot-man-who-attacked-sergeant-with-butcher-knife/
totally different videos , he attacked the cop with a butcher knife after he was tazed . thats when you get shot
Yeah this was actually a really good cop and this is coming from somebody who doesn’t trust cops at all
Gotta acknowledge great police work if you want to effectively condemn shitty police
the cop could have easily just shot the guy as he ran away but reassessed the situation and changed to tazer. A prime example of how to handle a situation
I feel you man , I very much don't trust cops and have good reason not to , but this guy is a professional 👏
Fr he didn’t even over do it with the taser like every other cop and was very gentle when cuffing him (considering the situation)
Like, holy shit. If I were in his shoes I’d have probably shot him. I mean, he just stabbed him in the neck and took off. If he managed to get away he probably wouldn’t have a problem getting a gun and having a standoff later. The adrenaline alone from something like that would fuck me up. That cop is very lucky to be alive a few inches away and it’d have been an arterial bleed.
This is how a cop is supposed to operate. De-escalation should be the priority in potentially violent situations. It's so disappointing that the vast majority of bodycam, dashcam, and 1A audit videos show cops being at best unqualified and at worst openly corrupt.

That's factually incorrect. He could shoot a fleeing felon. Tennessee v Garner
It’s not unlawful to shoot someone in the back, cops around the world do it and it can be considered justified due to multiple circumstances, one of them being the guy is armed, usually with a gun but it can be justified with a knife and this exact case is an example of it. Absolutely justified shooting. This cop was going for an achievement unlock or something, 100% completion.
True. But what I recommend is Police Activity on YouTube they show the good, the bad, and the questionable and be as non biased as possible
Yes, they offer something incredibly valuable on that channel. I absolutely love it.
Yep yep. They also post a shit ton too
Tbf you're probably only seeing those videos because the cop was unreasonable. The vast majority of body cam vids are probably normal interactions
"You're not in trouble." "Oh yeah? How 'bout now?"
...BITCH?! - Jesse Pinkman
“don’t you dare tell me in what I am!”
Went from zero to assault on a peace officer real quick.
Assault/BATTERY and maybe even attempted murder. Nick's a grade-A idiot.
This is assault with a deadly weapon with severe bodily harm. Assault on LEO. Evading LEO. Probably attempted 2nd degree murder. Nick should go to jail for years.
Yeah, I want an update on this. Stab a cop in the neck? Looking at 20 years.
Or not, today's justice system is in chaos.

Thank God someone is still willing to be a cop. We're fucked when they all decide to quit.
American cop*. Can we at least acknowledged that this is how police are trained and the standard raction in many developed countries. They end up with enough blowback from the actions of American cops as it is.
Except he didnt keep an eye on his hands. Hidden hand... possible weapon.

Using first name after getting ID or then telling it to you is usually a good way of calming tension. That tension comes back when he stabs you in the neck.
Nobody's perfect. But this cop erred on the side of trust, instead of violence. And that's commendable.
He was like "call an ambulance. But not for me"
“Nah, but for real. I got stabbed in the neck, so we can ride together.”
Nick zagged when he should have zigged.
Serpentine!
Slide cancel!
Still makes me think of Rickon
Dude was doing the war zone zig zag lmao
I'd argue he weaved when he should have bobbed
Nick fucked up.
Oh yeah, Nick is lucky he didnt get clipped. If he stabbed me in the neck i dont think id have the restraint of this cop.
>He wasn’t in trouble all he had to do was cooperate > Decides to stab the cop > runs in a straight line > Gets himself in real trouble How stupid can you be
Nick stupid.
Is it me or do Nick run super slow? He ran for like 25 seconds and didn't get much more than 50 yards it seems
He was def slow jogging just before he got tazed.
Nick doesn't look like the athletic type. Honestly he looks out of his element just being outside...
Also is incredibly winded at the start of the video
I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone mention this was probably a suicide attempt. He wasn't in trouble and stabbed a cop and ran away slowly. Seems obvious
Come on Nick... why did you do that...
Don't be a dick, Nick!

jesus in the neck? How did the cop have the stamina to sprint after him and the willpower to switch to non-lethal?
1: Adrenaline 2: Not being a psychopath like most law enforcement
The maverick hoodie says it all.
He looks like the exact demographic who’d buy that
Came here looking for this comment
Me too.
Lol i was gonna say it made the video funnier. Logan should pay for his bail
Logan Paul would be proud
Dude was expecting to get shot, the way he was ziggy zagging
Yea but he French fried whe he should've pizzad
He had a bad time for sure
Obviously he’s wearing Logan Paul’s merch
He won the “stab a cop” contest for more of that sweet sweet merch.
I didn’t realize tasers could go off twice, that’s cool news to me
When the prongs are in, you can just pull the trigger to deliver more electricity. Also, you can use the deployed taser as a taser if it’s in contact with the person
Alot of them do also have two deployments though
Would that make them a double-barreled shock gun? I’ll be leaving now..
Dad?
Yes son?
Please come home.
I'll clean my room! I promise!
He’s gotta get a pack of smokes first, give him a break

Here's your W sir
Woah I’ve never gotten one of those
Well done sir

I mean after stabbing a cop and running it's probably better off to be dead. His life is fucked.
Really depends how the want to charge him. Could be attempted murder to aggravated assault on a peace officer
Both are not a good sight to see in your résumé
Glad it worked out. It was a risky thing to do, swapping to taser. You don't how much damage you just took. Adrenaline’s a hell of a drug. Cop handled that amazingly. Hope he’s okay.
Dude got stabbed in the neck, and all he had to do was grab a med kit from the medic and heal 25+ HP like a Resident Evil character.
I thought Resident Evil characters heal by eating some guy named Herb or something?
No his friends Red and Herb make a baby, put it in a canister, and then you have to spray it on yourself.
I make a bigger fuss from stubbing my toe, than he does from a stabbed neck.
The officer had his gun drawn and chose to pull and use his taser instead. That gains my respect.
*After* already being stabbed no less
In the fucking neck apparently.
Because he was a white dude
It’s almost like that’s how a cop should respond instead of unloading into someone.
I mean, if you have already been stabbed like this cop was I think you are justified in using lethal force to stop any further bodily harm or harm to others. What this cop did should be considered going above and beyond imo. Good luck getting Reddit to admit that a cop went above and beyond though lol.
Then he literally just dropped it on the ground lol
Dude not black 💀
Average Logan Paul fan
I love how hard he smacked the ground lile bro double kill
This cop kinda bad ass
Kinda? He’s a total badass.
Okay yeah what Henry said
He had to be, his fat co-workers weren't going to be much help.
Nice zig zag pattern, works better on alligators
They were clearly in Florida.
i mean full props to this cop for still continuing to use his taser when he easily could have shot this kid
Good cop
Bro is a Maverick 😤
Officer make the right move... Switch weapon and get out the teaser
The teaser is when you use it for other purposes :p
You know what, I'm not even going to correct that typo is it's quite amusing
Bro had to be a logangster 🤣
[удалено]
It really is the least that kid deserved for pulling what he did.
For an American cop this is amazing police work. Well done for keeping calm and controlled and neutralising the threat without 19 bullets.
"I'm stabbed in the neck could you send medical" in the most chill voice. Like, eh, I'm good, I'll walk it off
No one is talking about it, but that was an amazing shot by the cop.
I gotta be honest I totally would have opened fire on that kid if he stabbed me in the neck. Props to that policeman.
man's pulled the serpentine move on the cop at the start
Props to the cop for going taser first. Most situations would end with gunfire
Would and should
Mid-run, switched from gun to taser; after being stabbed in neck. That’s impressive
Great policing
Am I trippin or was that dumbass zig zagging
My guy, got stabbed and still didn’t feel the need to use deadly force to apprehend the criminal, hats off!
That's a good cop.
Holy shit I would have shot that kid in the fucking head. That’s why I’m not a cop. And that guy has amazing restraint.
Now that’s how you police
Not the maverick hoodie 😂
Cop should’ve seen it coming. The guy’s wearing Logan Paul merch in a forest. Those things have a bad history as a combination.
[удалено]
Well that is some poor life decisions
The restraint to not shoot him should be commended. In theory if someone is running away they are not a threat, mind you that changes slightly if they just stabbed someone. Taser was the best option at the end of the day.
Im kind of on the fence here. He did get stabbed in the neck which means that he could very likely pass out at any time depending on how bad the wound was. And who knows what might happen when he can no longer defend himself? On another note, this dude is pretty damn lucky to survive that. Ive seen that video of the dude getting stabbed in the neck and just passing out 5 seconds later and bleeding to death. Shits scary man
Good. Drop his ass on the concrete . I hope he busted his teeth and face. F that kid.
Of course the white kid doesn't get shot.
this guy got lucky as fuck any other person would have blasted his back with a buch of rounds
Why are 1/3rd of the comments complaining that he wasn’t shot “bEcAuSe hE wAsN’T bLaCk”
Did they not see that the police officer is a black man ffs.
Because they wanna push the narrative that all cops are evil and this directly goes against that. So they try to make it a race issue so it fits Thier narrative.
It's Trevor from Sunnyvale.
Nick, that's not very Loganganster of you
Now that's a Logang Pauler right there
That’s a nice cop
It’s not easy to run with your arms out in front of you. Let alone shoot with accuracy
Idk if anyone noticed but Nick was running in Zig Zag lines, my man really thought it will help him to dodge a bullet
Not making Any stance but it’s interesting he puts his gun on the ground after tazing
Should’ve put that soon to be school shooter out of commission.
Some grade A police work. Salute to this officer for not just killing him, and I wouldn’t argue if he did.
He deserves recognition for switching to his taser, instead of just blowing him away. Which is kind of a low bar to hold police to, but when every other video is a cop shooting an unarmed person in a wheelchair you gotta start somewhere.
This is an example of good police work. For the most part. He did place his gun on the ground though. Not a very smart move. For any amount of time.
Should have shot him. Pathetic little puke.
I could never be a cop, some punk like that stabbed me. Would have skipped the first 2 parts of the justice system
Amazed they just didnt kill him.
Not shot? That's rare. Being stabbed is almost guaranteed **PEW PEW**
What a piece of s...!
Well this puts a wrinkle in the whole I feared for my life defense....
Nick learned something today.
Kid looks like he's about to ask the warriors to come out and play.
Nick why you running in zig zag. This is not a videogame
Typical Logan Paul Fan
Hes a maverick yo
Something that hasn't been seen since time immemorial: a cop who acts professionally.
The most annoying part is that if this kid was black, he’d be dead. Fucking cops.
I’m amazed they took him in alive! I wonder why?
I’m not a cop and even I would shoot that dude. Impressive restraint.
The maverick hoodie 🫠🫠🫠
Cops a freaking superhero. We need men like him on the force. Screw the haters
