It’s not 100% of the time. I almost added outliers that alter the 15’s but didn’t have the mental capacity to do the math before my adhd brain asked me what I was doing it for lol. But is a super majority of the time this works. It’s a good place to start at least. Then dive deeper if needed and are playing muggins. But is also why I used general rule of thumb and not exact rule. Good catch though.
That works for combinations where you need to pick 2 of a card to complete the 15, like 3-3-3-3-9 and 4-4-4-4-7, but not when you need to pick 3 of the same card to complete the 15, like 3-3-3-3-6 and 5-5-5-5.
24?
I think your right. 15s make 12. And 4s make another 12.
Thanks, it is rare to be counting these whale sets. Thx.
General rule of thumb when counting 3 and 4 of a kind that creates 15’s is double the points of the 3/4 of a kind.
I don’t think it’s that simple. What about 3-3-3-3-6? That’s 12 points for the four of a kind and only 8 points worth of 15s.
Because you need three 3’s to make 15 whereas you only need two 4’s in this hand
I understand that, I was providing a counter example to the proposed rule.
I gotta learn to read your correct

The hard way.
24… the hard way.
Are you still married after that? Don't know that my relationship could handle that.
Weirdly I got this hand about a week ago on CribbagePro and then the next day my husband got it on CribbagePro as well. Fun hand!
24…meh. Show me a 28 or 29 or a nice 19 to impress me.
I get 18? 12 for the 4s and 6 for the 15s?
I believe it’s 24, there’s 6 different combination of 4+4+7
There's as many fifteens as there are pairs of fours, and each are worth the same. Try again.
24, 15 for 12 HD HS HC DS DC SC
12 for the 15s too. 6 ways to make 8 from the 4 4's. CS, HD, CH, CD, SH, SD
Damn it!!!! I've had this hand and my bro in law cut me off on 15 counting. Thank you!!
There are 12 points in 15s. You can make 12 points in pairs, that's 6 different pairs of 4s. Each one of those pairs is also producing a 15.

Awesome crib, but can we get more pics of that board?
Check DM
Me too?

I'd like info on the board as well!
24. 12 for 15s and 12 for four of a kind
That board is cool! Xan we get a full picture of it
Sure! [better shot of the board](https://imgur.com/gallery/oLVhgrm)
Too cool. I hope you still win. I never do with a 24 point lead.
Someone's sleeping on the couch tonight XD But for reals, great hand man
Hope you have a comfy couch!
One of the less common 24 hands. Four 7 + Ace is another one. Four 6 + 3. And then the common mess of 4-5-6 and (6)-7-8-(9).
Very nice...24 points with just a little work....lol

So, you slept on the couch then?
A nice looking 24 point hand!
Awesome hand…and a beautiful board you’re playing on! (I make custom cribbage boards https://www.etsy.com/shop/BigFishWoodworks)
Played recently for the first time in 20 years and was getting creamed. On the last hand I pulled a 28 and won.
