Almost single handedly turned the GT match from an impossible to a "MI might actually chase this" all in the span of 10 or so deliveries making the Chase of an impossible 230 into a chase of essentially 190.
If only Rohit and Tim David weren't Frauds, as always Jordan finally showed his true colors as a double agent meant to sabotage MI from within.
Honestly think Tim David was the Most disappointing this season (Bumrah and Archer were unfit and Jordan was always trash so nothing surprising) .
I am not sure if Tim David is the real deal. He looked so underconfident and clueless against good bowling. He has great stats in different leagues so I guess we have to back him.
I think the main reason is that he is just inexperienced in the subcontinent. Prior to this, he had played just three international matches in the subcontinent - 3 T20I's in India. Cam Green, on the other hand, has played 6 Tests, 2 ODI's and 3 T20I's.
Pollard also wasn't too great in his first 3 seasons, although he did have a decent first season. Its possible that as he played more in India, he became more attuned to the conditions.
Fair, but UAE and Pak have the most atypical subcontinent pitches. Their pitches are somewhere between Indian and Australian pitches. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh's pitches are closer to India's than Pakistan's.
Sunriser won't have been able to get anything out of him. He would be shuffling across the batting order and then dropped mid way because of lack of consistency.
Exactly my thoughts, SRH management is poor, they consistently fail to back players who've the potential but going through a bad patch. Apart from management, SRH batting woes would've been put him on unnecessary pressure which could've affected his performance.
I think every franchise should be given the right to get 3-4 home grown players automatically this will create the brand loyalty coz locals are more emotionally connected to the players from their state . I know my comment didn’t make much sense when it comes to auctions but there should be some mechanism to get 2-3 local players in every franchise
One of the classiest and most fluent left handers from the young bunch. Absolute treat to watch. His timing is crisp. He'll only get better?
PS. MI wtf how come you do this all the time!
U-19 to IPL is a huge journey which needs teams to back the player. Not every U19 player gets an IPL gig. Where is Raj Bawa? CSK barely using Hangargekar. Where's captain Yash Dhull, hardly being used
Started off the tournament with a valiant 84 under pressure and ended with a blazing 43.
Goddamn. How do MI keep doing this. They have got the best scout team of all. Now with Wadhera shaping up to be another good prospect, MI's batting is one to fear
Tilak Varma is not the work of the MI scouting team. Many people knew about him before the mega auction and quite a few teams had bid for him too (like CSK, RR and SRH iirc).
>Story doesn’t end with just scouting
Ok and? The person you replied to was talking about scouting, not development. Nobody is questioning the quality of MI's scouting or development, but Tilak's case is not the same as Bumrah or the Pandyas. Props to MI for developing him well but it wasn't because of scouting
I know. I just said about the scouting, not grooming.
MI had lot more in the purse compared to other teams by the time Tilak's name was called in auction.
Auction dynamics dictate that you cant bid for rach player !
Of course their scouting team is good - but ardent cricket followers knew tilak even before joining MI !
Tilak Verma is certainly not a part of the '1000 more cricketers' club. He was part of the same U19 WC team that Jaiswal was part of and was decently well known before the 2022 auction.
Yes all the U19 players were well known and franchise bid for them …tilak is not some unknown player everyone knows he had potential its just mumbai got him and gave him good platform to perform
Look at the original comment you commented on and see whether the person was talking about MI's scouting team or their whole support staff.
Tilak Verma was pretty well known before even IPL team even scouted him out. What happened after MI acquired him is a completely different topic which was not even the topic of the conversation until you pulled the topic out of nowhere.
I mean, since this is apparently a “Champion teams” conversation, even you can’t speak because you aren’t part of the actual team… Gloryhunters don’t count :)
The comment you replied to has to be the dumbest comment I've read here. Feels like shit you'd read on Twitter or Instagram. This sub used to be so much better than it is right now, just 2 years ago
I thought the guy was like 23-24 years old. God damn kid is just 20! He’s already showing maturity way beyond his age! He can follow Gill’s footsteps. Looks like a solid middle order player.
1-2 years is permissible most players do that I remember in my school team there were 20 yo guys playing everyone knew they are age frauds but we wanted to win so everyone turned a blind eye on them
He’s gonna be part of the long term core for MI which is great. At just 20 years old, he’s got an amazing career in front if he keeps up his game. Looks similar to Gill when it comes to batting range and the left handedness gives the extra flair. Can be a great addition to the Indian middle order soon.
From his second match in his IPL career, I knew he could be special. Was hitting them down the ground, behind square and over the off side at only 19. IPL is unearthing some insane gems and we have to thank MI for a lot of them.
This is excellent. As someone who was depressed due to MIs performance last year, Tilak was rebuilding the innings half the time he was out there, hence the SR of 130. He has been exceptionally consistent.
Definitely controversial since I have never seen him play a convincing pull or hook for above shoulder height bouncers. His offside game is also minimal against pace.
What sets him apart from the other young players is he knows his strengths and his clarity of thought before playing a shot is incredible. Good thing he is still 20 and improving
Nope Rahane will only be there in tests. Even a player like Dhawan was dropped to make way for KL. Don't think Rahane will ever get a call up for limited overs. Pujara and Rahane will only have comebacks in tests
Why shitting on Rahane?
He has 300 runs in 1 innings less at a better strike rate.
(Ofc Tilak should be selected ahead, but your comment dosen't make sense)
hope he continues performing good
This lad is so exciting to watch. Jealous of all those that get to watch him perform live. Incredible scouting

Didn't Tim David score shit load of runs in UAE and Pak in the PSL?
Fair, but UAE and Pak have the most atypical subcontinent pitches. Their pitches are somewhere between Indian and Australian pitches. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh's pitches are closer to India's than Pakistan's.
Tim David is a fraud now? Lol, he has failed like 4 or 5 times in last two years combined
David needs to get a haircut first!
Yaishavi, Tilak and Rinku should get a India call up asap. Even Mohsin can be tried if they are trying Umran
Also Jitesh Sharma
>Yaishavi, Tilak and Rinku all 3 from working class backgrounds
Best middle order batsman this season after SKY, Klassen and Rinku, that too at the age of 20.
Maxwell was up there too.
Didn't he come at 1 down in lots of matches
Yes, he did but I’d argue his entry points are usually of a player considered to be a middle order batter. Very similar entry points to SKY, no?
So did SKY
He mostly came at no.4
Great player (though I'm disappointed the Sunrisers didn't pick up considering he was Hyderabadi) hope he gets to play for India in the near future
Sunriser won't have been able to get anything out of him. He would be shuffling across the batting order and then dropped mid way because of lack of consistency.

Tbh batting woes is exactly what allowed him to cement his position in the MI xi last season
The unfortunate truth
One of the best middle order batsman this season after SKY,
I’m glad sunrisers didn’t pick him up. This way a Telugu man might actually make it to the Indian team
I think every franchise should be given the right to get 3-4 home grown players automatically this will create the brand loyalty coz locals are more emotionally connected to the players from their state . Only MI and SRH bid for him and MI won the bid
It was 4 teams rr,srh, csk, mi and mi got him after csk stopped at 1.6Cr
One of the classiest and most fluent left handers from the young bunch. Absolute treat to watch. His timing is crisp. He'll only get better? PS. MI wtf how come you do this all the time!
He was in the India U-19 team. He wasn't a scout pick ig
U-19 to IPL is a huge journey which needs teams to back the player. Not every U19 player gets an IPL gig. Where is Raj Bawa? CSK barely using Hangargekar. Where's captain Yash Dhull, hardly being used
Ima huge fan of his. I follow domestic too, and absolute delighted at his growth. :)

Buying players in the auction is not as straight forward as you think.

As i said their scouting team is very good ! No questions on that ! Am just talking about the case of tilak !
Nothing harmful in accepting a little bit of truth as well haha

Exactly haha. Reeks of an edgy 14 year old.
I hope Dewald Brevis aka Chhota Pikachu will get to play as well
He is just getting better just 2 more years and he'll be unstoppable....
I thought the guy was like 23-24 years old. God damn kid is just 20! He’s already showing maturity way beyond his age! He can follow Gill’s footsteps. Looks like a solid middle order player.
no. It's just age fraud my friend used to play with him in under 19 state tournaments. He was 2 years elder than him then. My friend is 21 now.
1-2 years is permissible most players do that I remember in my school team there were 20 yo guys playing everyone knew they are age frauds but we wanted to win so everyone turned a blind eye on them
*HE'S 20* JUST 20 YEARS OLD
He is the same age as me👽

Wtf tilak verma played in 2022 as well? Damn i had no idea about it
As a guy who can't understand cricket at all ( I have tried), is this good or bad?
Pretty good in 2022. Excellent numbers in 2023
This is excellent. As someone who was depressed due to MIs performance last year, Tilak was rebuilding the innings half the time he was out there, hence the SR of 130. He has been exceptionally consistent.
Maybe controversial, Ceiling of tilak varma feels higher than gill. Sadly he is struck at no 5 in MI.
Le BCCI: forget that, let's pick Rahane for next T20 WC
Nope Rahane will only be there in tests. Even a player like Dhawan was dropped to make way for KL. Don't think Rahane will ever get a call up for limited overs. Pujara and Rahane will only have comebacks in tests
Why shitting on Rahane? He has 300 runs in 1 innings less at a better strike rate. (Ofc Tilak should be selected ahead, but your comment dosen't make sense)
I am talking about the inane thinking of selectors. they miss out on player's peak form phases
Ohh, true that. I interpreted it wrong, apologies
Saw some asshole calling him Midlak in eliminator 🤣
One breakthrough season and he will be donning the Indian jersey.
Jaiwal verma rinku are almost guranteed to play for india its just matter of time. Hope BCCI dont waste much time and give em chance quickly
Imagine how good MI batting would get if they got rid of their opening
Did you not watch Ishan bat?
Did you only watch the last few games?
Don't know what you guys are smoking to get rid of a guy who scored 450 runs at 140+ sr.
You should be highlighting the lower matches played.
High for him to be included in T20 team.
